HUGE THANKS to ExpressVPN for offering all Food Ranger viewers 3 months free and 49% off their yearly package using this link: ExpressVPN.com/Thefoodranger . Travelers need ExpressVPN to stay safe online and to unblock any site. I personally use it for Netflix, even while at home in Canada, but also while traveling to unblock content and episodes that are geoblocked, and I also use it for security, because airport wifi and hotel wifi is often very insecure, leaving my data vulnerable. By connecting to one of their servers around the world, it’s just like my computer or phone is in that location, and all data sent while connected to their VPN is secure, safe, and private from others to see, so I know that my data won’t be hacked or looked at by others. Thanks so much for watching, and we have tons more videos coming up for you! Please leave me a comment below letting me know what you thought about this episode, thanks so much!!!

In Shenzhen, another city in Guangdong Province and where most of my family lives, Cantonese isn’t prevalent. When Shenzhen became a special economic zone, a lot of northerners flocked to Shenzhen. But due to its proximity with Hong Kong, there are still some Cantonese speakers in Shenzhen, but not that many.

I understand that the man wanted to share how he ate it but I feel like he should of asked Trevor first because if he didn't and like someone said the man was told to leave Trevor alone then the man simply stole food and that is showing disrespect. If someone I didn't know came to my table and did what this man did I would report it to staff. Different countries have different rules around food so maybe this is normal or the man was desperate for food.

In case you didn't know, sashimi actually came from China, known as Kuai and Xuan, with fish, beef and lamb for Kuai and veal and pork for xuan. They are also dipped in a sauce made from scallion, Sichuan pepper or mustard seed, a role fulfilled by wasabi in Japanese cuisine. It slowly went out of popularity until the Qing dynasty and is only consumed mainly in Southern China like Guangdong, ChaoZhou as well as Singapore and Malaysia during Chinese New Year today in as Yusheng, in the form of a salad type dish dressed in a sour type of sauce like vinegar or plum sauce.
It is in fact quite similar to the original dish.

Some are not for everyone, but if you want to eat like the locals, you have to dive deep. Keep up the good work. It's funny how your Mandarin was better than some of theirs as Cantonese is their mother tongue.

This is well known, and I believe it has a historical background, and dates back to the centuries of instability and lawlessness with conflicting warlords. Self preservation because going to help just meant you got yourself killed. This has been ingrained into the Chinese psyche. Malaysia as well, people crying out for help and neighbours not lifting a finger to help. Or in Germany in a big town, but here more to do with public spirit, where someone getting into trouble, but we as foreigners had to take the initiative to save the person from injury.
