  • @antouab221

    The 6MT, the turnkey and the lack of the moonroof are the main selling points and reasons why I chose the Base model. If this base model came as the most expensive model in spite of its simplicity I would still buy it over any CVT model and any time of the day...

      @andrewdonohue1853 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@concernedcitizen2898 that is correct, but i didnt need any of those extra "features" they ram down your throat if you want the 2.5. the 2.0 with the 6 speed isnt a race car but it is completely adequate. it makes 148 hp, i remember growing up a 2.0 cavalier made like 85 hp and the 2.2 i think was around 95 hp, i got around for years just fine with a 91 cavalier 2.2 tbi. if i want to drive something that's quick i have a 03 bonneville SSEi with the 3800 supercharged and goodies like a PCM and pulley.
      for a commuter 148 hp is just fine. $25K for a car for my budget is quite enough expense already. im quite happy with the package and really like the manual.

    • @andrewdonohue1853
      @andrewdonohue1853 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i like a sunroof and wish it was available with a manual because i might have considered that option.
      things i really like
      -the manual is much more reliable then a CVT
      -NO EYESIGHT. im a class A CDL holder, i drive a commercial truck locally 50K miles a year. i know how to drive and DO NOT nor do i need driving aids
      - no push to start
      - no stop start nonsense
      what do we need all this add on crap for anyways? what are we lazy or incompetent, or both? just a bunch of upsell crap to make the car cost more
      BTW i have a premium 6MT. heated glass where the wipers sit to melt the crap off the wipers? heated seats? heated mirrors? a nicer interior? these things are useful.

    Does the Limited edition come with automatic seat adjustment for the passenger? For $43k Canadian, you get a Forester, but the passenger has to adjust their seat like it's a 1980's joke. Wondering if Subaru's gonna evolve. I own a '16 WRX & might get a Crosstrek, but after a car hits the, say, $30k mark, how about automatic seats for the passenger. $37k before taxes is a lot for a car that isn't trying that hard at all re: interior.

    I took the limited out for a drive and found it very agile and quite fun. I’m going to take the sport out next and see how that feels. Did you drive both and was there any performance difference given they both share the same engine? Noted the difference between the 17 and 18 inch wheels. Subaru tells me that they program the cars to accommodate the wheel size.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I have not driven a 2021 Limited Crosstrek, but I would expect it to basically feel the same as the Sport. The one-inch difference in wheel size is not enough to make a noticable difference.

    What is the major differences in the limited and sport? I’m having a hard time deciding and I’m technically “downgrading” from my 2020 Outback limited. I don’t want to get rid of too many features but I noticed you said the limited crosstrek shows more vehicle specs on the higher little screen but didn’t say that for any other model.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The fancy screen on the top only comes on limited models. You'll also get leather seats, full LED headlights, rear automatic braking, more features standard (push button start, larger touch screen, blind spot monitors) and optional (navigation, Harmon kardon sound) than the sport

  • @robob221

    Strange how they restrict the Harmon Kardon sound for only the highest level crosstrek. This car is aimed at young buyers who probably care more about thumping base yet it’s offered in an out of reach configuration. I also do not understand why the sport model has no option for led head lights in 2021. I don’t think there is any car manufacturer offering 26k cars without led standard. You can get econobox sedans with led standard. Very strange cost cutting, no arm rest or USB ports for the back to top is off. I get the impression the engine upgrade was simply the first of many upgrades coming to the crosstrek down the road. Wait for 2022?

    Excellent video. I own a 2018 limited legacy and I will purchase a limited Crosstrek or the Solterra/ plug in Forester (2023) going forward depending on what's available. Thank you, extremely informative video. The only difference that I see is the legacy has no X mode, just a hill function which is also a great feature.

    I have said prior, the subaru wheel designer / picker, needs to be changed. They are getting worse ugh. Now they are going that fake bolt thing on the wheel face, oh the horror. Original crosstrek wheels were the least bad of the bunch. Thankfully and I mean that seriously, they left the manual handbrake. Every subaru model should have one. Also, thankfully they left the normal HVAC controls. Big mistake on the legacy and outback, all in the big screen, very accident prone design. "S" and "I" modes are pointless in my opinion. I hope the backup cameras are better than my 2016 legacy that flickers randomly and is slow to show up when put in reverse. I wonder if there is a program update for that from subaru? I believe XMODE was developed as the CVT is not as capable as the old 4eat's that had no special modes but worked great in snow and dirt. In my opinion the base model with the stick is probably the best deal. The base with CVT would be next choice, the rest is just extra fluff that will eventually cost more to repair. Now if the 2.5ltr had an option of a manual tranny, that would be something fun. Thanks for the vid. The sport is nice but on the pricier side for someone like myself. A base forester is cheaper, same engine, same CVT, same ground clearance and more storage space.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you're talking about with the backup camera on your 2016 Legacy, my 2017 STI essentially had the same screen and it did the same thing. The newer screens (2018+ Legacy, Outback, Crosstrek, 2017+ Impreza, 2019 + WRX and STI) seem to be better at displaying the backup camera. Although I will say the 2020 Outback and Legacy don't flicker but they can be a little slow to pop up.

    • @flat4forlife588
      @flat4forlife588 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CarDietrich The screen thing is quite annoying and in the sun, it is 100% unreadable and all you see is a bunch of squiggly lines (even friends have made that comment) which I believe is part of the touch sensory portion. If I were not going to trade, I would just put in an aftermarket head unit with a back camera built in. Well to be honest I would never buy another legacy, why, simply because all the functions are built into the touch screen. A very bad design as I find the 2016 legacy screen annoying but at least it still has physical HVAC controls.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's funny you mention the squiggly lines. Just about every car with that particular 7" touch screen starts showing them after a couple of years or so, but I had my 2017 WRX STI for three years and it never did. I never garaged that car, BUT I did have ceramic tint on every piece of glass including the windshield the whole time I had it. Maybe the lines start to show up because of damage from the sun? I dunno. But I know exactly what you're talking about.

      @@CarDietrich Interesting, there is a recall for an exhaust part of my legacy that cracks at the flex joint. When I bring it in for that, I will discuss that with them as I have an extended gold plus warranty so maybe the can replace the unit? Who knows, they never like to do anything near me when using the extended warranty so it's a long shot. NY stealerships suck, period!

      Call 1-800-SUBARU3 and complain. They might approve your warranty claim, or at least send you some SWAG. My mom had to have a battery replaced in her Forester and they sent her a check for what she paid for the battery (her car was still under warranty) and like some Subaru beach towels or something. I have a question. I am planning too buy a subaru crosstrek in a few years but I don't know which trim level should I buy. Should I buy a sport or limited for the crosstrek? Because the sport one has dual x mode and limited I think there is no dual x mode but it has a parking sensors and crosstrek sport doesn't have a parking sensors i think. And can you tell me which crosstrek has a power lift gate please? So if you see this what I wrote can you reply what I say please

    • @CarDietrich

      At this point no Crosstrek has a power liftgate. Unless you are going to go off-road a lot and you will use the dual-mode X-mode frequently, I would say go with the Limited if it fits your budget. The LED Headlights, Reverse Auto Braking, standard bigger screen, and nicer wheels (in my opinion) make it worth it
