Finally!! You have reacted to one of my all time favourite jimmy live performances. This was mushroom records 25th anniversary concerts. The concert went all day and night at the MCG. Jimmy was one of the last performers that day so the show runners had to make sure jimmy remained reasonably sober for the whole day haha. At this time also jimmy was in the middle of cold chisels first reunion tour since they split up in 83. Their album had just been released “the last wave of summer” which today still remains my favourite chisel album. I suggest you start checking that album out. Jimmy’s voice mint during the late 90s. Good times and memories.

When i was 20 yr old jimmy came to place in a town called shepparton in the 80s,he sold out as ususl so me and 3 other friends drove just outside Shepparton in the country to listen outside the gates,when we got there no lie there was easy over 3 thousand people standing on huge rocks and the the hilly terrain watching tge concert cause we could see over the fence.we were standing being loud and waving our lighters in the air,20 mins in he stopped singing and asked how yas all doing out there.we screamed hold told security these very words"fuck it open up the gates,let all in" best night ever.jimmy is so loved here in Australia and he loves his fans.thwt night he showed us it wasnt about the money it was about his fsns,,,thank you jimmy barnes❤

JB and his family were awesome during the Covid 19 lockdowns, they posted regular vids on Facebook (I think?) of Jimmy & his wife cooking, laughing & his family all together playing music. They were so joyful it was easy to forget not all households & families were together by choice, they were a blessing to a lot of people IMO during a dark time. They're probably still doing them if anyone wants to check them out.
Jimmy has a great vocal range 4 1/2 octaves of pure belting madness 😂❤apparently that was an A5 he hit there but has been known to hit B5 on a number of other tracks!!! Legendary

I was 6 ft away from him on stage in 1993, his power moved the room, it felt like he was going to explode. His voice has no ceiling. Jimmy still touches my soul to this day.
I love Jimmy so much. We went to an all day festival that he closed once and my five year old son fell asleep as they were resetting that stage for Jimmy. He managed to sleep through the legend. People were stunned.

Bottle of Vodka on the stage swigging throughout the performance and then jumped down into the crowd and shared it with us! Different times, that was 45 years ago. It was a small gig at a local community hall and it was free, apart from seeing Elton John a few years later, this was the highlight of my youth! A lot of people don't like his voice because of the "screaming", they just don't understand what he can do with that voice. I love his ballads too. Four Walls, Still On Your Side, It'll Be Alright, Flame Trees acoustic version from Flesh and Wood.

Mate, check out the recordings from the Barnestorming live concert from the late 80s. Those are my favourite versions of a lot of Jimmy and Cold Chisel songs.
The only screamed bit is "Hey yeah yeah yeah" eg 7:30 The rest of it is lyrics and you can make them out if you know the song. It's a belter rather than a radio version, but it's true to the lyrics of the radio/album versions. That belt is followed up by clear lyrics "Well he's thought about settling down A little diner on the edge of town But in this world of push and shove He's still got freedom in his heart" and it goes on to... "and it's the rhythm of the highway as he rolls on by...." I could quote lyrics some more but once you get where you are in the song and read that you know it's faithful to the original. This is what, 14 years after his album release of the song? Obviously by this point in his life, blonde hair and fitness aside he's lost some of the sparkle and response in his voice, after decades with Cold Chisel and a big solo career but geez it's still so darn good.
When ppl say that Jimmy just screams I feel like saying , well you scream the lyrics then and it should sound just like him right? 😂 I also think straight away that they have not heard his soul songs and they must be tone deaf or not know what notes are.
One time I would also recommend that you do the video version of driving wheels, it features Diesel on guitar and is an absolute classic film clip of Aussie trucks around one of our steel cities
The thing is… he keeps singing like this for two hours straight without Fault. The only way to listen to this whole album is having it loud enough to make your ears bleed!! Best road trip song, windows down, singing your heart out til you have no voice left
