TVY7-FV. That’s the rating of Power Rangers, and has been since the beginning.
It put them in this gray area, as TV-Y7 is meant for 7 year olds and up with shows like Spongebob Squarepants and Phineas and Ferb. But it got that flavor of FV, Fantasy Violenxe, which yeah you’re on the nose.
In order to get this rating, Power Rangers has had to do a lot of censoring to make this more kid-friendly in the USA, and hit the peak that it did, capturing the imaginations of millions of kids worldwide. Since Power Rangers was adapted from a Japanese series called Super Sentai, they had to make it more openly acceptable to american audiences, which as you see later in this video, the Japanese do things differently...

The most outta pocket censorship in power rangers is the fact that they don't curse like sailors. Because high schoolers absolutely do that.

  • @jackortega2871

I hate when the rangers act unnecessary, when they become a villain

  • @jayrome1884

Fun fact : in the French version of Samurai the Folding Zords are called "Zord Origami".

I think the card containment in SPD was actually a pretty good addition. I like the idea of a special police force that instead of executing, simply captures them.

For the body swap stuff, my thought is Billy would absolutely respect Kimberly’s body and not look after the swap. But Jake would immediate look at his new Gia body when they swap XD

  • @SpectacularSpiderFan

During PMC, Ciara Hanna mentioned that the body swap episode was actually changed because Azim and John were better at mimicking other people, so the producers changed it

  • @ChronoUchiha

When the Green Ranger first fights the other rangers, you can see him slap Kimberly, but Saban removed the slap sound effect.

Some of the biggest censorship I can think of is the blue ranger from timeforce not having a fatal disease like in timeranger. Also in time force not having the quantum ranger die like the timefire ranger did.

  • @haydenreviewscustomcombos

Maybe that’s why Hasbro wants to reboot the franchise.

  • @GeoOgrepon24

The worst censorship in power rangers is the fact that Lupinranger vs Patranger hasn’t been adapted into a power rangers season because it’s not a well climate for cops

  • @BRUNOTHEECHIDNA

Saban: "Alright, this will be our first Power Rangers series after we bought the franchise back from Disney, so let's do this right. This gold ranger has a typical Japanese food for a morpher? Nah, we gotta change that."

  • @jsutton0010

SPD having the criminal's contained makes sense, since they are a police force.

  • @DesMuttYS

It's kind of weird that a show on broadcast television in the nineteen-nineties was less censored than a present day version on cable.

  • @WrathfulVengence

It’s funny how the parents reacted to the kids punching and kicking. Power rangers would’ve done much better with violence in the modern era. Violence is more widely accepted nowadays.

  • @haroldalan7080

Unlike the american version of Power rangers, some characters of Super sentai had some of their helmets cracked during fighting scenes and Blood was shown how badly the characters were, and they could have some kids under the age of 12 and up if it wasn't edited🩸🩸.

  • @akeemmoore7189

So power rangers had to censor women's breasts because of the costumes. I find it really strange.

  • @akizaangrorec2305

My favorite censorship was in Dekaranger the criminals got blown up killed while in America SPD they contain them as Yugioh cards like in the anime season 1.

I really love Power Rangers ever since I was a kid. Now that I think about it though, they made Power Ranger too kid friendly. Now I mostly enjoy Super Sentai and other Tokusatsu stuff since they're much better at balancing the kid friendly stuff and the more mature themes. I especially like that they're not afraid to kill off characters especially in Kamen Rider... although most of the times they just bring them back on the next episode, lol.

  • @jcnextgeneration

The Censorship for Starninger is the Most egregious one. Ninninger literally Gave us the Most American Ranger in all of Sentai including Miss America from Battle Fever J

  • @Cody-Bear

What about the Japanese dub of the Americanized Power Rangers? 🤔😳
