Project Cherokee (XJ) - PSC Steering SK240 Doesn't REALLY Fit..

  • Let me explain. I bought this SK240 kit from PSC Steering, in hopes it would be a one-stop-shop for a bulletproof steering system. It comes with high flow pump, big bore steering box, remote reservoir (ported for hydraulic assist), hydraulic assist ram, and all the lines/fittings/etc necessary for install.
The pump and box fit perfectly and seem to be high quality parts. Where I have issues starts with the remote reservoir. It's advertised for wranglers and cherokees, but clearly designed and tested on a wrangler. Both the reservoir and the mount foul with the hood closing.
Filmed on iPhone 13 Pro. 4k24.

Brother, I like the spacer idea. You can just get longer bolts with the same thread pitch. If it’s too much bolt, cut of what you don’t need and smooth the fresh cut bolt down with a file. Don’t forget about the spacers. Some times you have to do what you gotta do.

I bolted the res to the rad support

…to connect the fluid reservoir to the pump, use the HK2140-6-12 Hose Kit included with the SK240 kit…

Incorrect fitting was sent out and PSC is not great to deal with.

What size fitting did you want on that resi for the feed to the pump. Typically you want -12. Also, be careful lowering that resi too much, you want good flow from the resi to the pump.

I believe I want -12, but haven’t ordered the fitting yet. I tried reaching out to PSC with nothing back so far. Right now, the reservoir outlet will align with the pump inlet.

Looks nice ! I'm going same way. I almost going to buy the TNT 4 bolt steering bracket for the PSC steering box I bought. So you used the 3 bolt bracket how works no problem? You thinks need to upgrade for 4 bolt bracket ? Thanks

This is really only half of the steering box setup. I also got an Ironman 4x4 fab steering box brace that captures the pitman arm bolt

Hey brother! I have the same kit and have the same problem . Did you figure it out . What did you do . Thanks

Not a 100% solution yet. It seems easy enough to remove the air box and mount it to the radiator support. I’m tempted to 3D print a Mount off the pump itself.

Dang man, those kits aren't cheap, sucks you have to modify to make it work... you'd think if they're going to claim the product fits a specific vehicle that it actually fits.
I'd modify the hood with functional air vents where the fitment issue is resolved while benefiting from extra cool air being introduced into the engine bay while dissipating heat. Hope ya get it sorted, extra work sucks, but this is how modifying goes. 🤙
