Wow, awesome find! That looks like one of the Indy Pace cars. Hemi orange, hood pins, white top, and interior sure do point that way. Definitely deserves to be saved for sure.
Oh you guys are figuring it out. Yes thx to Eugene it is one of 50 Indy pace cars. And no owner never knew as lettering was removed before car got to dealer. I had a feeling based on color combo. But could not see vin till pulled out of garage. Car will be cleaned and saved as original surviver. There only original once.
Nothing like covering your valuable Mopar convertible in a bunch of crap ! Easy to tell people who are not car people, thanks for rescuing this beautiful car.
i owned a 1970 Barracuda 340 4sp, very sweet mopar orange with black int, my favourate is the 71 cuda tho, 71 challenger is my second choice of a car i would keep that as original as original gets.you guys in the States are lucky so many finds up here in Canada very hard to find mopars these days cause of thier worth.
Ford ended up with Kenny Bolin. Was to be rodded. Parts got sold off and body was hanging in a barn. Kenny died. And cars is lost. Dodge has a 318 auto w console. 8 3/4 rear end.
Lucky that area under that piece of rug hadn't rusted out the trunk lid. Single exhaust tells me its not really a muscle car with a 318 engine but still darn cool. I had a 70 Challenger with a 383 and automatic plus a 70 Cuda with a 440 +6 and 4 speed. Wish I had them now. Good luck finding the rear lower valence panel. Pretty flat ground so you must be around the Columbus Ohio area.
It sounds kinda like the tango. And the music shows the struggle of what we went through😂😂😎 thx for watching. Ps love Latin music. Hard to find, that is not monetized.
First of all hope everyone is ok after the weather last knight. And what ever happened to the 34 Ford you and I dug out of a barn north of New Madison and stuffed away in a barn north of Greenville? Nice Challenger what engine is in that?
So glad this popped up in the algorithm! Not just for the beautiful car that's an authentic barn find, but you're somewhere in NE Oh and it looks like you live in western Pa. I was born and raised in Youngstown. I moved to FL 20 years ago for work. I just enjoyed watching home. Thank you
For non-Mopar guys. Engine is a V8. Distributor in the rear so it's a small block. Mopar big blocks have the distributor in front. It has a 2 bbl. 340's came only with 4 bbl or three 2 bbl's (aka "Six Pack"). So it's a 318 2 bbl. The 318, though capable of more, was almost always a 2 bbl. It was the grocery getter / family man basic engine in the Mopars. There were a few 318's with Thermoquad 4 bbs, the so called "Denver package", and some Police, but those were rare. So, it's easy to spot this as a 318. Personally, I'd drop in a 360/5.9L Magnum with a little hotter cam and 4-bbl.
They made Aspen/Volare/Cordoba/Charger/Magnum/Mirada with 318 4 barrel, they had 360 heads and most duel exhaust on the 2 door cars..Also Newport/NewYorker/St.Regis,Gran Fury 79-81 and Diplomat/Gran Fury/leBaron from 77-on with 4 barrel 318's not only cop cars but anyone could buy a 318 4 barrel...Trucks and Vans also could be had with a 318 4 barrel...But not until the mid-late 70's.. I wouldnt drop a 5.9 Magnum...the 318 is good if you're going to drop a cam in it,keep the 318..My buddy in 1991 had a 73 Challenger with a mild 318 4 barrel, purple cam,polished/ported heads and he ran 13.30's in the 1/4 mile and the car drove and idled like a bone stock 318 2bbl,just a lot quicker! If anything it needs a big block,400 with a 440 crank and min 500 hp with low compression!
EV2 paint code was the same for Plymouth (which called it Torred) and Dodge (which called it HemiOrange). Modern Dodge Challengers use BOTH names for different colors. Makes it confusing for the E-Body crowd. :)
@@KlepsGarageThe Pace Car Challenger convertible was a 383 car - to enable it to run at enough speed to stay ahead of the field while it was under caution - with drum brakes ; when he ducked onto pit road at 115-20 mph, he had no prayer of getting stopped before hitting the photographers' stand.

You maybe correct. Going to try to make run and keep it original.
Bet the owner did not know it

That’s the third Conv. I saved. Found the same way. See ep. 18 and 41
Nice find! Looking forward to more vids on Challenger progress. 👍🏻 🍺
Thx. There will be. 😎
In 1983, i owned a 1971 challenger convertable. Red with a white top. Black interior. 318 automatic. Its so wild seeing this car.
Thx for watching 😎

Mopar’s are hard to find here as well. Thx for watching. 😎
I'm so glad the owner cared enough about it to keep it under a roof
I don’t know it could have been better. Believe it or not was on concrete just a lot of dirt on floor.
We're excited to see what you cook up with it!
Thx. The story gets more interesting stay tuned. 😎🍰
Great extraction. Well done.
Thx for watching Jim 😎
Grandpa knew his stuff that's good body work
I need to do some work. But not bad for torch welded
It should be a crime to leave a classic car like that neglected like that for so long! Glad you saved it. That guy obviously could care less for it.
Yeah, what he said
Going to try to resurrect it. I’ve cleaned out the inside floor pans are all good. It’s fairly decent.
Parts are all there.
I've seen worse!
That is an original one owner convertible challenger. Rare!
Finding that car alone is a huge plus , but a convertible to beat that, man you hit a Gold mine ! 😁✌
Oh it gets better stay tuned.

All the parts came with the car. There are two valance panels in the car. Thx for watching
Sad wanna be Mopar old fart types what? Funny how they ALL owned 440/6's and Hemi's.
Looks like great find! What’s your plans for that one? Would love to see it fixed up!! Thanks for taking us along.
Don’t know yet. Need to check overall condition may take offers.
Survived tornado no damage here.
Great score! Subscribed for updates on this one ✌
Thx man. Will be more to follow. And car has a real interesting story not told yet.
I've got a nice 360 3x2 carbs that would feel at home in that car.
Going to keep it original. I’ll tell you why in the next video.
So glad you are well ,I will keep your neighbors in my prayers. If your are in need let me know.
All good here tornado missed me by a tenth of a mile.
Puerto Rico music at the end 🙌🏻💖🇵🇷
It sounds kinda like the tango. And the music shows the struggle of what we went through😂😂😎 thx for watching.
Ps love Latin music. Hard to find, that is not monetized.
It's a 318 car there's no muscle in it.i would replace it with a 340.its a convertible so definitely worth fixing up
Or not. Only original once.
I like that car so match dodge is my type of car
Thx for watching 😎
That's so cool 😎

Yeah, always really "smart" to take a number matching engine out of a 71 Indy pace car. (y)

I've been told that is is my Grandma's old Challenger. I've sent you and email about it and would love if you got back to me
I'm hoping he responds to you
See email reply.
Cool car, but 318 two barrel not a muscle car. I have had several of these cars.
Yeah but I have one and can always put a hemi in it. 😎
I just LOVE all these E body experts ! Very "Mopar" embarrassing actually. Ok, NEXT : Kelp is it EV2 or red ?
I think Hemi orange. Or Ev2. Can’t make out the body tag. Rusty. And missing part of.

Punch it 180thous and you gotta 340 and the heads are the same also
Are the walls that thick
318 two barrell is all it needs because cop cars can do 150 not outrunning them today.
There is a reason it has the 318. Will detail in a future vid. Has do do with 49 other identical cars.
How fast does a guy want to go, with the top down?
Well at the Indy race it was over 100. I’m not. 😎

Nice find and car but this should have been a 3 minute part in a video at least bringing us to the starting of the engine or finding out it's seized.
