I have a question. Will squids ever go to the surface because they live deep where the pressure is very high, or they can go near the surface sometimes?
They are actually pretty harmless when they get near the surface as they can't function properly and usually die. They live over 10000 feet below the surface, and if you are that far down, you have bigger things to worry about, such as pressure.

In reality we have no idea how Giant Squid hunt, let alone if they even *hunt* to begin with. Iirc the current hypothesis is that they lay in wait far away from prey, and sneak their 30+ feet long tentacles close to the prey, before grabbing and pulling it closer to eat. There isnt much indication that they would regularly attack things directly above them. I would love to see the source you used for this one. Cause if you happened to find something that I missed through my years of research I would love to see. 3) Scientists have argued for years about how strong the Giant Squid actually is. We don't exactly know if it is a slow ambush predator or if it actively swims around hunting food. Even if you were in the area it was feeding (you would be able to get there anyway due to the crushing pressure) it would probably ignore you, or look at you from afar being more curious about you than anything. We really don't know anything about its behavior. Tldr: Please don't make pointless claims to scare people about a magnificent animal where we still don't know much about it.

The Dosidicus Gigas is a very interesting species for me, as besides living in groups, they also posess a language (they communicate with high-hertz chromatophoric blinking) and could actually use their tentacles to grab objects; so in an undetermined future, they *could* theoretically lay the ground for a civilization.
