The way you described how their rivalry would go on to shape the landscape of European football for almost a decade… gives me chills. Pogba was expected to be a world class midfield player at united. He was, instead, exactly what you explained; can do a few things brilliantly but wasn't interested in doing anything else to advance his game. He could get away with that in Italy with a supreme juventus side and at international level with France in midfields that would dominate games without him. As it says here, he is a freak of talent and therefore should dominate games, but he doesn't. Why? Because his attitude is wrong, simple as that. What a waste of talent he is. Single most frustrating footballer I can remember

He's never been an integral, indispensable part of any team that he's played in. He's been a flash luxury. Like I said, he should be dominating midfield but he doesn't because he doesn't have the right attitude, he therefore is a waste of talent. Anyone who has regularly watched him play, rather than just watched TH-cam clips and read stats, can tell you that. He should have been the best midfield player on the planet for all of his freakish talent but is nowhere near it, that is a waste of talent. He should have achieved much more than you have posted, that is a waste of talent. His attitude stinks, which is why this new united team are not sad to see him go, why mourinho fell out with him and why he hasn't dominated both the English and European games like his talent suggested he should have. We have a few highlights and flash clips amongst a mass of both mediocre and less than average performances. He is a waste of talent.

If you have to play him "a certain way" in a "certain team" with "a certain coach" and "certain players", how the fuck can he be considered a good player? All excuses for a highly talented player with a poor attitude. Pogba had all the attributes to DOMINATE games, not flit in and out with the odd goal or fancy pass or piece of skill, which is his career in a nutshell. People become accustomed to a certain way of living whether that be a life of luxury, a life of poverty, or somewhere in between. Figo's transfer was the most beautifuly executed advesarial signing ever. In the years before, Barcelona bullied al top Spanish clubs with its buying power, Real Madrid was debt riddled then. Figo's transfer DESTROYED Barcelona. Made Rivaldo even more abusive towards them (Figo being slighted by the way the club payed favourite with Rivaldo was the triggering cause of his departure) Barcelona squander every penny of the transfer and run into trouble... It changed the whole dynamic of Spanish football for half a decade.

Not only Shearer moved this very year to Newcatle for 15m pounds (Around 17.65m Euros) but Lentini costed substancially more to AC Milan in 1992 (15 m Euros for Lentini 12 m Euros for Lentini). 10:22 Actually I kind of feel like Neymar's played his best footballl in his final year at Barcelona. Also I think Neymar was in general a better player for Barcelona as he not only made them more successful than he made PSG, he also contributed more to the team at Barcelona than he did at PSG. Considering there were not too many terrible aspects about Crespos transfer, I would indeed rank Crespo above Neymar. Although it might be harsh to say, but I feel like that transfer killed off his career because he was destined to become so much more than he eventually did. He hasn't won a Champions league since 2015, he hasn't won the Ballon D'or despite the Messi-Ronaldo dinesty having been broken by a player that was not him but Luka Modric (and also should've been broken by Lewandowski not once but twice) and he wasn't able to up his game to for example bring further success than expected to his national team. The worldplayer that could've been

    • @huguesjouffrai9618
      @huguesjouffrai9618 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you are taking the perspective of a football fan or of the player.
      Here the point of view is that of the club.
      For PSG signing Neymar was an amazing deal, he has been playing at an absolutely insane level matching Ronaldo or Messi.
      The main issue for PSG is that he got injured a lot and missed some crucial Champion's league games (Real Madrid in round of 16th in 2018, Man United's come back in 2019).
      But he still brought PSG to a Champions League final and overall when you look at PSG's track record with Neymar in the competition, it's really good actually (lost twice in round of 16th when Neymar was injured including once against Ronaldo and Zidane's UCL winning team, reaching a final in 2020, beating Barcelona and Bayern to reach semis and lose to Guardiola's city in 2021, losing to Real who beat everybody in 2022).
      And the reason why Modric got a ballon d'or and not him has to do with Brazil losing in QF twice in the WC (both tight and unlucky games where Brazil dominated) while being both times the best team of the tournament while Modric's Croatia got more lucky and performed slightly better while being largely inferior (no disrespect, just facts).
      Overall would PSG sign Neymar again if they went back in the past? Well if they didn't know they would end up signing Messi I'd say definitely yes

    • @dontmindme6995
      @dontmindme6995 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@huguesjouffrai9618 Yeah I mean there's no point to argue that this deal definetely was beneficial for PSG.
      However it only was beneficial to PSG cause I believe that Brazil could've won a WC if Neymar had stayed at Barca. So next to the obvious ones that Barca and himself would have benefitted by staying at Barca, it's 3:1 for staying and that's why I believe it would've been better if he had stayed.
      Also in PSG's success you can't play down the role of Kylian Mbappe who joined PSG in the same transfer window as Neymar did and at least since last summer he is the more important player for PSG than Neymar. Not neccessarily on the pitch, but definetely in terms of reputation, representation and finances.
      But coming back to the 2018 WC and Croatia's run to the final, they definetely had it easier on their run than Brazil did, but progressing in a WC is simply luck and an understanding how to get far. I think France showed it particularly well this past WC cause they never did much, but they always did enough to barely make it but they did every time. That's something that Croatia did in 2018 and that's something, that cool and smartness, that Brazil are lacking even though they have the quality that is required to win a WC

    • @huguesjouffrai9618
      @huguesjouffrai9618 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dontmindme6995
      I agree with you that there's a lot of luck involves in the knockout stage of a WC and Brazil was just unlucky the past two WCs.
      But I don't see how Neymar staying at Barca would have improved his level: he has been playing at an unbelievable level in PSG. The only problem is that he got injured for both world cup (especially before 2018) and I don't think we can say that's because of his transfer.
      About playing with Mbappe I think he formed some incredible attacking trios, duos and quadruples (idk how to say) with Cavani, Icardi, Di Maria and finally with Messi + Mbappe which is more interesting than another few seasons of MSN in a declining Barca (that was going bankrupt anyway and that performed way worse than PSG in the UCL).
      Finally I still think you're thinking from your point of view of a fan who would have preferred to see him play in Barcelona, but this video's analysis focuses on good signings for the clubs (otherwise everytime either Ronaldo was signed it was a bad move for the selling club imo).
      An example is Oscar's move to China: from a fan's pov it's a heartbreak, for him and his family that might have been an amazing move that will give them financial stability for generations. So you have to take one point of view before saying if a transfer is good or bad.
      So even though I mostly agree with you I don't come to the same conclusion.

    • @dontmindme6995
      @dontmindme6995 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@huguesjouffrai9618 I think for players like Neymar the fans' perspective is actually more important because of what he means to the football world. He is probably the one footballer that gives this magical energy of the beautiful game like Pele, Rivaldo and Ronaldinho did before him. He has, because of what he is and what he does, an incredible influence on everyone who comes in touch with football because he promotes football a different way than Ronaldo and Messi did and do.
      But concerning his potentially failed career, I obviously can't prove that Neymar would've played on a different level if he'd stayed, so I'll give you that.
      About your Oscar argument, I think he had it in him to play multiple years of competitive football at the highest level in europe, which, one might argue, should've earned him enough money to live a very good life for 20 people. He was still in his early 20s back then mind you. Therefore I will never understand why he went for quick money especially because the PL and Chelsea in particular aren't exactly renowned for paying small wages. For me financial based moves coupled with competitive downgrade will never be a thing I will understand.
      For me the only real winner in the Neymar transfer was PSG, but Neymar certainly could boost his ego back then because he wasn't filling the shadow of Messi anymore but could cast his on the other PSG players, so maybe also a small W for Neymar as well.
      Thanks tho for having a calm and based discussion with me, unfortunately I don't see that very often on YT

    • @huguesjouffrai9618
      @huguesjouffrai9618 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dontmindme6995 haha no pb, thank you too it's a nice change from the usual answers I get when I argue with strangers on YT (people can be very... passionate about anything)
      I agree and maybe I'm biased because I've been living and Paris and I was able to see Neymar play because of the move (which I agree is magical).
      I agree that Neymar promoted football in a different way, closer to how Zidane or Ronaldinho promoted football (I think Cristiano at the beginning was also incredibly spectacular before becoming a little less spectacular and more clinical like Messi). Neymar is a real artists, he understands that people are not just watching sports for the results: I'm watching games because it's a show and I want to be amazed and entertained. He also brings emotion to the game, he's not afraid to show his emotions and the way he play, with passion and style creates incredible emotions. He's the quintessential Brazilian player, Ronaldinho's true heir in my opinion.
      But I think he had accomplished everything at Barca and it's great that he could share this emotion and this passion in France which is a big football country that doesn't see as many superstars as Spain, Italy, England and Germany.
      Whenever PSG plays somewhere in France, the stadiums are full because people want to see the magic.

    Ok Alfie, I normally agree with you, but I gotta say it: Bale ahead of Ronaldo, Shearer, Vieri and Zidane is just borderline insane. I honestly don't know why you love the guy so much. Sure, he was a very good player at the beggining at Real, and then he just said "you know what? Screw it." and was basically a parasite do the club for four or five year. How the hell is he 3rd?
    Just a quick though experiment, if you will: Both Bale and Zidade went to the same club (Real Madrid) for record breaking transfer fees. Both were inportant pieces - but probably not THE most important pieces - of two iconic teams (BBC and Galaticos). And yes, Bale did score a great goal in a Champions league final, but so did Zidane. In fact, Zidane's goal was more decisive. Both of them ran out their contracts at the club, but whilst Zidane left with grace and became a club icon, Bale left a sour taste in the mouth of Real Madrid fans. How the hell is he 3rd best in your list if he is arguably not even ahead of Zidade, that you placed 7th? And don't even get me started in Vieri, Shearer and Ronaldo.
