Everyone held out hope that she would be found safe, but when the little girl was discovered murdered it kicked off one of the largest manhunts in Toronto history.
In this episode, the lead homicide detectives reveal the tactics used to catch Holly’s killer. And Holly’s mother shares memories of her daughter - and her family’s efforts to fight child pornography.

@@BonnietheOutlaw7 I'm Canadian. He meets dangerous offender criteria. Those people receive indefinite prison terms. The individual I know who is a dangerous offender has been in prison for over 15 years for SA of a child - he also planned to kidnap her at a later date but was unable to. He will never get out of prison. The same should be true for the killer of Holly Jones. He did everything that dangerous offender did, only worse.

Her plea deal said she had to disclose everything. She lied and violated her agreement. I will never understand why the didn't void the deal after she lied. Shame on them! Born and raised in Toronto, I remember this story so well. Very happy to hear that Holly's brother James has gone to Bereaved Families of Ontario/Toronto. I am a co-facilitator with BFO/Toronto, as I have lost my mother in the same year as Holly. My Mom's death was a high profile case as well in Toronto in that year. Grieving never ends - even 19 years later - and my thoughts and prayers are with your family always. RIP Beautiful Angel. You're Never forgotten. Don't worry Maria, my Mom's with Holly. We watched the news of your daughter together and my Mom had teared up. I know she's taking care of your little girl.

@@BeBrave13 Hi, yes, my Mom was the first nurse who died from SARS in Canada in June 2003. Her name was Nelia Laroza. Thank you so much. My Mom and I were watching the news when Holly was abducted just weeks before my Mom got sick. My Mom was holding her rosary praying and praying Holly would be found safe, but when we saw the news a few days later -- it was horrible. It hits so close to home, because it's In Toronto, you know? We think we're safe at home, but we're not. I remember my Mom crying with Holly Mom when she was pleading for her to come home. It hit my Mom hard when she heard the news. Then weeks later (May 23, 2003), she got SARS from the second outbreak and passed on June 29th, 2003. My last phone call with her, she was crying and on her way to ICU and she said something along the lines of always be careful when you're out and I know she was thinking of Holly. I hope the Holly's family knows that grieving comes in waves and that they are able to grieve in peace and the media leaves them alone too. Grieving is your OWN journey. No one can tell you otherwise. Grieving is so intimate, and when it's all over the news, it's harder to heal. We never get over the pain, but we do get used to it. Sending love to all and please be safe. I hope Holly's family knows they are very supported and loved. My Mom's 19th death anniversary is coming up this week, and then Holly's story came on and I watch Crime Beat because Netflix has gotten boring - but when I saw Holly's story, all of everything that happened in Spring/Summer 2003 came flooding back. My Mom was so affected by Holly's abduction. I know they're together and she's with Holly right now. My Mom was the best Mom ever (to me and my brother Kenneth) and I hope Maria knows Holly's with her and taking care of her.

I was 6 and coming home when a bigger kid with at least a foot and 50 pounds on me just grabbed me and threw me into a pile of snow.
There could've been a fire hydrant under there. Just picked me and head first into a pile of snow.
Then he left. I could barely breathe. Took me a very long time to slowly wiggle my way out. It was dark by then.
      I could fill a book.
If you had good parents count yourself lucky cause some of us didnt.

Rest In Peace sweet HJ. I did not know this family personally but remember this tragedy and attending a part of the funeral as support. No one truly understands one's pain unless you've experienced such loss yourself. I'm hoping over the years this family has been able to find solace in prayer as they continue to heal. I'm truly sorry this happened. Credit to the detectives that resolved this crime with such few leads. Local police depts continue to fight against these acts of violence and rely on their communities to support them during the process. We know that rehabilitation for criminals is important, however justice for victims matters more. It has been almost one decade in Ontario since Bill-C-26 passed to amend the criminal code and sex offender information registration act. This legislation is important ongoing as communities need to be kept informed in order to be vigilant and safe. Longer sentencing and institutionalizing people for crimes related to sexual violence should never be considered a crime.

I made sure .. if we walk up and could not be invited in and visit even 10 min or they said they had any reason we did not let them go.. anyone who thinks they need to prepare we do not care about how messy or anything... we want to meet our kids friends parents.
