WATCH TILL THE END to see the trailer for this Saturdays detail! You don't want to miss this one!
Also... thanks to a generous valet guy for restructuring my rims lol
Hahahahaha What can't you do? It's really cool. Excellent. It's really perfectly restored the wheels. I will practice by watching the video again and again.
🙄🙄🙄🙄 Wow, thank goodness you knew how to fix it, that sucks!!!!
Not to sure
Probalby one of the best repair vids I have seen. So clear, calm, loaded with details, free of hype and great footage. And the results look A Grade! Much appreciated from my home garage here in Avalon Sydney Australia
The wheel looked amazing after being restored, like brand new!!.
Wow an actual detailed products list. Thanks
Funny, I clicked on this video because I wanted to see one of the tools it appeared you were using that I hadn't seen before. Turns out, it was a cookie.
lmao
When you DIY you put alot of love into it and it shows with the outcome 👍
Perfect and thank you. This is how I'll be spending my weekend for my 4 series.
One of the best videos when it comes to rim restoration. Well done!
Great job. That looks fantastic . WOW! Great job. Well done!.
El mejor video de los muchos que he visto. Con el Dremel se hace un excelente trabajo. Lijas y mucha paciencia.
Hey man, thank you for this great video, you did an amazing job restoring those wheels 😎🙌
God bless you and everyone who watches this video 🙏
super excited about doing this myself. I just bought some old, questionable BBS gold rims (saved over 2100 bucks because they are rare rims). I have the potential to save so much money. Not to mention I have a Black Widow sprayer that I believe will give me some banging results!!
thank you so much for posting this!! I am so grateful to you!!
No wonder You have so many subs!
Great video,and beautifully explained...
Thank you very much!
And it was all done with flip fops. Respect for you sir.! Thank for the tips, im going to do this with my honda wheels..
Wow, great job! Thank you…I need to do this for all four of my ribs. Thank you for the step by step bro
Any time!
Hard to watch a man do auto work in flip flops, but you do you sir. Lol great vid
Old comment, but I just figured I'd throw out there that I just did a new charge pipe, turbo outlet pipe, downpipe, and brakes in crocks.
What!? I do all my shit in slides. Pulling engines, swapping engines, complete partouts, etc. Always in my "garage slides"
Wow just wow I can’t believe it’s that easy to do. Amazing thanx for sharing
Worth giving a try as curb rash on 4 tires was an estimated 800-1200$. I was thinking of doing this, but concerned about possibly leaving rim unbalanced with bondo. also wife’s car has 2 tone paint with high gloss black in between spokes. Will be interesting.
I just know them curbs come right back at ya later 😛
The weight of the metal that was scraped off will be heavier than the weight of the Bondo you apply. Bonda is pretty light and its purpose really is only to fill in holes. Once you have applied the Bondo you sand it down to the level it was before the gouge. Only the gouge will be filled in ideally.
you can always go get your wheels balanced when done, still cheaper than buying new wheels or getting them fixed. if you believe it’s necessary that is.
Nice job, did well to scuff those wheels with those anti curb tyres.
This is a very interesting video but you need to be very careful around the edges. If you grind past the lowest point of the damage you are making it thinner and sharper. So if you hit a pot hole after the tire will go into the lip and get cut. You also end up changing the shape of the wheel. So you just need to be careful depending on the type of damage you have. It may be best to have them professionally finished depending on the severity.
which part "professionals" are doing different?
Lol
@@thomaswild2957 welding metal to the wheel then shaping that back to original.
Yeah with a professional price tag attached to the job. 😂 I’ll take my chances with how he did it. I was quoted almost $1000 for my 4 rims. When I can spend about $100 in materials and do it myself.
@@DIYwithBB Bruh, for a 1600 i can find new wheels and sell the olds for 400-500... lmao
Looks fantastic and what a fine job! The only thing is any paint cans supplied in the UK piss out of the can sideways and leave large paint drops on the surface. Yours looks great though!
This is a first-rate instructional video. Thank you very much for posting it.
I do have a QUESTTION about Clear Coat. Recently, I restored the wheels on my C5 Corvette using the process described in this video. For the most part, they look beautiful!
I used "Dupli-Color High Performance Wheel Coating, Gloss Black" for the Paint Coat. However, I did not apply the "Dupli-Color Wheel Gloss CLEAR COAT". By not applying the Clear Coat, will that create a problem in the future?
Thank you to anyone who feels compelled to answer my question (:
No one is interested.
Sorry no one provided feedback sooner. Clear coat is a protective layer for UV damage so black gloss may not last. Lightky scuff with 400-600 to remove gloss to matt finish then respray black gloss then clear with 2k from Eastwood and your set.
I like your tips and tricks, it gives more mr insight on what should I do for painting, sanding, and repairing curb rash :3
Holy smokes... I've learned everything about taking care of the aesthetic of my vehicle from you, and this is just gravy. So AMAZING. Is this a personal vehicle or a job for a client? If it's a client, about how much do you charge for this service on a wheel? Great work I'm so so so IMPRESSED, as usual 😎😎😎♥️🍺
Something like this can be charged around 75$/wheel.. even more if its powder coated
Thanks i just fd up my wheel👍👍
I paused half way. It's 5pm here in South Africa. I'm glad I paused. What a relaxing video AND STRESS RELIEVER AFTER A LONG DAY AT WORK. THANKS MR. JAMES....
Unfortunately I'm lazy AF. And won't be attempting this
P.S. lucky my car has wheel caps LOL.
That reminds me. I need to do an oil change .. the oil I've bought almost a month ago,, LMAO
Love your honesty. Arthritis sucks.
wow you clean and detail cars and fix damage to them as well, talent 😁
Lots of good info! I’m restoring some old Honda wheels that have curb rash and pitting from de-icer. I used a lot of these steps and products except I used glazing putty so I didn’t have to use hardener and I also had to let all the air out of tires so the index cards would slide and stay in place.
Those fudge cookies are amazing! I love them
Great job. It sure looks great.
I have polished aluminum wheels. Is there a way to do what you did without paint the wheels? I could buy new wheels but at $400 each it gets expensive.
yes you can!
only need to sand the surface and polish after
Wow Bravo maestro 👍, I have same problem, and I did not now hao to repaer, but this is very good tips, thank you, you are profi bravo👍
I didn’t even know you could fix that stuff on your own. Made a dumb mistake when I was younger (knew I’d nick the curb but for some unknown reason decided to keep going anyways.... not my brightest moment) and got a small area scratched up. Everything else is perfect, so it’s always bugged me, though not enough to pay someone to fix. Now I can do it myself!
Awesome instructional! Im about to fix up and repaint my rims.
Only thing is I would not mix the Bondo filler and hardener on a Porous surface because it gives and incorrect ratio. Use plastic, metal or glass.
Bro, I’m watching this video and I’m jamming your background music ..like yo NOT BAD LOL
Great video. Little tip. When mixing your epoxy, always a mixing board that doenst absorb the chemicals, plastic bag over the cardboard or a plastic cuttingboard.
Thanks for the info!
Oh, thts how.
Wonderful results.

I appreciated this video helped me out with my new car! Thanks much
WOW!! THANKS MEN!!! You are really good
Great job. That looks fantastic 👍🏿
Really a fan of your work!
Much appreciated!
Excelente trabajo!!! Después de todo eso no aparcas jamas cerca de la acera!!!
This will be my next project, awesome job there 👌🏼👌🏼
Fun fact: Don't forget to set your e-brake on and use some chock blocks or a regular old brick to prevent the vehicle from rolling forward or backwards on you. Trust me "you'll thank me later".
Cheers 🍻
looks really, good! Have a Porsche that has curb rash but since I haven't done it before I'm too nervous to try it
Wow wasn't going to but now I will do it myself. The video is of high quality, well done sir.
that was just amazing great job done pal
wow, that looked awesome!!
Thanks and still lasting till this day
It is me or this dude have a nice house and a Rover and don't have a impact gun to make it easy to take the tire off. . Amazing 😂🤔🔥
He has one. Idk why he didn’t use it lol
Not only that, but he can't afford to get the rim properly fixed ( the right way) get it welded and remachined. ""BONDO" ain't
going to last, and the first time you take that tire off, it's going to disintegrate.
@@rickspearman344 not trying to be critical, because he did a great job. But those were my exact thoughts….was questioning the durability
Really well structured video! Clear voice, instructions and screen annotations.
Liked and subbed, keep up the great work 👍🏼
That's true.
Just got a new used car last month and the rims are bad thank you for posting this
Hey I may of missed it I seen u primed it with what looks like Grey reg primer but how did u get that aluminum looking look again what paint and colors all did u do
Awesome vid bro!!..and blink 182 is the best alternative/punk rock band of all time !!!!!
WOW! Great job. Well done!
They look AMAZING!!! 👌👑🔥💎
Sooo much work! All day for 1 tire. They looked perfect at the end though!
I thought he said a couple hours...? Maybe he was just referring the sanding alone?!?! 😐😐😮
Very nice I gonna try this mythic out on my STANCE wheels.
There are some epoxy paint pens made for this that will match well. Clean rim, file and sand damaged area, clean again, apply, then sand area to blend and polish. If you need to repspray the whole rim you should use a 2K clear coat for better durability. A 12oz spray can is only $20. Also avoid using any reinforced fillers or epoxies with steel filings that could react with the aluminum alloy. They are hard to sand smooth and blend also. Just use a clear 2-part 5min epoxy.
What would you recommend for a minor rash? Like 2 - 5 % of the wheel
I have a soft99.
No.1 repair compojit in Japan.
I am amazed. Respect.
Excellent result
Excellent work
Job well done 👍🏻. I’m doing mine today 😅
Wow
Watching from uk 🇬🇧
Amazing, loved that video
Got some fudge cookies and blink 182 blaring in my garage and forgot what I was doing lol great video
Excellent work.
Good video and nice tastey work 👍
Yea I dreed doing this ... planning it soon got a Dremel 👍🏻wish me luck😅
Hi question fir you?
When doing refereb on wheels dose matter what whether condition to do the job?
& how long would it take say after a rainy day? Or cold day.?
What would you recommend is the best time to do them.? Thank you.
Love the video.
Great video! Is it better to take the rim off the tire so I don't scratch my tire with the drummel or sand paper?
Nice job 👍 very nice job 👍
great video. thank you
Exactly what I did with my wheels. I used my wife nail polisher machine.
Nice job!
nice job just a point toque your wheel studs to manufacture's spec
Damn that's a great job!!
Impressive. Very nice.
Thank you very much!
Fantastic dude
How long does it usually take for one rim?
How you figure out which silver colour you needed? Does it fit to the other wheels ?
That is the hard part because it will most likely not be a perfect match to original colors. Good news for me is I am planning to do all 4 wheels so a perfect match isn't crucial. If you are trying to do it and you only have 1-2 rims that need fixed, do 2 on the same side of the car so unless you remove all 4 and put side by side it will be really hard for anyone to notice a slight color difference.
@@StaufferGarage I'm on my second car as a new owner, and one of the wheel covers came off when I was driving on a dirt road. Looked up the cost of new wheel covers, $100 for 4... $15 for one from a pick-a-part is a grand deal! Almost no paint left on it so I just out the two worse covers on one side of the car and park so that side is normally hidden lmao
I kept scrolling in the comments for this. I have “one wheel” that had a bad accident scraping on my BMW and have been very reticent to try and fix it because of the matching issue, worried I would make it worse. Also never attempted this type of repair before. Question: how will it hold up when matched with tools to change a tire? What’s the chance of cracking and flying apart in the repair areas of the bondo ?
Nice. Awesome work
Thank you :)
You're welcome!
Man did the rang rover rims have a fight with the curbs lol.
Its called parking by sound
Man like manwell
So what happens to the "BONDO" when the tire gets removed? Or do you simply sell the car prior to the tires wearing out?
Nice video! i have 4 rims with as much curb rash as this.... maybe even more. I am usually a detail person when doing things, but probably don't have the time or patience to do the job as detailed as was done here. So I am thinking that maybe just doing a QUICK sanding and spraying clear coat would be a big improvement over how it looks now, and cut the time in half to complete. From what I am reading, the rims will probably only take a year or so before the curb rash destroys the bondo anyway. So what ya think? Has anyone tried the quick and halfass method for this?
SUPER!!!
When rattle channing your wheels it would be better to keep the can vertical than allowing the can to go hotizontal.
Try standing the tire on the tread or leaning the tire /wheel against something. Paint one top section at a time as you roll it forward.
Try utilizing one of those snap on handles on your can for improved control.
Thanks for the tips!
Thank you
Where can I get index cards ?
Awesome tutorial
Great video! Did I miss a video of you making over your garage??
Sweet garage it is. Wife just wants to park her car in ours again. lol
Thanks for the comprehensive video, I have been wanting to do this to my car but have been putting it off due to the amount of work involved. Oh btw I can't believe you didn't mask off the valve stem.
Great video brother putting in the elbow grease. I like the work, i use the 2k ckear with the button hardener on the can, its supposed to be about the same as the clear in the paint gun, seems to be the best but its like 30.00 dollars a can. Anyway take care brother just giving my input in the comments.
Where do you pick that up at? This video is pretty old and that process still holds up to this day but I know I could have done better
Amazon … singles, 4 pack and 6 pack. 6 pack is ~$110
Good job. I'm gonna try that.
Amazing work man! Only thing I would change about this video is use a torque wrench !!!!
This was amazing!!!
Nice work - I’d recommend getting a set of protective wheels sockets which you can attach to a 1/2 inch impact gun. Outside of the socket has a plastic cover so no chance of scratching lug nut area of wheel during removal.
100%, at the end I recommend using painters tape on the socket but I need to pick up a set of those asap
@@StaufferGarage Absolutely! The tape is a great idea for the freshly painted wheels. The protective sockets are great for general use when paint isn't used. Keep up the great work and great videos!
What do you do if you fixed road rash on one wheel and need to match it to the other three?
Saludos Men desde la ciudad de Mexico 🇲🇽😎🌎👍🏽🇲🇽
Amazing work!
