Frame 2:45 what's up with that horse is beautiful
Indiana Jones was never this good 😃
I've been to Petra. It's totally overwhelming. And awesome in the true sense of the word. Everyone should experience this beautiful place.
I saw Indiana Jones, so I feel like I've been there.
I'd love to go, but I imagine the crowds would ruin everything about it. Even just a few dozen people scattered around will destroy any chance of a "moment" for me. Dammit, I hate crowds, lol.
When I was an undergrad in the 1980s, my archaeology professor had a research project there in 1989 and I got to go. We had high quality Hasselblad cameras and took something around 25 thousand photographs of a couple of the mausoleums that were then slowly stitched together in the Photoshop version of the day. Now, a single person with a laser scanner could do the job we did for three months in about two days, working slowly.
Thank you for posting about the subject.
100,%%%
I knew about the city of Petra and their local water channels but had never heard of the preceding sites or the horticulture around the city. I love the depth that NG, Albert Lin, and the whole team go to in making these episodes.
Albert Lin has the best job in the world, and he does a remarkable job doing it.
with the scarf, the hat and the prothesis he looks like a true adventurer. dream job indeed
Absolutely
Absolutely no doubt about that
... but the dialogue/script is SO cheesy
Once again, Albert Lin knocks it out of the park! That fresco was stunning!
Humanity is awesome!
That must feel surreal to stand and gaze upon that amazing structure. I would die from overwhelm. Breath taken away. Gorgeous.
WHAT A DOCUMENTARY DESERVES A 5 STAR👑👑👑👑👑👑✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Such a fascinating video of Petra. Thx for sharing.
always worth a lengthened visit. I have spend weeks there by now and still can't get enough of Petra and Jordan in general. A Jordan pass will save tons of entry fees.
let peace flow upon us.. amen@@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist.
@@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist. Mount Aaron is definitively a spot to worship, especially the old scripture……. Locally’s easy way to connect is, when one asks for tea and exchange stories about Issah, Aaron and Moses…..traditionally they will connect local folklore with established facts 🤷🏻♂️
This was AMAZING! Petra is on my bucket list, but now I also want to see where their water systems and gardens were. WOW. It must have been incredible, before the earthquake. How heartbreaking for them.
I like Albert's presentation and knowledge of ancient history
Pls nat geo put more episodes of albert so we can binge watch 😅
Im addicted to Lin's adventure. He is always the most fantastic explorer ever
THANK YOU.. I finally know more of the story of the Nabateans and Petra, than I everI did before.

Simply amazing! Thank you, Albert Lin, for exploring and sharing your finds!! Namaste
@35:08 - So that's the Petra/Nabataen predecessor to the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
And frankly, is incredibly advanced artwork.
Wow, you have documented it all, Petra is fascinating
I was waiting for your new lost city episode....... awesome

A dream come true Albert, English without a British accent so many of these are plagued with. A breath of fresh air, great presentation.

Been there its very beautiful. One should visit, its a peaceful place.
Very impressive. Now we know why that area was lush and green in its hayday……human ingenuity. 👍
This was breathtaking to watch ❤
Watching these places and hearing the stories makes me realize that I too am a passing milestone in the celestial journey of time!
Wonderful, thank you!
Breathtakingly beautiful.
wonderful! very informative, love albert
This is unbelievably beautiful and fascinating land. I wish that the people of this part of the world would stop fighting over who owns the "magic rocks" and allow their neighbours to live in peace. It would become a massive tourist destination, if visitors could feel secure and welcomed. Egypt is discovering the prosperity that comes with this.
you’ve clearly never been to jordan. one of the most hospitable places on earth. safer than the US.
@LifeOfBaha I'm referring to the Levant as a whole, rather than just Jordan.
Maybe if the US and friends would stop mercilessly extracting resources and popping up puppet regimes, endless warmongering the region would stand a chance.
I arrived at Aqaba Jordan from Neweiba Egypt via ferry Oct September 30, 2021. Everyone had to take a COVID test in the ferry despite we all took a COVID test in Neweiba Egypt before departure. I accidentally took a ferry with 98% economic migrants 😅 but I got help from a young Egyptian with my luggage. There were about only 8 female passengers, I was the only American 😅.
Once landed in Aqaba, the ferry crew treated me like a VIP 😅 maybe because of the long COVID lockdown, and to see actual tourist? Their English is very British 😊 after some research, only to learn that Jordanian king was educated in UK and the queen is Palestinians.
The previous queen Noor is half American
its the way it is because of european colonizers and how they divided the land; the fact that you think certain people fight "over magic rock" reveals your underlying ignorance and a pretense of moral superiority.
Outstanding!
I would love to visit this place, it’s stunning.
thanks for posting
Amazing episode!
Love this dude!
Again, the coolest job ever.
The mind is a wonderful thing to come up with this way of keeping water at their fingertips. Water is a god in itself
Amazing! Mesmerizing 😮
Uma linda história descoberta do passado 😮
Been there 2018... unbelievably beautiful😍
The land and rock there are so so beautiful!
Great video!
The dwellings carved out of the sandstone are similar to the american southwest cliff dwellings.
Back in Architecture University, we would study different Architectural History in the world. I just hope we had this documentaries at that time (2010) It is really helpful. Whoever invented the Ladar technology is such a genius. Also Albert Lin's narration, personally I think it will catch student's attention if ever you use this for educational
Beautiful country, i loved my trip there. Petra is amazing.
Love these docs
44:13 Absolutely amazing!
(slow clapping) amazing Nat Geo! hats off to sir Albert Lin and his team. bravo!
Americans can be knighted but only honorary and he Hadn't but since he is not a royal subject he cannot have the title SIR.
what a great story about petra and the great video being inside little petra lol so cool to see art of fertile lands that use to be
Would you Mr. Lin be able to do a documentary for a lost continent in the Pacific starting from Fiji- that would be epic
Nice presentations!
Petra rocks!
Really Rox 👍💐🙏
that incredible 😍
all countries has its own story and uniqueness
I spent a New Year's eve in Wadi Rum. An incredible place. I love Bedouins and their fashion. It's incredible for the Nabateans to do all this in this location but there are ancient rock cut cities and temples in many countries. I love ancient ruins but civilizations repeat the same style design in many places. Like after you've seen a few ancient Egyptian or Greco-Roman or Angkor Wat -style ruins they all start to look the same because civilizations just repeat everything everywhere during their existence. I find the ancient Egyptian heretic pharaoh Akhenaten interesting because he was the only one to suddenly change the religion and style of art and decoration and beliefs that had been in existence for a few thousand years in Egypt. Jordan is an incredible country. I loved also Machaerus a bit outside Madaba in Jordan which was a desert mountain surrounded by multitudes of other desert mountains not far from the Dead Sea and was where John the Baptist was supposedly held prisoner for two years in a dungeon at the base of the mountain. When you climb to the top of the mountain you can look down to the dungeon inside the hollowed-out mountain. Apparently Salome did the famous Biblical dance with the head of John the Baptist on top of this mountain where his dungeon was. There is just a bit of rubble on top of the mountain and a few columns but it's so haunting and untouristy and you can really imagine it. So much amazing history in Jordan.
Thanks for Dr. Albert YU Min Lin and his tim. This is Such a wonderful documentary on ancient Petra!!! 👍 Thanks for doing this.💝🇧🇩
Please make an expedition to find the lost city of "Pakuan" a capital city of one of the greatest kingdom in Indonesia, Pajajaran or Sunda Kingdom
It's a very interesting and marvelous place😊😊
The remains of an ancient civilization
this is my favorite one!
Thanks
Beautiful heritage site
Amazing!
Watching from Philippines👍
Good job, Albert!👍👍👍😍
I am proud to be Jordanian because I see with my own eyes that my Nabataean ancestors carved the rock with their hands and made a masterpiece
Beautiful Petra, and Wadi-Rum.
Gorgeous Wadi-Rum and Petra.
Petra, Wadi Rum are affordable to visit, I visited in October 1-5 , 2021. Jordanian are friendly people with British accent
I wish there can be more of the things and terrain the host and his team see, less of the host and team in these shows. Great efforts bridging theSe lost cities to us. Thanks
An exciting adventure
Best history of Petra
I spent 6hrs walking arnd, there's a wifi cafe down the track, a mini Ampitheatre like the Roman colosseum, and lotsa caves u can walk into and see colorful pictures on the walls. Dont be tempted to take the horse up or down, they look very unstable when stopping on the rocks, especially with lotsa people walking up and down, NJOY the walk. There's a staircase if ur fit enuf to the left of the front of the main Petra building. As with lotsa Egyptian tombs, these rooms are all bare, the entrances are the main attraction. I'd recommend 2 days if you stay locally, time enuf to really take ur time and walk arnd into all caves and the distant surrounding caves on all the different Petra hills. On the way down the initial hill on a tourist trip you're told it was carved from water/flooding, and there are lotsa little caves on the way down...really worthwhile, and not too many over selling vendors like other places........there is a cafe rest stop as previously mentioned with wifi....go bak there for lunch, rest and reset, go exploring again. NJOY
Awesome😊
Epic journey. Epic presentation.. but the donkeys were carrying very heavy loads. :(
I wish we would learn from it and re-populate some of the dry areas of the desserts in the world.
Very Very Interesting
Very impressive. NowIknow why that area wassogreen in itsheyday✌️✌️
Some other documentaries went into the diverse culture at Petra, how it was a melting pot of different people from around the mediterranian. It also went into the carved buildings into the walls, that some if not all were tombs and they used architecture from the cultures of those who had died. So if it was a roman or greek that died, the architecture of the tomb would reflect that. Some of the tombs were also made for travelers that died in Petra. I'm surprised this documentary didn't cover that. It changes the perspective a bit. It's possible that the painted ceiling wasn't actually proof that Petra was lush with plants and animals, but that traders from greece or rome, which the painting was styled from, actually moved to and lived in Petra and they added the art.
Could you please do a documentary on the Mammoth Ancient Hindu Temple, Brihadeshwara in Tanjore, Tamil Nadu, South India! The Temple is really really huge with 216 feet high Gopurams and completely made out of Granite one of the hardest stones to carve and till date it's a Mystery how and where they retrieved Granite as there's no sign of any granite quary in and around the radius of 300kms around the temple! And the Temple never casts a Shadow❤! It's a True wonder and a UNESCO monument ❤
Albert Lin is doing great job here
Nice n wonderful 👍👌
Please upload tut's toxic tomb and new episodes of lost treasures of Egypt
Anybody else notice the little horse love tap at the beginning that almost made him crack up.
Tourists visit the world to view Hellenic architecture.
I went to Petra about 5 years ago and I've been all over the world, it's one of the top 5 places you must visit in my opinion. It's just this incredible Roman/Greek city built into the side of a valley. When it was lush and populated, it must have been quite simply unbelievable. They also think it's the original Mecca.
Hi, Can you elaborate a bit on "Who think its the original mecca"? Just curious. Thanks.
No its not
Please make a video about Harappa Indus valley civilization
I like how the driver start the engine. Alright!
Jeremiah ,49 -16 , talks about petra
