FILM DESCRIPTION:
Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people -- and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm's half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.

The dive through the Trench is the best looking scene in the history of the DCEU. Well done James Wan.
I wouldn’t say best. DC has tons of beautiful shots. If there’s one thing they’ve done right since the beginning it’s their movie scores and visuals.

Despite everyone considering Josstice League being non-canon, Cyborg refers to Aquaman as “Little Merman”. I think at some point in the DCEU, ‘The Little Mermaid’ was still made in 1989 and in my headcanon, Ron Clements and John Musker had a meeting with Disney about having the Trench in the movie but it was rejected because it was considered too dark for kids. It could be possible. I mean, ‘Black Panther’ and ‘The Lion King’ do co-exist in the MCU.

This. Is. EASILY. The best scene in the film. There are no lights in Hell, and this scene gets that feeling across so well that it legitimately gives me chills every time I watch it.
James Wan just wants to put a horror scene in this movie
I don't like the idea of a Trench movie because the best thing about this scene and the Trench in general is the mystery, surprise, and terror of them. Made it very intense and entertaining to watch. Not every monster in a movie needs overexposure.

The Trench-Horror
DC can have films that are PG Rated as well as films that are R rated..they have a lot of lesser known characters they can use such as Swamp Thing, Constantine, Zatanna, etc.
And remember, most of the MCU superheroes were relatively unknown compared to Batman and Superman, but Marvel made them household names. DC can do the same with their own heroes.
That's why I'm on DC's side. They have potential of creating their worlds based on their superheroes in a way that Marvel could not create.

Probably thousands if not millions of Trench, i think the only reason why they have attacked the surface world of humans is because the other Atlantean Kingdoms are constantly keeping an eye on them and Atlan's Trident which I theorize is keeping a leash on them.
The Trench used to be human-like Atlanteans but when they settled in the Mariannas Trench, they devolved into those cannibalistic light-fearing monsters.

Anyway, in case it's indeed the Mariana Trench, that's insane, almost 11 kilometers below surface, being down there is like being crushed by several planes according to documentaries.

Kobe’s Kreations They’re definitely not nocturnal in the comics. They attacked in morning day light in Aquaman volume 1 and the only reason they didn’t hunt people sooner was because they were running low on food in their habitat.

In the comics, it was said that the Trench multiply by the millions each day. They usually stay on the Marianas Trench, but some of them sometimes slip out and prey on remote coastal villages.
After becoming king, Arthur Curry (Aquaman) assigned border patrols to cull their numbers. These aquatic buggers even had a queen that was 3 times the size of the Karathen (the monster Aquaman faced in the Trident's resting place).
