Also Austin's beautiful lady Amberly was in the studio with him when he recorded this, so when he was looking at the camera, he was actually singing it to her. And remember this was done during quarantine, so the guys weren't even together. The backing harmonies are great, along with Tim's bass. And Adam's vocal percussion is outstanding. Drummers have often commented on just how realistic his sound is. This is why these guys are my favorite a cappella group.

Take Me Home Country Roads cover is a Home Fry Favorite. They slowed it down, added an R&B vibe and it's total fire! It's one you won't want to miss and features all the singers.
Sledge: made it soulful and sexy; Bolton: made the story a tragedy; Brown: made it a wonderful thing to be loved by a man! Not to mention that Bolton had a back-up orchestra complete with violins (if I recall). while Austin and Home Free just simply delivered it with their fabulous harmonies. In the end (and I've lived through all 3 version), this one is my favorite.

I played all three versions/renditions to a melianol (27) and a senior (62) The senior is a die hard fan of Bolton....Both, hands down, passed the torch to Austin and consider his rendition King!
Yes, Austin nailed it. He gives himself completely here and also plays very well with the cameras. The great harmonies, deep bass and the unbelievably freaking good beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds finish it all off for me. I think it sounds perfect because of all the different beautiful voices. I grew up performing Percy Sledge which I already loved. I have seen this more times than I can count and I STILL get wrapped up in Austin's vocals and have to step back and truly admire the background vocals and Adam's beatboxing. They are, as usual, fantastic, too. Austin can both belt AND control his voice at those high notes. Not a lot of singers have that ability. And, yes, this was recorded in a studio where he was most likely standing at the mic, he is totally able to sing like this while seated - many videos by spectators at performances will attest to that. Great reaction guy's Home Free is a very family oriented group of guys that brings their better halfs on their videos sometimes enuff so as time goes on and you get to know each of them as well as their wife's and kids and I wouldn't suggest listening to there cover of Mayday until y'all know what they're voice types are it wouldn't have the same affect. 👍

Agree 100%! When they hit us with "Mayday" we already knew everyone and the normal range and quality of their voices. Adam rarely sings, so that leaves Austin & Robb (both of whom you've heard) and the low voices: Tim Foust and Adam Chance. Great reaction Phil and Sam! There are three outstanding acapella groups on youtube. Voiceplay, Pentatonix and Home Free all have great vocals. However, IMO, the beatboxer pushes HF to the top. There are several youtube videos of him doing a drum solo (without drums) at various live shows. I think the one dated 2015 is very good. I saw them live in the fall and they sounded fantastic. Keep it up and you'll soon be new Home Fries.
Hold off on Mayday by Cam until you are familiar with each member and what they sing. Mayday is full of surprises that gets overlooked if you react to it to soon
It's definitely worth the wait! Since Cam isn't well-known, it's not a bad idea to listen to her original performance ( th-cam.com/video/eRrCMEXPjWo/w-d-xo.html ) as preparation for listening to HF's cover. Listening to Cam and HF separately, you don't notice that HF performs it in exactly the same key that she did! (They did the same thing with "Crazy.")

Great reaction. They can not only do many genres, they are known for their humorous videos. Try The Butt Remix, Hillbilly Bone and Thank God I'm A Country Boy. They also tried a little opera-Nessum Dorma-unbelievable!
Austin made this song his own. He took the lead here, but Home Free does not have a lead singer. They either take different verses (as they did on Man of Constant Sorrow) or choose the person who's voice best fits the song. Austin also has a solo channel. There is not a bad song on there, but I would highly recommend Unchained Melody (which has over 12 million views) and Bring Him Home from Les MIz.

Add in the fact that this was done during lockdown so they weren't even near each other (thus the screens) They were dedicated to keep putting out music so they figured out a way to record in their homes and still work with their record producer. Once they had the tracks, then they had to each film their own parts for the videos. They put out an entire album of songs for the fans to enjoy during that time while living in three different states! Their dedication to music and the fans is top notch! So you've listened to old country and soft pop, how about some R&B with "End Of The Road" with Rob as lead. Or an old Doobie Brothers classic "Listen To The Music" (Austin Lead again) For the other guys as leads - listen to Cover Me Up (Adam Chance Lead but watch all the way to the end of the video) and Hillbilly Bone (Tim Foust Lead) Check out Adam Rupp's drum solo (There are many videos out there but any one of them is amazing!) Then listen to Helplessly Hoping for pure 5 part harmony bliss! Then...you will be ready for the cover of Cam's "Mayday".

If you havent seen their cover of "Blue Ain't Your Color" you should really react to that. It is the only song they have done that has Real choreography throughout. They always say they can't dance but given enough practice they are all very smooth dancers. The song is one of my favs. Thank you for what you do.

The original was by the late Percy Sledge in 1966. By the way, Austin Brown (lead singer on this) ,Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Chance (baritone/bass) are also song writers and have originals with both Home Free and on their own channels. Keep falling down the rabbit hole - they sing everything from gospel to goofy. Austin & Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses) even have a duet of the opera aria "Nessun Dorma" on Austin's channel - it's mind-blowing.
P.S. - Their live videos are even better than the studio ones - watch the live version of Austin's original "Stargazer Lilies" (dedicated to his lady Amberly).
Two other great numbers you might like of theirs are Blue Ain't Your Color and their cover of the Doobie Brothers Listen to the Music. Two different styles that they are so great at. A few people here have mentioned that the other four are recording from their homes while Austin is in the studio with whose ever on the sound board and his lovely lady Amberly. Home Free has been my favorite singers by far for a while now. I would suggest some of their other songs like, Mayday, Elvira (a colab with the original artist), Ring of Fire, Sea Shanty Melody. Also the "Bass" singer Tim Foust I would check his solo stuff out (any of these guys solo stuff really) but defintely Tim singing will you still love me tomorrow/stay. Great reaction Phil and Sam! There are three outstanding acapella groups on youtube. Voiceplay, Pentatonix and Home Free all have great vocals. However, IMO, the beatboxer pushes HF to the top. There are several youtube videos of him doing a drum solo (without drums) at various live shows. I think the one dated 2015 is very good. I saw them live in the fall and they sounded fantastic. Keep it up and you'll soon be new Home Fries.

Check out their cover of End of the road. It's amazing. Boyz to men's end of the road song is almost impossible to cover and they nailed it.

Hold off on Mayday by Cam until you are familiar with each member and what they sing. Mayday is full of surprises that gets overlooked if you react to it to soon
It's definitely worth the wait! Since Cam isn't well-known, it's not a bad idea to listen to her original performance ( th-cam.com/video/eRrCMEXPjWo/w-d-xo.html ) as preparation for listening to HF's cover. Listening to Cam and HF separately, you don't notice that HF performs it in exactly the same key that she did! (They did the same thing with "Crazy.")

Austin had his beautiful girlfriend Amberly in the studio while he was singing this. The guy with the glasses and beard is Rob Lundquist lead tenor. The other guy with the beard is Adam Chance baritone (goes by Chance). The dark haired guy is Tim Foust the bass. And Adam Rupp is the beatboxer. Please wait a little longer to listen to the Cam song from them. They actually have out three Christmas cds. Check out The Butt's Medley, All About the Bass for a few good ones.
Great reaction. They can not only do many genres, they are known for their humorous videos. Try The Butt Remix, Hillbilly Bone and Thank God I'm A Country Boy. They also tried a little opera-Nessum Dorma-unbelievable!
Austin made this song his own. He took the lead here, but Home Free does not have a lead singer. They either take different verses (as they did on Man of Constant Sorrow) or choose the person who's voice best fits the song. Austin also has a solo channel. There is not a bad song on there, but I would highly recommend Unchained Melody (which has over 12 million views) and Bring Him Home from Les MIz.

Good reaction! Mayday originally sung by Cam is a good one, but wait until you are familiar with the members and their vocal roles before reacting to Mayday. Your experience will be so much richer. For a Christmas carol, I'd recommend Do You Hear What I Hear. Adam Rupp, beat boxer, arranged it, and it's incredible. Subbing for more Home Free!

Add in the fact that this was done during lockdown so they weren't even near each other (thus the screens) They were dedicated to keep putting out music so they figured out a way to record in their homes and still work with their record producer. Once they had the tracks, then they had to each film their own parts for the videos. They put out an entire album of songs for the fans to enjoy during that time while living in three different states! Their dedication to music and the fans is top notch! So you've listened to old country and soft pop, how about some R&B with "End Of The Road" with Rob as lead. Or an old Doobie Brothers classic "Listen To The Music" (Austin Lead again) For the other guys as leads - listen to Cover Me Up (Adam Chance Lead but watch all the way to the end of the video) and Hillbilly Bone (Tim Foust Lead) Check out Adam Rupp's drum solo (There are many videos out there but any one of them is amazing!) Then listen to Helplessly Hoping for pure 5 part harmony bliss! Then...you will be ready for the cover of Cam's "Mayday".

If you havent seen their cover of "Blue Ain't Your Color" you should really react to that. It is the only song they have done that has Real choreography throughout. They always say they can't dance but given enough practice they are all very smooth dancers. The song is one of my favs. Thank you for what you do.

The original was by the late Percy Sledge in 1966. By the way, Austin Brown (lead singer on this) ,Tim Foust (bass) and Adam Chance (baritone/bass) are also song writers and have originals with both Home Free and on their own channels. Keep falling down the rabbit hole - they sing everything from gospel to goofy. Austin & Rob Lundquist (beard and glasses) even have a duet of the opera aria "Nessun Dorma" on Austin's channel - it's mind-blowing.
P.S. - Their live videos are even better than the studio ones - watch the live version of Austin's original "Stargazer Lilies" (dedicated to his lady Amberly).
Supposedly Austin's wife was just off to the side and he was singing to her. Thats why you can feel the emotion in it.
Another good one they did during the pandemic and is called Sea Shanty Medley. They recorded each part separately but it blends beautifully.
Bolton covered this also. Persy Sledge recorded this I think in the 60s or 70s

Two other great numbers you might like of theirs are Blue Ain't Your Color and their cover of the Doobie Brothers Listen to the Music. Two different styles that they are so great at. A few people here have mentioned that the other four are recording from their homes while Austin is in the studio with whose ever on the sound board and his lovely lady Amberly. To see the lady that has all his attention check out Austin Brown's Take the Night Off and Home Free's video for the song Brother. It's sweet to see the love between them and hilarious to see her beat the crap out of him in the second video, and then hold the water bottle for him afterward.

Home Free has been my favorite singers by far for a while now. I would suggest some of their other songs like, Mayday, Elvira (a colab with the original artist), Ring of Fire, Sea Shanty Melody. Also the "Bass" singer Tim Foust I would check his solo stuff out (any of these guys solo stuff really) but defintely Tim singing will you still love me tomorrow/stay.
