- After our 2 nights in Amsterdam we set sail for Zeebrugge , and we were looking forward to our visit to the town of Ghent . We were informed that the seas were likely to get a bit rougher and so take care as we moved around the ship .
Well they certainly got the forecast correct , the wind and the swell of the sea definitely increased. Ventura was definitely tilted to the starboard side which made it increasingly harder to walk around the ship .
We had a lovely meal in the Beach house restaurant where we were informed by the Captain that because the weather had deteriorated so much we would have to cancel the port of Zeebrugge .Very disappointing but we totally understood . So our planned visit to Ghent will have to wait for another occasion .

Arr Pearl looked beautiful in the queen Anne chair with the Christmas tree behind her 🌲. That would have made a lovely picture . Not sure i liked Ventura 😕 🫣. The food didnt look too good at breakfast 🤔 especially the toast that you could build houses with 😂🤣. It all looked abit dated on board same as when we were on Arcadia they had buckets in the hallways collecting water from all the leaks 😮.lol . Definitely a big difference from the new ships 🚢. As you can see i'm working backwards through your videos 😊😊. Take care both of you ❤😊😊😊😊x
Good Evening, Amanda, I did get a picture funny enough, it was the perfect location. Although we really enjoyed our time on Ventura especially Amsterdam and New year it wasn’t our most favourite of ships . Saying that we are taking the family and Grandkids on it in July . Just a 4 nighter , some of them have never cruised before so it’s a little taster for them . Definitely dated , that is unbelievable having buckets to catch all the leaks. 😱 Thanks for working your way through all those vlogs Amanda, you may need a stiff drink afterwards 🍸😂😂. Hi Glenda welcome back hope you had a great kip . You can see why we missed a port when you see how rough it got . I couldn’t tell the difference with Pearl walking she always looks like that 😂. Well, that was short this time. It seems this one wasn't as good as some of the other trips. Food wise you really had some issues. I still get a kick out of you all eating beans with your breakfast, it does look good, and I do like them, but give me biscuits and gravy. You both are very good sailors. I'm not sure how well I would have done. I hope you both are well. Seems this winter has been hard on a lot of people, and a little wetter then we expected, but still not much snow. I'm going to miss talking to you. Hope you all will have a new adventure soon. I'm well, and hope it stays that way. Brian, I liked that shirt, and tell Pearl I'm sad about her shoes. Hi Rene , hope all is well with you , and hope your Granddaughter is feeling better. This was only a 5 night cruise just to celebrate New Year. It wasn’t the best one that we have done but we did enjoy Amsterdam and of course New Year’s celebration. Beans are a staple for breakfast in the UK 🇬🇧 but I would give biscuits and gravy a try .I think we are getting used to the rough seas now and we felt fine all through the cruise. We are having a spell of mild weather at the moment. At least it saves us some money with the gas and electricity.Glad you liked the shirt Rene I will definitely take it on the next one now . As for Pearls shoes they fell apart after getting soaked on New Years Eve . We are off next to the Caribbean so the first video should be early March . Ì roared at Pearl being annoyed at a drink being left on the pavement. Hi Alan , hope you are well and Sharon is still improving. We came back from the Caribbean on Sunday morning. We have been on Arvia for two weeks. It was cold and frosty when we landed at Gatwick.

I was on P&O aurora at the same time I believe we were both meant alongside in Belgium we had to cancel the port of call as well due to bad weather what happened on our ship loader people were moaning because they had excursions and they thought they wouldn't get their money back they were swearing at the reception they obviously don't understand the dangers to bring a ship alongside during bad weather conditions but apart from that it was a good cruise and amazing video from you both hope you're both well😊

We were disappointed that we couldn’t get into Zeebrugge but when you see how rough the seas were it was easy to understand. We are shocked that passengers would speak to staff in that manner. @@pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 I was disappointed too we couldn't talk but at the end of the day the captain's duties is to keep Us safe and his ship so I completely understand why but I just don't understand why people would talk to the receptionist the way that they have been I mean I've done motor cruises before to the Mediterranean on Iona and Avia I've never experienced anything like this before people's attitude sometimes can be disgusting but as I always say I respect the decision from the captain because they don't like to cancel ports of call neither but apart from that I watched your videos from the beginning and that's what got me into cruising now it's in my blood I've already booked my next voyage
People can be so strange at times , however disappointed you are you should never take it out on the staff . Glad you are enjoying your cruising , it does get you in the end . I didn’t particularly enjoy our very first one but gave it another go and now I really look forward to it. Thank you for watching our vlogs we do appreciate it . @pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 we were told that Sharon would be in hospital for 4 to 5 months so we cancelled our two trips for May.
So next not until October unless we find a good deal))

We was also on the Ventura at the same time. Our first P&O cruise …. We will never go on P&O again. The food was dreadful. Amongst waiting for drinks for over 1 hour. The main dining room was terrible. My works canteen is far more superior!!! Enough said. 😢
Hi David , unfortunately we have to agree with nearly everything you have said .They have certainly deteriorated. Unfortunately we have a number of cruises booked with them so fingers crossed standards start improving. Drinks wait time is the reason we always tell people to avoid the drinks package. Really appreciate you watching and commenting and hope what ever cruise line you go on next that you have a better experience. Pearl & Brian 👋
@@pearlandbrianstripsandadve8619 we been on RCL a few times and Carnival. No comparison. Dining room experience with these cruise lines are far superior.
Yeah we have been with Princess a number of times and are on the Sun Princess next year … if it gets built .. P&O will lose a lot of customers if they don’t improve.
Stopped travelling with P and O about 5 years ago.
Food and service really did look poor, when we went on Azura the buffet was very poor.

Do you need a Consultant to book your cruises with?
Hi Steve , we normally book direct and are booked up until 2026 . We like to choose our own area and room where possible. But always open to getting things a bit cheaper.
