    Thanks, Morozov Automotive, for uploading this. It helped me tremendously changing the oil on a Honda Civic 2009.
    Tips for people who are looking to change their oil:
    1. oil plug will be either 16 or 17mm or 11/16.
    2. If a business changed the oil last it will be really hard to get the drain plug out without the car lifted because they use drill guns. I fought with my oil plug too long before taking it to grease n go to loosen the plug.
    3. Have a Oil Filter Wrench. The oil filter is in a tough position to get a good grip by hand. Now this is the same as #2. If it was hand tightened last it should be easy to get off but if some business did it last be prepared.
    Those were the few problems I ran into.

    Crawling under a vehicle is strictly for trucks and SUVs. Jack the car up a few inches and use a jack stand. Remember to use handbrake or put chock behind car. Also 9 out of 10 times you will not remove a filter with your bare hands. Get an oil filter wrench otherwise you may be changing oil and not filter (which is ok too once in a while).

    You didn't prime the filter first. Should always add oil to a filter that "screws up" to ensure oil flow to the engine during initial start up.

    • @howado
      @howado 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nonsense. You should inform yourself this isn’t the only way air filter is attached. Some cars have it horizontal or even straight bottom up which means your prefilled oil would end up everywhere but where you claim it should be, when re-inserting.
      Don’t think engineers designed all the other cars to get engine damaged with each oil and oil filter change cause of “improper” oil flow at initial start up.

      Not really though...unnecessary. I mean, if you feel like doing that, that's great. Maybe in a system where 100% of the oil is channeled through the filter prior to everywhere else..this would be an issue...but oil is typically not distributed that way. A smaller percentage ends up being cycled through the filter, in terms of complete distribution. Over time, all of the oil will eventually have cycled through the filter, yet it has cycled thorugh the engine many times over. Simply filling the oil puts more than enough oil where it needs to be for start up. The sump will have plenty of oil to draw when its properly filled, and it will be pumped to all of the intended areas in the same amount of time. Your filter will also have oil in it too, without priming. If you don't believe me, just fill your oil during your next oil change with the drain plug installed but don't install the filter until after the fill. Hint: you might want to leave that drain pain underneath...or have fun cleaning up, lol!!

      I own this car and never change the washer, never leaks, I change oil every 6 months. No need to change this to be honest, just dont use too much force and it will last.

    • @miked104
      @miked104 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not changing the washer could affect the seal. Pretty much the bolt and engine oil pan that the bolt screws into may not be a perfect seal, so the washer goes in the middle and when under pressure, it conforms to the bolt head and the oil pan. Usually the washer get crushed in between, so its a greater chance that it will not seal as well after it gets deformed. But if you tighten it well, it should be fine. I have resued a washer before but i usually replace everytime.

      You can try using Bolt And Nut Removal Set. Smth similar to what I have used in this video to remove the lug nuts - th-cam.com/video/lR4_7thPHX0/w-d-xo.html. But you will need the replacement bolt after you remove it.
