They didn't stare beacuse you're black. They stare here in denmark when they don't know you. I'm 36 and danish. And I get stared at if I go to a smaller town where they have never seen me. It isn't in bad meaning, its just. "Who are you" kind of reaction.

It may well be that as an American you think the service in Danish restaurants is not top notch, but you are allowed to sit in peace and quiet and eat your food and you can spend all the time you want - you are not chased away from your table because the waiter must have new guests in to earn his salary - Danish waiters get hourly wages not tips as in the US

Btw, if you are being stared at in a big city, it's probably if you are really beautiful m/f or something is very wrong, e.g. you are naked or harassing people. In smaller places it's because people don't know who you are. In Denmark we know each other by a very low degree of seperation.

Hey dar. I’m 18 from Denmark and have enjoyed watching your videos for quite a while now. I grew up in Copenhagen and often went to Christiania as a child, like every month. Apart from the drug trade, Christiania is such a nice warm and genuinely safe place. There is people from all around the world there, I recently went there with my mom, we sat down at a table where two other dudes were sitting, and turned out they were from Texas, and we just immediately started talking about life in Denmark compared to Texas, and it just felt like we had known them forever. It’s just such a diverse and welcoming place. Of course there is some less fun people there two, but you’ll be ok. There even is a kindergarten there for locals, and the kids just play by the water and it’s so cute to see. Much love from Denmark😊Definitely come visit one day. Also I don’t know if you react to music usually, but if you want, I would love to see you react some music videos by this danish band named Lucas graham. The lead singer of the band grew up in Christiania, and he’s made some songs “not a damn thing changed” or “7 years” there you can see a bit of Christianias real side❤️

Hey Dar it will be great for you to visit some Scandinavian countries. But please don't make the mistake that many US tourists do and stay in motels and do the same stuff that they do at home. Definitely stay in a hostel so you can interact with other travellers and the locals of course. That's how you learn about other people and other cultures. You'll miss out on so much staying on your own in a motel room. You can stare at four walls any time. It sounds like your a little concerned of someone stealing your stuff in a hostel. Remember it's not the US and you can always ask the manager to put your valuables in the hostel safe. If your willing to go slightly outside your comfort zone, you'll love it.

  • @Mike-zx1kx
    @Mike-zx1kx ปีที่แล้ว +3

Regarding the Metro. No need to learn timetables! In the Metro ring cars leaves every 2 to 4 minutes 24/7. Its driverless and have few cars but high frequency wish it what you want as a user. It are cheaper and faster to take the Metro from the airport to downtown Copenhagen. The ride costs same as entering a taxi. If you buy a card giving you access to the entire system for a day or longer it does not begin to count time before you use the card to "clock" into first ride.

Copenhagen has been a harbor city since it was founded in the late Viking Age ~ everybody always comes from somewhere else in a harbor city, so no-one batters an eyelid at a new face or a difference color combination. Also, Afro-Danes have been fairly common beginning with Generation X, because in the 70s everybody was boinking everybody, Afro-American music was hugely popular and Denmark was quite heavily involved with development projects in Africa all the way up into the late 80s... so... y'know... people meet... babies happen. And the looks he may have gotten in country side Denmark has nothing to do with prejudice ~ it's very simply the ubiquitous sentence EVERYWHERE on the planet, when you go into the country side: "you ain't from around here" ~ no matter who you are or what you look like. Denmark is safe and very-very safe. You can travel here without any interference, no matter what you look like or where you come from. 😊

We use "Semunition" a lot during different exercises 😅 landed me several sore areas during combat training. I remember before a deployment we had a 4 week exercise were we used full force against each others teams😂
My task was to infiltrate the enemy base, do recon and if possible, take out leading personal, or gain special Intel... So, I did my job 😅
I hit my (in this exercise my enemy) commanding officer, a lovely lieutenant-Colonel, right in the forehead when he removed his helmet (rookie move) I was aiming for center mass, but the accuracy is really bad 😂
After the exercise was over, he awarded me with two extra days off, because as he said "You did what you were told to, you exploited my(his) lack of awareness and thought us all a lesson, you cleared out without getting caught, and, you only shot me once, which was 'nice' "... It was some fun days 😂

I just had to do the conversion from fahrenheit, and we do get hotter days and heatwaves etc, where it gets much hotter than the 70s, as he said! I have measured around 95F on my terrasse several times while I’ve lived in my current home (West Fyn southern Denmark)
In 2018 we had 85-95 for weeks and weeks (and a severe draught) while other summers are much colder and wetter and more windy.
A fun example is that on the 22nd of July 2022 there was high sun, barely any wind and the temperature reached nearly 95F here....
On the 22nd of July 2023 however it was grey, windy and the temperature did’t come over 62 :/
So its a lottery and you just never know what you’re going to get! 🤞🙏😅

The deer park is probably Dyrehaven. If you visit, you might want to visit Dyrehavsbakken also, which an amusementpark even older than Tivoli. They don't have an entry fee, so you can always go around and just check if you want to do anything or not.
If you go the Dyrehaven for the deer, I recommend finding the open field (it's called Sletten, ftr) in the evening when the sun is relatively low. All the does will comes out the trees to graze before sundown and there are literally hundreds upon hundreds of them.

You said you 'need a tour guide'. I live in Copenhagen, so let me know if you want a local guide showing you some hidden gems. Yes, it is an expensive city, but you can find alternatives to the $30 burger joints, expensive car parking etc. Like he said, it was the things he could have avoided that made his visit pricy. ;)
PS: Copenhagen is a very multicultural city, and open to all colors and types of people. That's one of the reasons I moved here 18 years ago from countryside DK.

    From Denmark.
I live just north og Copenhagen, so i come to Copenhagen relatively often.
I often walk around alone, I never had a problem, not even those few times going home from a party really drunk.
The worst thing I experienced was when the bushes kept “attacking” me.
I guess if I was a girl I might stay at least two people together. But still you have to be really unlucky to get in to trouble anyway.
There was this American girl who did get in trouble not long ago, but that was because she got scared on the street, and cut someone in the neck with a broken bottle. The rules are strickt here for when you can do stuff like that as self defense. Guess her ability to judge the situation was clouded by her being drunk and probably not being used to it.
So got in trouble with the law.

I couldn't help but laugh a bit when he talked about Møns Klint being at the cost because I'm Denmark you will never be more than 54 km (which is around 33 miles) from the sea, we are surrounded by cost lines☺️
Also I'm not sure people started because of his skin colour, but more that it's someone locals don't know and also we secretly have prejudice against Americans so it might just be cause people could hear that he was American☺️
And a last note, the more you move away from the big cities the less diversity you will see in both skin colour, sexual orientation, colorful hair etc. I think it's because the community you might want to seek out is centered around Copenhagen or Århus on top of those 2 cities being the biggest university cities as well so young people go there to study.
If you come to Denmark I hope you will have a really good time and enjoy your stay♥️🇩🇰

there is no one in Denmark who has anything against your skin color 100%, but unfortunately a number of immigrants have arrived in Denmark (and other European countries) who believe that their culture, religion and behavior must come before the Danish, (we and they know who we are talking about). it has created a destructive atmosphere in the perfect society. and when the Danes show their displeasure with these individuals, they are immediately denounced as racists. there is no one, and I mean no one in Denmark, who has anything against the color of your skin, but there are many who have something against the demanding mentality and primitive behavior that some welfare immigrants have shown in the last many years. if you come to Denmark (regardless of skin color) and you participate positively in society, then you will be accepted into society,if you only come because you want to demand without providing, and in fact cannot participate in society, because your "in Danish eyes " primitive religion, forbids it, then you should have left and gone to a country where you live according to your religion.

Being the "happiest country" does not mean we walk around laughing, or even smiling all the time. We still struggle individualy sometimes, but it's the knowing that there are safety nets set in place, should we fall. That takes a load of ones shoulders for sure. Our way of life, work to live model, fair wages and benefits also means that we don't all have to reach for the skies to be able to live a comfortable life. With that comes contentment, which explains the happiness question, IMO. Reaching for the skies is fine, but most will not "get there", so the feeling of failure in the end, certainly wont bring you happiness. Being content will.
