The Fujifilm X-T1 looks good...but is all form and no function? Or is it as sweet to shoot with? Watch the hands-on review here: Fujifilm X-T1 Hands-on Review
I need a street photographer camera will this be the on or should i just get the x-pro1 maybe walking around with the x-t1 will be like doing street photography with an slr what do you think ?????? digital rev or anyone please
You are about the only TH-cam reviewer I manage to watch from start to end. All the others take at least two minutes to get on the subject after which they go through stuff you already know. Keep it up.
Ive gone with XPRO 1 with the 18 & 35mm XF lenses for £900. A deal Fuji are doing in the UK. And with all the recent firmware updates makes it even more worthwhile.
Finally, a useful and good review by Kai. Most of the other reviews on this channel had more adolescent jokes than useful information. Please keep making reviews like this.
This has to be the episode with the least sexual innuendo, all we got was "balls of the mid-range DSLRs", even that doesn't qualify. You've let me down Kai.
Great camera. I hope Fuji's photo department gets to be profitable sooner than later so that we can all benefit from a long lifespan of the Fuji X family.
Just an FYI - The X-T1 and the Ex-2 will not sync with an external audio source (or other non fuji cameras). Video drifts about a frame a minute. Fuji knows of the problem but says the camera is within their spec...whatever that means. This is a big deal for video bloggers who love this camera and want to use off-camera audio recording. The ex-1 at 24 P will sync fine. Fuji may fix this in a future firmware update, but they have not yet publicly addressed the issue.
Placing the XT1, on par to X100, is a well fitted conclusion. Making a daring move to nostalgia design, but bringing back greater useability. I immediately see this, and thinking of my Maxxum 7D (Dials galore), being shrunken some, and doing feats my Maxxum couldn't fathom (back in its '2005 release). If I was looking, to go for Fuji's X-Mount, that's THE body I'd want.
So not only does the lens have its own aperture adjustment, but this camera has dedicated ISO,SS, and Exposure comp. dials on top as well as the two dials that are not free to be used for whatever you want.(I'm guessing on lenses that dont have the aperture ring one of them will be for that) still crazy good.
I was about to get the XE2 when this came out. Now I don't know which to get, I like the XE2's look better, and don't know whether the improvements on the XT1 are that significant.
Fujifilm seem to be the most relevant photographic company out there today, with another fine example, what a gorgeous camera, anyone know how much it will be in the UK?
***** Too much stock is put in lenses these days. I wasted around 8000 pounds on lenses and now I have played with enough cameras, I find that the inbuilts suit me fine on the more expensive models. :)
I've got the AG-AF101e, and just about every type of M4/3 lens I'd ever need. All I've discovered is that it's been a bit of a big waste. I deeply regret my hyperprime 0.95 as my 1.4 is almost as good, and hell, my wideangle is now my most used lens. I change lenses very rarely nowadays, inbuilts aren't awful. Though sometimes they're not great on cheaper cameras. ^^
Maybe Fuji will make a camera that has similar design to the XT-1 but higher resolution. This is a perfect camera for now. No need for a replacement anytime soon.
I attended the 2014 Exposure Photo & Video Imaging Show in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada yesterday and had a chance to play with an XT-1. First impressions? Gorgeous fit and finish and solid controls; the camera felt a lot like the 35mm SLRs of yore. The EVF was also quite usable, and has a huge field of view, a plus for eyeglass wearers like me. Oddly enough, when I first looked at the camera, the squared-off pentaprism's rounded corners made the camera look a bit reminiscent of the old and generally unloved Praktica B200 camera (I had one, and it was typical of the shoddy East German goods that were making the rounds in the 1970s and 1980s). Still, I wonder how quickly the camera cycles between shots. Slow cycle times seem to be a feature of mirrorless cameras with EVFs. The camera, as gorgeous as it is, is a bit pricy. In Canada the body alone goes for $1299, and it's an additional $999CDN for the 52mm f1.2 lens. Price aside, Fuji seems to have a winner for people with deep pockets.
I've been honestly wanting to make the switch to Mirrorless for awhile. I used to borrow my grandma's Fuji-Flim X-30 before I bought myself a DSLR. To keep it short basically I'm blind in my left eye so I'm REALLY near sighted. I can never really see through the view finder on a DSLR so I've had to teach myself how to get the results purely based on knowing my settings an hoping the AF system does its job. Is the XT-1 a steal for what it goes for used now?
I think it would be nice to see a competition between "systems", like Fuji X system vs Sony NEX system vs olympus/panasonic micro 4/3 systems shootout... best bodies/lenses from each mirrorless system...
I would love to see DRTV compare this to the x100s, Leica M9, and GX-7...I cannot decide if I want the x100s or an interchangeable lens mirrorless system.
Hi just wondering if you are planning an update now Firmware 4.0 is out as focus wise its almost a new camera, I'm considering buying this but holding off until I see a review from you guys as I know you say it as it is ... with a bit of fun frown in :) I'm mainly concerned with focus in low light bands etc, I'm not a fan of miss shots while waiting for camera to catch up on focus. keep up the good work though guys your reviews are awesome funny but to the point, honest and accurate. heck I even watch your reviews for stuff im not interesting in just for the fun factor :)
Despite my errant searching, I've yet to find a digi cam that offers what I want. A shutter button, manual focus, a shutter speed dial and an apperture dial on the lens and nothing else. The ideal solution for me has been the Leica M8, but I sold it. Derrrr . . .
That looks like a pretty impressive little performer. However, the camera with kit lens is a little spendy, which is to be expected.. I still love my old NEX-F3 that I bought on closeout for dirt cheap.
If the fuji xf 16-55mm F2.8 R OIS WR beats the Tamron 24-70 F2.8 Di VC in the image quality department, it looks like I'll have a new system for concert/music photography. Fuji's got some wicked primes, but music photography is one niche where zooming with your feet means missed shots. A fast zoom will COMPLETE this wicked awesome line-up!
Could you test the metering? Someone tested this camera and came up with a 3/4 difference on the in-camera meter compared to a pocket meter. Everyone is showing pictures at, let's say, 6400 ISO, but in reality, it's equivalent to other cameras at 3/4 stop lower ISO. I really like this camera and would love to know. Thanks.
Try shooting with off camra flashes, using the EVF in a dark area.....with settings to 1/200, f/8 and iso 100......and then try to find your subject.....
What? a small, robust, sexy, retro-looking camera with the right controls handy? I'm buying this now! Kai, I wish you had talked about the kit lens and other primes available though. ..... wait double exposure mode? buying 2
i would like pick canon 6d, but i think the fujifilm x-t1 is also a great camera, which one do you prefer? i would like to use it on wedding photography and other else.. thank you :)
Well, Fuji certainly has better glass options in their lineup, fast and sharp and excellent build quality, so much that it was THE deciding factor for me. Other thing to consider is ergonomics, but that is personal to every individual so you can't answer that online, you have to try.
00:25 " . . . kind of like the Contax RTS"?? Whoa, mate! A (remarkably apt) blast from the past! Too bad Contax proved incapable of making the transition from film to digital.
A55tech I don't remember where, but I read an article that said that when you shoot video in some cameras (dslr's I belive) you get less noise with iso 160 multiples, but, I don't think it's the same with images, Idk I could be wrong. P.S. Sorry if I just wrote something wrong, I am not used to write in english so...
Battery good for 300ish shots --is that RAW? How many JPEGs would you get out of that? Are there any external battery solutions? Also how loud is the shutter? E.g. compared to Canon 6D in loud mode...
So, I hear it's wi-fi ready. Why on earth doesn't it come with a "Will sync photos to my computer as soon as it detects connects to my home network". Why force me to still connect it to my computer with a cable?
***** The autofocus is very accurate and is amazingly good in low light. Its also blazingly fast. If you turn of power saving mode you can get it stupidly quick (I don't need it this quick, normal is quick enough). Also, continuous focus will get about 80 per cent of the shots at high speed.
Hello and thanks for the review. I have just one doubt about shooting when i have my eyes on the EVF. I know aperture dials are on lens and shutter on body buy seems to be difficult to move them looking thru the viewfinder. Do you know if i can move them using the front and back dials and have this info on the evf instead of using the two hand way of moving them thru body and lens? I hope i a have been clear with my question. Thanks in advance for your help!
Hello, looking at the x-t1 vs Lumix GX8. Any video on the comparison of these two?? :D Looking for something smaller to carry around to take photos of my boys. Something close to my Canon 5D MK3. Dreaming right?
It does have video and he mentions it, though very briefly. Often, these reviews are done by people who much prefer still images to video so they don't talk much about the video. Often, but not always.
Jocelyn Figueroa I don't shoot much video and what I do shoot is with a little point-and-shoot, but I think many SLRs have fairly sophisticated video capabilities. Click around on some review sights and you might get a detailed review of them. DPreview is a good site and on "page 11" has lots of details about this camera's video.
From all the reviews of the X-T1 I've read and seen so far the video mode is rather bad. The actual video clips seemed to indicate that as well. Video isn't Fuji's strong side, unfortunately. Kinda like Olympus.
good review, brilliant camera, but i don't need this currently, cause i got xpro1 and use it for more than one and half years, maybe i will replace it when they come up with a full frame fuji haha
If you could only have one fuji XF lense, which one would you pick? I can only afford one and im thinking about the 18-55. I want to do street photography and close ups and macro, so I want to be able to put a macro conversion on it.
You'd have to do some prioritizing, of what you want out of the lens, AND the image perspective that works with your intentions. Zooms are normally NOT a good route for close up / false-macro stuff. If your pushing for street photography, it would be safer to look into the wider angles (say the 14mm or 16mm), or the standard (23mm) prime. The 16mm, from what I understand, has the best magnification bump, when applying the taller Fujifilm Macro-extension (still have AF and such). One zoom option, to compile such a wide angle range, is the 10-24. No means to knock the 18-55, as it remains of THE best standard zooms created ".". Glass is WORTH it, and Evil Bay can be your friend, if you watch it closely enough. Do your weeding away, and best of luck
Kai looking and strolling more like Alan Whicker with every video. As for the X-T1, had I not recently bought an X-E2 I would have been convinced by the viewfinder (it even looks good in this review). But the X-T1 is bigger and, while it's still much lighter than my SLR, that size difference makes it a little less carry-everywhere-able.
The Fujifilm X-T1 looks good...but is all form and no function? Or is it as sweet to shoot with? Watch the hands-on review here: Fujifilm X-T1 Hands-on Review
Hey ***** does this make the wait seem longer? Looks like you're going to have yourself a great camera when it arrives.
Is the switch from X-Pro1 to this worth it?
I need a street photographer camera will this be the on or should i just get the x-pro1 maybe walking around with the x-t1 will be like doing street photography with an slr what do you think ?????? digital rev or anyone please
Christopher Falconer I already reserved the X-T1 specifically for my primary Street shooter.
REP96st what lens
You are about the only TH-cam reviewer I manage to watch from start to end.

"Look Nikon, the dials are actually nice to use." Gets me everytime!
you watched it more than once? Or it got you ... that one time?
Uncaged savagely pragmatic!
hhhhhhhhhhhhh lol
Fast forward to 2019, Nikon Z50 have multiple programable dials.
wow, Kai, usually very critical and cynical, is quite generous with his praise for this camera. Love his presenting style as usual!
is this going to be another toy for you? :P
Ive gone with XPRO 1 with the 18 & 35mm XF lenses for £900. A deal Fuji are doing in the UK. And with all the recent firmware updates makes it even more worthwhile.
This is the best video that was educational and watchable that they've released all year. I hope they stay serious and focused like this.

Great camera. I hope Fuji's photo department gets to be profitable sooner than later so that we can all benefit from a long lifespan of the Fuji X family.
And today, they are killing it with the GFX 100.

lmfao
I have one and assisted in shooting a wedding last week. fitted with Leica summilux 75mm 1.4 full manual mode. fun camera.
Do a X-T1 vs Sony A7?
Love the spray test on the weather seal. Great timing!
Looks like a Fuji has a pretty cool camera in the X-T1. Great Review as always Kai
My favorite channel ever.
I was about to get the XE2 when this came out. Now I don't know which to get, I like the XE2's look better, and don't know whether the improvements on the XT1 are that significant.
What did you get
Kudos for the Contax reference! My thoughts exactly when I first saw the X-T1.
Fujifilm seem to be the most relevant photographic company out there today, with another fine example, what a gorgeous camera, anyone know how much it will be in the UK?
Now it costs £250 lol
Hey DigitalRev TV Can you guys do a video on the best value for money camera that shoots at 120fps+ at 1080p?
Panasonic...
But that panasonic one that I know that shoots 120 fps doesnt have an interhcnageable lens so you're stuck with what they give you...
***** Too much stock is put in lenses these days. I wasted around 8000 pounds on lenses and now I have played with enough cameras, I find that the inbuilts suit me fine on the more expensive models. :)
WalrusFilmTech Really? haha I wouldn't live without the ability to change lenses for different situaitons and types of film xD

The Xt1 is one of the finest engineered cameras ever..... I own it, and love it.... with the 56, its beautiful.....
The info in the viewfinder changing when you switch to portrait is awesome.
Thanks for the hands-on, always entertaining! Would love a Pentax K-3 hands-on next
Guys, please review the X-t2
not everyone can afford an x-t2 js
Maybe Fuji will make a camera that has similar design to the XT-1 but higher resolution. This is a perfect camera for now. No need for a replacement anytime soon.
16mp is enough for me
I am pretty sure Fuji wont be updating their sensors just yet
Gfx 100!!! Much higher res and similar design lol
What lens and camera did you use to record this video?
I think Lok normally uses a Canon 5D mark III w/ a 24-105 f4.. but i could be wrong on the lens.
not many pictures with 56mm? I waited until the end for that in hope :-(
Good review Kai !! for such a great camera !
sony a6000 review! and a6000 vs XT-1 focus comparison test!
The people who dislike these videos... Have to be horrible people. Every video is impressively well written and fun to watch!

Good review. Awesome camera. Considering eBaying my X-E1 to purchase the X-T1....!
Impressive. Looks like a win for Fujifilm.
the 8fps with continuous af tracking is not important? are you sure about that kai..
Despite my errant searching, I've yet to find a digi cam that offers what I want. A shutter button, manual focus, a shutter speed dial and an apperture dial on the lens and nothing else.
The ideal solution for me has been the Leica M8, but I sold it. Derrrr . . .

Can it be much detail next time ? Seems not enough
love the videos keep them coming
Would love an A7 vs Fujifilm Xt-1 video! Can't decide between the two!

Is the XT1 still worth with 300$ in 2019
Yes. Currently I have it, buy used for around 300$. Still performs very well.
Almost a different camera now with all the firmware updates!
xt3 is way better
Completely and still is in 2021.
Lol people are still using XT1 in 2023. It's amazing
great video as always digitalrev I want one now :)
Nice camera. good review. Would you buy it?

Please review the 56mm 1.2. Was it good Kai?
That's one handsome camera. More and more it's looking like Fujifilm is pulling ahead of the pack into first place.
Looks excellent! I think I'll start saving up for this baby :)
Nikon D3300 is out, it would be interesting to see what's new
That view finder looks pretty cool
Try shooting with off camra flashes, using the EVF in a dark area.....with settings to 1/200, f/8 and iso 100......and then try to find your subject.....

Really nice review! how do you compare the Fuji X-T1 and the sony a7?which one do you think better??
Well, Fuji certainly has better glass options in their lineup, fast and sharp and excellent build quality, so much that it was THE deciding factor for me. Other thing to consider is ergonomics, but that is personal to every individual so you can't answer that online, you have to try.
FUJIFILM XT1 2021 Good!!!
kai simply love this camera!!!

" . . . kind of like the Contax RTS"??
Whoa, mate! A (remarkably apt) blast from the past!
Too bad Contax proved incapable of making the transition from film to digital.
why did ISO 25600 look better than ISO 12800?
A55tech I don't remember where, but I read an article that said that when you shoot video in some cameras (dslr's I belive) you get less noise with iso 160 multiples, but, I don't think it's the same with images, Idk I could be wrong.
P.S. Sorry if I just wrote something wrong, I am not used to write in english so...
It's a firmware thing
The noise reduction is more harsh on 25600 but the quality goes to shit
Battery good for 300ish shots --is that RAW? How many JPEGs would you get out of that? Are there any external battery solutions?
Also how loud is the shutter? E.g. compared to Canon 6D in loud mode...
So, I hear it's wi-fi ready. Why on earth doesn't it come with a "Will sync photos to my computer as soon as it detects connects to my home network". Why force me to still connect it to my computer with a cable?
Hi Guys,
Please do a review on the X-T2.
There are plenty out there, where is yours?
Thank in advance.
Your videos are the best !!!!!
Sorta like a DF, but actually well made and well thought out. Review of that 56 1.2 lens next?

This is Fuji that I want to buy with my own money!!
Hey, will you be able to do a review on Fuji xe-2 compare to a x-t1
XT-1 vs EM-1 vs Df (or other retro camera) please
Please EM-2
" Plasticky, Unfantastic-y. " LOOOL
Still, I love x100s or X-E2 more than X-T1. I think the body shape is too intimidating for street shooter.
Just bought one. Feel free to ask me any questions with it (Ive taken about 4000 shots already)
Xt1 or xpro1 on discount?
xt1
Is the AF accurate, I have the X-A1 and I'm looking to upgrade.

Nice, thanks for the info. Will definitely be getting one this year.
Hello and thanks for the review. I have just one doubt about shooting when i have my eyes on the EVF. Do you know if i can move them using the front and back dials and have this info on the evf instead of using the two hand way of moving them thru body and lens? perhaps it's me but the video is for the Canon EOS RP but the title says Fuji X-T1
Hello, looking at the x-t1 vs Lumix GX8. Any video on the comparison of these two?? :D Looking for something smaller to carry around to take photos of my boys. Something close to my Canon 5D MK3. Dreaming right?
Hey Digital Rev, would love to hear your review for the x100t. When will you release it?
Are all fujifilm cameras just for pictures or do they also have video?
It does have video and he mentions it, though very briefly. Often, these reviews are done by people who much prefer still images to video so they don't talk much about the video. Often, but not always.
Oh ok thank you! I'm guessing the video option isn't as great as the picture options? :) Thanks for the reply!

I own an xe2, i'm wondering whether should I upgrade to this one. is the focal speed 0.05 really fast then the 0.08
Another great looking camera I'll never be able to afford :(
MynameisMattRice now you can! Haha still great camera!

How does the X-T1 compare in lowlight versus Samsung's NX1?
Should I get this or pana gx-7? I heard this doesnt have aa filter which has sharper images. But does this have in body stabilizer?
They claimed to be the fastest but the new A6000 is out now and please do a review.
If you could only have one fuji XF lense, which one would you pick? I can only afford one and im thinking about the 18-55.

Only one lens? The XF16-55, mate. Pricey, but worth it.
what happened to every Wednesday and Saturday?
Kai please review the new Sony's α6000 then have Sony's α6000 vs. X-T1 on auto focus. Both claimed to have the world fastest Auto-Focus. Who will win?
Good quick review, although not very in depth, this show is amazingly quirky-funny. Almost like a Top Gear video reviews for cameras.
Great Video :) Love your way of presenting!! Greetz from Germany :)
I like that camera, I'm impressed by Fuji.
You are in denial, aren't you..? :-p (I'm only joking)
Just a little. But I really do have too many cameras, so that makes it easier.
At the very end of the video he says: It's a winning combination of top taste and what performance? Decent?
"pleasing performance". pleasing = satisfying.
Pleeeeeeasing! Alright, thanks!
