Chris and Carol, I didn't think it was possible for you guys to out do your Mexico series of videos, but watching these, I might be wrong. You guys are killing it. Keep up the awesome work !
It's really hard to imagine how people built such a great building back then, It is not easy to build the stone road just to get there, It's a pity that you can't go in that big temple, but you climb up and walk over there, let us see the mausoleum above, and the ancient theater from the top, it is really a worthwhile trip!
Jordan hands down a better destination to visit then Egypt 🇪🇬 The hassle and 💩 you experienced near the great pyramids was a huge disappointment. Loved your video of Petra, fantastic editing, and amazing visuals with the sky being so clear.
I was there in February - incredible. For the carts try to take them on the way out when you are tired. Walk on the way in as the Gorge is spectacular! You will miss a lot if you take the cart both in and out. It is a downhill walk on the way in.
Another wonderful video! I visited Petra in 1980 (and spent a night in one of the caves). An awesome experience! There were far fewer tourists and no restaurants at the site - not surprisingly.. You really showed us a lot of the area. Much appreciated! Looking forward to your video of Oman (where I used to live)... Safe travels!
Just stunningly impressive and beautiful.I have to say I really loved these ruins in Jordan as compared to a lot u visited in Egypt.I know they are different but I just loved the unique way the tombs were carved into the rock in Jordan. It wld be too much walking for me now but I loved seeing it through your walks and through your eyes! On to Oman.Too bad about Israel as ur so close but def need to be safe.
I visited Petra with a tour group in March. Our tour guide dropped us off at our hotel while he went to Aqaba to pick up members who were joining our group from Egypt. I was on my own for the evening and learned about the "Petra At Night" tour from the hotel clerk. I immediately bought a ticket for that tour and had the most incredible evening ever! The Siq path had candles in bags to show the way and when we got to the Treasury, there was a half hour program of three musicians playing ancient instruments while a light show lit up the Treasure. Unforgettable! Seeing it the next day in the daylight was amazing and our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history. I didn't walk to the monastery, however, since we had a time limit to be back at the entrance to leave for the next part of our trip - Israel. We visited Israel before Passover/Ramadan so did not see or experience any conflict during our time there. That was an epic tour! I recommend going at time when there are no religious holidays or festivals scheduled, however.
It’s amazing to think that people were able to make a life in such hard surroundings. I’ll probably never get to Jordan so this video is great for me. Thanks!
About 10 years ago I spent 2 weeks in Aqaba for business. It was a fantastic trip, stayed at the Kempinski which was like a vacation within my trip. Went to Petra with my colleagues, taking the trek up to the Monastery. It was absolutely amazing.
Hiya, epic intro. Wow. What a wonderful experience. Thank you for taking us along. You two are the perfect tour guides. Amazing footage. Beautiful footage. Amazing cravings. And temples. Fantastic! We are seriously thinking of a visit here, looks interesting and authentic. Watching this now in Wales, sat under a tree with the birds tweeting away and beautiful sun and country side. So happy to be back but will be heading somewhere else before returning to Morocco. Dont know where yet. You have given us so many ideas through your videos so we thank you for that. Continue safely and enjoy. Best wishes Keith and Cath. ✌
Famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system, Petra is also called the "Rose Red City" because of the colour of the stone from which it is carved. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.

My friends who have visited the site highly recommended that I visit it. I will definitely take notes on your video for my trip next year.
I was glued to this video, what a remarkable place!!! The background music made it so soothing to watch as well. Absolutely jaw dropping structures and the viewpoints are insane. Loved this series!!!
Hey Carol and Chris, Petra is an amazing city, with all of it carved into the hills of sand stones. I find it to be one of the most fascinating ancient cities in the world, just like the valley of the kings. I am glad you have gone to this area to visit, as I have always been fascinated about these old cities. These places you go are in biblical times, this makes me excited about these videos. The monastery is a really big carving!! No crosses because it is a Muslin nation and Christianity is frowned upon, this is why you see no crosses in this Christian sector. That was some crazy walking to go through Petra, and it is sad that tourists get scammed, I had cheats and liars, plus find it sad they make it a bad experience that you remember on ones vacation. Better to watch it through the both of you, then actually visit myself. Even it being a wonder of the world and loving the desert, at my age and such bad health, it would be to much. In my youth I would of spent days walking through every part of Petra. Thanks for the amazingly great video, to bad they do not let you do drones due to regional wars. Be safe on these trips. Later old friends✌🏻🙏🏻🌴🐪🌴😎
I was just in Petra and stayed a night in Wadi Rum yesterday. We also went to the Dead Sea this afternoon and now backhere innAmman. Petra though is absolutely amazing. We were lucky with the weather in Petra yesterday because it wasn’t as hot and just slighty cloudy. The walk to the Monastery though was quite a way and we were told that it was 900 steps.
I really enjoyed your very informative video on Petra. I am off to Doha and then Perth this month. After that I will do a short trip to Jordan. Thanks you 2.
Wonderful video. My wife and I just got back from Amsterdam and then Paris so we have a lot to catch up on. I’m looking forward to binge watch the past few weeks of your videos.
In addition to the Egyptian Pyramids this is another destination I always dreamed of seeing. To late for me now. Fantastic video of Petra you brought us. Thanks.
Wow. I appreciate the effort it took to show this place "up close, and personal" in your own inimitable way. I would have pushed my old knees to their very limits to cover the ground you both managed. Thanks for saving me the hike (...and the hassle of the taxi drivers!). Petra, and Wadi Rum. Great work, as always, you two.
In addition to the amazing content one the best things about your videos is how totally chill and calm you guys are. Love the vibe and feel as well as the content - just a really unique combination!
I went to Petra a few months ago. I was amazed at how prestine most of the carvings were, like they were done last week. Great video was fun to watch it from a different point of view!
I can only imagine the hard work it took to carve an entire city. It must've been stunning during that time full of people, markets, armies, and so on. Wow.
In fact, the city is not actually carved into the mountain, only the graves of the residents and a few of the public buildings have been carved into the sandstone. The actual city was within the valley but today almost none of the buildings can be seen. The valley was protected from possible flash floods by numerous dams in Nabatean times, and the collected water and washed-up mud were then used for irrigation and agriculture around the city. The water supply within the city was ensured by 8 springs from its surroundings, the furthest of which was 7 km away. The water was brought to the city in canals made of fired clay pipes, where it was then collected in numerous cisterns. It is even assumed that there are other water channels under the ground that have not yet been excavated.
Love the explanation of the comment above mine Where it talks about how the city existed within the valley Makes more sense than carving it out in the stone There is more buried but won’t be uncover because the lies we were told run too deep Time to wake up
So Amazing, awesome, mind blowing site... Cannot imagine it was built 2000 years ago... Don't even sure we could today?? Sure you have enjoyed!!! Thanks and greetings from montréal... 🥂🤗👌
I knew OF Petra -- I've seen pictures of the first place you went for years -- but I had NO idea it was altogether so HUGE! Thanks a lot for doing the walking! 😎
Your videos are amazing 😻 thank you for giving us some good ideas on what a must do in each places. I wonder how many countries have you guys visited and which one is your favorite?
They were carved or sculpted from the top down. They stood on the earth they were removing as they removed it and worked from the top down to the base. Never any danger of falling
Judging by how steep some of the cliffs are that the tombs are carved into, i'm pretty sure there was a huge risk of falling. Many of them are almost vertical drops
I know this is not a regular question. But I am 70 years old, and I love to Travel. I would love to go and see Petra. I am assuming there are WC for visitors? We are going to Turkey again in September to visit our son and our Turkish daughter in Law. I can’t wait to see Istanbul again! My kids live in Ankara. We are also going to Antalya for two weeks, on the Mediterranean. Have you been to Istanbul? PS! Starting at 3 AM I had about of Insomnia and started watching your travel videos and it’s almost 3 pm and I haven’t stopped watching! I love them!
I went there in february 22, it’s a amasing place. We had a guide that you can book in advance with the Jordan PASS or online. It’s worth it because you have a better idea how they have build the City etc. Why the roman annexed PETRA … There are os much stories about this city
Very enjoyable. My wife and I walked up and down the more difficult and steep route. Unfortunately, we were rushing down to rejoin our group when she fell and fractured her ankle and foot. The paramedics had to take her down on a donkey. It's a long story, but the Jordanians were so very kind to us. We then returned to Jerusalem to continue our three month stay in that wonderful country.
A 4 hour drive from Petra to the caves of Shuaib, the people of the Prophet Shuaib (Jathro), who was mentioned in the Bible and the Qur’an, near which there is a well, springs and the rock of Moses. This is what Arab historians believe. Golden Tulip Resort in Sharma. You can stay in it, and the area has beautiful beaches and is suitable for diving in Sharma, Magna, Duba, or near Ras Sheikh Humaid or Tiran Island, Saudi Arabia.

@@JumpingPlaces yes, looking into it online. There wasn’t much of a ledge to work on. But that’s how they did it.
By the way, Carol was wondering about construction in Petra of the Treasury and Monastry. They were carved from the top down.
I loved the fact the goats are just spread randomly everywhere..🐐🇯🇴

I know this is not a regular question. But I am 70 years old, and I love to Travel. I would love to go and see Petra. I am assuming there are WC for visitors? We are going to Turkey again in September to visit our son and our Turkish daughter in Law. I can’t wait to see Istanbul again! My kids live in Ankara. We are also going to Antalya for two weeks, on the Mediterranean. Have you been to Istanbul? PS! Starting at 3 AM I had about of Insomnia and started watching your travel videos and it’s almost 3 pm and I haven’t stopped watching! I love them!
Wonderful place. Nice creation.
Great work friends.
Thank you very much!
I went there in february 22, it’s a amasing place. We had a guide that you can book in advance with the Jordan PASS or online. It’s worth it because you have a better idea how they have build the City etc. Why the roman annexed PETRA … There are os much stories about this city
Oh Petra the greatness of history 👍👍👍
Maybe they started to carve those buildings from top to down?
Petra is amazingly beautiful and interesting. Thanks so much! 🙏
This place is beautiful, with so much history with it. Thank you guys. 👍😁✌️💯✅🤩😍
9:45 Correct! An Indiana Jones movie was indeed shot here.
