As good as Grealish is, 100 Millions is just madness.

I think Jonny Evans deserves a shout in this XI. His consistensy and experience helps settle down the backline of leicester city witch in turn allows players like Fofana and Söyüncü to be a little bit more free. He was cheap aswell, around 4 million from West Brom.
I do however understand why Tarkowski might be considered the better of the two, especially if you look at the age factor.

I think azpilicueta should be in this video, he would be one of the most experienced players on this xi, and has won multiple champions leauge, premier league and fa cups. as much i like lamptey, azpi is just one of the most consistent, and underrated full backs in the last decade, while just costing chelsea 7 million

To be fair you made the list based on the player’s transfer fee when they were bought, which would be vastly different if we use their current transfer value.
Which I think would be an interesting one, to make an XI with current value total of less than Jack Grealish.
That would be close to impossible as even aging or youth players who have played any time in the prem have a value of around 10 mil
think its more about showing clubs doing clever/shrewd business. any big club couldve waited for an andy robertson to blossom and then pay 50ish mil for him but liverpool only paid 12 cuz they did their homework.
this video isnt so much about graelish himself but about how one team decided to spend 100mil on him(a single player) while smart transfer decisions from other clubs couldve gotten a pretty damn solid/good starting 11 for the same amount of money.

Agreed, despite the scoffing, Raphinha is valued at 30 million by Transfermakt, and no way is he leaving Elland Road without paying considerably more than that, especially if Grealish is worth 100m.

As a Villa fan, this signing is crazy good for us. Noooooo way is he worth 100mil, an injury per season for 3 seasons. I love the player, he didn't force the move, or even ask the club to make him up for sale. But when the best club in the league, top 3 club in the world with Pep Guardiola, try this hard to sign you, you cannot say no. Especially since he will not win serious silverware with Villa in his prime. Grealish didn't have to sign a 5 year contract with us, which is probably the main reason that he is worth 100mil, and not significantly less, and he could have asked to leave, which would also make him easier to bargain for. Club legend, end of.

It sounds like a fun idea, and is a good title, but it's such a flawed concept. Reason being, you're comparing fees over different eras, comparing the current price of one player to a price of another in 2011.
Also, bigger clubs signing the stars of lesser clubs is "how modern football works" - another weird statement. It is how football has ALWAYS worked.
This aged well.. Zouma went for £35M and Raphinia £55M. There’s 90M for just those 2 in a single season.

Don't know what's wrong with the deal. A team that can afford him bought him with the money they had. Yes, money = winning, it has for the past 20+ years. The team that sells the player, in this case, Grealish, gets 100 million to build a more competitive team...Technically they could go out and build the team laid out in this video with that money and move up the table and secure a top-flight team and thus more money and build success as Leister has done. Or they could go out and buy young guys and invest the money in developing more young players like Dortmund or Ajax does to thrive. City get another top player, to do what they wanna do....continue to compete.

This is so fundamentally flawed. Robertson was 8 million then but he was not the best LB in the world or a star of his team for that fee. By that logic, you could look at how much Grealish would have cost in 2017. This doesn't take into account inflation in any way and is just lazy analysis. Would you buy Robertson for anything less than 70 million? He's not English, the captain or the player the team is built around. The fee is fitting for the current market and his new status in football

This doesn't make sense though. These are values of players several years ago. Current values would be different. If you compare Grealish's current price, then you have to include the current price of the other players too.

A prem league 11 that would not win the league, while City will most likely and maybe even the CL. Also, the contract values may add up to less than Grealish fee, but you wouldn't get then for those fees, you'd have to overbid on some of them
