Hi i just found you last week! AND have to say I am obsessed with you two! ive been watching lots of your videos and it brings me joy. I am SS with anxiety and depression and i live thru your eyes! sending much love from your adopted gram in Ct usa xoxo i hope you are able to read this
You may never know! Disney does a great job with special needs/requests and perhaps one day care/nurse aids will be common place for vacationers, don't give up! Also VR could be fun to play with and experience. Much love your way!
Love you guys, but I had to laugh wayyy too hard when you said "why is no one younger doing river cruising".... that's because, no one younger can afford $8-$20k pp to do it...
@Cruisewith not once converted to AUD they Don't 😉. Keep up the good work though, loved seeing the beautiful scenery I could only ever dream of seeing 🤗
There’s a decent amount of younger people who can (though most can’t as you said) but even if they can, the environment that is created by having probably 95% of the guests be middle aged or older likely turns them away. I wouldn’t mind trying one just for the experience though.
WE are in our late 40's but have talked about doing this trip. It's a nice change from running across Europe, like the Amazing Race which is I how I typically "vacation". I will never get a on cruise ship, but this looks like fun.
My sister and I are about to take our second river cruise. The Rhine was our first one. We absolutely loved it. Specially getting to know the fellow passengers. It was my 27th cruise, but first river. The food was the very best ever on a cruise. I am disabled and loved the daily included excursions, many on a bus. The cabin was wonderful with a fabulous bathroom. Having beer and wine included was awesome! The evening lectures were very informative. The music at night was good. I can’t wait for our next trip.
My husband and I have been watching all of your videos. We’ve seen them all. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! At first I didn’t want to watch. My husband was watching while he’s in Atlanta 3 nights each week for work and introduced me to your channel. Within a few videos I was hooked. You give such valuable details about the cruise lines, ships and excursions. And you are both so adorable !!!!
David I'm so sorry to hear that you've had some health issues that have caused you to find out the actual problems and work to correct them. It is wonderful that you are being open with us and showing us what you are having to do to make the dietary adjustments. It's nice to be able to see how the cruise world is truly able to work with and accommodate dietary restrictions. I also have the milk issue so good to know I can get things made the way I need them!
Hey Ben and David! These river cruises of yours are really a fun thing to watch since you go to some really fun places that you might never get too on a cruise ship. Reminds me of the Christmas cruise you took. Cheers!
I had the wonderful pleasure of a Viking River cruise from Amsterdam to Switzerland down the Rhine last March, amazing! Love all the tour inclusions and I bought the drink package for $24 US per day, great deal. River cruises can be so relaxing.
Our family took a Christmas Market river cruise in 2019. We absolutely loved it. One other difference b/t ocean & river cruise is that a river cruise is very active. You are in a new city & on an excursion every day. It's a trip, not a vacation. It is more expensive but I think the inclusions make the cost very similar. Finally, I like to give a plug for Tauck, the line we took. They were wonderful & on many of their cruises, there is NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENT! How wonderful is that! Tauck also has certain cruises designated for families so the excursions are suited for all ages. Happy cruising!
lol we also mostly call it sparkling water in the US :) . The term soda water is more so used when referring to plain carbonated water taken from a machine that primarily dispenses flavored soda/soft drinks. Inexpensive bottled carbonated water brands (typically used for drink mixing) are also often labeled as "club soda".
Hello Ben & David. You’ve really sold me on looking into river cruising. I’d be flying in from the states so it would be pricier and I just turned 60 so it’s in my wheelhouse 😉 Thank you for showing us the ins and outs of river cruising. Have a wonderful week.
I always look forward to Sunday because that's when you two have an amazing new video, and this Sunday didn't disappoint. River cruises fascinate me, and this cruise through the Rhine looked absolutely beautiful. Germany is such a picturesque country with the towns so neat and clean. I hope to one day be able to go on a river cruise too.
As a non-drinker I wish they would recognize that I'm saving them a tremendous amount of alcohol consumption. Perhaps throw in a free shore excursion as a reward. 😂
You stole my heart at Heidelberg! My entire family is from there and it’s been my dream to go there. My great-great grandfather was a professor of music at the university. I’ve been told he’s buried on the grounds there. This just looks so relaxing. Ty for your videos!
I am a huge fan of you two kids (I am old af) and I watch because I love to see you having fun. Ocean cruising is the last thing that I would ever want or be made to do. This river cruise looks fabulous! I would definitely...
Hi Ben and David! This is a wonderful video! I'm egg/lactose intolerant too and have found that cakes don't bother me too much as the egg/milk content is diluted. Flan/custards are out! Try egg whites..they don't bother me at all. It gets easier with time. ❤❤❤
Ben I think it’s awesome that you challenge yourself to conquer your fears. I think you two have a sweet and fun relationship and appreciate you taking us along. I’ve done over 50 cruises but would like to try a river cruise so thank you!
The Boppard chairlift is one of my favorite things to do on the Rhine. The view on the way back down is fantastic. If you walk a ways from the top you can go to a viewpoint where the Rhine looks like 4 lakes. When it is windy, there is quite a bit of swaying on the lift. The strange part on the chairlift you commented on is actually a hanger to take bicycles to the top
That journey to the top of the hill was terrifying!! And David, the slide!! Oh my stars, I don't think I would have done either!! And I was giggling a bit about the 747 with exaggerated tilt . . . But that, I think I would have done, after clinging to the stair handrail all the way up! And what gorgeous views all along the river!! Thank you for the comparison between river cruises and ocean cruises. I think for me, I'd have a hard time going to bed early and being ready to go on a regimented cruise excursion early in the morning. I told my husband, it might be like having to get up for a job! But I'm sure it would be worth it. With the price, I see why the older people who have amassed more money would be the ones taking these. So onto the bucket list river cruising goes!! Wonderful video as always!!
We did a river trip up the Elbe which was fantastic too. Two things I remember are the sounds being completely different to ocean cruising (bird song along the river fading in & fading out as you drifted lazily along) & watching bicycles on the towpath OVERTAKING us!..... talk about laid back travel. It was great & thoroughly recommended.
Hi Ben and David. Sorry to hear of your allergies. The good thing is that you found out what was going on. There are so many was of making dishes now that can eliminate the dailry and taste just as good. Love the look of this river cruise. It's beautiful to see things so close while you're sailing. The food looks amazing. Thank you for sharing your experiences. ❤❤
After watching this, it made me want to rewatch your Christmas River Cruise so I am about to do that lol. I hope your schedules between work and family time allows you to explore another "Christmas" time cruise again!
Having never river cruised before (only done ocean ones), your video is the first that has made me seriously consider going on a river cruise as our next cruise. Thank you guys. 👏👏👏
River cruising is less like an ocean cruise and more like a bus tour, in terms of all the little towns you can visit. A welcome similarity, however, is that in both cases, you only have to unpack once.
"Well Throw Me In The River And Call Me A Canue", I was on the floor laughing my @@@ off. I always look forward to the videos & the experiences you share.
Regarding the egg allergy, I had a coworker years ago who had the same diagnosis, HOWEVER it turned out that they only test for chicken eggs. She started raising ducks, and she was fine with those. I know with your lifestyle that would take some special sourcing, but it may be an option to look into.
Germany is a beautiful country and very close to my heart, so good to see even a corner of it here in all it's glory. You can navigate between the Rhine and the Donau (Danube) via a canal apparently - it would be fantastic to get on to a boat at Rotterdam near where the Rhine empties, and travel all the way through Europe to the Black Sea in Romania - heck of a long journey!
What a great overview of river cruising. I love the length of you videos, they are so detailed. Thank you both for taking us along again on your adventures! PS, Ben I wish you well on your new eating lifestyle. You got this!!
I am really enjoying these river cruises you're showing us. It's more immersive in the local culture than ocean cruises. Ben, sorry you can't have dairy... I find no substitutes for real cheeses, ice cream, milk/cream, butter, that can equal the flavor and texture of genuine dairy. I feel for you, friend.
"Throw me in the river and call me a canoe" is your best yet. I might have to steal that one!!! I also suggest you two dont take up skiing given your issues with chair lifts - although I'd watch you two learning to ski over and over. Great video - as always now. The best ones out there.
How wonderful!!! I have this big smile on my face while watching you two!!! Thank you for taking me to such a lovely escape from reality!! I needed this/you guys!! Hugs
That was awesome, we used to live in Germany, so it was so nice to see all the beautiful scenery along the Rhine. We visited many castles when we lived there. Thanks!!
Hi Ben! I’m sorry to hear about your intolerances, it’s an adjustment for sure. I have numerous food intolerances, so your experience with how cruise lines handle food allergies and intolerances will be greatly helpful. Take care! ❤
I loved this video!! You guys are so funny!! When Ben was climbing the stairs to go up to the 747 you could hear the fear in his voice! And David when you rode that water ride your scream was hilarious!! I just love you guys! Thank you for these videos! I hope to meet you both on one of my cruises! Thank you again!
I think we would love this type of cruise , especially the scenery. I am in a wheelchair so although it has a lift , I wouldn’t be able to access the top deck , which seems a huge part of the cruise. I always appreciate it when you mention how accessible things are in your videos . Mentioning this really helps , thanks guys .
Otay, when Ben pretended to be a “secret agent”, and David used his “ninja skills”, while Ben did the theme song from Mission Impossible, I laughed so hard, that no sound came out, other then a few nose snorts. And, I almost peed my pants. I do not have real TV, but TH-cam commercial free, and you guys are one of my shows. If I am having a bad day, I watch you guys. You make me smile and laugh. And, your nephews are too cute!!! Thank you for bring useful information, humour, and joy to others. The two of you are a gift to this planet. Keep being your awesome selves.
Hi guys! Wow, what an incredible river cruise. The scenery, sun sets, and food! My husband and I both said we need to do that!!! As always, great information, enjoyable to watch and your personality comes off the screen. You both are the best! ❤
Hi guys. This is my favourite video so far from your channel. Really love the river cruise perspective and the ports were absolutely stunning. Amazing that you could get so close to all the old historic towns right from the port. This really beats ocean cruising 👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙋♂️
What a wonderful river cruise. I went to Boppard,Koblenz on a bus tour back in 80’s I did the chair lift over the vine yards. Beautiful breathtaking views , Only it was my chair that got stuck 😮 yes i am scared of heights they had to get someone to release the clip that was not running over the cable 🫣 never been on a chair lift since . But i loved the Rijn had a fabulous time . Thank you for Taking us a long Safe travels 🥰
Sorry to hear about your dietary problems Ben, I’m diabetic so have to skip all deserts and anything with sugar in, so I feel your pain. Great videos you two are super sweet😊
Ben, your flavour palette will change over time and you’ll discover new favourite comfort foods. Also, have you been introduced to FODMAP? Like vegan options, it is another source of learning about how to live with certain fructose intolerances. The FODMAP diet was developed by a team of researchers at Monash University, and recomended by my partner’s dietitian when he was diagnosed with intolerances to certain foods. It helped me (as the family chef😂) substitute things in our everyday cooking, so he didn’t miss out on too much.
Sorry to hear about the dairy restrictions 😟My daughter is lactose intolerant but if she wants some dairy she takes a lactose pill and she’s good to go. Have you tried something similar? Would love to try a river cruise one day but want to go an ocean cruise first 😁. Great video as usual. Ben, you’re so punny with your funs. 😂
Ask if they tested you for goat & sheep dairy or just cow. The protein triggering an allergic response is different for each animal. Specifically, I found that I can eat sheep & goat cheese which I do on occasion. Also found that I can occasionally tolerate a bit of butter & milk in food once I eliminated all dairy. Took a while for my allergic response to settle down. Aquafaba is great whipping cream substitute and makes a good mousse. Good luck!
Congratulations on your new motorhome. Enjoy your travels until you feel you should stop. You will know when but , in the meantime, have a whale of a time and enjoy every minute. John and I did. He is gone now sadly but I am left with no regrets about the time we spent in our various motorhomes. Xx
Our first cruise was this exact cruise on Amawaterways a few years ago. We will only river cruise, the land, cities, small capacity,, the food, and scenery is so amazing. I actually spent my birthday on the cable ride in Boppard, there were such beautiful views from there. We always pick the top floor in the middle. All these cities were filled with wonderful memories ❤❤
As an American, I have only heard Bubble & Squeak mentioned once and that was in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. That made me chuckle. Thank you for showcasing the river cruise experience. It really is an attractive option to explore.
Back in the day before switching over to commercial photography I shot events. I ended up on one job on a river boat and let me tell you the amount of spiders sent me into crazy town land. Funny enough - I ended up on the same boat a couple of years later as an invite for a party - SAME amount of spiders. EVERYWHERE. Horrid. Guess that's the one good thing about Ocean cruises....Less Spiders lol
Your cabin is lovely. I like the fact you get right into the centre on river cruises but would miss the hussle and bussel of a big cruise ship especially the evening entertainment.
This is the type of cruise that I really want to do. Hopefully, the river levels have recovered since the beginning of the spring. Not too big, not too small.
Hi, Ben and David! I loved this video. No w I am in danger!! I must go on a river cruise. It looks so fantastic!! Thanks for sharing. It was really scary seeing you going to the top of that mountain, but it was really worthy. I would have been very, very scared, but I believe I would have done it.
Never thought doing a river cruise until we viewed your channel! Loyal to one cruise line for 22 years, big and new ships mostly. I am really excited to go on a small ship river cruise now! Thank you Ben and David!! You are the best!!
I know EXACTLY how you feel about heights Ben. Went up a the gondaloa in Queenstown, NZ and I had to sit looking at the side of the hill so I wouldn't have a panic attack seeing how far up we were. ANY sort of movement of that thing sent me into a tizz. No one believes me when I say I'm PETRIFIED of heights. I had roller coasters and stairs too.
I appreciate this video(s) very much. Both my wife and I really enjoy your videos/reviews. There is a Swedish girl (Seafun) who has a great channel about cruise ships and cruises that I think you would like. What I really appreciate about your uploads is your positivity and that you feel very genuine. We have friends who (in contrast to us are almost cruising virgins) have started following you and you can actually brag that you inspired four of our friends (with families) to cruise with Disney Wish. I hope you feel that you are getting that appreciation and love from your followers. You really deserve it / Warmest (3 degrees minus celsius here) greetings Adam from Sweden
Ben - my husband found that lactaid tablets, available in the US in the pharmacy and even grocery stores, allows him to eat things with milk. And in the US before getting some vaccines, we're asked if we're allergic to eggs. It seems some vaccines use eggs as the carrier. Good luck on modifying your eating habits.
My husband and I were stationed in Germany while we were in the Army. We stationed near a very small town. We found that any small town was wonderful and medium sized towns were nice too. My husband is from a town of less than 2000 people. I’m from a variety of big cities to smaller towns and have learned to love smaller sized towns. Edit: it’s nice to hear about the allergen accommodations, as my husband and I got engaged on the Main River and had often dreamed of taking a river cruise there.
I've long been attracted to the idea of a river cruise (especially something like Prague to Budapest, where I could spend a few extra days pre and post cruise in each of the two main cities). The only thing that puts me off a bit is that it seems like one is forced to take ONLY the ship-sanctioned tours. I'm an adult. I also speak a few languages and getting around on my own, and doing things on my own, appeal to me much more than being herded about like some helpless little thing. Is it possible to just get dropped off at whatever town it is, then be told "Be back at the boat by such-and-such o'clock"? That would be an ideal setup for me.
I used to spend some time working in Austria, and LOVED walking down the river after night looking at the river boats - they look just beautiful! The average age on these types of cruises does concern me, but I'd love to give it a go and see what I think for myself - they look absolutely beautiful!
I did a Mekong River Cruise this year and it was amazing. I highly recommend it, but I throw the age average way off. I’m 43 and the other English speakers on board-all four of them were in their late 70s or early 80s. They were fabulous travel companions and it ended up being just fine. We stopped in lots of markets and saw our ship chefs shopping for our dinners along the way!
OMG all the memories from my 1st river cruise last Christmas season just came rushing back! Loved the Tech museum in Speyer. Thanks for sharing your memories and at same time brought something up that me an my mother can talk about for ever; our amazing river cruise. And as always great video. Love all your conte t.✌🏻
Hey Ben and David. Happy Sunday. A 50 minute vid? Oh my. Never been on a river cruise. Didn’t parts can collapse to get under low bridges. The bar where the nightly entertainment is beautiful. 😂😂😂 I’m with Ben. A cookie 🍪 plz. Agree David. Don’t want bugs 🐜 to get into your cabin. The bathroom is lovely indeed. QUESTION: with the drink package. Is there a limit on how many drinks included with meals? That tour is different. Off in one port and on in the next. You know Ben, as we get older our diet tolerances sometimes change. You will adapt. Don’t rub the statues balls 😂😂😂. Lunch looks delish 😋. Yes David. You are right. Hot food on cruises is rare. Pray it’s warm. Omg David. That slide 🛝 ride looked fun. But doesn’t look like a portly person would fit. Just that little bar across you guys on the cable car 🚡? Oh my. Amazing views indeed. No security. Tap in & out. Can bring yummies back to the ship and no seasickness. Thanks for the differences. These towns are gorgeous. Quaint , traditional and inviting. Ben. I did not know vegan was non dairy. Great dinner. Thanks for sharing guys. Have a great week 🤗🛳️
River cruising is my favorite type of cruising in Europe. Live sailing the calm rivers and the views are beautiful. We’re taking a Viking cruise next month on the Seine. Can’t wait!

Hey I’ve got a question the food that they feed you at breakfast, lunch and dinner is it enough to fill you to not crave in between meals.
I may never be able to cruise, with a husband with dementia. Thank you for taking me along. Lovely.
You may never know! Disney does a great job with special needs/requests and perhaps one day care/nurse aids will be common place for vacationers, don't give up! Also VR could be fun to play with and experience. Much love your way!
"Throw me in the river and call me a canoe." Yes, this is what I tune in to hear. Makes me giggle. Thank you! :-)
I've come here to say the same. Too cute, had me laugh out loud. 😍
As a German it makes me really happy how much you enjoy our country, the Rhine is just stunning and I enjoy even go by it by train.
🥰🥰🥰
Love you guys, but I had to laugh wayyy too hard when you said "why is no one younger doing river cruising".... that's because, no one younger can afford $8-$20k pp to do it...
With Riviera the price start from about $3k per person!
@Cruisewith not once converted to AUD they Don't 😉. Keep up the good work though, loved seeing the beautiful scenery I could only ever dream of seeing 🤗
Lmao I wish I could afford $3k pp. maybe if I didn’t have kids. Love living vicariously through you guys though!!
There’s a decent amount of younger people who can (though most can’t as you said) but even if they can, the environment that is created by having probably 95% of the guests be middle aged or older likely turns them away. I wouldn’t mind trying one just for the experience though.

Hey Ben and David! These river cruises of yours are really a fun thing to watch since you go to some really fun places that you might never get too on a cruise ship. Reminds me of the Christmas cruise you took. Cheers!
You guys deserve a TH-cam Emmy. This was FANTASTIC! Thank you!!

Secret Agent we finally can rest in peace, knowing that you are there to protect us! ❤😂

Feel free to do many more river cruises, we will watch them all :D

Family did a Christmas cruise last December with AMA. We went from Basel Switzerland to Amsterdam. Would absolutely do it again in a second!!
I would much rather go on a river cruise than on an ocean one. Thanks for showing us around, it was charming.
I find ocean cruises very intimidating because I’m afraid of open water. I think river cruises would be a good starting point for me.
That journey to the top of the hill was terrifying!! And David, the slide!! Oh my stars, I don't think I would have done either!! And I was giggling a bit about the 747 with exaggerated tilt . . . The cruise looked lovely. Very different from big cruise ships but still really nice. I imagine less children too x
I really enjoyed this video! I am from Heidelberg myself, seeing you explore the city felt so recognizable! So glad you enjoyed it here!
Loved the secret agent!
This is my favorite video you guys have done..I love you both and enjoy all your videos but this one was amazing!! thank you both!!
What a great overview of river cruising. I love the length of you videos, they are so detailed. Thank you both for taking us along again on your adventures! PS, Ben I wish you well on your new eating lifestyle. You got this!!
Your cabin is lovely and that bathroom is fantastic! 😊
"Throw me in a river, and call me a canoe". That is the best one yet!!
My very first cruise 1976 was a river cruise with the same ports. I loved Boppard! So cute! Enjoy👍🤩🥰😎
Its nice see you two back. You have been missed.
Loving the idea of the river cruises! I did a Nile cruise 15 yrs ago and this reminded me of that, a pet for absence of mummies, tombs and sand!
David screaming like a girl on that ride was hysterical. Thanks for the laugh. Love all your videos!!
Hugs
This is what attracts me. A small river run on one of these or a private canal boat. No overly big monster with crowds. No “bells and whistles.”
That was awesome, we used to live in Germany, so it was so nice to see all the beautiful scenery along the Rhine. We visited many castles when we lived there. Thanks!!
Sitting at the back of the ship, with an Aperol, a book and a cigarette.
Can’t imagine anything more relaxing.
I hope you can find something suitable and nice for you
Love you guys. You always put a smile on my face on a Sunday. Beautiful scenery, the whole experience looks great. Keep up the good work 👋
Otay, when Ben pretended to be a “secret agent”, and David used his “ninja skills”, while Ben did the theme song from Mission Impossible, I laughed so hard, that no sound came out, other then a few nose snorts.
Leaving tomorrow for a Viking river cruise in Europe on the rhine ,so excited 😜
Hi guys! Wow, what an incredible river cruise. The scenery, sun sets, and food! My husband and I both said we need to do that!!! As always, great information, enjoyable to watch and your personality comes off the screen. You both are the best! ❤
Where I'm from Welsh rarebit is melted cheese on toast.
Came to say the same! Spinach....never heard of that; it's always a slice of Cheese on Toast! 😁
Thank you for the Inspiration. We will be adding a river cruise to our travel bucket list. Love you guys
So enjoyed that guys. A big thank you! Brought back so many memories of those lovely towns and castles.
I enjoyed our river cruise in Egypt. Think i like the smaller cruise ships more.
27:30 - When that box opens… whispers ”Jesus Christ” 😂 Also unaware of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s classic “Sweet Home Avocado “ 😂
Who do you like cruising with Riviera or Viking? I would love to see you guys go on more river cruises. You posts are so informative! Love your work.
Great video! That river cruise looks awesome.
As an American, I have only heard Bubble & Squeak mentioned once and that was in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. That made me chuckle. Thank you for showcasing the river cruise experience. It really is an attractive option to explore.
Oh! That missing chairlift chair was a bike rack!
I watched this video again (8 months later). It is still quite enjoyable. 😊
This is the type of cruise that I really want to do. Hopefully, the river levels have recovered since the beginning of the spring. Not too big, not too small.
Lovely ❤ I love the graphic at the end that says, 'Thanks for watching.' Just so you know, some of us pay attention to detail and appreciate it, too 😊
We are taking Viking's Christmas Markets Cruise Nov/Dec. Can't wait!!
I can't have milk either - coconut milk is one of my favorite replacement milks for coffee + also cooking
I used to spend some time working in Austria, and LOVED walking down the river after night looking at the river boats - they look just beautiful! The average age on these types of cruises does concern me, but I'd love to give it a go and see what I think for myself - they look absolutely beautiful!
I've dreamt of a river cruise through Europe. Amazing. ❤😊
So cool! I've been binging your channel lately. Love all the detail you go into.
That was the quickest 50 minutes I've had the pleasure to watch. I was so engrossed, your ending came as a surprise.
This was such fun!! Thanks guys💕💕
Can’t wait!
