Sad how people are thrown out of their homes and the traditional way of life destroyed after 1000's of years, just so other people can make money and profit from their culture
Petra is an ancient city thousand years ago and should be protected, No one has preserved his origins for thousands of years. Peoples and people have passed through Petra. With all due respect, these Bedouins are still working in the archaeological site, and I have friends among them. They earn a lot of money in exchange for working with tourists.
what amaze me is how naturally beautiful these people are the old women and men with out makeup and plastic surgery the kids adults and youth all naturally beautiful people i wish them good luck
Governments always claim to make things better. In reality they make everything worse. This is sad to watch. The Bedouin people are beautiful, and they should be respected. That site will be ruined because of greed.
I absolutely don't understand it entirely. We go to great lengths to preserve historical sites, but we seem to ignore the fact that we're displacing tribes without providing them suitable alternatives and support for survival. Petra is undeniably a remarkable historical site, but wouldn't it be even more appealing if the original inhabitants, who constructed these incredible structures, were allowed to reside there as they did in the past? Instead, they are driven out while others profit from the tourism industry without compensating the very people responsible for these architectural marvels. It's truly a load of nonsense. Politics, what a filthy game they play.
30 years ago? Isn’t that around the time that “Raiders of the Lost Ark” was made? Could it be that, that movie brought attention to this beautiful place? I don’t understand why the Bedouin wouldn’t be part of the history. So sad. Very unfair and short sighted. These people and their way of life should be as much protected as a building. 😢
Everyone has their complaints. I been to Petra twice. Government protects bedouins, donot allow outsiders to bother them, or walk into their abodes. They are preserved, for psychological health, govnment should regularly send soft personalities to comfort and visit them.
My parents were lucky enough to visit Petra in the 90's and their guide was one of the Bedul who pointed out to them which cave he was born in- they said that film and photos simply don't capture the astounding beauty , colour and size of the Treasury - I find this film sad - once again an indigenous tribe whose heritage and ancestors were born, lived and died here - always is the same story that 'cultures' are in the way of modern tourism and they are uprooted, betrayed by false promises. They should be given the land they were promised but also those who wish to return should be allowed to do so and live their lives in peace.
I hope the Bedoin people are paid hugely for having all those tourists there. I remember when it was claimed by unesco but not story of Bedoin people made homeless. Obviously world heritage protection and tourism are very different reasons for taking land from indigenous peoples.
I have been twice to Petra and every time spoke and had tea with the Bedouins there. Very sad to hear that the government have expelled them from their homes. They added colour and life to the place. The Bedouins have always lived at the heritage site and have looked after it. They need to be near their livelihoods. The tourists do more damage, The government should give them the basic amenities to live. I hope they dont allow the buses into Petra, that would spoil the whole area.
My sympathy to the Bedouins. So many people have suffered this same situation. I say to them. Fight for what you want because the government will not listen to you.
Its a shame they were moved out of their homes (caves). I feel sorry for them as they appear to be lovely people and again a goverment has let its people down and not totally done what they said they would do
I'd love the chance to visit Petra and meet the Bedouin people and experience their way of life firsthand. Their homes in particular are a huge feat of architecture, I wonder how they built them 🤔
Why doesn't this company also preserve the heritage and cultire of the people. It's discusting how they broke up the Bedul. All tourist trade should belong to the Bedouin 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I do believe we are all sick for need of these human touchstones and traditions: live in and with nature and live together. The exploding families of America can testify to the deathly cadence of refined industrial cultures.
Lol the Bedouins may have lived there when it was deserted but they never invented a wheel much less carve out these fantastic structures. Tribes herd goats, sheep and camels. Watch it yourself.
Gonna save this docudrama for tomorrow. As got to do peaceful evening at home with no internet until tomorrow. 💖💖💖💖🫠 Absolutely cannot wait to visit Petra. 🫠💖💖🏛
Great documentary. These people should be allowed to live the way they want to. Not everyone is happy living in a house or a town. Their culture should come before tourists who don't even appreciate the site they are visiting.
@@kaygeayla If you listened, in the video he said many people go there only because it's part of a stop on their cruise and that they don't appreciate the site
UNESCO should include the natives when they roll out their plans initially. Sadly poorly executed. There is still time to make things right.for the heritage sites. First start by fixing solar panels for the place and drill water wells. Hopefully this video will bring forth awareness to the local government and global communities.😢
With all respect to Beduins, I've been all over the middle east, and almost in every case, they tend to make the other locals pretty fed up, by living in natural areas and taking over them, making entire beautiful areas look like garbage dumps, populating very quickly and taking over more land, and refusing to leave. In the cases I have seen them leave, they usually demand free housing for vacating land they never owned to begin with, further burdening the society. I get their way of life, and it's something to be admired from one hand for the freedom (that is, for everyone except the over-worked women and abused animals ofc, which is an entirely different subject), but this is definitely an issue that needs to be looked at from MULTIPLE angles to get a true picture.
Any land will not have it's original inhabitants. That's the way it is everywhere on the Earth. We need to respect and allow the last people who existed somewhere IN PEACE to be allowed to stay. They jumped in to disturb a thriving culture.
I have been Jordan Kingdom to study my master " Agricultural economics ", I visited Petra or Betra and Akaba or Aqaba and other places such as Dead Sea. I am asking myself, what ever they complain, why they don't PLANT " to create a artificial forestry, to make the Betra and their new home land village with a peautiful panoramic even UNESCO and Jordan authorities they messed their responsibilities. Thank you.
Grandad at 28:50 sounds so wise! I'd also like to visit their shops at Petra. Everyone seems so nice. Sucks their government screwed them over like that. Can't say mine would do any better though
Three questions for those who are interested. 1) Where is Muhammed's tribe from and who do they claim decent from? 2) Where do some of the early Mosque praying walls face? 3) What are the three locations that the Kabba Black Stone of Mecca resided before coming to Mecca?
The government obviously. They control the land and do as they wish, it’s the same world over Indigenous or settlers who have lived in the places for thousands down to hundreds of years those peoples are abused and their lands taken from them in every country in the world.
I am happy I watched this but it definitely upset me for the Bedouins. More attention needs to be brought to this injustice! I don't care what government it is they are all the same make promises lie and then act oblivious!!!
I wish for all of humanity, that We can try to go back to a life without technology. It has ruined us. I share your pain and frustration in this new Era.
How could they have kicked out the local people it would’ve been so cool to go to this place and see the local people still living thousands of years you need to put them back where they belong is not your Leanne day been there for a long time
How sad. Because it was made a heritage site the people are kicked out? That is so wrong. What a betrayal. The whole human race will never see this place. What a hard life. May the Lord Jesus save them.
I love the Arab Muslims they are honest, brave, kind, peaceful etc etc send them all to the UK our government will look after them and we will provide them with Job,free education and free housing .....
Limit the number of visitors and raise the price. People do not need to destroy the top of Mt. Everett, the canals of Venice, or the glory of Petra. The infrastructure for mass tourism is a nightmare, going in person would have been an expensive privilege in any age. I'd much rather have video guided tours with the lovely people whose ancestors probably built Petra. Descendants of the Nabateans.
Where’s queen rania?? Have you partitioned the king and queen? Or are they too busy buying 100 thousand dollar outfits to do stupid engagements with European monarchs??
It is a bit ridiculous to contend that the Bedouins were in the region from times long ago when they did not live there until much later. Who knows who was there in very ancient times, but we do know of the Moabites. They were eventually assimilated into other Semitic groups. Later came the Nabateans, who built the city as we can see it now or at least to some extent. They eventually were over run by other peoples. We could say that the Bedouins who came from Arabia filled up the space when it seemed that none wanted it. Now Jordan (which itself is a totally made up country - the name is old, but that is about it) think they own it much like Turkey (another made up country) thinks it owns the Greek temples in Asia Minor. The UN being a bunch of useless highly paid busy buddies have to get involved as if they alone could save the world and of course, they make a mess of things. What can one expect from such an organization now totally corrupted with selfish woke ideology. I feel sorry for the Bedouins, but in the modern world you need titles or at least leases. This is the sad reality of modern life.
The Bedouins are not the same as modern days arabs who call them Bedouins. Nabatan is a an ancient Kingdom of Bedouins who ruled ancient Egypt to Iraq. It was the black Bedouins who built ancient Egypt who built Petra.
@@IbrahimAbdu-pc4xx This sounds very intriguing. Where can I find out more. Are you saying that there was a connection between ancient Nubia and Petra?
They should be gifted solar generators Disgusting that tourists are given priority and not limited until the resolution to give them what they need to protect their livelihood. Patriot solar generators are too expensive for them. Certainly China can produce better ones for the. So the do t have to use ridiculous gas ones.
They did this to all original Jordanians north south and middle of Jordan we live now around our own towns outside in the desert not only Petra’s people
this is not the whole truth that you showed here. many of the bedouins who "work" in tourism in petra are not on video because they hide their faces, although they are very famous in petra. i lived among them. many of them are not such good poor people as you showed here. these people want to be given everything for free. give water, land, build a house, electricity, there people just take and want to give nothing in return. Two brothers twins from the Al Faqqer tribe, who are related to this sheikh, served time in prison for rape and drugged tourists in Petra while being "theirs guests". They are not "humble people". many of them are criminals. People from Wadi Musa speak about bedouins as an animals. And its true. Atella - the guy who speaks in the end of the video complaining there is no land - he has a full house for himself in village next to Umm Sayhon. where all there cars came from if they lived in a caves and had nothing? Just need to spend some time with them not as a guest, but to see the real life of them .
Should have left it as a Living place..let the Bedul run it ...UNESCO is a very strange organisation that can just blame the 'Old UNESCO' for mistakes constantly .... i am too polite to say more
It seems like UNESCO is doing more harm than good.... The same and worse is happening with the people living in Cambodia by the Angkor Wat temple complex. Watched a documentary about the topic and it is a very sad situation as well...
@@yahyamohamad2583 Are you positive? There are many other records and citations that tell a much different historical account of the natives that lived there for thousands of years. Incredibly deceiving how this 'historical' account completely skipped over valid cultural identifying and racial backgrounds of a peoples who were revered by many.
I had no idea how predatory and overreaching UNESCO is. They have lost my confidence and support in total. Remember that the people are the culture, not the stones they walk upon.
They should be glad they were only displaced…locally… with all of their organs from the things being done to people other places…both now and historically. Still a sadness to see their particular plight and wish it were not so at all.

Good for them for being proactive in this depopulation era. We all shall overcome...Beautiful people and country! God bless.
Sad how people are thrown out of their homes and the traditional way of life destroyed after 1000's of years, just so other people can make money and profit from their culture
Just like in surf spots in Morocco...
Exactly
Love this .
I have been to Petra, it was amazing...truly truly amazing.
My boss is from Jordan 🇯🇴 this was totally interesting, thank you
Thanks for watching! (and hi to your boss!)
what amaze me is how naturally beautiful these people are the old women and men with out makeup and plastic surgery the kids adults and youth all naturally beautiful people i wish them good luck
Beautiful people, beautiful place. How to reconcile them? This was a very inspiring documentary.
I was so lucky to be able to visit. Been wanting to return one day
Governments always claim to make things better.
I didn't know that
It's the tourists who are to blame .they do anything for their own pleasure ..it speaks about modern life and it's morality ..
You can see what sacred sites become when left to people living in them .like in Jerusalem...they become garbage tips ..
I have encountered too the “ Bedouins “ when I was in Petra ! Our group toured The Holy Land too,,,, Jordan ,,Petra . 2018
This is the real life that we received frm God simple with full of joy and love .
I hope they dont allow the buses into Petra, that would spoil the whole area.
just wow!
Thanks!
That is a good life being nomadic. I hope that they may return to their caves soon. Happy life.
My sympathy to the Bedouins. So many people have suffered this same situation. I say to them. Fight for what you want because the government will not listen to you.
Thank you.
Beautiful song! What does it mean?
Its a shame they were moved out of their homes (caves). I feel sorry for them as they appear to be lovely people and again a goverment has let its people down and not totally done what they said they would do
You can clearly tell that the Bedouins of Middle East are the original Arab DNA with clearly Afro-Asiatic phenotype like the East Africans.
I'd love the chance to visit Petra and meet the Bedouin people and experience their way of life firsthand.
Their homes in particular are a huge feat of architecture, I wonder how they built them 🤔
the beduins DIDNT build Petra, the Nabateans did. Beduins never built anything , they were and always were NOMADIC. Learn about it.
How was the background music synchronized with the video scenes?
White man, always take take take. Still, whte man Never happy... unless it's credited to white man. Lol
😂So you invented ? How they carried their grains ? They were Good horse riders.
Gonna save this docudrama for tomorrow. As got to do peaceful evening at home with no internet until tomorrow. 💖💖💖💖🫠
Absolutely cannot wait to visit Petra. 🫠💖💖🏛
🫠
Great documentary. These people should be allowed to live the way they want to. Not everyone is happy living in a house or a town. Their culture should come before tourists who don't even appreciate the site they are visiting.
Thanks!!
why would tourists visit a site they don't appreciate?? what nonsense
@40:51 is that a gold cup?
Is there any grass or food for the animals?😮
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👍👌🤝🙏❤️💐🥰. Beautiful !
I've been to Petra twice and found Beduins there and spoke with some of them. I found Petra gained from having inhabitants on site.
You see native people will lose their land as Palestine.....slowly, slowly occupies, then people have no right
Three questions for those who are interested.
1) Where is Muhammed's tribe from and who do they claim decent from?
2) Where do some of the early Mosque praying walls face?
3) What are the three locations that the Kabba Black Stone of Mecca resided before coming to Mecca?
Who cares . More Important is theology of Mohamed .
What happened to the Aram's language and ancient history?
So tell us who drove them out
The government obviously. They control the land and do as they wish, it’s the same world over Indigenous or settlers who have lived in the places for thousands down to hundreds of years those peoples are abused and their lands taken from them in every country in the world.
13:36 so they are Nabateans themselves.......
Because they Still inhabit Nabatea or Petra as they call it........
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I am happy I watched this but it definitely upset me for the Bedouins. More attention needs to be brought to this injustice! I don't care what government it is they are all the same make promises lie and then act oblivious!!!
Allahumma salli ala Muhammed walihi wsallam ajmaeen alarab sayyedul oolaa
I wish for all of humanity, that We can try to go back to a life without technology. It has ruined us. I share your pain and frustration in this new Era.
How could they have kicked out the local people it would’ve been so cool to go to this place and see the local people still living thousands of years you need to put them back where they belong is not your Leanne day been there for a long time
Those Flys are a nightmare!. They land right on their faces!
How sad. Because it was made a heritage site the people are kicked out? That is so wrong. What a betrayal. The whole human race will never see this place. What a hard life. May the Lord Jesus save them.
Just the fact that people use the word ‘man’ to describe all humans instead of ‘woman’, the one who gave life to us, is so wrong.
They need their homes back in the caves. If I were ever there, I would most enjoy watching the people live as they do with freedom.
Is it necessary to evict people to protect a monument? Unfortunately, it is very necessary..
Has nothing to do with protecting it 🤦🏽♀️
@@user-rf2cg4cx5i has everything to do with protecting it from human habitation
Tourists are a double edged sword😢
I love the Arab Muslims they are honest, brave, kind, peaceful etc etc send them all to the UK our government will look after them and we will provide them with Job,free education and free housing .....
It’s all about money. Shameful.
I find myself drawn there because of my ancestry. Yet, I am a Woman born in the U.S. and have been warned not to travel there alone.
I am more found of the drawing system, otherwise it is always the same having all the leisure and privileges, but then again I'm French soooo
Where’s queen rania?? Have you partitioned the king and queen? Or are they too busy buying 100 thousand dollar outfits to do stupid engagements with European monarchs??
Petra somewhat similar to pitra or pitru means father there by deduce as land of father jaish_e_hind?was it in zoradham closeto jordan
May Yahweh see to it that they get their land & caves back
This is who the ultleft college protesters should be protesting for.
UNESCO’s neocolonialism really grinds my gears
Lol even the UNESCO representative doesn't seem convinced with the relocation plan.
Sorry, what is a made up country to you?
@@SLICE_Full_Doc ALL OF THEM
The Bedouins are not the same as modern days arabs who call them Bedouins.
They should be gifted solar generators
Disgusting that tourists are given priority and not limited until the resolution to give them what they need to protect their livelihood.
Patriot solar generators are too expensive for them. Certainly China can produce better ones for the. So the do t have to use ridiculous gas ones.
They did this to all original Jordanians north south and middle of Jordan we live now around our own towns outside in the desert not only Petra’s people
That UNESCO woman is so tone deaf
Your Goverment and our Goverment are a lot alike.😮😢
this is not the whole truth that you showed here. many of the bedouins who "work" in tourism in petra are not on video because they hide their faces, although they are very famous in petra. i lived among them. many of them are not such good poor people as you showed here. these people want to be given everything for free. give water, land, build a house, electricity, there people just take and want to give nothing in return.
Watched a documentary about the topic and it is a very sad situation as well...
what happened to the Christian natives who lived there?
They converted to Islam
@@yahyamohamad2583 Are you positive? There are many other records and citations that tell a much different historical account of the natives that lived there for thousands of years.
Incredibly deceiving how this 'historical' account completely skipped over valid cultural identifying and racial backgrounds of a peoples who were revered by many.
They left or became muslims lol very sad😂 RIP Christians Bedouins ✝️ And jews of Transjordan (Jerash, Pella) too 🙏🏽
Today they are 6% of all population not so bad
Christians are imposters from Europe
It was a trick
❤😊
I had no idea how predatory and overreaching UNESCO is. They have lost my confidence and support in total. Remember that the people are the culture, not the stones they walk upon.
😊
They should be glad they were only displaced…locally… with all of their organs from the things being done to people other places…both now and historically. Still a sadness to see their particular plight and wish it were not so at all.
Petra would be more beautiful , realistic and interesting to visit with Bedouins living there. Displacing tribes for tourism is a total insane.
Use solar panels for your electricity - it gets power electivity from the sun!!
