Almost every student finds Oxford very difficult and stressful at least some of the time, if they are doing it right. It is supposed to be hard. That is what gives it value. Revising one's opinion in public is something not everyone finds easy, but it's essential for science to progress and it's very commendable indeed that you did that.
@@tis_i_sana I'd have to watch it again to be sure, but I believe you have explicitly changed your opinion on why lectures are the way they are and whether it's appropriate. I don't remember if you were discussing lectures or tutorials or both. The issues are complex, and while there is some truth to your observation that tutors are hired on the basis of research ability not teaching ability, a) this is not 100% true and b) it may that skill in research in fact has a lot to do with skill in teaching. Food for thought.
@@zatakification I have watched both videos again and I have to say I have not explained the points very well 😅 As you say, the issue is super complex and it doesn’t help that the quality of teaching and life varies a lot between colleges - so one student will experience everything I’ve said in my first video and another will experience what I’ve said in this video! And for some students, they will experience both ends. On making these videos throughout my degree, this is the impression Oxford left on me at the time and that’s why I think everything I’ve said in the previous video and in this video is true at the same time Thanks for your comment and I hope this clarifies the 2 videos
