Visited Catherine’s Palace outside of St. Petersburg several years ago and was able to see the beautiful craftsmanship that had recreated the Amber room. Absolutely stunning. There were photos of the destruction of the palace done by the Germans in WWII. Horrible. War is horrible…
YES it is....WHY???
From a silver and goldsmith / gem cutter and someone that works with Baltic amber perspective: I kept waiting for them to talk about how far back in human history the use of amber goes. It's a deep history and just one of the uses of amber in ancient times was as a fire starter. Amber burns, as it burns and more of it melts the fire will just keep increasing. Given the battle damage visible on the castle and then the possible torching of it after, I've always felt the amber room burned. If that's true then nothing would be found of it after a fire bad enough to destroy an entire castle.
I always felt the same. It would have burned hot enough no trace would have survived that science of the time could have found.
Thank you so much for this interesting bit of information that only someone with your knowledge could pass along to the rest of us. I think it seems they burned it all too. Such a shame.
Sounds very feasible but - how sad. Makes you wonder how much of what they stole is still missing. It’s so very sad and a loss to humanity 🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
@@gonefishing167 A good friend that got me into working with Baltic amber was an older lady from Latvia on the Baltic coast, where much amber is found. During WW2 her father was taken by the nazis and never came back. Many years later she learned her father had be executed by them because they released the photos they took of people before executing them. Her fathers photo was part of that release. I love working with amber but there's a part of it that's bitter sweet to me because of her fathers fate.
@@Pack.Leader You're very welcome and nice to see such a kind reply from you. 👍
When you give people unlimited power they just can not handle it. Whatever their personal desires are will grow towards the extreme
Like having dignity, private inner self and basic universal human rights enforcement? SCUMBAGS. WAR CRIMINAL SYNDICATE.
If the Ambar room had been destroyed by fire at the castle in Konigsberg, you would think they would have found some traces of the melted amber among the ruins.
Please understand that Amber is combustible it is a fuel it doesn't just melt
I have it. I bought it at a garage sale for $2. It now sits on my basement wall. You never know what treasures a garage sale has. Who knew.
Give ya $3
I got my autographed first edition bible at a garage sale, signed by JC and the boy's twelve

Please take 1 panel & be on Antiques Roadshow
I hope he or someone finds that artistic miracle. I know it was replaced, but the antique room needs to arise from the darkness.
Unfortunately if they do find it, the amber is probably destroyed due to the atmospheric conditions of where it is located. 😿

The Amber Room exists, its at Reich headquarters in Argentina
Or in Antarctica
The re-constructed Ambar room at Catherine's Palace in Tsarskoye Selo, it's stunning, a work of art not to be missed if you ever happened to be in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
It's material objects. Forget about it . Save your soul instead.
Wow another expert etymologist changing the spelling of words to something he thinks is more accurate, lmfao, I bet you think loose means defeat as well.
I was there in 2005 and it is by far the most beautiful place!!!

WHO ARE YOU?
Yes I wonder why the Wilhelm Gustloff is cut and blown to bits why could that be?
So many things were hidden in mines and caves
This documentary makes it appear as if the Amber Room had been Russian from the get go and only shortly mentions that it was crafted by Germans before being “presented” to the Russian Tsar.
But in fact is was a German art work ordered by the Prussian King Friedrich I for his Berlin Castle, designed by a German (Johann Friedrich Eosander) and manufactured by German craftsmen.
Although it belonged to the Russian empire later in history this is an important background story and not making that clear is a red flag in any documentary!
They also frequently refer to the Soviets as "the Russians" ...
Have you ever been to any museum in Britain or France ... ??
....because they are absoloutely FILLED with someone elses, "priceless works of art"
What’s your point?
@@masterzimnyJust one of those uniformed people who are ignorant of the fact that a great number exhibits in the great museums of the World would not exist today (just like the Amber Room) had it not been for those people who rescued them from almost certain destruction or at least ruination. These works of art are there today for anyone to see unlike private collections that are hidden away.
Oddly a great deal of those artifacts were stolen robbing graves et cetera
Yeah, because the Spanish and British and French "christians" didnt go around annihilating burning and destroying the history and the historical items and histories of the native cultures they were obliterating for profit!? Have you ever read a book Paul ?? @@paullewis2413

The Amber Room has gone up in smoke
An incandescent amber flame
Interesting documentary. The steam train shown therein was a Highland Railway Jones goods engine with cattle wagons. Strange inclusion.
Whatever they can find to illustrate the point. Just as all of the video of blasting to illustrate the clearing of blockages in mine tunnels was obviously surface blasts.
excellent
The Vatican has it probably
Why was it full of children?
Who knows the epic music uses during the 4.30 minute, when is shown the amber room ?
Presented well
What about the amber room room stories out of Poland at the maraki bunkers near the wolfs layer ????
They were once a dominant feature on the shores of Lake Rotomahana. Considered the 8th Wonder of the World, the Pink and White Terraces were the original New Zealand tourism destination, until they were buried in the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera.
We saw them and they were just wonderful. So sad but at least it was natural, not the fault of man 🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
I'm from New Zealand 🇳🇿 interesting
I'm guessing amber melts/burns when heated?
Huge panels aren’t in some crack in the ground.
Where are they??
I have read that because of the way the original Amber Room was constructed, when either the USSR or GERMANY tried to remove the actual Amber it was so fragile that it was destroyed. Who knows, was the Amber Room ever even moved at all? Considering that it has NEVER been found--I have to wonder if it ever survived the attempts to remove it from the Palace.
Less chance of bombers attack a convoy
One thing is you can't never hide the truth! ❣️
If you believe that, you'll believe anything!
How many ET species are on earth? since you know all truths...
It’s buried in a mine with a lot of other Loot
It is where it always was. It's just been boarded over
It could have been on the Willhem Gustlof, sank by a Soviet Sub.
Believing the Amber Room still exists is, sadly, pure romanticism
Interesting………🌞
I think I could tell you where to find it
How silly! Who took the color pics of the amber room?! 🤔 Ask them where it is! 😂
They recreated it 30 years ago - that is what they are showing. And color photography existed before 1941 you know.
They are never going to find it until someone forces Switzerland to open their vaults. That’s where it is. And that’s where the other lost treasure and great works of art are.
I guarantee you somebody there has some clause that unclaimed vaults default to bank ownership after some number of years.
My guess was its in the Vatican since they had an interesting alliance with the nazis but I very much like your theory, they were not as neutral as people believe, who knows what may be hidden in those vast bunkers....
Complete nonsense
If your tips say they took it south they really took it north
38:23 is that Putin in the group???
Yes.
Yep
That is his fajer
So interesting, thank you. One hopes it could be found for historical reasons - and the sheet beauty and craftsmanship of it - but I think the odds are slim. Just ‘burnt up’ seems like such a sheer waste, as is all warfare I guess 🙏🙏🙏🙏👵🇦🇺
old world tartartian treasure
All this history of searching, was nothing else found?
Is this where the first amber alert came from???? LoL
The Amber Room is long gone!WHY? Not on shredd of it has EVER reappeared! In our GREEDY world it or a peice would of it, have reappeared somewhere for Sale!
Like finding a unicorn.
Some would say it's best to let sleeping dogs lie. I have done alot of bad things.
I’ve read somewhere that late in the war a boat left the Kronesburg. It was loaded with refugees and was sunk. In the hold of this boat passengers saw large boxes and crates seen being loaded. Were they full of the reminders of the amber room? This boat was torpedoed by the Russians and repidly sank with a large majority of the passengers drown. Maybe the Amber Room is at the bottom of the Baltic Sea.😂
Andre the Giant died ages ago.
It's very peculiar that no single Russian institution or individual is credited for the contents. Have we come so far?
We all know people love money...if there was someone who knew where it is he would have stepped forward already. So it is not in private hands. What left is soneone knew but died..and took the location to the grave. Or the russians have it..but would have presented it to the world..or it is destroyed and gone
Could secretly be at the Vatican!
Or in one of Putins Palaces
It was a thrilled story .GDR...Spent allot of money 💰 and human efforts for finding a past smoked thread ..while that money and human efforts are needed for the progression of human lifestyle in GDR

@@WeAreLegion- I agree
The conclusion of detailed investigation undertaken by the allies after the war was that it was destroyed by fire in an allied air raid on a castle which had been targeted as an ss control centre.
Remnants recovered from the remains contained burnt amber with wood from the storage cabinets used for transportation.
The Germans themselves
Told the enquiry that the last place it was stored together was at this castle and there was no doubt whatsoever that the burnt remnants in the ruins of the castle were all that remained of the amber room.

The germans can be blamed and praised for many things
The Germans designed and craftet that particular thing for the Berlin Castle of the Prussian King Friedrich I.
It was only later traded to the Russian Tsar.
Although it then rightfully belonged to the Russian Empire and with that later the Soviet Union it was an important piece of German art.
The documentary fails completely in pointing that out.
