YOU GOTTA WATCH MIGHTY MOSHING EMO RANGERS! if you watching fan movies/shows
Adi Shankar is full of himself. For no good reason either. Thankfuck we don’t hear anymore about him and his work.
I think he shot himself in the foot after his whole Apu tirade, and has had a tough time coming back since.
You do know that's who did the Castlevania series on Netflix right?
@@03.benjithatoneguy and his Castlevania isnt that good either
@@funfries3857First two seasons are good, season 3 was a letdown, season 4 was a step up, and Nocturne isn't doing so hot.
I mean, Captain laserhawk was pretty good, although that might be do to bobbypills.
There’s a big space between the regular version of PR and this. You can make an “adult” version of PR without doing the most. But I guess there’s many people liking gritty for the sake of being edgy
id say the 2017 movie did that pretty well.
The tokusatsu Garo is how you do a mature Power Rangers.
Funny enough, it isn't the movie itself that feels super adult to me, it's the in between the lines kind of stuff like Billy selling out and Zack sleeping with two villains despite his character starting the show out as a minor.
Now that you think about it that does give out weird implications
Bulk and Skull killed Jason and sold out humanity because, and I quote, "the Machine Empire had better meth."
That line has been causing me constant psychic damage for almost a decade now.
Say what now!?!
So the Machine Empire has meth for some reason
I am definitely one of those people who find these takes on Power Rangers to be juvenile. A lot of the fan made stuff will throw cursing into scenes when it doesn't need to be there and the lines are delivered terribly. Making something Gritty for Gritty sake has the focus and love pointed at trying to prove something more than telling this story we all love in a beautiful way.
agreed totally its one of the reasons i hated it where it was just being made from spite
@@kryten39 yes! I saw the interview with the guy who made it and it came off so so poorly and pretentious that it was obvious he had no respect for the franchise, and only wanted to do something shocking.
I've seen him in interviews years later and he came off very respectful and seem like he grew up a lot since he made Power/Rangers
@@mightymorphinconspiracythe5024 well thats good still i guess everyone goes through that phase at one time or another plus who knows maybe experience humbled him a bit
@@kryten39 I think it did. He has a show he did on Netflix which is very much in the same vein. What if superheros were horrible drug addicts. I got a few episodes in and stopped. Im not really into gore, especially when it's over the top for no real reason.
I remember being vastly disappointed in the internet at large because evidently a version of Power Rangers that openly despised and undercut everything Power Rangers is about was what we wanted all along?
Shock of all shocks, I like Power Rangers because it IS Power Rangers. Not the insecure edgy version I made up in my head at 14
Preach!!!
I love both, this is awesome but I love power rangers.
Yeah I never liked the concept of taking something then turny into a edgy/scary thing, turning something edgy for the sake of being edgy doesn't really age well in long term. Sure it's cool "Hey we turn this beloved show into a realistic bloody fan film", thinking about it in a more darker tone but that defeats the whole purpose of anything fiction, the whole point is to suspend your belief and to peer into these shows to what it's like.
When I was 15, I liked it.
I'm now 25.
Agreed
Too dark in my opinion, I think the perfect balance of pr being lighthearted and serious is the boom! comics
the shows are too bright

Lol
yo
Haha
Can't wait for the next episode that should arrive in a couple of months (AKA next year), lol.
With gritty reboots like Batman Begins and Casino Royale being praised and hailed as surpassing the previous iterations, people started confusing gritty and dark with good. Those reboots worked because it fit the characters and setting. Power Rangers can be "mature" without being dark or gritty.
Power rangers unworthy did this.
tbh when i first saw it, before the age restriction, i was pretty young but i still found it interesting. As i got older and got into more tokusatsu, im looking back on the short and tbh, its really distasteful. yes its easy for some toku to be turned gritty (modern godzilla, shin kamen rider, kamen rider amazons, etc.) but super sentai/power rangers is kid/teen centered. The camp is what makes it interesting for the demographic and as they grow up, that's what they expect as well. yes take on more serious topics but camp is first
i love camp!
7:37 Damn I never knew that. 😢
I’m just glad that Everyone understood. As Both Trang and Jason’s Brother were actors.
It’s just that you’re one person. So you can tell that Jason was there in spirit.
Say what you will about how each actor may have treated each other off the stage. But behind the scenes and on the Stage, they still treated each other like the Best of friends!
It’s never fun to see someone you knew go and lose their life. 😢
Congratulations on graduating dude
Appreciate it!
Oh, he graduated?
I remember it more than I wish I did
😂😂😂
7:04 “Fighting the Earth”💀💀💀💀
I remember watching this and finding it very interesting...but I remember it even *more* for the response from JDF, who I recall having fair points about the concerns. Ultimately, I think P/R stands out as precisely what it set out to be: a different lens on the MMPR lore, and its underlying themes and concepts.
Power Rangers Unworthy is an example of how a fan version of PR can primary dark and mature as well as lighthearted at times.
I was never a fan of this short film. I think power rangers has shown in the past that it could be mature without resorting to blood, sex, and drugs. That seems like a very shallow measurement a maturity to me.
if people want dark Power Rangers they should watch the Og Sentais and Kamen Rider
Showa era sentai don't play around.
My friend gotten me into Kamen rider. After him explaining the powers and differences from power rangers.......Kamen rider > power rangers. I'm currently on Kuga and man it's pretty good.
the ones that OD and srowned were bulk and skull, not Jason
Jason was gunned down in the truck while all 3 were under rita’s hypnosis
I guess the dark & edginess made it tough to tell who was who at times.
This guy looks life chris chan with a jawline
that’s beautiful
Zach’s fight scene absolutely ruled
It was a fun time but it was everything I hate about “r rated” stuff because they just put stuff in to make it R rated even if it’s clunky and nothing.
Power Rangers definitely could be darker or more serious but it shouldn’t be un-fun and colorful does not equal childish and I can’t stand that people think that
I think Super Sentai handle the dark tone pretty well like in the 80’s and early 90’s of it, they tackle some social issues at least on youth level, they didn’t shy away from character deaths.
Gichi Gamba acting as the Black Ranger was right on point. He did a fantastic job with his scenes.
I LOVED SEEING IT...we need more quality fan films until HASBRO gets their act together to give us a new series.
I've just came back to your channel and I love the fact that you have not gotten rid of your intro
i keep forgetting to get a new one tbh but thank u!
My favorite part was definitely Zack's fighting sequence
Felt unexpected but really awesome, the choreography and originality were on point
ESPECIALLY that helmet throw
Mature, gritty Power Rangers has been done so much better by the Unworthy fan-series, it has just so much love for the franchise that inspired it, the fan community surrounding it, and the production value for a fan series is through the roof, haven't seen but the first few episodes but oh MAN I love it.
What I liked about P/R was the fact that it was gritty and dark. It was a take on how they handle their time of war as adults. Makes me want to have a Power Rangers Civil War type of thing, now, lol.
I remember it and it was crazy
And it was amazing
the other two “jason deaths” were Bulk and Skull
Can you rank every season’s “Monster of the Week” based on their designs, abilities, and how close they were to succeeding?
It was an interesting and exciting take but ultimately I think 2017 film tone was a better compromise for having a more mature take but not TOO mature.
I love this fan film! it got me into watching the Fan seasons Shattered Past and Unworthy.
I’m a big fan of Power/Rangers. I rewatch it all the time. Great video. Thanks for mentioning Chroma Squad. I didn’t know it existed. I’m having fun playing it for the first time on PS4 🔥👌
I enjoyed that power/rangers video, I think my favorite part was the fight scene with Zack until he got deleted. I can't tell you how many times I watch that video just seeing all the characters reimagined that
holy shit. i never knew it was created by some big name peeps. i just assumed it was an absolutely insane fan comment.
ALSO U JUST MADE ME REMEMBER TO GO SEE IF NEW POWER RANGERS UNWORTHEY EPS ARE OUT
To start off, let me say that you are still someone I appreciate and I love your content and as far as saying we should try to explore other ways to do Power Rangers, that is a statement I strongly aggree with. In addition I truly do support the idea that we could have a great mature Power Rangers story but as far as this fan film goes? I hated it. It made me very uncomfortable, the story was truly messy, it felt rushed, they went out of their way to pick on things that just weren't cool and the story reeks of shock value. However I do believe that at the very least it is worth remembering if for no other reason than it got the show some good attention at a time when it was struggling. Also yes I love Rocky. He's one of my favorite red rangers. Totally a character I like a lot but this portrayal was not for me. Again i want to praise the fact that this fan film got people thinking more about Power Rangers and I want to praise that it was made by a person who likes the franchise a lot but otherwise not truly my thing. Respect to those who like it but truly not my thing. Still I appreciate you giving this a look over and reminding us of its' significance in the franchise history.
Power Rangers Unworthy did the same thing, but more, better and with no illogical bullsh*t.
Awesome video man and question are you going to morphincon cause I'd like to say hi
Imo I didn’t think it was as bad as ppl in the comments make it seem. If you didn’t like it that’s ok but no need to cry about it.
i can appreciate power/rangers for what it does, exploring the implications of the teenagers with attitude. But at the end of the day, the campiness is ultimately a part of the power rangers franchise.
i am a sucker for fight scenes though and i rate it a confident 8/10 in that category
As some have said if you want a darker Tokusatsu just watch the original japanese shows. Most of them don't go to the extremes but there are also straight up R rated ones like Kamen Rider Amazons, Kamen Rider Black Sun or Garou (which is an original property)
Another way you can read the title Power/rangers is Power Over Rangers. The slash being a division sign
oh never thought
15:25 I think I get it the Power Rangers were slashed and slayed lol
One of the worst things that ever happened in the Power Rangers fandom. So edgy it’s gross (like everything that Adi Shankar produces)
He took David Yost's terrible and tragic backstage harassment and turned it into a plotpoint.
I imagine he read wikipedia for five minutes and went "woah, so the blue guy is gay, and contemplated killing himself? Metal! I can't wait to recycle this in the most disrespectful and creatively bankrupt way possible!"
(Not to mention doing basically the same thing with Trini)
I can understand people divorced from power rangers liking the fan-film (or people who can divorce IT from power Rangers and look at it as its own thing). But the man clearly has zero respect for the franchise or those who worked on it.
In a word - 'scummy'
@@azariyelvarro6271 This movie makes me mad not only as PR fan but also as a movie fan. Their Idea of mature is gore, drugs and sex. Not to mention what you already said. Hate to see fans compare productions to this garbage or ask for PR to take that direction.
@@Kirazz I'm more generous to the work in and of itself, divorced from literally everything around it, than I probably should be. It's childishly 'adult' but in a way that could make people divorced from the franchise, or who are just straight up edgelords, have a bit of fun. Bone to pick with Adi though for those aforementioned scummy moves, and anyone saying 'make this the reboot's direction' or 'make Adi the new showrunner!!!!' fills me with an indescribable rage for being so media illiterate that they mistook an antithetical takedown parody for a 'badass new direction the franchise SHOULD go in'.
I didn't like it because it wasn't Power Rangers... Not everything needs to be bloody and mature to be taken seriously plus the storytelling wasn't good it was just...hey look at how edgy and bloody we can be.
Honestly dont know why people are upset about it, it was fun, looked good and had it all done on a tiny budget. His short stuff overall was great and is partly why we got a Pubisher series and the last Power Ranger movie that the studio messrd up big time. As they got tons of views and interest.
The 2 Womens in Zack Beds one is played by Charlie Sheen's Exgirlfriend Bree Olson.
Man was just thinking about this movie earlier
Power/Rangers vs E-Squad in which I think E-Squad will win because we have 'secret' weapon
👍🏿
And what is that?
This fan movie was the “DCEU” for the Power Rangers universe. A music director who failed to become a film director paired with a producer that works on bootleg movies because he can’t afford the actual rights, to make a basic version of a beloved franchise in hope this project would get him out of directors jail (after flopping hard with ‘Torque’) and be able to direct an official project. Clearly they didn’t understand what the characters are about or even what makes them appealing, I’m hope to reach their selfish goals.
You should do a video on the Power Rangers in Space “soundtrack” CD. It’s a rare techno album released in Germany. That would be hilarious.
btw. what DO you think of the other handful of fan made power ranger stuff? like shattered past.ninjetti.bloodline of the grid. legacy wars. zordon of eltar. and of course unworthy and others? like what did u think of the psycho rangers unworthy ep??? i thought it was AMAAAAZING
I enjoyed this scenario but maybe a little too dark & gritting. Honestly I wouldn’t mind seeing more almost like Deadpool/wolverine bloodynish but with a serious tone
i feel like this opens questions like what happens with energems? the zeo crystal? like what happens with those power sources? would someone stand up with a new team? like what?
Unfortunately, yes.
If I were director and I picked up power rangers, I go through the comics as well as talk to PR (power ranger) fans and find what they want in a Power Ranger movie
I feel like us fans can have both. Look at tmnt we can have versions for kids like mutant mayhem and stuff like the new movie coming out soon the last Ronin which is rated r
Gonna be real, this fan film is what got me to realize I don’t need every franchise meant for a younger audience to be reimagined in a gritty and edgy way. Better they did something mature than what nick did with the power rangers in being more campy than the 90s.
not only do i remember it, i've been actively thinking about it …kinda
more accurately i've been actively thinking about the concept, because there's another dark parody of power rangers (or well, technically super sentai) that i think is way better, the manga and anime series; go go loser ranger.
i simply prefer it since it doesn't feel like an insecure teenager wrote it, but i also feel its meta commentary on how money driven the franchise hits better than the barely applicable to power rangers child soldier stuff.
This movie and RPM are the things that I want to see now from Power Rangers. The should make some special full movie for adults and leave the show to the kids
Was waiting for you to name Britney Spears as one of Joseph Khan’s music videos.
hey my glorious king
It was skull that drowned
i couldn’t tell
I absolutely loved Power/Rangers hopefully a network picks up MMPR and produces a mature version.
It was honestly wild
Are u going to review Zordon of Eltar the fanmade movie
we about to get evangelion
I liked this better than the the 2017 to the point I thought it was the actual movie and the 2017 was a fan made version at the time
Have you seen the Zordon of Eltar fan film? There was also a companion short, Teenagers with Attitude, as well as an aborted sequel to TwA.
Have you noticed the new channel that streams Power Rangers in their original Japanese versions? The Super Sentai version that they have streamed that I have liked the most so far has been what we know as Lost Galaxy, if for no other reason than the fact that I like that the Sentai are the polar opposite of the Rangers. That the Sentai are not members of a futuristic intergalactic army, but are stablehands instead is just way better.
I'll never understand why Power Rangers fans are so obsessed with death and profanity, it's not like it makes the show better, look at saint seiya, every fight ends with a character dying or spilling huge amounts of blood, yet a lot of people plain don't like it because of its repetitive nature.
Nevertheless this parody (or not) falls under the trap of every single "mature version of a r word kids show" as the edgies call them and is the fact that they just add gore, death, sex and guns......and that's it, there's no nuance, no commentary, nothing thst remotely resembles the original work and that's not how a deconstruction should be, this is just a generic dark story with power rangers slapped on it.
It's not just a Power Rangers problem, it's that nowadays people are so cynical that they confuse being edgy with being cool. It's a fallacy that all of the Internet has nowadays and it sucks
Agreed
We live in a world where being positive is counterculture
I thought it was pretty good tho my only complaint is that we don’t get to see more of the suits or there iconic weapons like how much cooler would that Zach scene would’ve been if he was chopping people left and right with the power axe then blew a hole into someone’s head way cooler then gun and knife
I like it but I understand why others don’t.
Este I would love to hear your thoughts on my theory
My theory is that the way tommy Oliver got his master morpher is from his encounter with his past rangers in the Dino thunder episode fighting spirits and maybe after the events since he knew the powers were still within him he decided to go to Billy and make the master morpher
Would love to hear your thoughts on it
Damn good movie! Great effects, great Cast nd interesting Story! But yes...a bit to dark!
I'm pretty sure Adam was the one in the tub
Someone gotta call the power rangers to get this guy's bangs out of his eyes
Where can I watch this
I feel like an adult power rangers should be more like how they handled garo, shin kamen rider, kamen rider amazons, keep the colorful suites and overall feel of a tokusastu while having more adult themes and some more violence depending on the demo your shooting for.
Kinda reminds me of the boom comics except for its rocky ss the baddie not tommy its also ironic that bulk and skull are baddies since you know they helped rally the people of terra venture against astronima and the alliance of evil during the final push to crush the rangers
Now if only someone would make a Time Force Fan Film. Come on people. Popular Culture Remembers MMPR but give other good seasons some love.
honestly i just want that outro music
It's a mashup of Renai Circulation and the Space Jam theme song
I personally thought an adult version of power rangers was the sentai. Dispite it’s goofy nature at times at least the sentai has killed off characters on screen, especially during the shows era
u right
Nah, Super Sentai doesn't really deal with thinga that maturely, just because a character is moody, doesn't mean it's mature or adult.
Definitely the Zack fight scene
Ive watched this a few times. I think this would be awesome as a series
Yeah from 2015 it was very bloody when I was 4 years old
Just make it a part of the multiverse
Go go power rangers!!
Power Rangers is like pizza. We love it for the cheese. Making is darker or more serious is like deep dish: it won't be for everyone.
idk how to feel about this, it's edgy and brutal. but really cool.
I ofter compare star wars rouge one to this short film, and not in a good way
E-Squad group remembering this amazing ass fan film. Such a gritty take but refreshing
Another universe
I honestly still haven't seen it.
Yes i do remember
Was James Van Der Beek Rocky?
Tbh, @Este, I REALLY Disliked this movie. Not because of its darker tone mind you (PR Unworthy shows you can do a darker take of MMPR WITHOUT losing the essence of the characters), but because this Fan Film felt like, to me, it was made by people who despise the PRs except for maybe Tommy. Admittedly, Rocky's one of my favourite PRs, and I HATED how he was portrayed in this. But that's just me.
i feel that
@@hiEste Thanks for understanding
