Bought these yesterday and they are a solid upgrade from the Gen 1s. I use mine every day for commuting and also at work on calls. The noise cancelling is a noticeable upgrade and I like the extra bass on the sound. Walked around a busy city centre yesterday with no music and it really did dampen more sound. Been playing music and podcasts today. See what the microphones sound like tomorrow on some Teams calls and how they handle the train on the commute.

The transparency mode is so realistic in the new pods 2 I actually had a moment today thinking that I didn’t have them on today. Compared to my old one
The Apple Watch app currently only shows the reduced volume level when using the new pros. When you had the original ones in it was just telling you how loud the environment was.
Yeah thanks for pointing this out, I was scratching my head about whether the watch factored in the AirPods Pro 1 gen for sound level. Just wearing them probably cuts the noise level from 60 to 40.
@@AaronFigFront or 10x for every 10 decibels. So if the airpod pro 2 is 30 db and the 1 is 60 db. Then the noise volume in the AirPods Pro 1 would be larger by a factor of 1000. 😂
To my ears, the audio quality actually is significantly better than the original pros, and I actually enjoy the sound out of the originals. Worthy upgrade for sure
The outside mic comparison was the key reason i'm off to go grab some of these now. I think the sound quality was very noticeable. Thanks for the solid review.
I got a pair of AirPods Max just under a year ago. I really liked how they sounded but I found them a bit hot on my head for extended wear. Then, a while ago, I tried some Nothing Ear (1)’s and was pleasantly surprised by how they sounded. Although the AirPods Max sounded much better, the convenience of reaching for the Nothing ear buds meant that the AP Max got very little use. So I decided to take the plunge and buy some AP Pro 2’s on launch day and I’m blown away by them.
Just ordered a pair today. Have had a pair of the old Gen2’s since 2020, and while I absolutely love how well they consistently pair, I use the train a lot and am fed up with having to crank the volume up to the max in order to drown out the noise! Very much looking forward to spatial audio too 😊
I am very impressed with the ANC on the new Pros. It’s almost as good as my xm4. They are much more comfortable too, no more vacuum feeling in ears. They feel more like regular AirPods. Definitely worth the upgrade! Hopefully, Apple doesn’t turn down the ANC with software updates like they did with AirPods Pro 1st gen.
omg i thought i was the only one, when i got my airpods pro 1 before, i was so amazed by anc but now it's just meh. maybe i got used to it? or maybe apple lowered it down idk
@@collectedmoments They actually did it. Apparently, some people were having headaches because the anc was too strong. Why not give us a choice? I guess that’s what Apple always does. Pro 2 are very good! The best in class (for my ears).
You mentioned everything except one thing: when I'm wearing AirPods Pro 2 while riding a bike with Transparency mode on, it automatically cuts out the wind noise. I've watched many videos on TH-cam, but no one has covered this. Now, I’m not sure if this is a feature of Transparency mode or a bug in my AirPods, Whenever I ride a bike or sit directly in front of a table fan, it cancels out the wind noise, similar to Adaptive mode.
Good review, I always like how you review as a user would use them. I got mine yesterday upgrading from original Pro’s and think they are worth the upgrade. The sound quality while listening to classical / soundtrack music is so much better. People have mentioned on phone calls that they sound so much better and one person couldn’t believe I was in a shopping high street, very little background noise on the call.
Upgraded from the AirPods 3rd Gen to these and I’m blown away by the audio quality and noise cancelling. Usually not a fan of rubber tipped earbuds but these don’t give me that high pressure build-up feeling
Bought a pair today. First time using AirPods. Was a little hesitant to buy these because I generally have issues keeping earbuds in my left ear unless it has wing tips. Heard a lot of people complaining about the fit. To my pleasant surprise, they fit really well and don’t fall out. My only minor gripe is that I wish they pumped out just a bit more bass for music, but that’s just nit picking. Overall, first impressions, I’m very happy with them so far.
I had 1st gen AirPods Pro for a while but I could never get a good fit with any of the eartips, the buds always threatened to fall out after a short while
@@aocxe not quite, the dB scale is logarithmic, therefore a 10dB increase will double the perceived volume, so 10-20 dB will be barely noticeable, but 80-90 is a HUGE increase

@@tristanhawkins8699 for sure, I am planning on getting one. I have the Samsung watch and I loved it when I had my android. So I can only imagine how much better the Apple watch will be.
Very good review. I have seen sooo many reviews on these, but you are the only one who have said anything about the different speeds when you charge in different ways. And you are the only one who has done the volumetest on the applewatch. Didnt know the watch recorded the sound through the earbudgs when they are connected.
This is an excellent review of what to expect, and the microphone quality is far better in the 2nd generation. Trying to figure out if my are defective due to two things: 1. They constantly drop/cut out when I use them on my Macbook playing TH-cam videos. They don't seem to drop when using with my iPhone. 2. There is a lot of crackling when playing back from Audacity. It's not in the recording, my other monitors have confirmed.
Picked up a set of these and I’m loving them so far. Didn’t have the previous AirPods Pro, but used other brands. Looking forward to seeing what they are like on a flight compared to the Bose 700’s which are amazing for flights.
I have to say the upgrade from original AirPods to these ones is amazing I have beats as well and these are the first earphones I haven’t had to adjust when in the gym or training. Happy I’ve made the upgrade and thanks for the good review 👍🏼
It looks like the microphone performance and noise cancellation are significantly better with the 2nd gen airpods pro. I already have a gen 1 set and i am not sure if i have to replace it with the new ones. I think i will skip the change and try the new ones when the gen 1s’ battery gets worse. (If on that day the 3rd gen isn’t introduced 😊).
Interesting review. Just to be a bit picky the Db (decibel scale) is logarithmic so halving the noise is a reduction of 3db so a reduction of 30db is a massive reduction
I personally upgraded for the sound quality alone and it was totally worth it. The bass is so much fuller, treble sounds clearer, wider sound stage, not to mention all the other improvements with noise cancelation, spatial audio, battery life, etc. Worth the upgrade from the old pros imo
I have heard that Bluetooth 5.3 has improved audio for the AirPods Pro 2. Since iPhone 14 can do this now, could you please do a sound test between the iPhone 13 versus the 14 to see if there is a difference?
What I've noticed about the ANC on these, is that sometimes they compensate for bad fit on one ear, I could pull one earbud out a little bit and it adjusts, thus giving me equal ANC in both ears, it really is a game changer compared to 1st gen, my left earhole is a bit bigger than the right one.
I have just recently upgraded to the 14 Pro Max and use a set of Bose Sound Sport Wired Earphones. I’m looking at swapping them out for the AirPods Pro 2 at a later date, I want to be able to have a pair of ear buds that work in conjunction with the features on my phone.
Mines arrived yesterday after having had the first GEN for little over a year. my baby’s baby ( my dog’s puppy ) somehow got a hold of them last week and destroyed them so I had no choice. So far I must say I’m loving them!
The one thing I’m looking for, which every reviews fails to really talk about, is how well the microphone works in noisy atmospheres. I drive a truck, so I would LOOOOVE to be able to lose my big headset with microphone piece. Just using an earbud is so much more comfortable but most do not work, or work poorly to have a normal conversation while driving a truck. I wish you would do a more comprehensive test on the microphone.
Q. I listen to my FireTV with my original Airpods Pro, and there is no way to alter the volume. Does the volume control of the new AirPods Pro work with non-Apple BT devices?
The extra small ear tip is a life saver for my ears. I can now comfortably use them. At times when touching the left AirPod while noise cancellation is on I still notice a tiny bit of sound escaping but I just snug it a lil bit and it’s all good. So safe to say my left ear has a problem with silicone ear tips😅. Safe to say these are one of the best earphones.
I didnt think videos “Shot on iPhone” looked this great!!!!makes so much sense for reviewers to do, i think everyone should be doing it, well done for executing it so well
I’m definitely going to upgrade when my current AirPods die. I think they Omar’s on the verge of it because one of them keeps bugging out every now and then. They are also dying faster.
Ok, I love ya Tech Chap and enjoy all of your reviews - keep up the great work. That being said... I ended up upgrading from the OGs to the APP2s and I have to say that (and I know you gave a disclaimer) that the sound in the 2s are way way better with more lows and better mids. I am surprised that you only thought it was 5-10% better (7:25 minute mark). I almost didn't buy them from that comment alone but so glad I did. To each his own. Carry on and thanks for all you do.
The great thing about the new AirPods Pro 2nd gen is that they still sound very dynamic even at lower volumes. I had to increase the volume on the first gen to get decent bass and impact. Should save my ears and allow for even better battery performance.
No offense I really don’t understand why people like the sound quality of these so much! Bass is definitely not on the solid side, mid is kind of muddy and anything high is just bad you can literally hear the distortion when you just turn up the volume a bit. It is so sad to see that apple nailed everything other than sound quality :( I would’ve ditch my PI7 and switch to this immediately if it wasn’t for the sound quality.
Ive had the first gen since day one (although had them replaced once, and the replacements repaired). I had no interest in the new ones, but you know what YT is like. I am very happy with the new ones. I noticed a bit more low end right from the start. Not ‘Beats low end’, but fuller. I dont really use Spatial Audio for music, but even that sounds a bit better. The new ANC was the real deciding factor, and so far im not disappointed. I use them at work when using certain machine, and today i could definitely hear a big difference with the new ones. After months of using the old ones with this machine, today i hear much less of it.
I just bought these only to realize that I might not be able to use them. I have an old iPhone X that has the screen defect that makes the very left side of the screen not work. To make it usable, I had to keep it on an old iOS version (13.3) and jailbreak it so I can put it it in a one-handed mode. If I update it I simply won’t be able to use the phone, so does anyone know the minimum iOS version these bad boys will work on ? Thanks :’)
You should test the airpods pro 2 on a windy day.. Riding bicycle against and with the wind.. Terrible earbuds.. So much wind noise, in noise cancelling mode too.. Really not worth the high price unless they fix this issue.. Anyone else bothered with this issue?
I have upgraded from Airpods 2 (2018) and im blown away. Bass is OP in comparison with 2018 Airpods. Other features are cool too. But i think that the charging case loosing battery too fast.
@@cyberstonks Thanks for the tip but i just deleted it from find my but they are still visible there… its annoying to loosing about 3% battery every hour without touching them.
Great review, yes I also upgraded myself to an AirPods Pro 2nd. One question, is the slitghly blured surroundings, is it a feature in the iPhone 14? Ricardo from Tokyo out.
I come from Galaxy Buds 2 & Galaxy Buds Pro. From my opinion, after having the Airpods Pro 2 for a few days, I can definitely tell you guys that is missing a lot of base, I hope they can add an option or something so you can adjust it to be higher.
I own both pair and I will disagree completely with the audio sound quality. The second gen are way better than the first ones. The dynamic equalizer that adjusts to the type of audio track being played is crazy good. The sound strange on the pro 2’s is wider and more is definitely heard.
I hope the quality in 2.gen is improved. I'm currently waiting my pods to come back from service for the third time. ANC is the problem, without it the buds worked well.
Great review! I am having a hard time choosing between airpods pro 2 and airpods max. The problem with in ears is they develop ear infection sometimes (I clean them I am just prone) but the airpods max they said is too heavy. I will use it primarily for travels, movies. But if I can also use it for work (online job requires me to talk to customers) it would also be better. Hard to choose! I wish they would release an airpods max 2nd gen that is lighter
From what I understand, the second gen are a wonderful upgrade from the previous non-Pro AirPods, but if you have the gen 1s, you probably don’t need to switch just yet.
I had the originals as my daily headphones for work. I bought the new ones as a reward for passing my CPA exams a few weeks ago. The new ones are great but it’s not life changing so the new ones aren’t 100% needed if you have gen 1s!
@@teiomat5557 Would you say the noise cancelling is twice as good? I use mine or airplanes all the time and, as people and babies seem to get louder and whinier every day, a significantly better noise cancelling performance would make me want toupgrade...
@@ScreaminEmu tbh the noise cancelling is wayyy better. It works best with constant sounds as well so cabin noise would be minimal. Once you get the music up with the noise cancelling on you can’t hear a damn thing
Good review. Getting mine hopefully tomorrow. Will be able to also compare. For me, I use them every day, so an enhanced transparency mode and enhanced noise cancellation are enough to justify the upgrade. But we’ll see what I really think. If not, I’ll return them.
I use these for cycling outside and wind noise is much worse on the second generation. There must be a new vent that allows in wind noise. ANC doesn’t help either. The 1st generation work much better outside in the wind.
I have a relatively small ear. I once tried the normal AirPods 3 and they were quite big. Is there any chance AirPods 2 pro won’t fit ,even with xsmall size ?

I didnt think videos “Shot on iPhone” looked this great!!!!makes so much sense for reviewers to do, i think everyone should be doing it, well done for executing it so well
What are the features I'm gonna be missing if I'm using these with an android phone?
I’m definitely going to upgrade when my current AirPods die. I think they Omar’s on the verge of it because one of them keeps bugging out every now and then. They are also dying faster.
I appreciate that you covered the microphones on these. I hope they will sound better when I'm on zoom calls or phone calls.
People keep saying they notice the noise cancelation being better, I don’t notice any difference
Ist Gen Airpods Pros are now £189 on Amazon, still very very good for an ordinary person.
should it worth to save money? i’m confused..
If you have money to spend $189 then just save for the 2nd gen. Or just wait till they release a 3rd gen AirPods pro
@@jamesmacharia3116 yes but should i go for airpods pro 1st generation?
Now the gen 2s are at that price.
@@afkyatogami everything you said is absolutely not true
@@roguegorilla8981 Maybe you just never tried anything better or just couldn’t tell the difference
@@afkyatogami almost every opinion ive heard has been the opposite of yours though. even audiophiles have said the sound quality is pretty good. odd.
@@xykane well everyone got different ears lol
Ive had the first gen since day one (although had them replaced once, and the replacements repaired). I had no interest in the new ones, but you know what YT is like. I am very happy with the new ones. I noticed a bit more low end right from the start. Not ‘Beats low end’, but fuller. I dont really use Spatial Audio for music, but even that sounds a bit better. The new ANC was the real deciding factor, and so far im not disappointed. I use them at work when using certain machine, and today i could definitely hear a big difference with the new ones. After months of using the old ones with this machine, today i hear much less of it.
What machine you working with?
mine was replaced too, so I sold it for a good price and get the pro 2
Wow, this was actually an easily relatable and useful review. Nice dude.
Bro, before, I buy any tech, I first have to cross check with your videos!! Your reviews are really helpful and well explained!!!
That means a lot! Thanks John!
I have them and so far I’m super happy. Better ANC, little better audio, longer battery life. I’m a happy camper.
Yep agreed!
But i think that the charging case loosing battery too fast.
probably due to find my device. u can turn it off to save battery
@@cyberstonks
Thanks for the tip but i just deleted it from find my but they are still visible there… its annoying to loosing about 3% battery every hour without touching them.
Great review, yes I also upgraded myself to an AirPods Pro 2nd. One question, is the slitghly blured surroundings, is it a feature in the iPhone 14? Ricardo from Tokyo out.
What kind of ears you got that the felt the same to you? They changed the shape, they are much more comfortable, and more secure!
Can you check if the xs tips are backwards compatible? Planning on getting those for my 1st generation
I come from Galaxy Buds 2 & Galaxy Buds Pro. From my opinion, after having the Airpods Pro 2 for a few days, I can definitely tell you guys that is missing a lot of base, I hope they can add an option or something so you can adjust it to be higher.
Just bought airpods pro 2 today. Anc has been significantly improved. Music quality i dont find much difference from regular aripods pro
should I buy the iPhone 14 if I never use any smartphone before or not?
Great review man! I bought mine today after watching this! Big thanks!
Are these better than the new Huawei freebuds pro 2?
Great review! I was skeptical of purchasing the 2nd gen as I am not unhappy with the original pro but you convinced me. So TY!
Oh that simulation effect was awesome
😉
Great review! I am having a hard time choosing between airpods pro 2 and airpods max. The problem with in ears is they develop ear infection sometimes (I clean them I am just prone) but the airpods max they said is too heavy. I will use it primarily for travels, movies. But if I can also use it for work (online job requires me to talk to customers) it would also be better. Hard to choose! I wish they would release an airpods max 2nd gen that is lighter
I'm gonna buy this one day! Kinda hate to admit it but Apple really nailed it with this one.
You are in the top list of youtube reviewers 🔥👍 Because of your brilliant content
I’m upgrading from the non-pros, I’ll let you know how I like them. Going to the second generation pros.
How does the iPhone know what engraving you have on the case? Does apple program it when you engrave it? I think that's pretty cool.
Yeah! Very clever
Adaptive transparency is not only for new model air pod pros but but even the old model air pod pros. With the 16.1 update coming
Does the AirPod case still get scratched up easily?
Good review. Getting mine hopefully tomorrow. Will be able to also compare. For me, I use them every day, so an enhanced transparency mode and enhanced noise cancellation are enough to justify the upgrade. But we’ll see what I really think. If not, I’ll return them.
What’s the fit like compared too the 1st gen ? I just couldn’t get them too stay in my ears, the XS tips might suit me better but unsure
I use these for cycling outside and wind noise is much worse on the second generation. There must be a new vent that allows in wind noise. ANC doesn’t help either. The 1st generation work much better outside in the wind.
How do the bass compare to the first generation? I was not impressed with the first ones because of that.
Your monitor looks so cool!!
You definitely deserve more subscribers, you are amazing
First review I've seen that does a proper mic test and mentions that the mic array is the same as last gen. Thank you!
Nice review, subbed!
The extra small ear tip makes a huge difference for me, I don’t even feel like I have anything in my ear!
I have a relatively small ear. I once tried the normal AirPods 3 and they were quite big. Is there any chance AirPods 2 pro won’t fit ,even with xsmall size ?
@@Hardala there is a chance if your ears are super tiny but it’s rare to have ears that small I think it would fit
Anyone know if the annoying earwax issue got fixed?
Are you using a cover for your airpod pros? Just got mine and was wondering if it’s recommended? The bad point is just that most covers make them quite bulky and don’t support mag safe…
Did you shoot the whole video with
an i phone?
I notice that the edge detection is not that a real camera level.
However the quality is so good.
They are more loud too, that's a really pleasant surprise.
If you want to check sound quality better, compare them listening to Eagles - Hotel California.
The old mic sounds better than gen 2
How do these compare to airpod max in terms of noise cancellation?
