The whole "you mess with one you mess with all of us" don't just apply to Danes. We're very protective of those we care about. If Sweden were attacked, even if they never joined NATO, and despite how we usually act like we hate each other, all of Denmark would gladly stand by their side. This ideal is one of the main reasons why we were one of the first countries in both NATO and EU. Denmark is often seen as small and quite, but always remember the old saying:
    Fear the wrath of a patient/quite man.

      back then I bet you dad like drinking all the beers in the basement same as you enjoyed the sodas!
      Do you remember the employees going on strike when their allowed beer was limited? :D
      The old electrician who taught me as an apprentice has told me many stories from the carlsberg brewery back in the day.... according to him several employees even got scurvy back when they decided to remove vitamins from the beer, since it was their only source of nutrition...
      Crazy times.... even when I was an apprentice only two decades ago we used to drink alot of beer on construction sites... luckily that is not acceptable anymore.... :)

    Denmark also invented and bred pigs to have a set of extra ribs.. providing more bacon and "Spareribs" that are longer than in countries where they dont use the danish pig.
    So yes, a rack of ribs in Denmark is longer than a rack of ribs in USA.. if you like Ribs, you choose danish 👍

    And at Christmas? They put small paper Dannebrog on string and put them on their Christmas trees.
    And BTW ... There are 21 different types of cake at the Sønderjysk Kaffebord ... Ranging from cookies to layer cake! So come HUNGRY! ^^

    I have a theory that the coffee table tradition, is partially why a relatively large portion of Danes drink their coffee black.
    You don't need to add anything to the coffee, when you have cake to go along with it.
    Especially since most of the Sønderjyske cakes are pretty heavy.

    The law specifically stated that any Danish man or woman, observing the Swede to be crossing a frozen Øresund, HAD to respond with fire, or in a case of utmost emergency, pick up a branch, and attack. The law was abolished Quite a while ago, however (Why, I will never understand, but be that as it may) but it is still a funny bit of history. Strange, what laws comes out of 400 years of collective warfare, huh?

Af dem gik to kompagnier gennem isen og druknede, men størsteparten af hæren kom i sikkerhed. Fyn blev indtaget, og de svenske tropper fortsatte over isen til Langeland og derfra over Storebælt til Lolland.

    • @mace8873
      @mace8873 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ethanor Well, in reality _we_ didn't force them to do anything. You see, after the capitulation, the Germans were under English command, and _they_ ordered the Germans to clear up their mess of around 1.5 million landmines, which from a moral perspective is perfectly fine, and from a logical perspective the most reasonable course of action. The Germans put to work clearing the mines, weren't as we've seen in the highly inaccurate film "Land of Mine" ("Under Sandet" in Danish) young boys who had no idea what they were doing, the Germans doing the clearing were engineer troops who in some cases had planted the mines themselves, so they knew how they worked, and had detailed maps of the minefields. Furthermore, the English allowed them to use their own armored vehicles, demilitarized of course, so it's not like they were forced at gunpoint to walk across minefields, they were forced to prove that they had done a thorough job to discourage anyone from "accidentally overlooking" one or more mines.
      Even under these circumstances, our country wasn't officially declared free of landmines laid by the Germans until 2012 as you know, but what you might not know is that 3 more landmines were found in 2015 and 2016, some of those in a public park of all places. Now, how do we know _for certain_ that there aren't any more landmines left in our soil?
