Lex! great initiative! but personally, as a bilingual navtive spanish speaker, it's really weird to hear you speaking in robotic spanish or hearing Milei speaking in robotic English, is it possible to have a track in which both of you speak in your native languages? Thanks!
Lex, consider adding a third audio track for the original language, where you are heard in English and Milei is heard in Spanish, for people who speak both languages. Otherwise, people who know both languages have to listen to a dubbed version of you, or keep flipping the switch.

Kudos to the interpreters for this interview! This must have been extremely exhausting to simultaneously translate a 2-hour conversation like that. Incredible work! Thank you for making interviews like this possible!
From a perspective of a Iranian I just love the fact that a person like Milei rise from ashes and tries to save economy and freedom, gives me hope that some day something similar happens to my country.

Capitalism is a right wing policy. If you want to know each idea's political leaning, I can explain to you.
Javier's answer about does he fear of assassination gave me chills. When he made it very clear that freedom is worth dying for I am very convinced he would move forward until he achieved whatever abstraction of freedom is or perish in the way. Javier is much more educated and well-read than I had expected.. I thought he was a populist with radical economic ideas, but this guy is intently convinced he knows exactly what he's doing and he's able to explain his reasoning logically. Good on him.
For years before his presidential run, he was already extremely popular for preaching these ideas and debating other economists in the argentinian media. He is not just some guy who came to repeat what the uninformed public thinks for votes, so at least for me, it was a real surprise seeing him win the election.
Hi, I'm from Argentina. This dude explained in 2018 what was going to happen with the political Sprectrum in Argentina in an interview. He specifically explained how the parties would partition and named people which were going to go left or right. In 2023 exactly what he said happened, that year I realized that Milei saw things in a way I could not understand but was so fucking right and precise about so many things it made me vote for him with my eyes closed.
He taught Economics at a university in Argentina and holds a Master's degree, along with several publications and books. He also used to have a rock band.

My favorite part of the interview was when the conversation turned to soccer. Milei talks less and smiles more. He describes the game, its players, and special moments with such candid appreciation. The right man in the right place at the right time. After 60+ years of suffering under socialism … the ppl were finally willing to take a chance and vote en masse for something completely different. They had nothing left to lose. In parallel, the government was so corrupt and inept that it couldn’t organize and react to his instant popularity quickly enough to cut off the threat. They were caught off guard. This is what always happens when communism / socialism collapses into disarray. Sudden, jarring change. The difference here vs, say 1991 Russia, is that the figure who come forward to step into the gap was a positive and intelligent one. The ppl of Argentina deserve credit for recognizing that.
Lex, Thank You for this exceptional interview. It came up on my feed several times, but I dodged it because all I had seen in MSM made him look ridiculous. @m00rons poverty rates were measured wrong under past governments. Look into the statistics in depth and listen to experts and you'll find the answers if you really want to know 🙏
@@m00rons Basically, it was all thanks to the economy minister of the previous government, together with the worst president in Argentina's history. We had a currency gap of 119% and fixed prices, which means the previous government had an impressive level of repressed inflation that Milei had to address upon taking office. So, if you think about it, the 53% poverty rate was left by the previous government, and what Milei is achieving now is reducing poverty sustainably, with a clear downward trend.

The technical know-how and intellect of this man is clear. He reminds one of the scientific approach that ought to be demanded from leaders and used in any advanced or complex economy.
It is remarkable that such a smart man is portrayed and demonized in our media as a lunatic. This says everything about our mainstream media. My 2 cents from Flanders (Belgium).
Is he portrayed that way in Europe? In the US, Milei is broadly admired as an economist, even in academic circles. I suppose leftist media might not favor him, but generally even our center-left media appreciates attempts to oppose further leftist decay in LatAm
Listening in from Norway, what a man! Get a bit lost in the economic lingo, but heard him busting the balls of the elites at UN and WEP. The world needs more leaders like Javier, I hope he will be able to continue his mission to restore Argentina and inspire the rest of us. But please look after him, challenging the establishment comes with risks. Maradona, Messi and now Javier, that's an Argentinian dream team.
I'd really recommend putting some effort into the economic lingo. Mises Institute and FEE amongst others are great places for that Austrian Style. Milton Friedmans Chicago school is always great. Maybe combine it with a more 'conventional' economic education but if you learn it alongside the others you'll pick up when they leap off track a bit. I've found the 'conventional' stuff to be pretty good until they take a wild leap into massive contradiction. (Also a bit suspicious my Lecturer who also wrote the text was a closet Austrian that was toeing the line with what she 'had' to teach along with what she really believed)
When Milei says " the first to defend equality before the law were the liberals" he actually means "the libertarian". In Spanish "liberal" is "libertarian" unlike English were it means a more left wing progressive person. EDIT: I know there's a difference between "classical liberal" and "libertarian", what I tried to stress is that, in this sentence, he is not referring to "liberals" as Americans understand the word, but to "classical liberals/libertarians"
Liberal has the same meaning in English, yet in the US (possibly in Canada as well) the term became the way to describe left-leaning centrists. That's why right-leaning centrists (ie: Jordan Peterson) describe themselves as classical liberals.
This interview gave me chills. This guy is incredibly knowledgeable and pragmatic. As a huge soccer fan, I'm deeply moved to learn how he connected his experience as a goalkeeper to his life away from the pitch. Great interview!
I'm from Buenos Aires. When I was 17 I used to go to a Starbucks every morning to work on my exams. I used to see Javier Milei on the line to order. Back then he was a frequent guest on a TV show called Intratables that aired on prime time, where he would go on passionate and sometimes even raged-induced outbursts that would go viral. His popularity only grew from there. It's insane to see that guy with the funny hair from Starbucks become president a few years later and shake hands with Xi Jingping and Donald Trump.
He is hope for many countries. As Iranian I follow every move and change he is making as libertarian. Argentina can be a model for countries like mine to move from left programs which is destroying our freedom and stopping economics growth. Enemies of freedom are wishing his failure.
I think its much more than "just" shaking hands with world leaders. He is the first president to ever implement libertarian ideas in real life and it seems to be having a contagious effect in the world. What once was just a thought experiment of acadamics is now real. His actions are a direct influence on the upcoming administration of the most powerful country on earth. Who knows which countries follow next. There is a real chance that he has singlehandedly kickstarted a libertarian "revolution". That guy in the cafe started as a lonely university professor whose only friends were his dogs. He went from being Argentina's laughing stock when he started appearing in those TV shows (his outbursts gave good ratings), to singlehandedly destroying one of the most corrupt and entrenched political systems in the world and now becoming the beacon of libertarism to the world. It truly is the stuff of history books.

@@4evahodlingdoge226incorrect, Milei wants to move to the same schema Chile has been using for the past decades where the companies compite openly for the infrastructure contracts, the government doesn’t spend money on it and the company gets the income through the users paying for it. For example in highways, with paying outposts. In chile this has created thousands of work opportunities
I think this right here is the greatest missed point that USA libertarians miss. There is a hyperfocus on the Federal Reserve as the great bogeyman, but all of the problems (and conspiracy theories,) attributed to it can more easily be explained by the excessive size and spending of the Treasury. The impacts that can be blamed on the Federal Reserve are the consequence, not the cause. The runaway excess of the Federal Government is the real problem. The #1 metric we should be focused on is Federal spending as a % of GDP. That alone is the greatest indicator of how good or bad our government is doing.
@@Meton2526 You're right but don't forget the Fed is what enables the excessive spending of the government. Fed prints money and gives it to banks who buy the government bonds to finance the spending. When that wasn't enough they bought the bonds directly with QE.
@@Meton2526Could you explain a bit further? I guess the point I’m failing to understand is how less spending would be advantageous. When we spend money, it doesn’t go away but rather it circulates. So how would keeping the money stationary benefit an economy? Obviously where you spend the money is very important but why would less across the board be helpful?

Beeing from Argentina, let me let you only this: express your need for freedom now, don¿t wait to loose lifes and live in a disaster to star fighting. Just take action the better way you can.
Believe me even here in Argentina the jounalist speak about donald trump as if he was satan himself, indoctrination is worldwide, they use the same rethoric when it comes to brainwashing the people here as in the US.
His critic of media is problematics. The outrage/tribalism-inducing media is mostly the product of free market capitalism around a population who are tribal and who value oversimplified argument and entertainment over proper arguments. Such media is not the product of "socialism". If people are not better educated, the media will always be a tribal and smearing sh*tshow when it is free. To his defense, he at least seems intelligent and mostly sincere (at least better than most politicians). The zero-sum and provokative demagoguery is still a little concerning though. His critic of media is especially problematics.
My country too. It's a global monopoly. As George Carlin said, "It's a big club, and you ain't in it. It's the same big club they use to beat you with"
Jesus, let's just take a SINGLE response from Milei and compare that to a response from Kamla Harris........Milei can expand COHERENTLY into MULTIPLE PARAGRAPHS of his OWN thoughts, including the theory of WHY he wanted to do something/did something and then have more thoughts on the issue. Fast forward to Kamla, she could not speak a SINGLE SENTENCE that was coherent. She didn't have her own thoughts, she didn't have references, just MAYBE one incoherent sentence on the FEELINGS of a particular question and then IMMEDIATELY word salad. Milei is incredibly intelligent, has thoughts, MANY thoughts, references theories....explains what those theories mean to him and then coherently puts them into HIS perspective of ACTUAL POLICY that he would like to implement. THAT'S A LEADER.
@@hanskuipers3998was about to comment the exact same thing, it’s insane how they would compare milei to Kamala when they’re not even ruling the same country!
_Kamala was trained to read from a script. Reminds me of the customer service jobs I had in the past._ _So yes, no thoughts of her own and she can only say what was pre-approved by HR._
@@hanskuipers3998 Kind of.....the big difference is Trump HAS thoughts, he CAN expand those thoughts in very long interviews. The problem with Trump is that he goes off trail on weird tangents sometimes but eventually circles back to his point. It feels nice to speak multiple languages and to be able to switch back and forth between English and Spanish during this interview, capturing the original essence of this magnificent conversation.
I'm not from Argentina but I really hope this guy succeeds. As a former government employee, I witnessed first hand how inefficient public administrations can be. Public workers are paid mediocre salaries but given near total job security. This is the perfect recipe to attract the most parasitic people. They waste tax payers money and make every citizen's life harder. Politicians won't do anything about it because they're afraid public sector unions won't support them on election day. If Milei can do with his government what Musk did with Twitter, maybe my country's politicians will understand it's doable and follow his example.
It's not looking good for him with the austerity measures he's implemented. 41.7% of Argentinians were below the poverty line just prior to him taking office. And now it is at 53%. Insane failure thus far
@@OoLenny40oO It's impossible turn poor 10% of the population in less than a year. The only thing Milei did was stop the price control of the state and get rid some subsidies. If the people was negatively affected by those measurements, that means that they already were poor.

Do you know what populist is? It’s someone who appeals to the masses and the general populace. You can be populist and conservative or any other flavor of politics :|
to be fair, I think he is kind of a populist, in the sense that he is aware how important it is to call the attention of the public and to transmit a certain image to the population. As he said, he is a showman. Also, one of his favourite authors, I believe it was Rothbard, said that you need a populist from the right in order to implement the right policies, and I believe that is exactly what he has been trying to do. With that being said, there is a difference between being a populist with regards to attitudes and being a populist by wasting money from the population in stupid things that look good but are irrational
Man, what a great Interview. I am envy about Argentina, that you have now such a great leader. Wish we would have the same here in Germany. Viva Argentina, viva la Libertad!
I'm Argentine and voted for Milei, I am really happy and hopeful for my country for the first time in my life. I've visited Germany and love it, it's a beautiful country with a really important cultural heritage.

I got really emotional, too. He is a genius, a poet, and a hero. He explains in depth the things that Americans like me NEED to understand.
Now in English it has left-wing connotations but originally it was in reference to those who believe in liberty
Only in America does liberal mean "liberal with other people's money".
In USA, not in English
Liberal and libertarian are different. Leftists progressives took the world ‘liberal’ but Milei’s use is the correct one
Liberal has the same meaning in English, yet in the US (possibly in Canada as well) the term became the way to describe left-leaning centrists. That's why right-leaning centrists (ie: Jordan Peterson) describe themselves as classical liberals.

Lol imo his hair is fine, he should do something about them sideburns tho 😂
So he's against government building public infrastructure? That's dumb and isn't going to help the economy in anyway.
@4evahodlingdoge226 He's against corrupt politicians stealing money, you absolute moron.
@@4evahodlingdoge226 he is not against it, he had to cut spending URGENTLY, and since that is one of the biggest areas of spending and at the same time, under current situation, the place where you have the biggest corruption, he decided to put a stop to it until the emergency in the macro economy resolves. After that, he is planning a system in which the State does not build using tax payers money, rather, it calls private companies to propose their plans, chooses the cheapest one, and the works are financed gradually over say, 30 years by the people using that building, route, etc.
@@pedropedro-cm6lv So all new roads, bridges etc will be built by private entities and charge toll fees which will be high in order for the general public + goods and services to be transported?

@@4evahodlingdoge226incorrect, Milei wants to move to the same schema Chile has been using for the past decades where the companies compite openly for the infrastructure contracts, the government doesn’t spend money on it and the company gets the income through the users paying for it. For example in highways, with paying outposts. In chile this has created thousands of work opportunities
“The real tax burden is the size of the state.” Truer words…
Can you explain to me what that means?
@@FerdEdits private should solve it, not the state ..the goverment MUST NOT use YOUR money (taxes) to spend it in what they think it is ok
I was born in the states, but my parents are Argentinean LEGAL immigrants. For years, I've contemplated moving back to the motherland, but because of Milei, my family is now in the process of it.
Very excited and am glad to have both Trump and Milei as leaders while I make this transition. Praying for both. Thank you, Lex! Fantastic interview.

I think we are so identified with Left or Right camps - we ignore the fact that electing people who are genuine and intelligent like Javier Milei is the most important step. I will watch Argentina with great hope and wish the great people only the best outcomes.
excellent guest!! very clear in his ideas and goals. As a mexican I really envy having a leader that at least knows how to talk but knows so much about economy and societies. Hopefully someday Mexico will get rid of the stupid and resentful politics that now governs. Congrats Argentina !!!!!!!!
I completely agree! As a Brazilian, I also hope that Brazil will overcome the corruption and populism of the current administration and become a free and prosperous country!

His description of journalism in Argentina isn't too far off from journalism in the US.
Believe me even here in Argentina the jounalist speak about donald trump as if he was satan himself, indoctrination is worldwide, they use the same rethoric when it comes to brainwashing the people here as in the US.
Canadian msm is propaganda
His critic of media is problematics. The outrage/tribalism-inducing media is mostly the product of free market capitalism around a population who are tribal and who value oversimplified argument and entertainment over proper arguments. Such media is not the product of "socialism". If people are not better educated, the media will always be a tribal and smearing sh*tshow when it is free.
To his defense, he at least seems intelligent and mostly sincere (at least better than most politicians). The zero-sum and provokative demagoguery is still a little concerning though. His critic of media is especially problematics.
They're all owned more or less by the same people so it's expected
I agree..But compare him with Trump 😂 you get the same effect
@@hanskuipers3998was about to comment the exact same thing, it’s insane how they would compare milei to Kamala when they’re not even ruling the same country!
_Kamala was trained to read from a script. Reminds me of the customer service jobs I had in the past._
_So yes, no thoughts of her own and she can only say what was pre-approved by HR._
@@hanskuipers3998 Kind of.....the big difference is Trump HAS thoughts, he CAN expand those thoughts in very long interviews. The problem with Trump is that he goes off trail on weird tangents sometimes but eventually circles back to his point. Kamla on the other hand could not put together two coherent sentences, even in friendly interviews.
@@CrazySC833 Kamala lost, get over it

It feels nice to speak multiple languages and to be able to switch back and forth between English and Spanish during this interview, capturing the original essence of this magnificent conversation.
Que bueno que sea así saludos amigo!!!
Bro what are you even talking about. Musk absolutely ruined Twitter.
@@user-gl8tv8pb8kHow exactly? 80% of employees were fired yet Twitter remains functional and has news stuff like community notes
It's not looking good for him with the austerity measures he's implemented.
41.7% of Argentinians were below the poverty line just prior to him taking office. And now it is at 53%. Insane failure thus far
@@OoLenny40oO
It's impossible turn poor 10% of the population in less than a year.
The only thing Milei did was stop the price control of the state and get rid some subsidies.
If the people was negatively affected by those measurements, that means that they already were poor.
@@OoLenny40oO now all of our savings go to pay basics necessities, as the great philosopher said: "democracy is the government of the people but the people is retarded"
I'm really ashamed that I thought Javier was a freak. Judging by Instagram. Now, listening to him, I understand what a smart person he is. Who even calls him a populist? Those leftist socialists who screwed Argentina? JAVIER, YOU ARE COOL!!!
I do.
You are cringe
Do you know what populist is? It’s someone who appeals to the masses and the general populace. You can be populist and conservative or any other flavor of politics :|
VLLC!
to be fair, I think he is kind of a populist, in the sense that he is aware how important it is to call the attention of the public and to transmit a certain image to the population.
What an extraordinary leader!!!! We need someone of his ability and determination in the west!!!! Here in Australia and the US and Europe!!!
Man, what a great Interview. I am envy about Argentina, that you have now such a great leader. Wish we would have the same here in Germany. Viva Argentina, viva la Libertad!
we certainly won the lottery with Milei. Thank you so much
I'm Argentine and voted for Milei, I am really happy and hopeful for my country for the first time in my life.
I've visited Germany and love it, it's a beautiful country with a really important cultural heritage.
Your problem is the same we had here: socialism.
we had to hit rock bottom for people to say enough and change direction.
I hope Germans decide to reclaim their national pride and no longer accept socialism. You would go back to being the powerhouse of Europe.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this interview. I learned something from listening to Lex and Javier Milei. I learned that there is more to unite us than to divide us.
