Like I said though its unclear if he is lying about Barry. It's possible Tony might not know the full truth too, as he was young himself when Dickie died and wasnt made yet
I don't know. Chris wanted to make his way up the ranks. He was more than willing to do any job for Tony. Lying about something like that when he doesn't need to to manipulate Chris seems unnecessary and just opens up the possibility of too many complications. We never saw Tony make shit up completely to get the job done (Other than the lies he told Carmella) but not on the business level. I think one of Tony's greatest displays of sociopathy was starting the process of "bonding Christopher to him irrevocably" so he could start giving orders through him and take some of the heat off of himself.
But in a way, that's the same thing Dickie Moltisanti did. If he really was this mentor-figure to Tony in his early days, it's safe to say Tony did a lot of dirty shit with his supervision. This was a well done video. I've seen sopranos many times over beginning to end, but it was nice to see all of this info put together thanks for your time.
I’m starting to watch this channel from the beginning today and I always thought the title “Many Saints of Newark” was a play on words for Livia’s saying “He was a saint” which I’m sure every widower would have said about their husbands once they passed due to natural cause or natural causes relative to Newark but now that you said Moltisanti means many saints now I see where they got the title from. The same Tony who lies indiscrimenately left and right based on what's good for his selfish interests. Earlier that season/episode Tony was at Melfi's speaking on how now he tries to create stronger bond with Chris, later on Tony shows Chris that retired cop. My point is that the only reference point from Sopranos is a character who has good track record of lying and manipulating everyone, so why not Chris from early on ? I would be surprised if it wasn't either Tony or his dad who whacked Dicke for some reason and since they were close, took Christopher under his wings out of guilt and long term good possibility of a successor without ever risking his future son. But I admit the last part is more of an imagination than what is likely to happen.
It wouldn't surprise me if the cop Christopher killed was getting Dickie to flip on Tony's dad (Christopher said his father Dickie was an addict so maybe he was being brought up on drug charges like Big Puss) and Tony whacked Dickie.
I'm sure it was Johnny Boy, not Tony. Tony would be too young to be given that responsibility at the time. Tony might not even know it was his dad and was told that the cop did it, so he might even believe the lie himself.
@@TheSuperhomosapien I wouldn't think it would be a job given to Tony. More like Tony taking it upon himself. It's like how A.J. went to kill Junior. Except A.J. never had the makings of a made guy.
I wonder how much of what Tony told Christuffa about his father actually was true. I never noticed before, but when Tony talks about Dickie hunting down that New England crew , he says "You ask anybody". Witch is exactly what he says to Jackie Jr about uncle Richie being a rat.
I think it’s already been confirmed it takes place over a time span from the 60s to the 70s. I remember seeing pictures of a Tony Soprano child actor on set.
Man idk about anyone else but, I feel so bad that no one in the sorprano world will ever find out that Junior is the one that put that hit out on dickie
I'm looking forward to this but what I would be most interested in seeing is Jackie Aprile as a young man in his rise to power. Phil's earlier days would be interesting as well.
This is exactly right. They usually start off as associates, who aren’t made and who may never be, until they prove themselves. You can’t become a soldier unless you’re made and unless you’re of Italian decent, you’ll never achieve a rank higher than an associate.
Hm, notice the cat on the fridge 0:38 looks like a clue to me, somehow referencing something, remember how Paulie was freaking out about the cat staring Chris later.
Even if he was well respected, they just had to roll with it. It's an old rule that there's not allowed to be hits on cops or public officials. Of course that rule has been broken over the years, but it was cool that the writers included that rule. I believe Dickie was well respected because it was never forgotten about over the course of many years. Upon retirement, the guy was fair game, and they wasted no time in hitting him as soon as they possibly could.
@@melmc9672 Ralphie grew up in Jersey alongside Tony Soprano, Silvio Dante, and Jackie Aprile Sr. He didn't move up in the ranks of the family nearly as fast as his peers; he credits this to not going along with the robbing of Feech La Manna's card game, which led to Tony, Silvio, and Jackie, Sr. getting made and respected.
One of Johnny Sach's final scenes was talking about Carmine. He was saying Carmine Said someone "Could go" because he was of no use anymore. I always thought he was referring to the cop that killed Dicky when he was retiring.
What’s going to kill it is the movie length. I’ll be honest, sequel or prequel, I was not that excited, but the story of Dickie is actually one that’s worth exploring. I don’t think justice can be done to it in feature length format. David Chase never had the makings of a filmmaker.
Love Christopher. He my favorite character in the series just an amazing story he has. Cant wait for many saints. I'm sure it will be good. Blg love from Milwaukee buddy
I don't know if the character was supposed to be a decade younger than the actor who played him, but Michael Imperioli was a baby in the mid '60s, not the mid '70s.
I remember the last season. I was deployed in Iraq. It was a tough deployment & was always on missions, guard duty or tower duty, or on QRF (quick reaction force). So had no downtime. But my mom recorded episodes to DVR & put them on dvds. I’d get 1 dvd with 3ep each, every 6-8 weeks. Portable DVD player up in the tower, on guard. Fuckin loved it! Grunt life!
The wife of Joann Blundetto. You weren't kidding when you said the writers have lots of room for story development. Already they're starting us off with a shocking gender reveal.
There's also that part in Remember When, when Paulie says "You made your bones with that prick, eh?" (referring to Willie Overall) and Tony hesitates for a moment before saying "Yeah." Throughout the series, Tony acts more as a father to Chris than anyone else, and his constant tolerance for Christopher's screw-ups to me, suggest there's feelings of guilt. Tony isn't very forgiving with most people, but for Chris he is. Plus, back to the way Tony corrected him about the crib vs TV trays. Why would it have mattered? Well, dropping a guy carrying a crib for his kid would never look good. If the cop had done it, Tony wouldn't have cared what the story was. Then think about the car seat in the fateful Kennedy and Heidi episode... Calling it now, Tony was at least present when Dickie got clipped, if not the shooter, and I'll go further and bet there will be a crib on the ground next to Dickie when they show his body.
Johnny Boy ordered the hit on Dickie. Nobody except for Tony spoke highly of him on the show. And Ray Liotta telling him to stay out of his life in the trailer was a clear warning.

It wouldn't surprise me if the cop Christopher killed was getting Dickie to flip on Tony's dad (Christopher said his father Dickie was an addict so maybe he was being brought up on drug charges like Big Puss) and Tony whacked Dickie.
Tony killed the father and the son
Or Johnny Boy
I'm sure it was Johnny Boy, not Tony. Tony would be too young to be given that responsibility at the time. Tony might not even know it was his dad and was told that the cop did it, so he might even believe the lie himself.
Or maybe Johnny or Junior
@@TheSuperhomosapien I wouldn't think it would be a job given to Tony. More like Tony taking it upon himself. It's like how A.J. went to kill Junior. Except A.J. never had the makings of a made guy.
Great overview. Really looking forward to the movie.
I wonder how much of what Tony told Christuffa about his father actually was true. I never noticed before, but when Tony talks about Dickie hunting down that New England crew , he says "You ask anybody". Witch is exactly what he says to Jackie Jr about uncle Richie being a rat.
Excellent analysis. Sited references from the show and everything. Amazing.
Glad you enjoyed it! More Sopranos analysis coming soon!
@@PureKino cant wait!
One thing we forgot: “Neil Young made that speech on the moon.”
7:45 pretty spot on
Want you to know I think this video was great. Looking forward to your next vid, and to Saints of Newark.
Thank you! More Soprano content is coming to my channel soon!
Thanks.. sopranos is my favorite show.. still to this day I watch the whole series 3 times a year
That's a lot of sopranos
@@jayybren I learn something new every time
I think it’s already been confirmed it takes place over a time span from the 60s to the 70s. I remember seeing pictures of a Tony Soprano child actor on set.
Man idk about anyone else but, I feel so bad that no one in the sorprano world will ever find out that Junior is the one that put that hit out on dickie
Shit it's only a few months away, why no trailer
Chase is good at keepin secrets
Seriously. We're now exactly 2 months away and no trailer

I'm looking forward to this but what I would be most interested in seeing is Jackie Aprile as a young man in his rise to power. Phil's earlier days would be interesting as well.
Really enjoyed your video. Can’t wait for it in theatre.
You can't be a soldier unless you're made, you can only be an associate.
This is exactly right. They usually start off as associates, who aren’t made and who may never be, until they prove themselves.
You can’t become a soldier unless you’re made and unless you’re of Italian decent, you’ll never achieve a rank higher than an associate.
If anyone's wondering... The release date got pushed back to September 24th...
They delayed it to September, I was so excited for it!!
This irked me at first but fuck it. Just that much more time to make the next classic mob movie
Hm, notice the cat on the fridge 0:38 looks like a clue to me, somehow referencing something, remember how Paulie was freaking out about the cat staring Chris later.
Can't wait for "Saints" and you know the soundtrack's gonna be bananas
Thank you for this. I worship you.
That was really interesting... Thanks man.
I hope a young Ralphie Cifaretto will be in this. Quoting Ben-Hur or Spartacus or something. Reclaiming Rome for his people.
With or without his wig? LOL
He cant be quoting Spartacus, need I remind you they didn't have flat tops in ancient Rome?!
Ralph wont be in the movie- he no history with Tony as a young man
@@melmc9672 Ralphie grew up in Jersey alongside Tony Soprano, Silvio Dante, and Jackie Aprile Sr. He didn't move up in the ranks of the family nearly as fast as his peers; he credits this to not going along with the robbing of Feech La Manna's card game, which led to Tony, Silvio, and Jackie, Sr. getting made and respected.
Congrats on 10k subscribers 💪
Thank you! It's amazing so many people are enjoying the videos!
Excited to see this! Hopefully in the theater with a popcorn and Coke.

And gabagool!!!
Exactly how I watched it 🤣
Oh maron!
The last line 😅
Love Christopher. He my favorite character in the series just an amazing story he has. Cant wait for many saints. I'm sure it will be good. Blg love from Milwaukee buddy
Can't wait for this movie
Wow remember when we had high hopes for the film?
I don't know if the character was supposed to be a decade younger than the actor who played him, but Michael Imperioli was a baby in the mid '60s, not the mid '70s.
Christopher looks like a young 20 something in the pilot. I'd bet he is supposed to be younger than the actual actor
Thanks for the summary
I remember the last season. I was deployed in Iraq. It was a tough deployment & was always on missions, guard duty or tower duty, or on QRF (quick reaction force). So had no downtime. But my mom recorded episodes to DVR & put them on dvds. I’d get 1 dvd with 3ep each, every 6-8 weeks. Portable DVD player up in the tower, on guard. Fuckin loved it! Grunt life!
Thank you for your service!
That was awesome of your mom! I'm glad the show helped you during your service!
That’s a dope ass story not gonna lie
You got the makings of a varsity athlete
I watched the season finale with my mom the weekend before I deployed the 2nd time. I ruined the ending for EVERYONE 🤣🤣🤣
very well done thank you for sharing!
The wife of Joann Blundetto. You weren't kidding when you said the writers have lots of room for story development. Already they're starting us off with a shocking gender reveal.
Great job with this vide!
There's also that part in Remember When, when Paulie says "You made your bones with that prick, eh?" (referring to Willie Overall) and Tony hesitates for a moment before saying "Yeah."
Throughout the series, Tony acts more as a father to Chris than anyone else, and his constant tolerance for Christopher's screw-ups to me, suggest there's feelings of guilt.
That's a good point!
You can tell there’s a completely different story to what tony told chris. I look forward to finding out when the movie gets released
Okay this is all very possible, but the reason Tony hesitated was because Paulie brought it up in front of outsiders and was blabbing way too much.
You might be selling it brother. Ok, it is possible.
It was tv trays and bottle of liquor
Nice intro bro. Can't wait to see this...if it ever comes out..
Johnny Boy ordered the hit on Dickie. Nobody except for Tony spoke highly of him on the show. And Ray Liotta telling him to stay out of his life in the trailer was a clear warning.
Who is Liotta playing? Dimaio?
@@expensive-brother Aldo Multisante, Dickie’s dad

I want to see Richie Aprile. And, you know, ....the Jacket!!
Fuck that. I want to see Rocco DeMeo prancing around town wearing the jacket until Richie chases him out of Essex County.
Prick had a reputation as being the toughest guy in Essex county but he wasn’t so tough when I got through with him
And Feech in his prime
He said "Richard Moltisanti nicknamed Dickie was the *wife* of Joanne Blondetto and father to Christopher". LMAO
Now we know who wore the pants at home
