    I'm struggling so bad with this in school now. My vertical down isn't much better.
    Jody, thank you for showing your instructions in real time, not time lapse. This really helps me with pacing.
    I know that when I'm in the booth again, I will get uptight and start going too fast here, pausing too long there, but I have this video bookmarked and can go back to it time and again, as much as needed.

      I was TERRIBLE the first 8 weeks of welding school. Me and this other student were constantly in competition of who was worst in the class. It was so aggravating to weld for 4 hours a day, 4 days a week, and to suck so bad. Then, school had a forced a break for two weeks, and, when I came back, all of that knowledge somehow settled in my head, making me much better. By the end of school, I was one of the top 4 students in my class. That other student didn't pass. When I was screaming in my booth for months but putting in the work, he was on his phone. Work ethic makes a HUGE difference. For me, my anxiety would have me rush, which caused a lot of mistakes. I learned to develop a beat in my breathing, and then I matched my welding movements to my breathing. Once I had travel speed down and I could see my puddle/knew how my puddle was supposed to look, I started to experiment with welding patterns (circles, zig-zags, C's, etc...). When I found the pattern that worked best for me, I stuck to it and developed that muscle memory.
      You'll get it, bud! Try to be more lenient with yourself and have speak positive thoughts in your head. Welding is hard! But, lots of practice teaches you how to work with it. :D

    A lot of these vids are nice but as a boilermaker our tests cannot have and weaves for our tests for common arc. Some do and get away with it by hiding it with stringer caps though

    I can do that with an arc welder, but every time I've tried with a mig it's looked like a forged turd. Is tgat a pulse setting? I have a hobart handler 210 at home and i can not get it to go up. Even the welders at work, i can't do it and i haven't seen anyone that could. It all just runs out of the puddle making globs. Sad part is I'm even a certified welder.

  • @calholli
    @calholli ปีที่แล้ว

    If you pause at 3:38.. What are those little droplets on the weld that look like moisture? I don't think I've ever seen that before. Granted my mig is just a little flux core Hobart and I've never used gas. Are those droplets just slag or impurities? What is that??

    • @davedarling6512

      silicon from the wire floating impurities up to the top of the weld.

    When Welding 20mm thich carbon steel plate,what amperage is recommended for the vertical fillet weld?

    • @VypaGaming
      @VypaGaming 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd weld 20mm thick carbon steel horizontally not vertically. But if u really wanna do it, maybe try 30 volts vertical down pulling the gun not pushing it on a root pass then a cap run on like 19 volts or something for a vertical up pushing the gun cap run. But on the root run u need to move quickly
