Saaame. That's how you know he's not really sad. He's glad he got to feel love again... he hadn't loved anyone since his mother died... everybody saying it's a sad song just lacks perspective and bliss in their own lives. Nobody sings like that because they're miserable. Just look at the birds...
I can't be the only one who thinks that even if Belle didn't make it back by the last petal falling and the beast still lived, she would have stayed, she wouldn't have just abandoned him.
You do realize that the curse would have turned him completely into a beast, right? He was going to lose all humanity, including his ability to think and feel like a human. He wasnt simply going to retain his mind while having the appearance of a beast, the whole point was that if he couldnt find true love who loved him in return before the last petal fell, that he would COMPLETELY become the beast the enchantress saw him as. If belle stayed in that case she would be putting herself in danger, and even if she managed to keep him locked up somehow, staying in that situation would be extremely unhealthy for both of them. I love Belle and Prince Adam's/the beasts relationship, and the story of beauty and the beast overall, but a lot of people seem to overlook this fact about the curse a lot.
Embracing the beauty of the fact that you get the opportunity to feel so strongly is how you turn those tears of pain into tears of joy. Then it's easy to cry AND sing it at the same time. Honor those memories, those people that you're thinking of, with bliss and joy. Then you can truly be a conscious observer of the beauty of this song, and others. It's not healthy to hold onto your pain. Is it really working for you? Drinking painful poison in your mind each time you recall those memories? I cry too, but I do it with intent to be better, stronger, more blissful because I know how important it is to SIMPLY FEEL. Don't squander your blessings of bliss and consciousness... of LIFE.
I just had the worst thought ever but. Listen to the song. Well thinking of the narrative as the person he's singing about is dead "Though she's already flown so far beyond my reach" "I never needed anybody in my life, I learned the truth to late" "I'll never shake away the pain, I close my eyes but she's still there" Honestly you could put any of them. And it would work and make it instantly more devastating, "She will still inspire me. Be a part of everything I do" Im SORRY!??? I'm going to go cry in the shower now. I have so many ships to add this narrative to with this particular song
Well, the beast is letting belle go, even though he knew the petals of the flower would all fall down. He sacrificed himself for belle, because he loved him, and with that sacrifice meaning he wants belle to be happy even though he'll suffer with the curse
What are you on? This sounds like a computer tried, intentionally, to create incoherent babble. I MEAN NO OFFENSE. It is, simply, that I truly believe robot-software are combing the internet and leaving comments and interactions, socially, to cause confusion and dissent. You literally ended the first sentence with, "but." That, alone, instantly lost me. Who is dead? What are these ships? What is this, "narrative," of which you speak?? How is any of what you've said relevant??? Again, I'm simply trying to understand, and I mean this, "with all due respect." How can your thoughts be so entirely broken? Maybe you're not a native English speaking person???? Please help me understand.
Death is a PART of life; you need to understand this. Death is not an end of life; they are, quite literally, two pieces of the same puzzle. YOU'RE LIFE WOULDN'T EXIST WITHOUT DEATH. Life would have utterly no meaning without death. You need to embrace it as a blessing, because experiencing death simply means you got to experience life AT ALL. Every single person that HAS ever existed and WILL ever exist is a miracle, and a complete statistical improbability. You and I should, according to probability, never have had this conversation nor ever existed. 😮 Bliss is the answer. I hope your tears are ones of bliss, otherwise you're simply poisoning yourself with your own mind. Put down the intentional pain. Pick up the bliss. Let your body do what it needs to do, naturally. Just look at a baby; naturally we are blissful and curious, just like babies. Be a seeker and experiment with this life. But don't convince yourself that drinking in the pain, drinking in the poison, is the right choice. That's what a crazy person would do... you aren't crazy, are you?

Yes I can feel samething in Beast's pain and this song it's hearting my feelings straight away I felt guilty and the pain was hurting me a lot when I was enjoying this sad emotional song a lot of times and this song said master what a sad moment I have
Yea, it's called poisoning yourself. How's that working out for ya? It's already been scientifically proven that sadness is your body poisoning itself. Why should such a beautiful song by tarred by such a stupid way of coping? Stop poisoning yourselves! That's, literally, what a crazy person would do. You aren't crazy, are you??? Truly, find a reason to be blissful, instead, and hold onto that no matter what. Your life will start seeing significant improvement because your body will stop poisoning itself.
i was watching this movie in 2017 with my mom and some of my ghost friends. then one of them, charlie, started crying near the end of the film because it reminds me of losing his grandfather to cancer when he faded away from him and his mother the night of his 7th birthday and his childhood friend, catherine, was poking him. in his shoulder in a friendly way of course. i will never forget this memory. the greatest live action disney movie of all time is what it will be to me for evermore.
No, heartbreaking is how you people poison yourselves with sadness instead of CHOOSING bliss. This is a beautiful song and it brings significant joy and bliss to my life, and not a single drop of pain; not one iota. Therefore, I argue, I honor this song in a much more profound way, as I will not tarnish it's beauty by poisoning myself with sadness... like an idiot would do.

Just my opinion but the sorceress is kinda weird. Like i get cursing him to be a beast for eternity a bit extreme but i mean you do you. Its the fact she cursed the staff of the castle to turn into objects and die if he does not get someone to love him. Like they were separated from their families for years because of this, and its because their boss was rude. I get it might be a the staff should have raised him better but like why did the child have to turn into a teacup?
Well thought. At least you weren't poisoning yourself by being sad about such a great song/movie. It was written during a different time, when writers didn't suffer as much scrutiny as they do today. So, some of the story is, certainly, lacking perspective. I think they tried to have Misses Potts explain that they deserved what they got, as caretakers, because they didn't help the beast, as a boy, to be a better person after his mother passed. But, that was not in the original story, and was likely added later in order to explain exactly what you've touched on. She was weird, but so was the time in which the story was written.
I saw the animatedly movie when I was pregnant with my first son… BIG MISTAKE, I cried through the whole thing. For context, I cry through every Disney movie. ❤ But this one, it made me love Beauty and the Beast so much more.
I thought it was refreshing that they both added Days In The Sun, and explained Beasts and Belles backstories further. Her father fleeing the plague and Beasts mother dying... it really forces the story to make more sense.
I feel you. I didn't think it was Emma Watsons best acting. But other characters were really good. I enjoyed her singing, but the acting wasn't exactly believable.

Days in the sun is an homage to how important the sun, and bliss, are to life. Now THAT'S beautiful. Cheers and stay blissful, people; otherwise, what the hell is the god damn point of being here?
How about his mother. You know, the whole reason he became a beastly person in the first place. He shut down after his mother died, and then his father turned him into a horrible person, which led to the spell being cast upon him. So, yes, it's about the mother he vowed to never leave AND Belle, the only two people he ever cared for.
I love how during the entire song, the beast keeps moving higher in the castle's towers trying to catch any last glimpse of Belle that he can

I am mostly in shock by the fact that 2017 was SIX YEARS AGO. It felt like a year ago that this movie was released, time really is an illusion.

Tbh this would’ve been a better way to continue the movie if the servants of the castle didn’t live in pain because of it…
You do realize that the curse would have turned him completely into a beast, right? He was going to lose all humanity, including his ability to think and feel like a human. This is beautiful. I saw this movie years ago. I love this song. It truly shows how much the beast loves Belle.
I was the one who had it all
I was the master of my fate
I never needed anybody in my life
I learned the truth too late
I'll never shake away the pain
I close my eyes but she's still there
I let her steal into my melancholy heart
It's more than I can bear
Now I know she'll never leave me
Even as she runs away
She will still torment me
Calm me, hurt me
Move me, come what may
Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in
And be with me for evermore
I rage against the trials of love
I curse the fading of the light
Though she's already flown so far beyond my reach
She's never out of sight
Now I know she'll never leave me
Even as she fades from view
She will still inspire me
Be a part of everything I do
Wasting in my lonely tower
Waiting by an open door
I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in
And as the long, long nights begin
I'll think of all that might have been
Waiting here for evermore
