@MyRetroLife thank u so much it really means alot.it's just hard man I still feel like I see them and hear them everywhere I go. I'm not sure if u herd of shadowman it came out on the n64 my dad wasn't much of a gamer but he loved that game. Was the only game we beat together that and the sequel shadowman second coming on ps2.
Good list. My personal top 10 gamecube games: 1. Resident Evil 4 2. Metroid Prime 3. Resident Evil 1 Remake 4. Super Smash Bros Melee 5. Zelda Wind Waker 6. Viewtiful Joe 7. SoulCalibur II 8. Mario Sunshine 9. Metroid Prime 2 10. Pikmin
Gamecube..aah, sweet memories! Ever since Metroid Prime came out, I wanted GC so bad..but didn't have money to buy it, because I already had ps2 and tons of games for it. But my dream did get fulfilled in 2007, when I actually bought Gamecube off ebay for roughly 70$ (good luck finding a working GC with adaptor, controllers, etc for that price in 2024). Still have it along with my crt tv. Thanks again Tyler, for bringing up these sweet nostalgia memories!
My top 10 10) Super Monkey Ball 9) Mario Party 4 8) Puyo Pop Fever 7) F Zero GX 6) Luigi's Mansion 5) Mario Kart Double Dash 4) Zelda Wind Waker 3) Super Mario Sunshine 2) Metroid Prime 1) Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Mario Sunshine, 007 Agent Under Fire, and Lego Star Wars were the first games I owned for my GameCube as a kid growing up. Proud to say I still own them and my childhood GameCube console!!!!
Man I luv the GameCube so much. Never owned one till late 2019 but I always had good memorable memories with it from my childhood friend (who was my Nextdoor neighbor) when I use to play it or see him play . Now I have been picking up more games for it and it’s so fun being to see my own personal collection grow and games I can play
Dude i absolutely adore your channel every time i watch one of your videos i am transported back to my teenage years. I live over the pond in Wales but still so many similarities to you. Keep up the excellent work 👍🏻
I'm really glad that I came across your channel, and have enjoyed all the videos that I've seen on it so far! Scrolling through the comments I'm surprised that more people didn't mention F-Zero GX (which I think is one of the best racing games of all times in terms of speed, challenge and track creativity), Viewtiful Joe (some people mentioned it, but not many), and Rogue Squadron. I remember playing Rogue Squadron as one of the games I bought with the system, and not going to sleep because I finally had the Star Wars flying game I had been dreaming of! Great list, well written and executed. Keep up the great work, and thanks for all of the obvious effort that you've been putting into your channel!
I always remember my friends 13th Birthday. We went paint balling and there was 5 of us that went back to his house and we played Super Smash Brothers and for those 4/5 hours we were engrossed. I’d never played 4 players before it was amazing.
I bought a GameCube because of Wind Waker. I remember seeing footage of it on a tv show and being blown away by how it looked. My fondest memories with that console are playing both Zelda games, both Metroid games, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Killer7, RE4, Twin Snakes, F Zero. I still own those games today along with a few others. Great console.
It was my first console. I've been meaning to buy another Starfox game after playing one of my first games, “Starfox Assault” more recently. Now I'm going to get “Star Fox Adventures” my first video game. I love the music in Assult, it's so beautiful and adventurous.
Great video! Anyway, I couldn't think of a top 10 but to make up for that, here are my favourite games on the GameCube!: 1. Metroid Prime 2. Mario Kart Double Dash!! 3. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door 4. Battalion Wars 5. Mario Party 4
An absolutely great list. I’ve recently bought a Gamecube again at a great price after selling my original one years ago to pay for an addiction that was ruining my life which I’d developed during a horrendous breakup. Gonna quickly build up my collection of all the games I had along with many others I didn’t! Great video by the way. I can tell your dad is a great guy & did a great job documenting your youth for both of your sakes🙏🏻🍻
GameCube was my 2nd favorite from this generation (PlayStation 2 #1 XBOX #3). I remember having so many games for this console, but Resident Evil Zero and remake..let’s not forget number 4 had a major impact on me. Metal Gear Twin Snakes was refreshing as well!! Super Monkey ball, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, F-Zero GX, Smash Brothers Melee, Wind Waker, SM SunShine, Mario Kart, Pokémon Colosseum! Honestly there are a few more, but these stick out the most. Tyler you remind me of how it was as a child growing up with family and friends when it comes to this timeline of gaming. As always your content takes me back to incredible storytelling of generations in gaming! Long live gaming, and the money I’ve spent over 32 years is enough to “Make a Grown man cry” Thank you 🤟🏻
Thank you for this. Your videos give me a sense of nostalgia I haven't felt in 20 years. Watching this video just made all my childhood memories flood back in because I only had a GC as a kid.
I bought a used GameCube for $30 from GameStop in 2010. Id played on a GameCube many times already, but this was the first home Nintendo console I ever owned. Later on, I bought F-Zero GX for it for $5. I wish I didnt get too distracted by the PS3 I got a few months later. I would've collected more for the GameCube back then, because prices are sky-high now.
GameCube is peak Nintendo. Absolutely love it and all the games that came out for it. Sad it wasn’t as popular back in The day but glad it gets the love it deserves now.
funny that the xbox soul caliber is on the shelf behind you. Great list! Gamecube is something special, feels like every game is at least good- and there are of course many great/amazing/perfect games.
I remember getting a gamecube in early 2002, i was 17. Went to best buy, i got 007 agent under fire and resident evil. Later that year I got Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2, mario sunshine, star fox adventures, timesplitters 2 and i think metroid prime came out around the holidays. Over the next couple years I got Zelda Windwaker, Resident Evil 0, Viewtiful Joe, Metal Gear Twin Snakes, Resident Evil 4 just so many great exclusives at the time. The wavebird controller was ahead of its time, loved those mini discs. I had an xbox at the time as well and always chose to get third party titles on nintendo, looking back that was a mistake.
Great video and retrospective; Phantasy Star Online was amazing! I'm glad you gave it some spotlight. I like your list--the Nintendo 1st party choices (especially) truly stand the test of time. A couple more personal favorites I spent countless hours with would be: Mario Superstar Baseball and Mario Kart: Double Dash.
The gamecube was the first console i ever asked for and got brand new. Paper Mario the thousand year door, mario party 4, super mario sunshine, and luigis mansion were all such great games that still hold up very well nowadays
You were ahead of your time with your documentation as a kid. From the box opening reveals to the game reviews… pretty cool to see that in 2001 format.
My top ten is Resident Evil 4 Luigi’s Mansion Zelda Wind Waker Mario Sunshine Zelda Twilight Princess Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams Super Smash Bros. Melee Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door Resident Evil remake Wario World The GameCube was the first new system I got and it has some of the best games ever made! Love your channel Tyler like always great video!
I really loved the Need4Speed games on GameCube more than the other consoles. Underground 2, Most Wanted, and Carbon. I know these games on the other systems were better graphically, but the GameCube controller was by far superior when it came to racing games! I always played with manual transmission, and you could set up the GameCube controller in a way the other systems didn't even allow, with the triggers for gas and break, and the c-stick as shift up/ down. This set up allowed you to downshift them e- brake around a corner without letting off the gas, giving perfect handling around corners. Not to mention, with the pressure sensitive triggers, you could rev up and hold the rpm's at the right spot for a perfect takeoff every time. I don't have them anymore, or GameCube for that matter, but recently got them on an old ps2, and while the games were still really fun to play, it just wasn't the same. The GameCube controller was just hands down the greatest video game controller ever made!
Mad nostalgia man my friend had a GameCube across the street from my dad's..wed play monkey ball and resident evil 4 all the time..make music . Sadly he passed away about 20 years ago but I'll never forget those memories
Another great video, my love! ❤ The best part was watching this with Hallie and her getting all excited when her game play clips were used. We had to rewind many times! 😂
-Love this channel man, SMSunshine, Resident Evil 1 remake were definitely my favorites! A friend of mine, and I sit in line to buy GC on launch!! Great memories
The PS2 May have been the first console I ever played but the GameCube was the thing that really got me into gaming. I’ll never forget when my local McDonald’s had a GameCube kiosk with Mario Party 4 and my dad showed it to me and let me play it. I was instantly hooked and begged for the console and game for Christmas. When I finally got it, that began my love of Mario and Nintendo which turned into my love for gaming as a whole. In other words, I owe a huge part of who I am today to the GameCube
Really nice list of games. Glad to see the Gamecube get more recognition. Games which do not appear on this list that are among by favorites are Viewtiful Joe, Star Wars: the Clone Wars, Star Fox: Assault, and Pokemon Colosseum. I am playing Pokemon Colosseum right now.
Thanks for this list and the memories! I need to go back and collect a few Gamecube games since I have the Wii that can play them now. Back then I was playing more XBOX and Playstation while my youngest brother was playing most of the Gamecube games. Definitely need to grab some of these gems and get to playing.
Excellent video, Tyler! So many awesome picks, and a few surprise picks too. It’s definitely challenging narrowing the choices down to 10, when the console had so many quality titles 👍.
Your inclusion of Phantasy Star Online brings me so much happiness. Such an underrated and unveravalued game. So much of the modern game industry can trace things back to PSO!
I traded in all my games and previous console( I was always trading games so don’t remember what I had before it) with my brother to get the GameCube when it came out. We had the game pass at blockbuster and would walk back and forth from blockbuster sometimes multiple times in the same day to switch out games. What a joyous time in my life!
I missed Metroid Prime the first time around, but played the remaster and, man, it's one of my favourite games. Really captures the atmosphere of a classic 2D Metroid game, like you mentioned
I just started collecting GameCube last year because I was watching Scott the Woz and I’ve been in love with it ever since. I had a GameCube growing up but we only had two games for it “Monsters Inc: Scream Arena & Finding Nimo”. I really love the GameCube a lot.
I didn't get a GC until 2005 or so, and I regret not getting it sooner. It's such a charming system. Windwaker was beautiful and fun, I loved sunshine, metroid was mindblowing, and eternal darkness was soooo good! I never got to phantasy star online. Great list Tyler!
I got my first Gamecube in July 2005 and it was the indigo model and I still have it today along with a platinum GameCube I got at a yard sale in August 2019 and the jet black model I got from another yard sale in October 2021. I currently have 3 GameCubes with different colors.
The GameCube was so underrated. It was always talk about Xbox or PS2. Glad that I’m not the only one who grew up with these gems. I remember all of these games on this list and playing them with my older brother! Oh how I miss the simpler days.
I remember going to my step sisters moms house, HER step daughter had a GameCube me and her use to play super smash bros melee every time I came over. I begged and pleaded my mom to get me a GameCube with melee. Finally got it for Christmas one day with the game which also came with a copy for Mario sunshine. I ended up getting pikmin later and realized how amazing the console was and all the games that were made for it. My only complaint is the cd size lol
I never played Eternal Darkness, but I had a similar heart attack moment with Animal Crossing, of all games! My friend and I were about 10 years old and having a sleepover. It was dark, and for fun, we kept resetting Animal Crossing to see Mr. Resetti get angrier and angrier, and eventually he tricked us into believing that he had just deleted my save file! My friend and I were both momentarily terrified! It's even funnier now that this video has taught me that 2 different GameCube games play this trick on you, and the other one is a horror game.
What a fantastic list, might be the same as my own top 10 or VERY close to it even TBH, though I would move some games around. I loved the GameCube, great video!
I had the privilege of having a lot of console growing but this is the one i associate the most with my childhood since im born in 1995. The N64 and Switch libraries are better imo but the Gamecube hold a special place in my heart! Thinking of exploring its library even more this year!
The GameCube was what introduced me to the Nintendo franchise at 4 years old in '06. I remember playing games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Monkey Ball, and Kirby Air Ride with my brothers, and cherishing our carefree times together on how fun and well polished the games were on the system.
I just played wind waker for the first time. I'm like 32 now. I used to think it looked cartoonish but it was so fun! It's literally like a regular Zelda game
Thanks brother I was just starting to feel that sadness creeping in but you helped me more than ya know. My dad bought my indigo purple cube. 99 bucks in about 2004? Any who I can relate love remembering them times. We are the super players.
I knew back then Gamecube was special. I still love the design and games. Resident Evil Remake and Zero blew me away. Wind Waker was my FIRST 3D Zelda, i skipped the N64 as i was addicted to PS1, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid etc so going from Link to the Past to Wind Waker was... life changing man! lol. It pulled me away from my EverQuest Onlne Adventures (PS2 MMORPG) addiction for a solid month, that's saying A LOT.
Another great video Tyler! Some games I’ve been meaning to play, and some of my favorites! I grew up with Melee, Sunshine, Mansion and Monkey Ball! So many great memories. I have Metroid Prime remastered for Switch, haven’t played it yet.. And I need to get Eternal Darkness & RE4!
One of the best games that many people don't even know but has always been my favorite gamecube game (and one of my favorite games of all time) is: 1. Skies of Arcadia Legends
Nice to see the old footage in this video! So, you got a Japanese version of the console and the games? Was the inside language English or did you play all those games in Japanese? Great list by the way!
Let's see, my list would be: 10: Super Mario Sunshine 9: Baten Kaitos 8: Twilight Princess 7: Custom Robo 6: Paper Mario TTYD 5: SSX3 4: Soul Calibur 2 3: F-zero GX 2: Resident Evil 4 1: Tales of Symphonia I've beaten Symphonia so many damn times lol, same with RE4. Great console, and a great video too!
It's funny you mention the Cube version of Soul Caliber 2 often gets forgotten, if memory serves me correctly it was the best selling version of that game, lol
GameCube was very underrated. I actually sold my PS2 to get a GameCube. I was a huge Resident Evil fan and they had the exclusive license. I actually did not regret it either. Luigi's Mansion was good. Metal Gear Twin Snakes. Phantasy star Card game etc etc.
Well, you’ve already put some of my FAVORITE GameCube games. Which were, Luigi’s Mansion, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, AND The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker!

Where is Resident Evil 1 Remake?! Its not only one of the best Gamecube Games, its one of the best Games in Gaming History
Didn't mention this in the video but I limited it to one game per franchise. Between RE4 and RE1 Remake I chose RE4
Your inclusion of Phantasy Star Online brings me so much happiness. Such an underrated and unveravalued game. So much of the modern game industry can trace things back to PSO!
YES!!!! Eternal Darkness getting some love!! one of my all time favorite games with how unique it was and how much it just creeped you the hell out.
Just randomly found this video, but i really enjoy the clips of your childhood playing withbur friends
GameCube is when we all found out they were less than others...and have been ever since😢.. great content
I just started collecting GameCube last year because I was watching Scott the Woz and I’ve been in love with it ever since. I had a GameCube growing up but we only had two games for it “Monsters Inc: Scream Arena & Finding Nimo”. I really love the GameCube a lot.
I only had the incredibles for it growing up 😂
I didn't get a GC until 2005 or so, and I regret not getting it sooner.
Metroid Prime is THE gamecube game, if you didn’t played it, you missed out… One of a kind experience!
Had a gamecube as a kid. Didnt even know metroid existed. Absolutely was BLOWN away with the remaster on switch. 10/10
The GameCube was so underrated. It was always talk about Xbox or PS2. Glad that I’m not the only one who grew up with these gems. I remember all of these games on this list and playing them with my older brother! Oh how I miss the simpler days.
Melee will always be my favorite Smash. It feels better than the others to me, plus the trophies and event matches were so fun and rewarding.
That little GameCube box is so unique and iconic.
Love these videos reminds me buying every console for my son.
My used to love watching my older bro play mgs twin snakes, re4, or ocarina of time from the collectors edition etc. Man i miss being a kid sometimes
Finally, someone with eternal darkness on their list, such a forgotten but amazing game
Great list! My personal favorite is Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2.
great list tyler! thankyou for uploading this!
I grew up with the GameCube and mane I miss them days 😭
I had the privilege of having a lot of console growing but this is the one i associate the most with my childhood since im born in 1995. The N64 and Switch libraries are better imo but the Gamecube hold a special place in my heart! Thinking of exploring its library even more this year!
The GameCube was what introduced me to the Nintendo franchise at 4 years old in '06. I remember playing games like Smash Bros, Mario Kart Double Dash, Super Monkey Ball, and Kirby Air Ride with my brothers, and cherishing our carefree times together on how fun and well polished the games were on the system.
Always cherish those times!
Dude why In the new video is comments turned off? This channel takes us all back and seeing other comment is great. Why turn it off?
TH-cam disabled them. It’s a policy they have with minors on camera. Trying to get them restored
I appreciate the video and all, but my big takeaway is that you have a really cool dad! 😊
I just played wind waker for the first time. I'm like 32 now. I used to think it looked cartoonish but it was so fun! It's literally like a regular Zelda game
I love the Gamecube, I spent so many hours playing Super Mario Strikers, Smash Melee and Kirby AirRIde
Beach Spikers is definitely a favorite of mine, as well as basically your whole list
I enjoyed playing my Nintendo GameCube when I was a kid/teenager Mario & Sonic were my favorite games on it
Thanks brother I was just starting to feel that sadness creeping in but you helped me more than ya know. My dad bought my indigo purple cube. 99 bucks in about 2004? Any who I can relate love remembering them times. We are the super players.
Going back in time with My Retro Life I’ve seen all from 1980-Now great memories
Gamecube was a fun time as a kid alongside the PS2.
One of the best games that many people don't even know but has always been my favorite gamecube game (and one of my favorite games of all time) is:
1. Skies of Arcadia Legends
I'm happy you mentioned PSO. This is one of my favorite games ever made
Great list as always man! Love all your stuff.
Nice to see the old footage in this video! So, you got a Japanese version of the console and the games? Was the inside language English or did you play all those games in Japanese? Great list by the way!
Paper Mario thousand year door is my favorite of all time on the GameCube. That and wind walker’s graphics have aged extremely well.
Let's see, my list would be:
10: Super Mario Sunshine
9: Baten Kaitos
8: Twilight Princess
7: Custom Robo
6: Paper Mario TTYD
5: SSX3
4: Soul Calibur 2
3: F-zero GX
2: Resident Evil 4
1: Tales of Symphonia
I've beaten Symphonia so many damn times lol, same with RE4. Great console, and a great video too!
1. Mario Sunshine 2. Super Smash Bros Melee 3. Mario Strikers 4. Kirby’s Air Ride 5. MLB Slugfest 2003
My favorite Nintendo console ever still pop in melee and sunshine every now and then double dash will always be my favorite, mario Kart!
I know sports game were not good on GameCube but Kobe Bryant Court Side 2 I loved. Played with Micheal Jordan for the Wizards for hours
Great list.
Luigi's Mansion sold me on the GameCube.
The prime games still look and play great on the cube. Looking forward to prime 4.
My first console 💯🔥🔥🔥
great top 10 my dude ! pretty much a spot on list haha
Gamecube was my most recent console until a few weeks ago, when I bought a wii (mostly to play gamecube games in better quality!).
I finnally got my first ever GC this year off ebay and I love it so much ❤❤❤❤
