Paying homage to the hardworking. He's a champion Caring, giving, considerate and just a down right good fella and we, Australians love and honour him Onya Jimmy. 🥰🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Barnsley is a GOAT. His vocal power and vocal growls are up there with the likes of Wilson Pickett and James Brown. His music is rock and soul. He’s as much of an Aussie legend as John Farnham and like John, he’s just starting to be discovered outside of Australia, worldwide. On a personal note, he emigrated to Australia from Glasgow in Scotland at the age of four with his family as £10 poms and lived in abject poverty with a lot of family violence. His evolution to the man he is today is absolutely remarkable. Legend! 🤟💪
That piano sound you love is most likely produced on a Yamaha CP70 or CP80, the quintessential must have for any Aussie touring band. They are made in two sections, the harp and the hammers, and fit into two cases that are on wheels on able to easily be taken on the road. I was a roadie in my younger days and had to move and set them up every night! Ah the good old days.
You really need to play Barnsey and Farnsey singing When something is wrong with my baby. Singing live on Hey Hey Its Saturday. You will be doing yourselves a favour. These two fellas should always be seen live. Love watching you both and I hope you do come to our Great Southern Land. Ohh this is my hubbys account but like everything else what's his is mine and what's mine's my own.😂
The MAN, The MYTH, The ALL TIME LEGEND!!!. Barnsey is one of our greatest and so happy your exploring him. He is currently touring again but even during our hardest days he would post music videos from his home to keep our spirits up. For an all time greats driving songs well hard to go past Barnsey's band COLD CHISEL "Shipping Steel" of "Flame Trees" TY Keep Safe Keep Strong🦘🦘🦘🦘
Jimmy Barnes had one of the best voices in the business ever. He's still pretty good today. Was probably about at his peak when he went solo after the Cold Chisel breakup, but the last few Chisel albums and Working Class man were huge. Given the oz music we had in this era, Barnesy, Ian Moss, and Cold Chisel obviously, Midnight Oil, Inxs, John Farnham, Icehouse, Diesel, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, Mental As Anything, The Angels, Choirboys, James Reyne, Black Sorrows, Little River Band, Divinyls, Rose Tattoo, Crowded House (ok part Kiwi), Split Enz, Nick Cave (and various bands), Tex Perkins (and various bands), The Church, The Saints, TISM, Men At Work and so many others. A magical time.
Freight train heart. This whole album was great for a road trip and was definitely part of what was played. You can pretty much pick any song off this album, they were all really good. There are not many albums out there where you would listen to the whole thing but this was one of them.
Barnesy, you can never go wrong with a song he ever sang. Being the former lead singer of Cold Chisel he has sung plenty of hits, plus before Chisel 👍🏾
Here is a bit of trivia for you Cold Chisel went over to America in the 80s and played support band for Loverboy, the crowds wanted more Chisel and was screaming out for them and loverboy got the shits and canned them. Then they went to see the big record companies who loved them but didn’t want chisel to sing their music and tried to own them, so Jimmy and the boys walked out came home to Australia and wrote a song called “ you got nothing I want you got nothing I need “ based around the American music industry. In other words, refused to sell their soul, they didn’t become world superstars but had more then enough talent to outplay any of the studio bands that can’t sing live ( Rolling Stones ). Besides Australia loves them and will always support them
Mahalia's eldest daughter has inherited the famous Barnes pipes too...saw a FB live of the family (in separate screens) performing Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah...it was chill inducing stuff... and I thought, that child has definitely got a voice, she'll go very far, if that's what she wants to do... I was blown away...
Parts of the music video was filmed not far from where I grew up, shots where barnsey is standing there, particularly with they building behind him as the trucks go by, is at the old HartleyTruck stop, and Im sure a couple of the shots are of the truck going down Mt Victoria Pass
Grew up listening to Jimmy and loving how you guys are discovering what we had/ have under our noses all this time!!!, great reaction guys keep up your Aussie theme ,we are appreciating all these great Aussie talents all over again👍👍👍👍
I've loved this song since it came out. Have the CD and still play it on occasion. Great song for the road. Love the guitar in this song more than anything else. Awesome.
There aren’t many with a set of pipes like Barnsey! If you like his bluesy feel, you’ve got try “Stone Cold”, but make sure its the original version from the 90’s, not the later one with Joe Bonamassa. In his day, Jimmy was the man - end of story.
@@richardkenna149 Apologies Richard. I had only the video to inform me. Just after I posted the comment I wondered if it might've been Mal Eastick or Kerryn Tolhurst from The Dingoes. But yes, David is a monster.
He is Australian rock he is an ozzy legend, as iconic as Vegemite as loved more than God, Jimmy is multi generational and is for us what Apple pie and George Washington is for. you.
Ok ok I know I’m late to the party but love watching your reactions, especially to kiwi/aussie music. And dang girl, that lippy is the perfect colour on you!
Check out Jimmy Barnes version of "Shake Rattle and Roll" it is ridiculous. You'll love it. All his rhythm and blues stuff shows how talented this man is.
Reason he is still active is he is Solid. He has family members with some serious talent also. But he is born from Fire. Rough upbringing. Went from one rough area to another in Adelaide South Oz. Some good stuff has come out of those places.
If you haven't done it yet, try 'Working Class Man' by Jimmy Barnes. Any Cold Chisel is great and try some Angels- or in the US I think they are called Angel City. Cheers
You should listen to Jimmy Barnes and his son David, they are brilliant together. Jimmy Barnes and John Farnham sining anything together 3 great Aussie Artist's
you did INXS 'Good Times' and Jimmy Barnes was the other dude singing with Michael Hutchins, perhaps someone else in the comments already said this, but I am old and its late... xx
The fella playing the guitar started his own band, have a look at Johnny Diesel and the Injectors. As for Barnsey they don’t get more passionate then this man, from Cold Chisel in the 70s and 80s to still screaming today.
Jimmy Barnes tells a story how as a kid he smashed through the back door of a venue to see Tina Turner perform and right then decided he wanted to sing like her. 30 years later he recorded a song with her "(Simply) The Best".
Freight Train Heart would definitely be Jimmy's best solo album. As for a road trip playlist. Got plenty of my Spotify to choose from. Just depends on the mood.
You should watch his there shutting down our town, when G M USA closed down Australia's Holden cars down, thousands out of work. A city was built to help house workers for holden
The long haul truckies are thd must considerate men when you are a girl alone in vast remote highways her in Australia. A good friend of mine drives road trains. These men & women keep our country movi
Check out John Farnham with vanetta fields and Lindsay field singing amazing grace. Watch the eye contact and respect and love between them. Also John Farnham singing help live.
I'm a truckie down here in Australia, when I feel like I can't go any further, I put this on repeat and it gets me through. Great reaction.
Jimmy Barnes is a Aussie icon...with his group Cold Chisel then solo... legendary Aussie singer
Reminds me of my late dad. Who was a truck driving man in Australia missing him more after seeing this.
Paying homage to the hardworking.
He's a champion
Caring, giving, considerate and just a down right good fella and we, Australians love and honour him
Onya Jimmy.
🥰🙏🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
'Ain't No Second Prize'is another classic from this period.
And Shipping Steel!
Jimmy Barnes is an Aussie icon
The king of Aussie rock right there this man is a national treasure
He is also just as good as anyone in America if not better
Barnsey is a national treasure !

His bro John Swan tried to keep up. Not a bad talent either. However Barnesy is the true icon of OZ rock!
@@horsefootrot5654 I couldn’t agree more 🙂
Yes! More Jimmy please. Also check out his band Cold Chisel and The guitarist Diesel.
this dude is mid 60's now and still sounds just as good live, he is often live on facebook with his family
The intro to this song never fails to give me chills - is slide guitar the greatest sound in the world or what?
That piano sound you love is most likely produced on a Yamaha CP70 or CP80, the quintessential must have for any Aussie touring band. Great song,Great singer. Check out his "old" band Cold Chisel also. Very good Australian band. Great reaction👍
They've already reacted to a few Chisel songs if you wanted to check those out (some others like INXS and Midnight Oil too for that matter).
They need to play Chisel's forgotten songs, like Shipping Steel, Breakfast at Sweethearts.
This is a great ‘rabbit hole’ ... best road song ever with Jimmy Barnes - Bow River by Cold Chisel
"DANCING WILDLY PUNCHING THE AIR!!!"
Lol👏👏👏😍

Fun fact: The guy doing the guitar solo @6:44 is Jimmy's brother in law - Johnny Diesel, also a singer in his own right.

Some mighty fine slide guitar from Diesel to back up Jimmy's vocals.
The opening slide guitar was played by David Lindley on lap steel. He is a monster player.
