I took a batch of computer case panels for powder coat, and a few of them had holes in them which need patched. There are a NUMBER of ways to go about patching them and **John** proposed to weld them. The guy turned my panels into T-1000 from Terminator 2.
I find it very enjoyable to watch a true professional in their field. “If you don’t have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to have the time to do it right the second time?” -Dad.

Yeah his attention to detail is next to none I'm glad I found someone like him to do the wheels on my R8. well this is a custom job, but I believe a typical powder coating with one or two layers to get a unique finish would be around $800 to $1,200 + tax but every individual would need to get a personalized quote

I have been searching for hours for the best way to achieve this exact color and this video is DEFINITELY it , such amazing work !! I commend you on editing the video to display the craftsmen ship in its full glory will never find a shop in the MIAMI, FL are that can do this same level of work but I’ll ask em to look at this video for reference lol

brought my wheels to get powder coated and the place said they sandblasted them and tried to powder coat but it did not stick because of a clear coat that someone had sprayed on my wheels. now they’re saying i need to pay an extra $100 for them to sit in a solution to take off the clear coat. was wondering if they’re trying to get extra money out of me or they messed up and are now trying to scam me to make up for they’re screw up? response would be great thanks!

Before any grit, say 80.
After preferably 180
I work for Oerlikon Balzers and we have 4 coating vessels in our facility we had more but we got rid of two because we don't do those types of coatings anymore. We've done wheels and other random stuff. We also do gun parts, aerospace, car industry, robotics, medical and all types of industries around the world. Never seen a clear PVD coating tho that's cool. You should put some TiN or DLC for the looks but TiN is the cheapest and DLC is the complete opposite 😂 oh BTW a sales guy showed me a new coating coming out that's the most expensive around and it's like motor oil in water in color 😂 sorry best way I can describe it. Funny I was on here looking for things to show my son what I do for a living

From where we can buy the liquid Gun Metal Paint which you have been spray down after Powder COATING
I just finished washing my car and noticed that when the dealership rotated my wheels they damaged each one of them in several spots I think the air wrench grinded against my deep dish factory rim. I have a Challenger Widebody 20x11 OEM rims. Each rim has 4 deep gashes from their tool. I have not spoken with them yet, I do not believe we have a rim place like yours down here in North Carolina. Any suggestions? I would like them replaced but am afraid they are going to hand me a bottle of touch up paint.
Really isn't a rim shop in North Carolina that you can go to? Maybe the dealership know somebody. This is why I hate dealerships they don't care for your property once they have sold it to you. Document everything and make sure you go there and get a resolution. Best of luck friend but don't give up if they try to push you around
I have a 2015 q60s limited and all 4 rims were scratched while I’m switching them from one tire to the other I want to know if I wanna do them at home what should I do especially that my car came out of the dealership with powder coated rims

Doing this job at home would be very difficult you could try but you will never get these results
I guess I’ll try and let’s see if it works out anyways all I need is just to do it even if it’s shitty work till I get the rim and tire warranty but they were like we need the rim to be done so we could send pictures to the dealership so it would get it
what tipe is that to remove paint or its that some spacial granulation ? Its work greate mine one its making 2 much dmg on Rims.

Nice job. Maybe a stupid question but is the color special paint or just paint with solvents? I asume you baked the last layer not on 200 degrees because the paint is melting or not.
I believe it is just paint with solvents but honestly I'm not a hundred percent sure.

I want to powder coat wheels for my new Bronco but well the powder coated hold up doing off road use or just get chip up .
It would hold up really well you just need to ensure you go to a proper installer.

what are these liquid paints? what is their name. because I also work in Europe with liquid paints.
Need some advice if possible. I have just had my wheels powered coated (obviously not from you) and the face edge of the wheel, the paint as come off. I picked the car up 6 days ago and only driven it twice. Not kerbed them or driven down any pot holes.

It is as durable as it can get but all of that requires proper prep work. If the prep work was insufficient this can happen

Can I still powder coat my rims if they are plastidipped? As in like y’all would be able to remove the plastidip and still powder coat them black? Or they won’t worry anymore since they got plastdipped 😔?
I took my plasti dip wheels in they will take it off befor they paint at no cost extra

Except I didn’t see any type of primer used on the rims. If you get into the more custom colors hot powder coating can actually change the color of the powder coat, often times making the part darker than the original color if it was shot at room temp and then baked.

Moral of the story, don't ask anyone to weld unique/irreplaceable parts until that person has demonstrated to you that they can actually do it.

All that and then the dick heads at the dealerships smash your wheels onto the balance machine, remove the old weights with a screw driver, impact guns and then you’re back to where you started. Thanks to the ‘technicians’ making $10 per hour.
