    - BUILD QUALITY -
So let’s start off this comparison, by first looking at the build quality of these two cameras. Overall the body itself hasn’t changed a lot and to me that's a good thing. It’s weight is still right on thatt sweet spot for a DSLR, not to heavy and not too light.
There are a few subtle changes to the body that I wasn't really expecting either. On the back now your Q, Play and trash mutton are now round and little bit more pronounced. It's not a big deal but i’ve enjoyed the change. Another big change is on the side of the camera. As you can see Canon have now moved things around so that they could makee way for a nice new feautre, and that's a headphone jack, which we’ll talk about a bit more later.
Overall the build quality is similar, but because of the new changes, the winner here is going to be the Canon 80d.
    - MENUS -
Another change I wasn’t expecting to see was an update to the menu system on the 80d. Canon has kept the same menus system through their lower level cameras for many years, so seeing this chain was a nice suprise. As you can see the 80d is now using a tabbed system and i've got to say I really like it. It’s a lot neater now and theres a little more space between the options now, so it’s a nice change.
    - VIEWFINDER -
Another change to the 70d in the new 80d is the increase in viewfinder coverage. Whereas on the old 70d we had 98% coverage, the 80d finally has 100% coverage which is great. To be totally honest it’s not a huge change for me, but if you’re one to use the viewfinder a lot to compose your image, you’ll definitely like the change. So good job on that Canon.
    - WIFI & NFC -
The Canon 70d was one of the first in teh Canon line up to include wifi in it’s body. To be totally honest, I didn’t end up using it that much over the last two years of owning the body, simply because it was a little bit cumberstoneg to set up. The 80d also has wifi but also has a new addition and that’s NFC or near field communication.
Essentially what this allows you to do is hold your mobile phone close to the camera and it will help set up the connection. Unfortunately I’m still using an iPhone 5s which doesn’t have NFC built into it, but most android phones do, so if you’ve got one, the nfc should work great.
    - AUTOFOCUS -
The 80d now has 45 cross type autofocus points compared to just 19 on the 70d. I found it to be a decent upgrade, and I’ve defintiely ofund the wider coverage area to be useful when taking photos. But to be totally honest it wasn't a massive increase in performance. I feel a little bit like I might have been spoilt for AF performance after testing out this camera here, the Sony a6300, which has over 400 autofocus points! Both cameras did work pretty well though, but if you are looking to shoot sports or fast moving subjects, definitely look towards the 80d.
    - VIDEO -
The Canon 70d really changed the dslr video world a few years ago with it’s very impressive dual pixel autofocus system, and i’m pretty happy to say that the 80d is slightly better. It's not leaps and bounds quicker, which is actually a good thing because I like the cinematic speed teh 70d used to focus as. One area where the 80d is defintiely improved is autofocus in low light. So if you’re planning on using the dual pixel AF in low light, definitely lean towards the 80d.
The Canon 80d can now also record 1080p footage in 60fps. It’s actually quite a nice upgrade and the footage looks great. I made a video testing it out, so if you’d like to see that for youself, you can click here to see it.
    - HEADPHONE JACK -
Like I said at the start of the video, one fo the big new changes to the 70d is the 80d’s new headphone jack. Now if you don’t do a lot of video work this might not seem like a big deal, but if you do any video, you’ll know this is a critical addition. Apart from a few of the top end Canon dslr’s, most of the cameras from Canon have been missing a headphone jack. It's really great to be able to listen to your audio and hear how it sounds rather than soly rellying on the audio monitors not the lcd screen. So my take on it is this, if you’re going to be shooting video and are interested in getting great sound, then the 80d is definitely the way to go. The headphone jack is worth the upgrade alone.
    - BURST MODE -
Both the Canon 70d and Canon 80d have a burst speed of 7 frames per second so there's no real upgrade here. But the buffer rate has been increased so if you know you're going to need to take lots of photos in succession, then the 80d will be the way to go.
