I don’t know why, but I today I really needed a reminder about how many amazing artists we have in Australia. I’m loving watching your videos on Aussie singers. Cheers!
I saw Jimmy performing at a pub in Canberra in 1984 or 1985. I was standing just a few metres away from him and I recall the speakers were huge - I couldn't hear properly for days! It was great and he gave it his all, sweat was just pouring off him. So nice to see a video from this same time.
Love your channel, and thank you for showcasing Aussie artists, we love Jimmy, a definite icon here in Aus. I just recently booked tickets to see him. I am from a state called Victoria and their were very limited tickets left and none when I could go, so flying 2 flights to Port Macquarie which is in another State, just so I can see him. That band 'Cold Chisel' Australia's greatest band 70s/80s, but never got the international fame/success they deserved. They were a perfect mix of melody and fire. Every person in that band could of had a solo career. If you want to know where Jimmy got his fire from you will need to watch his movie/Doco or book "working class boy".
If you like spinach you'll probably love collards. Cook them with bacon in the pot, a splash of vinegar, and a pan of cornbread. Hard core folks like me enjoy a slice of sweet onion on the side. 😁💜💚💛✌️
Did you know Jimmy once said that to warm up his voice he does those short sharp squeals.... apparently he uses secondary vocal cords or some such thing so it doesn't strain his voice.... Watched something on tv where he explains it many years ago

@@libyaau ive seen jimmy 24 times, not once did he not play Second Prize. My reason for this song saving my life was my my ex wife was a horrible person and we wanted to take my kids. No happier than ever.
Jimmy’s first solo album was Bodyswerve and this was just one of so many classic songs from that album. This song was my favourite for many years. He also covers Janis Joplin’s “Piece Of My Heart” on this album which is also fire. In fact, the whole album is fire with not a dud track on it. Compulsory listening for any Jimmy fan.
In the early 1980’s band called “Cold Chisel” played the pubs… fortunate to see them play a few times with Jimmy as their front man. Glad you have discovered him and appreciate the talent he is…. why has it taken you so long? 😀.
People loved to go to his consents to feel the hair there skin and hair give them chills, girls would have tears in there eye with some of his songs. Men loves his highs and lows and grawls in his singing voice.
Stunning! Jimmy is amazing, and I’m so happy that you’re focusing on his singing ability. He’s still underrated as a vocalist even in Australia. Loved as a rockstar, but his vocal skills often get overlooked! To be fair, a lot of the ‘he just screams’ stuff comes from Jimmy because he often refers to his voice like that. But we all know better!
I can't believe nobody has gotten him to react to either of our 1st 2, 2nd place Aus Idol ppl, yet! He loves Barnesy, so he would LOVE Shannon Noll (who from memory was introduced to Barnrsy in a later episode of the show...possibly sang with him on it..) Then, the way he loves ppl who can really belt numbers out in a higher range etc. He would love Anthony Callea aswell.. his remake of Boyz II Mens song, End Of The Road, or Janet Jacksons song Together Again, which he actually recorded as a duet with Bonnie Anderson who as a child, won the very 1st season of either Australia's Got Talent or X Factor. It's an amazing version! Actually, I can't seem to find ANYONE who has reacted to ANY songs by ANY of those artists... then there is another song called California which was put out by Savage Garden... that would blow his mind aswell...along with 2 John Farnham songs...they're songs he has reacted to before, but he has never seen/heard them performed this way before...and it would blow his mind!!! 🤯🤯🤯 I've gotta setup a patron account and get him to start reacting to some of these songs, they are brilliant!
I was at this show and the ones on the next two nights, Cold Chisel were Aussie gods! In those days Jimmy would drink a whole bottle of vodka ON STAGE each and every night......and yet still performed. Amazing.
@@chisel83 Yes, This was on his first solo album called Bodyswerve No Second Prize was the main hit on radio from this album but the whole album has great songs like this.
I think the great Australian rock scene began with the amazing Johnny O’Keefe back in the 50s & 60s, with songs like ‘Shout’ and ‘Wild One’… You should check him out… 👍
I've seen him a few times live. I prefer to listen to his live shows because nothing is cleaned up and when live it's just raw talent. Love your videos
A mate of mine picked me up from Hospital one evening, and instead of taking me home after the operation, she thought It'd be fun to take me to a smallish room at the Casino in Melbourne to see Barnsy. It was pitch black in the room and I has no idea that I was positioned in front of a speaker. Jimmy came on, opened up his formidable vocal cords and I almost died of fright. My arms and legs made a star jump about 6 feet off the floor & I screamed louder than Jimmy. 🤣Christ I got a fright. My heart pounded so loudly & rapidly that I nearly fainted. I love him, but perhaps it wasn't the best thing to do post opp. My friend and I still laugh about it. Apart from Tom Jones & John F, there's nobody with a more powerful voice. What a voice he's got. Bless his cotton socks.
I dont know about the soul food thing but I think growing up hard in life and coming through the other side gives you something deep emotionally to draw from. I forgot he did this song but to me its always been Sam Cooke's. He does a ripping job, I saw you had Billy Thorpe - Somewhere over the Rainbow listed on your page. He was huge here in the 60's and early 70's. To me the best version he does was with an a acoustic guitar in a radio studio in the 90's but any version will do. Barnsey would have been a fan of early Billy Thorpe and Stevie Wright (Easybeats) types I reckon.
First came across him many years ago when the film lost boys came out in the 80s, this guy sings the fuck out of a song, then his daughter comes along as well and she can do the same, so much soul it should be illegal, all you can do is sit back and enjoy the mastery
That is who it is. Man, how did he assemble such a good band together at his first attempt at going solo. I think there is a video of 5 songs from this concert and it absolute fire, both Jimmy and the band.
I would strongly recommend you dig deeper into Cold Chisel. They are loved with Aussie pride. A documentary narrator once described their sound " Bush ballads snuck into the back of the Pub " i would agree with that. My recommendations - KHE SAHN / FLAME TREES / BOW RIVER / FOREVER NOW / CHEAP WINE / STANDING ON THE OUTSIDE / SATURDAY NIGHT / STAR HOTEL / BREAKFAST at SWEETHEARTS
You really should check out the audition of Caryse Eden, Australia's first The Voice winner singing It's A Man's World. Soulful and raw. I love how you love Jimmy like Aussies do. ☮️
Seen him multiple times; in the late 8ps he was at his peak, was at a concert and he was hitting notes and we in the mosh pit were actually looking around at each other as iF to say ‘ did he actually just do that?’. An insanely powerful voice hitting notes one shouldn’t be able to hit.

I've gotta setup a patron account and get him to start reacting to some of these songs, they are brilliant!
I was at this show and the ones on the next two nights, Cold Chisel were Aussie gods! In those days Jimmy would drink a whole bottle of vodka ON STAGE each and every night......and yet still performed. Amazing.
@@chisel83 Yes, This was on his first solo album called Bodyswerve
No Second Prize was the main hit on radio from this album but the whole album has great songs like this.
omg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!GO JIMMY!!!!!!!!!
it took an american to make this australia understand clearly how great jimmy can sing
I think the great Australian rock scene began with the amazing Johnny O’Keefe back in the 50s & 60s, with songs like ‘Shout’ and ‘Wild One’… You should check him out… 👍
Watching you getminto the song knowing what Jimmy's about to do
I've seen him a few times live. I prefer to listen to his live shows because nothing is cleaned up and when live it's just raw talent. Love your videos
Facts and thank you so much ❤
Another great reaction! 😁
You have to read his biography it is so good
A mate of mine picked me up from Hospital one evening, and instead of taking me home after the operation, she thought It'd be fun to take me to a smallish room at the Casino in Melbourne to see Barnsy.
So happy to see some genuine reactions. I always wondered how Australian artist's would be received internationally.
My old guitar teacher Mal Eastick tearing it up there
That is who it is. Man, how did he assemble such a good band together at his first attempt at going solo.
I think there is a video of 5 songs from this concert and it absolute fire, both Jimmy and the band.
One of Australias greatests
I would strongly recommend you dig deeper into Cold Chisel. They are loved with Aussie pride. A documentary narrator once described their sound " Bush ballads snuck into the back of the Pub " i would agree with that. My recommendations -
KHE SAHN / FLAME TREES / BOW RIVER / FOREVER NOW / CHEAP WINE / STANDING ON THE OUTSIDE / SATURDAY NIGHT / STAR HOTEL / BREAKFAST at SWEETHEARTS
You really should check out the audition of Caryse Eden, Australia's first The Voice winner singing It's A Man's World. Soulful and raw.
I love how you love Jimmy like Aussies do. ☮️
Karise
I remember watching him sing this song and he used to have the big guy with a beard playing his little guitar
❤ ya work man
You have a lovely voice 💕🌸
Thank you :)
The album, Freight Train Heart is a must. Great songs. My fav is Walk On. Have some sveet memories to this song
You teach us , thank you.
