Today, I lifted the rear of the Beetle and rotated one wheel in all gears. When I rotate one wheel, the other turns in the opposite direction at the same speed. However, in neutral and 3rd gear, when I spin one wheel, the other turns much slower. Does this mean that 3rd gear is engaged? If so, how can I disengage 3rd gear without removing the transmission? because i have problem when in neutral and i want to move the car in the garage the engine spins . i shifted gears with no oil in the transmission many times , maybe thats the cause of it
Looks like this swing-axle was converted from early model gears over to 002 late model gears and 72 case (an excellent choice in my opinion!). I look forward to the rest of the build! Subd
A scissor jack works good for pushing the pinion out
Great idea!
