    I'm not sure why you're complaining at 2:18 . The driver of the other vehicle was on that side because of parked cars, you are supposed to look where you are going and give way to the road you are joining. Perhaps spend less time criticizing others' driving and examine your own first.

      Mark McMarkface Haha. Those cars are queuing not parked. Nice comment. Perhaps spend less time criticising others’ driving and use your eyes first. Thanks for giving my a laugh this morning.

      Ashley Neal Irrelevant, as a driving instructor you should know that you shouldn't assume your side of the road is clear. Would you have complained if it had been an emergency vehicle? Your holier than thou approach, especially regarding pedestrians is not a great example to your pupils. Back when I was an ADI I had it ingrained in me that walking was a right and driving a privilege. I recommend vitamin B12 to help you calm down a bit.

    • @ashley_neal

      Pedestrians? Where? When you were an ADI did you often misinterpret queue's as being parked? I'm still laughing

      @ihave35cents someone has to stop real criminals, we need some police, unless you are offering to fight crime.

      @ihave35cents maybe that might be due to police presence. Hate the police as much as you want, your allowed to do it is your opinion but they still have some uses we need and secondly there are area's with to few police.
      don't get me wrong traffic cops are annoying to me to, but i have also seen them stop some real idiot drivers as well.

    We did some country driving yesterday in the wet.. I was doing an admirable 45mph on a nat speed limit road, A loonatic in a golf decided he wanted to do about 70 and overtook me baring in mind there was a sharp chicane shortly ahead. I have had BMWs beeping at me for no reason, Audis pulling out at last second infront of me, overtook on a 20mph road .. It's just unbelievable.

    11:00 Seen this scenario a million times, where people turn at a junction and mistakenly think the red light applies to them.
    I think too many sets of lights at one junction can add confusion, rather than take it away.

    6:46 I'm wondering whether the black car was trying to escape blame for an accident as it's odd for the van to follow.

  • @Met182
    @Met182 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Look at the cars turning right at 3:00 - the lights had been on red for 6 seconds and they still move forward and turn.
    Have you noticed that red light jumping is more common now than in previous years? If there isn't a camera on the lights then people just don't care.

    • @Bin216
      @Bin216 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Met182 Who is going to stop them? The police don’t have the resources to catch minor infractions like jumping red lights. Eventually they will hit something, hopefully just another vehicle, and not a pedestrian or cyclist.

    • @Met182
      @Met182 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bryn Jones cameras on red lights would stop them and generate money from fines. Hitting another car isn't a "hopefully" type situation to me.

    can’t stand people who take a left turn from the right lane. about a year after i’d passed my test, i was on a 4 lane roundabout and i was going to one of the further exits, so i was in lane 3. the clever guy on the inside lane decided to pull a sharp left turn, take the first exit and crashed into me. drove off of course. very scary as a fairly unexperienced driver aged 18 on my own, on a road i’d never been on. if you’re in the wrong lane, go round the roundabout and then take your exit!

    british roads seem so chaotic..... although it may be a product of a heavily populated city but in america i hardly ever see cars parked on the road, and when they do, the road is big enough for them to fit... and that one-way you mentioned honestly looked like it was a two-way because the way the curb connected to the left side of the road. ... driving in usa vs driving in uk is clearly 2 different dimensions

    • @projectxgaming
      @projectxgaming 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      if u are talking about USA, USA is built for cars and have more parking places than in Europe. Yes, there might be some places in EU where there might be more parking, but still. In my country isn't built for millions of cars every day in the city where i live and the parking is awful here.

      Lee Yates he did not 'have priority' he presumed his way was going to be clear when it wasn't. Would he have passed his test driving like that?

    • @DasArab
      @DasArab 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He's on the wrong side of the road. The risk is unacceptable. If he had done that on a driving test the likely good of him carrying on any further is Zero and he would have failed there and then. But I'll now stand by for the "who drives like they did during their driving test" comment to again prove all that is wrong out there on the roads these days.

    • @DasArab
      @DasArab 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes its just my opinion. However here is a fact. My Step daughter failed her driving test 4 weeks ago for checking her mirror prior to the required emergency stop. I cant imagine that being impatient and passing a line of Patient drivers, on the wrong side of the road would have also brought anything other than an instant fail too. I can not imagine that Ashley Neal would ever instruct or expect a Learner driver to carry out such a flippant and risky manoeuvre as the van driver did. Also if you look at the road the van driver comes from its on a slight left hand bend, there is no way he can be sure that anything is likely to appear coming in the opposite direction(ignoring the junction he intends to turn right into). Hes just another Impatient road user. As are 99% of the clips that appear in all these videos on you tube.

      @Lee Yates
      No he didn't . I thought it was a line of parked cars at first too but it's not it is moving (hah) traffic . So he is overtaking NOT passing parked cars, overtaking on a blind corner NAH!.
      Have seen (mostly Russian ) TH-cam videos of people sticking there nose right up to a car in the wrong lane like that, then when the car in the wrong lane reverses a bit to pull over. the original car pulls forward again, in the end they have to reverse all the way back to the start of the traffic, teaching them not to try and beat traffic by driving on the wrong side of the road.

    The scariest thing about all the red light jumpers is that if a blind person was using the spinning nodule to know when to cross they would never know they were in danger from a RLJ, or how young people now use the nodule to know when to cross whilst they're busy on their phones, they wouldn't necessarily look up to see the RLJ before crossing.

    A question I have is when a bus is parked in a bus stop, then readies himself to pull out, some bus drivers just simply pull out forcing us to stop, others wait for it to be clear or to be let out. Does the bus have right of way to pull out or does the bus have to wait until it is safe to do so? (I'm pretty sure what the answer is but so many bus drivers just pull out regardless..). Also if a collision occurs, who is potentially at fault?

  • @scottlaaa
    @scottlaaa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    the bus which hit the railings are really poorly designed, the front wheels are way to close to the front of the bus making the turning circle a lot larger than any other bus. every one of those i've seen are full of dents. 😂😂😂

    • @sernikpl2010
      @sernikpl2010 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i didn't know that but heard they are a nightmare, hitting kerbs on turns a ton as well

    • @scottlaaa
      @scottlaaa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Grzegorz Goral if you look at most buses the front wheels are behind the driver which makes it easier to turn. plus with the front hang of the bus you can actually turn over the pavement without actually driving on it. it comes in handy for making sharp right turns from junctions unless there's a set of railings in the way lol

    • @keith6400
      @keith6400 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The further back the front wheels are the worse the front overhang is on a swing round, which is opposite to what you are saying. With wheels further back the front of the bus can pass over pavements where no railings obstruct this however you can hit pedestrians who are walking on the pavement without actually mounting it. Bus drivers should know these issues with their vehicle.

    I’m not sure I agree with you about the ambulance. Ok he could have waited but he has come through a pinch point where the kerb protrudes equally from both sides, hence no priority. They are not yet at the parked vehicles blocking their side of the road. It looks to me that you have stopped your pupil almost opposite those vehicles thus making the road narrower for them. Don’t you think stopping nearer to the pinch point would have been better? Or even get your pupil to adjust their speed to thread through the pinch point after the ambulance rather than stop? As I said at the beginning, with a little more forward planning the ambulance could have stopped at the pinch point as there were vehicles parked after it but was there first and had every right to go through first and pull up after to allow your pupil through second.

    • @ashley_neal
      @ashley_neal  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nothing to do with the pinch point. Simply meeting traffic the parked cars on the opposite side.

  • @beckyorme1979
    @beckyorme1979 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    7:38 you can see as there is only one paramedic driving, the other must be in the back of the ambulance with a patient. Granted there are no blue lights on, but someone could still be seriously unwell. This isn't an impatient or ignorant range rover pushing their way through, it's a paramedic with a job to do. You should be teaching learners to move and stop for an ambulance. Just because there are no blue lights doesn't mean they're not working... As for the other drivers, carry on naming and shaming the idiots, they make a paramedics job even harder.

    • @ashley_neal
      @ashley_neal  6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      If you're saying they could be on a job, that's even more unprofessional to drive without "Blues" Are other drivers supposed to read minds? Do you think paramedics are beyond reproach? My learners are taught correctly th-cam.com/video/jsF4e0b5c0I/w-d-xo.html. They are dealing with people's lives so their standards should be top notch. They weren't, simple as that.

    • @beckyorme1979
      @beckyorme1979 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately not every job warrants lights and sirens, it'd be far easier if we could use them for every job, yes. As your learner said 'she wasn't in a rush was she?' - paramedics are always in a rush, even on breaks. It's not about reading minds we are taught from a young age the importance of emergency services on the road, there will never be a time you will see an ambulance just cruising around. As you said, paramedics are dealing with people's lives, granted most other drivers on the road are on their way somewhere important but just a friendly reminder - for the sake of you being 10 seconds late to wherever you need to be, you could assist someone in need of hospital treatment to get there faster.

    • @ashley_neal
      @ashley_neal  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you want priority over others you need lights or sirens. This Ambulance had neither and had your poor attitude that you think you can do what you like. You can't. Terribly unprofessional!!

    • @beckyorme1979
      @beckyorme1979 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think I'm the one with the bad attitude or the unprofessional one here ha. I commented to inform people, as I said a 'friendly reminder'... It's common sense to move for lights and sirens however, most people don't realise if there is only one paramedic in the front then there will most likely be a patient on board. Your giving a driving lesson, they are taking someone to hospital, who should have priority in that setting? You seem to have some anger issues. I'm glad the person who taught me to drive was calm and collected, that's all I'm saying.

    The person who ran the red light in last video likely got a ticket since I’m sure there’s a traffic camera on the lamppost in the right lane. I know this since I’m sure 1 got me, but it was a case of bad timing from me since I was checking my speedometer for longer than needed to and missed the change from green to red. Mind you was only 1.3 seconds after it changed to red, lesson learned not to check speed for too long, it wasn’t that I was actually speeding I was well under the speed limit and was speeding up slightly.

    Regarding the ambulance driver, there was an obstruction on both sides. Furthermore, they got there first. You would have been in the wrong here.

    • @boring7823
      @boring7823 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a fish-eye camera. The learner stopped level with the parked car closest to the bollards and the ambulance doesn't really have space to go between the bollards and swerve into the gap between them and the that parked car. Unless they go right up to the car (ie touch it) their back end would still be blocking the bollards. Simply, the cars parked close enough to the bollards that the ambulance should have treated them as the same obstruction.

      @@boring7823 Exactly. It’s not necessarily a “who has priority” issue there anyway, more of a practical one. If the ambulance had looked ahead a bit and let the learner go first both would have had a better time negotiating the road.

    Is this in England? It's so weird seeing roads like this, I would be so confusing as I've been living in The Netherlands, the roads here are so different, how funny!

    I see the roads up north are in just as bad a condition as the roads here in Suffolk. As much tax as UK residents pay, you'd think they could maintain the roads in better than third-world conditions.

      KezzahBaby you know your going to have to go on dual carriages, motorways and huge roundabouts eventually?
      Its the double roundabouts and the triple ones that are scary. No pressure though

    Where are the police in your nation?! In USA or even here in Canada cops would be on your bumper in seconds after half the stuff these people do.

    And when you do driving by book and you do your best in the driving test and you are so nervous the examiner fails you!! How those drivers took their licence and we can't pass a test while we do it by the book.We learners are more curfull then experience drivers which they are not drivers the are a joke

    7.45. The car had stopped before the ambulance driver even had chance to pull in, obviously he had time to go over the speed bump, by the time he would have needed to stop you had already stopped and so he thanked you. He did nothing wrong.

    The police aught to have someone employed to watch your videos all day for possible prosecutions. They could then give you commission on convictions, say 10%?
