    I know you probably don't mean it in No Harm but to be honest with you the stuff you laugh at is not funny could cause serious accidents which it will not be funny when it happens. don't pass this laughter onto your students as they will fail due to the fact people making mistakes on the road humours you. 😒😒😒 wake up mate

      If you can see what it is, you're going slow enough to identify it and know it can't damage your car (For example this appears to be some black tarp or plastic sheeting) then it doesn't matter, does it?

    Videos like this are honestly great. I appreciate that none of the videos show big crashes.
    I got very panicked when practice driving at home, and suffered a traumatic car crash last year which enhanced my anxiety for driving.
    Hearing you being calm and patient is very relieving, and the fact you understand your learner's anxieties and potential to panic in different situations doesn't make me feel so alone in my fear of driving, and the way you reassure their good driving is very easing.
    Thank you very much!!

      It's easy to pass judgement when you aren't a biker, there's plenty of switched-on blokes who have CBTs, not just chavs on mopeds (squids).
      The L plates are almost meaningless on a motorcycle, I've had L plates for almost a year now and have to put up with the same crap that you do in a learner car on a daily basis even though I drive nothing like a learner.

    I was on the highway about 2 years ago and this guy kept hogging the overtaking lane, I was behind him for minutes, the highway was 2 lanes. I ended up undertaking him and looking behind me, people started doing that in a line. At least 10 cars followed me.

    Ive been driving for 8 years now, Ive not seen anywhere close to number of people running lights as you come across. I live south London so perhaps its just the area.
    I cycle to work these days and since I have been doing so I am far more vigilant on the roads when riding and when driving. You have to expect cars to do the unexpected when cycling on the roads, Ive learnt the hard way by people opening car doors on me a few times now. Perhaps its a good suggestion for learner drivers, to cycle on the road too?

    2:58 The initial move to undertake after those lines started was legal but didn't seem to be very cautious in making that manoeuvre, Would that be correct?
    This initial part of the clip was what I was querying about in the undertaking driving tip video, just thought this was interesting showing up in a video after the query.
    Obviously this is one of those drivers you need to be cautious about when in such an area.
    I noticed you moved over when seeing the signs before the lines so this offers a visual representation of everything covered in those comments.

    At 3:39 pedestrian crossing should you wait for a pedestrian to cross completely. Ie be off the road. 195 The Highway code says you MUST give way. Which you did technically, no problem with that but i kind of had it in my mind that it would be a bit more polished to wait for them to finish.

    Why do I even watch this channel? I drive in New Delhi. For me these are minor errors. I could only wish for such traffic maybe that's why. I started following the rules by the book initially. The reckless ones can sense those driving safely. When they sense that someone is calm , they will proceed to harass you ( tailgate, cut or dangerous overtake) because they know you are sensible and will be the bigger man.

    2:00 Undertaking is valid when an idiot sits in the outside lane going slower than the posted limit. Where I am we have a brigade of outside lane crawlers due to a right turn 2 miles away at the end of the road and sorry I will not sit behind a car at 45mph in the outside lane when the speed limit is 60mph.

Ambulance drivers are not professional drivers. Only holders of PCV and LGV class 1 and 2 are classified as professional drivers as there are the only licences that are classed as vocational and come under the jurisdiction of the the Traffic Commisioners.

    • @Haybalemelonhead
      @Haybalemelonhead 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you fall on the road, the tarmac is very hard and even going at 30 Mph can still cause a lot of damage, unlike cars they don’t have a protective shell so if they fall on the road then there body goes on the roads, that’s why we have to have helmets, gloves, jacket and sometimes trousers and boots. Moped drivers are vulnerable road users.

    • @failtolawl
      @failtolawl 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a ridiculous misconception. The less you are focused outside your car, the worse off you are. It's like saying that a GPS makes you drive better because you are 'more involved with driving', when all it's doing is making you pay attention to something other than outside your car. There is a reason manuals are going away.

    You catch a lot of bad driving and what that ambulance did was just disgraceful. The police welcome footage like this, if I were you I'd hand it into them. It would give all these drivers a shock when the police come knocking and they are confronted with your video evidence.

    • @MrAzzy1985
      @MrAzzy1985 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FYI - it is not a requirement in law for emergency vehicles to display blue lights when claiming exemptions. This is more relevant to police vehicles, where there is often a requirement to avoid alerting subjects to their presence (eg. to position for a tactical containment before a pursuit even commences, en route to a burglary in progress or to catch up with a vehicle before that vehicle is aware of the police presence). Whilst I cannot say what has happened here, it is possible the ambulance is either on a "smooth run" where they avoid stopping due to someone in the back with a neck/spine injury or they have just got a shout and have taken the safe opportunity to progress before removing their hands from the wheel to activate the emergency warning equipment. The ultimate issue here is that no one was required to change speed or direction for the ambulance crossing the stop line, so there is no offence if they were engaged in any function related to their medical duties. And before anyone jumps on me, I am not saying what should or should not be, I am simply explaining the law as it stands. If there was no medical reason to run the light, they are just as guilty as anyone else.

    • @derekdelboytrotter8881
      @derekdelboytrotter8881 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrAzzy1985 I understand what you're saying but about 8 months ago I broke my arm and dislocated my elbow at work, my boss took me to the minor injury unit and after x-rays they called an ambulance to take me to hospital. I asked the paramedics if they'd put the blue lights on and they said because my injury wasn't life threating they're not allowed to so going by what he told me I'd have thought if they had a patient on board without life threating injuries they'd have to stop at a red light.

    • @MrAzzy1985
      @MrAzzy1985 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Derek Delboy Trotter I'm sorry, that may be specific trust policy but it is not the law. The law states simply that if the ambulance purpose would be "hindered" by obeying the red light, then the driver may ignore it provided they do not cause another vehicle to change course or speed. The legislative source is the "Traffic sign regulations and general directions 1994" which state "‘When a vehicle is being used for fire brigade, ambulance, bomb or
      explosive disposal, national blood service or police purposes and the
      observance of the prohibition would be likely to hinder the use of that
      vehicle for the purpose for which it is being used, the requirement
      instead shall be that the vehicle shall not proceed in a manner or at a
      time likely to endanger any person, and in the case of a red light to
      cause the driver of any vehicle proceeding in accordance with the
      signals at the junction to change its speed or course in order to avoid an
      accident." This is often summarised for training purposes as "emergency vehicles treat red lights as give way signs if there is a (police/fire/ambulance/etc.) Purpose for doing so.

      @@MrAzzy1985 the wording of that makes no sense and is contradictory. The ambulance can proceed through a red if it needs but all of the people at the green in the perpendicular direction shouldn't have to stop for it? Almost everyone changes course when they see an ambulance, and that includes not proceeding at your green if necessary. The ambulance can't really make progress without people changing their course so that's a bit silly.

      @@SPTSuperSprinter156 the wording is a copy/paste of www.legislation.gov.uk, which is the government's publicly available legislation archive. It is a difficult concept to get your head around, but you have to think about what the law is actually exempting the driver from- ie. Having to stop behind the line on red. It's not the presence of the emergency vehicle that must not cause another vehicle to change course, but rather that the emergency vehicle crossing the stop line against the red must not cause such. So an ambulance that approaches the stop line slowly, waits for other vehicles to stop, and then claims the exemption by crossing the line on red has not caused other vehicles to change course/speed by crossing the line, because the vehicles were already stopped when the exemption was used. This is why emergency vehicles will often slow almost to a stop at red lights even if you csnt see why- it is to be certain they have been seen by all other approaching traffic and all those vehicles have reacted before they enter the junction.
