Apologies all, I had to reupload this one as there was a sound issue with the version I uploaded yesterday. A big thanks to everyone who helped the last video to reach 1k likes. Let's see if we can hit that number again on this one!
I will be there in November 2022. I can't wait! Your video helps me a lot to have an idea of what I'm up to. Do they accept dollars or do I have to change money. I love to buy souvenirs and handmade things. Thank you.
Jason, this is the best Petra tour I've seen - it is so cool to finally get such a thorough tour of the whole vast area. You're such a thoughtful and modest traveller, which is SO refreshing. You have never sensationalized anything - kudos and thank you. You're the Rick Steve's of your generation and more! Keep em' coming.
This was absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for showing the other incredible tombs. Having those silent shots throughout the video made it feel like I was there too. 😍
This is the first time I have seen the walk through the Siq. It was really exciting to watch you wander towards the Treasury. Normally this part is not shown, yet it has so much beauty in it's own right. Also I agree with all the comments regarding the rest of your video. Always so worth watching your reports Jason. Thank you
We went to Petra 12 years ago I will never forget walking around the corner and seeing the treasurey amazing place thank you for bringing back wonderful memories
As fabulous video! So nice to see Petra without the throngs of tourists! The real grandeur of Petra can be enjoyed at a setting like this.....vast emptiness all around!
Thank you, Jason, for allowing me to ‘visit’ somewhere that I’m unlikely to get to see in person. A very informative video with some spectacular shots. You really captured the atmosphere of the place. Wishing you safe onward travels.
I very much like your videos that I always find it short, and as always watching your videos are like I'm there at the place. It's really stunning tombs and ancient architecture and so colorful. I'll be always thankful to you for your wonderful videos. 💕
Amazing to see Petra again. I lived in Jordan 77-81 and visited Petra several times. Back in those days there were fewer people there than when you walked in Petra. There was no town, only 2 simple rest houses.
That was a great video of Petra I can see what you would mean to be at a peaceful moment. Maybe like Echart Tolley would. Well very nice. Echart is from England also
Awesome video, Jason. You really presented Petra well with plenty of information and interesting content. That moment when you walked through to the treasury was breathtaking! Thank you so much for this. 👍😊👍
Such an inspiring channel. I think u r the best travel blogger I have ever watched. Thank you so much for ur inspiration. My name is Diem Le from Vietnam🇻🇳🇻🇳🇻🇳
I had no idea how extensive this place is. I have only seen the Treasury and thought that was all there was to Petra. Your presentation is always best. Thank you for this, Jason.
Incredible how empty it is ! I visited Petra many years ago and the path to it was completely crowded with people, mules, camels, merchants and so. And agree with you that it is worth staying at least one night at the city nearby.
I had Petra to myself back in 1991 as the Gulf War was about to begin. They were giving a three day pass for the price of two days. There were more guides than people. Fantastic place to visit and if your a walker it’s good to take the three days to see it all.
In 1977, when I spent the summer in Petra as a part of a University of Utah archeology dig, there were no hotels in Wadi Musa, no monuments, no "park concept," no tourist buses to the place. I was a day behind the rest of the dig crew, my flight from London having been canceled, and I had to find my own way from Amman to Petra. Fortunately, at the hotel where I stayed in Amman, the Philadelphia Hotel that then occupied the plaza fronting the Roman amphitheater, I met an American woman who taught at Kuwait University who was taking in the sights. She happened to speak Arabic but said I would not want to travel with her because she was taking a bus. I said that was my aim, too, but nobody would admit that a bus passed even near Petra and that I would have to hire a car (for the equivalent of $54 U.S. dollars, way above my budget). I joined her -- and another woman traveling with her -- and took a local bus (about $2.50). We were dropped off on the side of the road in the desert, where a few minutes later, the Wadi Musa police chief came by on his way from Amman. He stopped and picked us up and drove us to his house, where his wife served us tea and wonderful snacks. He had us arrange for horses to take us through the Siq to get us into Petra before dark. As the old nags carried us into Petra, we could see armed Bedul on horseback looking us over from vantage points atop the Siq. After ensuring the two women had a place at a government-run rest house in Wadi Musa, I began my two wonderful months on the dig and making visits to the Bedul in their tents after work. Magical summer. Only two tour groups came through that summer, each of about 15 or 20 people. That's the way I remember Petra, left alone, virtually untouched, quite in its majesty, except for us on the project and a couple of reps from the Jordanian Department of Antiquities to watch over us -- and occasional visits by patrols of the Jordanian army. Beautiful place and wonderful people! A dream that I actually lived.
It's almost as though you rented the whole place for the day!!!🙌. Just gorgeous and so peaceful and serene....I'm blissed out just watching your video. Can't imagine what it was like for you to be there in person. Love that you collect fridge magnets. I do too. Best souvenirs in the days of carry on only luggage. They take up such a small space.
What a treat for you, Jason, to experience the Siq and many of the wonders of Petra without crowds. While the huge decline in tourists is a hardship for the camel & donkey owners and merchants there, your being able to wander around Petra and experience solitude in places really is a gift. I was there in December of 2019 and even though we arrived early there were many more locals and tourists than you encountered. It was great to revisit Petra in your video. The Wadi Rum is another wondrous experience. I look forward to revisiting it in your next video. Best, Sylvia
I agree with you that Petra has a different atmosphere when it is quiet. It was like that when I left following my first visit, it is mystical. I had lunch at the Monastery and it was spectacular. I returned to Petra a second time travelling on a small cruise ship but there was also a huge cruise ship in port and the place was overrun, I wished that I had not returned. Enjoy Wadi Rum, I look forward to seeing your video.
That’s a shame. If you plan the month and time of your visit (by staying in Wadi Musa) then at least you should be lucky enough to see it between 6:30am-10am in a relatively quiet state. Clearly in this video it was more than just those things, the pandemic also contributed to fewer people.
We were there just a few weeks back and loved reliving this through your tour! It was more crowded that your visit but surely nothing compared to the precovid days. We have also been to 5/7 of the new wonders and felt the same way-that it was our favorite because of just the amount of exploring you could do on your own!
THANK YOU for this superb video tour! I have seen several documentaries and videos about this iconic place, but none as good as this one! I hope you are recognized and rewarded accordingly by Jordanian cultural institutions for the way you show abd teach about this site to the world. Thanks again for your kindly passionate and knowledgeable presentations, all the best to you, Jason!
Great video once again. Some of your best work so far. We visited Petra in 2012. Thank you so much for the fantastic trip down memory lane. Perfect soundtrack with beautiful Ambient music. 😀
beautiful video Jason as always. your representation of these places have something unique, moody and artistic that make ur content stand out ! keep up the great work!
Well Done and Thank You for showing us the beautiful Petra👍🏼👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Now I have a better image of Petra in mind and hope I can visit in person one day 🙏🏼🙏🏼
I have visited Petra 9 times .It was a pity you hadn't seen any of my videos you could have found out about the Jordan Pass. I have done the JETT Bus as well as private driver. Previously it was very busy. There was Bedouins with horses and carriages which were both charming and disturbing with the way the animals were treated. It will good to see that this has stopped. The Monastery is amazing, I have only made it that far twice. I arrive in Jordan in a few weeks for a month, I am getting excited.
An awesome video! I visited Petra decades ago with even fewer people and was able to stay with a group overnight among the tombs. An unforgetable experience. Brought back memories!
Please forgive my ignorance. I had never even heard of this breathtaking, intriguing place! Thank you so much for sharing it! I haven't heard you say that you collected fridge magnets before. Bet you could almost cover a fridge! Happy travels to you!
Hi Jason! Sorry I’m so late to the party here. I’m heading off to Jordan solo in December from the UK and these videos are exactly what I’ve been looking for amongst all of the “travel influencer” vlogs which I find a bit surface level. You go into such detail and you really do think of everything. So firstly, thank you so much for the content. What I wanted to ask was when were you there. I hear you talking about rounding up 2021 so I’m assuming you were there December 2021? Just wandering to get an idea of the climate there for my packing. Thanks so much if you get to read this 😊
Jason thank you for your video! :) I really enjoyed watching! Beautifully filmed with really clear images --- seemed like I was there with you! :) I like your editing and music choices :) Thank you for all the information you shared and for your on-screen titles :) Great video Jason! :) Thank you for sharing your adventures! :)
😂😂😂 That's right Jason hike it with no assistance...get your steps in burn those calories. I would've done the same not just for the workout but for the opportunity to take my time and enjoy the views. And wow this video leaves me almost breathless.
Apologies all, I had to reupload this one as there was a sound issue with the version I uploaded yesterday. A big thanks to everyone who helped the last video to reach 1k likes. Let's see if we can hit that number again on this one!
Done thumbs up and no escaping ads..safe travel Jason

Thanks for your kind words!
Feels like watching HISTORY Channel. It makes me My number 1 bucket lists.
This was absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for showing the other incredible tombs. Having those silent shots throughout the video made it feel like I was there too. 😍
Cool, glad you felt that way. Didn’t want to overdo it with the music.
The best video of Petra I have ever seen. Thank you.

The city of Petra is a very beautiful and touristic place
This is the first time I have seen the walk through the Siq. It was really exciting to watch you wander towards the Treasury. Normally this part is not shown, yet it has so much beauty in it's own right. Also I agree with all the comments regarding the rest of your video. Always so worth watching your reports Jason. That’s exactly right. I wanted to show that part in full with no cuts because I never saw anyone include it in a video before..
Very beautiful sight and thanks for this wonderful video
The silence while you filming Petra made it feel real , I felt taking back in time it’s so amazing
exactly
Thank you especially as I was able to enjoy Petra so much more because of the fine camera work.

As fabulous video! So nice to see Petra without the throngs of tourists! The real grandeur of Petra can be enjoyed at a setting like this.....vast emptiness all around!
I had no idea Petra was that large of an area. I never knew about the tombs and the other ruins. Nice!
I’ll be honest I didn’t either until I got to Jordan and did some research. It’s enormous!
Silent viewer here. I'm always amazed with your vlogs.
Thanks George!
Oh I have cool memories from there i walk around 25 kilometers that day I visited
Excellent! I enjoyed it and it going to be helpfull for my visit, thank you!

It’s a pleasant surprise. Petra is great for hiking, there are many routes available.

You make very good videos. Thank you!
Wonderful, Jason, that you made it to the monastry - most people never see this impressive site.
It’s worth the climb up those 800 steps!
Congratulations on your video Jason. The best one I have seen about Petra !
That’s nice to know
Beautiful as always, take care!
Absolutely amazing with proper general information, love it.
Happy to hear that!

This is my favorite video of yours. So well done and lucky for us, the audience, that it had few tourists.
Amazing!!!!
