Home Free is incredible. Everything they do is great. And although they are a Country A-cappela group, they can really sing all genres. They really all have great voices with their own specialties. Even Adam Rupp who started the group with his brother Chris Rupp. Chris left the group in 2016 to go solo but also to start other projects with his sister, among others.
Adam Rupp-Beatboxer but is actually an inhuman freaking good mouth artist.
Tim Foust- Deep bass but also as a tenor and everything in between is possible.
Austin Brown-High tenor with his great runs and high notes.
Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses)-Tenor, with a voice like velvet and so much soul.
Adam Chance (back left, who is called Chance) - Baritone/ Bass, a voice so smooth and sexy. And who here also makes the Jaw harp sound.
There is not a permanent lead singer in Home Free, but they look (listen) at every song whose voice suits it best. The best harmony, no egos, no rivalries, great personalities etc. Besides, they can all beatbox (see their live performance 9to5). ..
This is one of the many covers they do in addition to various originals, and each one is just amazing.
Take the time to discover Home Free because it will be a great tour. For me they are number 1 A-Cappella group

Respectfully, I'd disagree with this... Home Free don't have *A* lead singer, they have *FOUR*
They could have five, but Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, prefers to remain as the background specialist.

    • @JoanN63

@@EarlJohn61 Sorry if I made it a bit unclear, but that's what I actually mean. 😊 That there is not a permanent lead singer, but see (or actually listen) which voice fits the song best. I also mentioned earlier that all five of them can sing (see beginning of comment). But I'll correct it a bit😉

The only way you can hear and enjoy the subtleties is with a good set of headphones (each.) Try listening to this again with a good set of "cans" and you'll pick up things you missed the first time.

You have just been introduced to the best a cappella group out there. These guys are all so talented. They lean towards country but they can do any genre. They all can take the lead depending on whos voice is best for the song. They are known for their tight harmonies. Tim Foust is one of the best bass singers out there & their beatboxer vocal percussionist Adam Rupp can simulate any sound. This song is very old & is done in the bluegrass country style. It was used in the movie "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" starring George Clooney.

    Great reaction!!
The group started in 2001 by brothers Chris and Adam Rupp
They are the only country Aappella group but they can honestly sing any genre and they do
They won The Sing Off season 4 2013 that's where they became very popular.
Fans of Home Free are known as Home Fries and are very loyal to the guys.
Adam Rupp: Beatboxer Extraordinaire -Tenor can make any sound imaginable (A whole drum kit, harmonicia (his Nomonica we call it )plane flyovers, trains, castanets, bugs ,birds etc).
    Co founder from Mankato Minnesota.
Rob Lundquist :Lead tenor(beard and glasses) very soulful voice from Minneapolis,Minnesota
Tim Foust :Bass (had long dark hair now short with grey ) 5+ octave range can go so low he blows speakers or sky high from Nederland,Texas
Austin.Brown:High Tenor ( Long wavy hair ) voice of an angel from Tifton Georgia.
Adam Chance(Aka Chance):Baritone/Bass deep, rich voice(Does the juice harp in Man Of Constant Sorrow) has short dark hair short beard from Baldwin County,Alabama.Replaced Chris Rupp ( Adams Brother and co founder)in 2016
There is no lead singer they each sing the song ( except Adam the beatboxer) to see who’s voice or voices suits it the best. Adam can sing but he prefers beatboxing to hear him sing listen to How Great Thou Art or th-cam.com/video/Sm1xhYZiSrM/w-d-xo.html
They have collaborated with many great singers and legends
    Don McLean:American Pie
    Oak Ridge Boys:Elvira
Kenny Rodgers:Children Go Where I Send Thee
    Billy Gilman:One Voice
    Alabama:Christmas In Dixie
Lee Greenwood/ The United States Air Force Band :God Bless The USA
    Any many more.
They have a very large playlist of covers and Original songs
End of the Road: Boyz 2 Men cover
    When A Loves A Woman
    Road Sweet Road (original)
    Dive Bar Saints (Original)
    Helplessly Hoping (5 part harmony)
    Listen To The Music
Mayday(DON’T WATCH TILL YOU ARE VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE GROUP AND THEIR RANGES )
There's not a song that you pick from their 155 + catalog that is bad I haven't found one yet.
They are just funny, down to earth, humble nice guys.Sorry for the long read

Home Free leans toward country, but they can and do sing all genres. Man of Constant Sorrow is a good introduction to the group. They have the ability to make you laugh. They don't take themselves too seriously in that they are very down-to-earth guys. The guys all enjoy each other's company and have fun in what they do. They also can make you tear up, have goosebumps, and inspire you. They are all extremely talented and dedicated artists.
Humorous songs, Buttz Remix, Thank God I'm a Country, Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget, Honey I'm Good, Hillbilly Bone, Country Fried Pop, Working for a Living, It's All About the Bass, Songs that didn't make the cut (live performance), Nine to Five, Brother, Between a Rock and a Heartache, Zombies vs. Hillbillies with Voiceplay
Other Songs: How Great Thou Art, Brothers in Arms, Hopelessly Hoping, The Driver, Listen to the Music When a Man Loves a Woman, Nessum Dorma (opera aria with Rob and Austin), Mayday, Ring of Fire with Avi Kapl
They have nearly two hundred videos, including collaborations with extremely well-known artists, as well not so well-known artists. Other commenters no doubt will recommend more of their vast body of work. All of their work is stellar, no matter the material. There is even a drum solo with Adam Rupp, the beatboxer, which displays his extraordinary skills.,

There are three main A cappella groups today. The first is Pentatonix. They tend to be more Euro Pop, R&B, pop music. The next is Home Free. They tend to be country, R&B, and pop. Two of their singers also did a version of Nessun Dorma, an opera song which totally blew opera singers away with how good it was. The third group is VoicePlay. They are Disney production group that sings in front of live audiences at Disney. They tend to be More show oriented music. Up-and-coming the bass gang. A group of young Basinger’s who are absolutely phenomenal. The Basinger in this vid is Tim Faust Who has been known to blow subwoofers at live concerts!

The guy who opened and closed the song was Adam Chance. He sang bass for his previous vocal group. Tim was the bass singer on the verses. It's a plus to have 2 bass singers in the same group. Home Free does great covers, such as Listen to the Music and Take Me Home Country Roads. They do an instrumental interlude for Can't Stop the Feeling. I'm going to go out on a limb here and welcome the two of you, to the family of 'Home Fries!' Many make the mistake of attempting to compare one singer/group to another - how would this even be possible. Much like apples to oranges - both great fruits in their own right, but, uniquely different, with distinctive characteristics to enjoy.
We all have different tastes and genres of music which we personally and subjectively prefer...
It is my humble opinion that y'all will enjoy the enormous talent which Home Free brings to our ears. They are a fun-loving group of guys who aren't afraid to tackle any genre and are probably the first in line to laugh at themselves for our entertainment.
Adam Rupp, the ultra-talented Beat-Boxer, has been aptly described as a literal 'Freak of Nature! Check out his drum solo videos.
Adam Chance (Baritone) - Rob Lundquist (Tenor) - Austin Brown (high tenor with a very clear and limitless high tenor range) - Tim Faust (The Sub-Woofer destroyer who truly does posses a 5 octave range.
I won't bore you with suggestions, which will allow you to discover and enjoy their offerings.
Each and everyone of them are good enough vocalists to be successful on their own, however, they do sound heavenly together. Their covers, sometimes, outshines (technically) the originals. (just my personal opinion)

Beatboxer Adam Rupp is a 2 time world champion beatboxer! These guys do it all! Pop, R&B, country. Over 200 videos and climbing. The best acapella because of the ability of beatboxer and the best bass singer in the world. He has a 5 octave vocal range! Watch out for this rabbit hole, you may never return.

Homefree are the guys you would meet at a tailgate, Pentatonix or PTX for short, they would be considered the student council, and last but not least, you have voice play, better known as the theater kids of acapella
Welcome to the rabbit hole they call acapella music
It is a deep delicious journey down that hole
You will be stunned by the variation in style and also singers., But it's worth every second.
Voiceplay has Geoff castellucci, who can literally blow your doors off with his subharmonics
There is not a bad song in the bunch . Pentatonix won their first of three Grammys, doing a acapella mix called Get Lucky which they recorded using one of their members kitchen and closet, as the recording space, it's worth the watch and listen

Country? Yes, and plenty of other stuff as well. Rob and Austin, the two tenors featured in this one, recently did Nessum Dorma, an operatic piece, together, I think it was called something like "2 country singers try to sing opera". The group also recorded American Pie with special guest, Don McLean. They are excellent.

Great reaction guys! Whether you know it or not, you are at the precipice of one of the deepest rabbit holes out there! Pentatonix, Voiceplay and Home Free are the big 3 acapella groups on youtube. All have great vocals. However, IMO, the beatboxer for HF pushes them to the top. Please listen to more. I suspect we have a couple new Home Fries about to hatch!

Tim Foust, the bass, is a freak of nature, posessing a 5 octave range. Note how, after his solo verse, he drops a full octave to sing the chorus.
During live performances, the beat boxer uses a loop recording so he can also perform the harmonica parts.

Dave here. Get ready. You have entered one of the neatest rabbit holes ever. You like Austin's voice, listen to him featured in When a Man Loves A Woman and his individual effort on Les Mes song, Bring Him Home. They do country but also, rock blues, opera and lots in=between. Best arrrangements are Do YOu Hear What I Hear and Mayday. Best harmony-all but maybe more on Brothers in Arms. Mny funny videos - I like Brother. And a few faves: any of Tim Faust Doo Wop (start with Stay) or HF ONe Man Band or Broken Road. All amazing, and wonderful live. Enjoy.

Best a capella group out there. Lots of videos on their channel to choose from. Can't go wrong with any of them, but I would suggest The Driver (good opportunjty to hear each of them highlighted), How Great Thou Art (master class in 5 part harmony) or Listen to the Music (which really highlights the vocal percussionist). Happy listening.

Are you guys Canucks? Sounded a little like maybe so.
Great first reaction. These guys are great. They do MANY types of music but do lean country for sure. Because 4 of them can sing lead they can have many different sounds.
Their fans are called Home Fries.
A few of my favorites -
    In the Blood
    Some Girls Do
When a Man Loves a Woman
    Hillbilly Bone
    How Great thou Art
They have everything from silly/funny to sad. Pick what you are in the mood for and they have songs for it.
Also a fair amount of original songs as well. "Dreamer" is a great original. They have collaborated with many other artists as well.
    Enjoy the ride!

Home Free is so awesome with their arrangements and the arrangements are so tight and clean! The bass is Tim Foust and he easily has a 5 octave vocal range ! He never strains to go very low bass or high tenor! You’re shocked by his vocal abilities. Austin and Rob are tenors! They did a video singing opera ! Adam is the baritone and can sing bass when Tim is singing a lead in various songs ! Then lastly Adam is the beatboxing genius! He’s the best beatboxing individual and has won championships! However he also sings baritone if the song doesn’t require beatboxing to replicate instrumental sounds! This group is phenomenal and so awesome! Their newest CD has 90% of the songs written by Austin , Tim , Chris Chatham or Adam Wakefield of Texas Hill .
