    In the world of Minecraft, recent updates to the Minecraft Usage Guidelines / EULA have sparked controversy. Mojang and Microsoft's tightened grip on monetization, usage, and gameplay methods has divided the community. Some dismiss it as insignificant, while others see it as apocalyptic. Join us as we dissect the impact of these changes. In this video, we dissect the new Minecraft Usage Guideline changes. These changes are a blatant power grab from a company who want the freedom to enforce their arbitrary chokehold rules however they want to.

      @12:00 It's potentially worse. Content creators who upload Minecraft videos and anywhere within that video provide links or self-promotion for merch raise questions as to whether that qualifies as marketing products or brands unrelated to Minecraft. Does Mojang/Microsoft have the power, by this section, to take down content that is tied to a content creator raising money through support of their channel by merch?

      @@GottablastJimbo They are literally saying you can't put "Minecraft" in a video title. LOL and you're defending that?
      The entire Minecraft brand exists to profit off of children. They make billions of dollars selling merch, license deals, selling the game, micro transactions, and more.
      The only thing they are worried about is getting cancelled because of a server having a bad rep. and it affecting their bottom line. Microsoft is a for profit mega corporation and they do not give a fuck about you, LMFAO! You are completely delusional buddy.
      The sad part is, back in the day, Notch made the decision to make Minecraft one of the first games where the community could ALSO profit, instead of just him. Microsoft has slowly chipped away and eroded at that.

      Wow, get out from under your rock, then. Hahaha. What you see here is basically how society operates. Here's a devs-mojang-microsoft dynamic, and it's just that IRL the chain is bigger a lot more complex. But it's all the same, in that the more up the chain you go, the more sociopaths there are and the less human they are. Eventually it being full blown psychos that treat humans as cattle and use them as such. Though a step higher there are bureaucratic permissive ET's with questionable morality who control the layers below, but that's a whole another story.
      For the mister @rayvaul3539 here, it's funny that you proselytize, because the religions are the control mechanisms of the very same cabal you're talking about, *smiling face*. For the people to believe in god, in external power to come and save them, and not in themselves, who are the creators of their reality. That is, besides all other bullshit, ahem, convenient teachings, like that part in the bible where it explicitly said to pay taxes to the (roman) Emperor. Or the rewritten section about reincarnation and making suicide a sin, because too many people were killing themselves to escape the harsh rule of the church. Yeh, so much for that, what a trusty book.

      Dead laws, being laws that aren't actually enforced, have been increasing in number all throughout the west, as have usage terms for products all over.

    This is why "legalese", despite the bad reputation it gets from the public, is actually really important and exists at all. Broad language used by normal people is not precise enough to allow for clear limits on activity or rules. I am disappointed with the direction microsoft has taken regarding minecraft. They are dismantling the very things that allowed minecraft to grow and flourish back in the early 2010s. A relaxed, lasseiz faire approach to rules and user content allows the maximum amount of freedom for all ages. It will lead to extremes, but it will also mean a stronger community overall.

      In property law, possession is an important factor when it comes to establishing who owns a piece of land. For example, if two people both claim ownership of the same piece of land, the one with physical possession will have prima facie ownership. This means that the other person must provide evidence to refute this claim in order for their ownership to be legally recognized.
      Possession In Legal Disputes
      In legal disputes, possession can also be important when it comes to proving who has the right to something. For example, if two people are arguing over a piece of property, the one with physical possession has a strong argument for ownership.
      Limitations Of Possession Is Nine-Tenths Of The Law
      It is important to note that although the phrase “possession is nine-tenths of the law” is still commonly used, it does not mean that possession gives someone absolute authority over something. In many cases, legal documents must be provided to prove ownership and establish rights over something. Therefore, possession alone does not always guarantee that someone has complete control over an item or piece of property.

Its like Unity charging for API access because Twitter and Reddit did, when they dont have the first clue on what types of API you should charge access for, or how to even charge for API access properly. Mojang saw a business potential that their community is advancing on, and wants to integrate it into their game- Its what happened with skins, it happened with private servers, it will happen with every facet of the game until everyone hates it, and that is my honest unbridled opinion- I just think they do not know when to stop, and I dont think they know how to improve the business side of things. Troublemakers and bigots were banned without hesitation, but Mojang didn't trust it enough and repeatedly kept trying to blacklist it. The server owners were still able to keep up the IP and circumvent Mojang's takedown attempts, but after the server was done and the event was over, Microsoft quite literally shadow banned everyone including my friend. They were permanently locked out of their Microsoft accounts and contacting support resulted in a "sorry but we can't help you", causing them to not only make new Microsoft accounts but to rebuy Minecraft. It's time for people to start giving Minetest a proper chance. I've been trying different games made with it this past week or two and it is quite solid and has so much more potential than MC when it comes to what modders can accomplish all the way up to making entirely new games. It has a few rough edges, but it wouldn't take much to get a lot of those ironed out.

    • @YeOldeAccount27
      @YeOldeAccount27 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Maybe, but consider this: The name "minetest" is pretty obviously based on the trademarked brand/logo of "Minecraft." Sure, it's not the same font and all. But then pair it with the fact that it's for a game that is obviously based on Minecraft and you have a trademark lawsuit waiting to happen. And if Minetest gets popular enough, Microsoft/Mojang could argue that it is causing significant confusion between the two games and have a good chance at winning a lawsuit. This is, of course, assuming that the Minetest developers would be willing to spend the time and money needed to fight a lawsuit like this. More likely Mojang would issue a cease and desist and Minetest would have to shut down.
      TLDR: While Minecraft-inspired fangames generally go under the radar enough for Mojang not to care, if any of them become a serious enough competitor they could be attacked by Microsoft. I'd agree that it would be a very slimey move by Microsoft, but from a strictly legal perspective they have the right to do it.

    • @Uradamus
      @Uradamus 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@YeOldeAccount27 Minetest has been around for about 13 years now (only a few years shy of MC itself) and it is a game engine, so not in direct competition with Minecraft. If they were to go after anyone, it would be those who've made MC clones with it, such as the aptly named Mine Clone 2 and a fork of that by the name of Mineclonia (which is probably the best of the bunch when it comes to vanilla MC alternatives).
      But even then, all the popular clones are free and open source and all the assets are original - new models and textures - and there are even a bunch of small changes in mechanics that keep it distinct enough that anyone who's played both can instantly tell the difference.
      There are also a bunch of games that just use the voxel low poly pixel art aesthetic and do their own all new original games that aren't trying to copy MC. Glitch is one of the best ones I've tried so far, that is sort of a 3d platformer set in cyberspace.
      There is also a Backrooms game that is pretty neat. Out of the box it is just a walking sim where you explore backrooms style random map generations in several different styles, looking out for purple doors that will take you to another one of those map styles. But you can add mods to it to add some survival horror elements to it if you want.
