    A few weeks ago I watched your X-T1 + 16mm F2.8 video.
I immediately ordered both the camera and the lens. After watching this I might have to buy a backup X-T1. Just in case!
Your pictures from this camera are superb. You and the X-T1 were meant for each other; a marriage made in camera heaven.
Your affection for the X-T1 is infectious. Thank goodness you’re not into Leicas, because I’d never be able to afford to watch your videos.

Just bought one back in January for €300 and am having a blast with it. All the dials being available makes you way more likely to experiment. Even the grain when shooting with a high ISO and/or cropping in looks quite stylised and pleasant.

Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I've been shooting film for almost 3 years then started working at a camera store and began considering a jump into the digital age. I just bought a used XT1 that we've had for ages and something about it just feels right. Most of my coworkers were trying to convince me to get other things, but one of the guys lent me his XT1 and the more I played with it, the more I loved it. This is my first digital in 15 years and it feels like the perfect camera to jump back in with.

I literally just picked up an X-T1 in Sept of 2022, for basically nothing. It came with the 10-24mm lens that I really wanted. After having it for a few days, I was in love with it! My Fuji journey has been: X70 > X-T20 > X-T2 > X-T3. I replaced the X70 with the X-T20, then after using the X-T2 for bird photography, moved on to the X-T3 and sold the X-T2. Never did I think I would go "backwards" to the X-T1, but for walking around and shooting, I absolutely love it! And it's so small! The same size as my X-T20 with minimal grip. I'll never sell this little gem!

I’m with you on this one, my Xt-1 was my first foray into the Fuji x series. I also bought a second hand, like new, xt-2 last year following the ditching of the weighty full frame Nikon gear. They are fantastic cameras and a joy to use. My xt-1 reminded me so much of the Yashica SLR film camera I started off with in the early 1980s; so I’ve gone full circle!

@Juan Ignacio Caino I use back-button focusing on the XH1 because of the soft shutter release. Now, I do like my XH1 as well don't get me wrong, but it's a big piece of kit to lug around town all day long when you're doing some street shooting or urban photography. I tend to use it for landscape work or the little bit of commercial work I get from time to time.

I totally agree about the better image quality of the x trans 2 sensor. It still produces the cinematic look like the xtrans 1 sensor had. In these days lot 's of people raved about Fujifilm 's cinematic look of it 's JPEG's. Fuji even advertised this cinematic look. With the x trans 3 sensor that cinematic look disapeared. The black tones with the xt 2 are more pronounced than with the xt 1, giving the overal picture are darker , less vibrant look.
Today no one talks about the cinematic atmosphere of Fujifilm anymore, because it 's gone...

I bought a 2nd hand XT1 couple years ago, it was in "as good as new" condition. Since then that camera is my all around gear. I use it more than my nikon d750, even when I work documenting events (weddings and music festivals) the Fuji XT1 is my second camera and I love of it works in low light conditions when I haven't had a flash. The tones and colours are without doubt amazing and love that always I get that film look with each photo. I have just one XF lens (18-55mm 2.8-4) and use an adapter for old canon lenses and it is superb. Do not regret a thing the money I have spent in this camera.

  • @baxtermarrison5361

I still use my X-T1 in conjunction with my X-H1 cameras. I find the straight out of camera JPEGs, using the in-camera profiles, are outstanding. I shoot RAW+JPEG, but the number of times I have delivered the out of camera JPEG is more frequent than I wish to admit.
I think the larger photosites on the 16mp sensor over the 24mp, gives you an image fidelity in black and white that you just cannot recreate with the newer bodies.
The single card slot is a worry, but I still reach for this over my X-H1 more often than not.

Since the day I started using X-T1 it blew my mind all the way, such a small camera can do wonders out there, the quality of the pictures is outstanding. It's 5 years old now and still giving tough competition to the other systems. I love this one more than the cameras I have used. The only thing which bothers me a little is that fuji should make the new film simulations for their old systems to. Having so much of limitations if Ritchie Roesch can create all those film recipes in camera then I think fuji can make it too with all the resources that they have.

Another benefit of the way the shutter dial lock button works on the X-T1 is that you can spin your shutter speed back to Auto without looking and it locks into place. Also, the exposure compensation dial doesn’t rotate infinitely so you can count the clicks to know where it’s set. With these two features, you can always set your X-T1 purely by feel (in combo with the physical aperture ring).

Yes! I MISS this about the X-T1! However, I do NOT miss that fiddly ISO button at all as KMan does. :-) I loved the X-T1, wouldn't mind having another, but no way I could ever go to not having the option to shoot vertically at an angle as I can on the X-T2...plus I"m a video shooter so I felt it sensible to work up the chain. Looking at trading up to X-T3 but as KMan mentioned, the incremental size differences concern me a little. Peace.

Personally I never like the files from the X-T2, I think this 24 MP sensor was the worst of the X series cameras, I find the T3 much better than the T2 as fare as colour science and file quality.

The X-T2 and X-Pro2 were the first Fuji bodys where people started to get interested in Fuji at all! Till than Fuji was almost unknown to everbody. I come from film background as a confirmed Canon user. My first serious dip into digital was with a Fuji s5pro, it's still a fantastic camera, old, slow and only 12mp... but that sensor.. wow. It's just the same with the x-t1, the 16mp x-trans sensor is something very special, I have an x-t2 but the 'one' is still my first choice. I also bought an x-e2s for street work and recently tried the x-e3 but the 16mp sensor wins again. Love to see someone talking about xt1 in 2020. I have owned one for 4 + years and never intend to sell and never felt need to upgrade to xt2/3/4. I have also owned Nikon D5 also and now sold it. Yes it was superior to some respect but not practical and fun to use unless you are a professional sports photographer.

I have a Canon 5D Mk II (bought new), a Nikon D800 (used, bought for peanuts, online), and a Fuji X-T1 - bought used, from a camera shop, in February this year. Each has its place, but I really do share your enthusiasm for the Fuji. It feels right, and produces some really great images.

I tried to sell my Fujis (XT1 & XT2) but could not bring myself to do it for exactly all of the reasons you site in your video. I put a TTartisan 35mm on these and it just hits a sweet spot for me. I can see from the responses to your video that I am not alone in this. Like your images BTW...

I have been shooting with an X-Pro3 and X100V since they both released, but recently I picked up an old X-T10 with the X-trans 2 sensor to give them a break so to say and love the images it produces. The buffer does fill up fast in burst, but I have learned to just deal with it.

I like to confirm this in every point! Enthusiastically from Fuji I bought my son an XT1. So we also can share lenses. Sometimes I snap it away from him and have so much fun with it☺️ In deed I prefer it to my XT2. And even XT3 which I will sell again. The image quality is special and in my opinion outstanding! In addition to my Leicas the best camera for my purposes. Get one and keep it👍🏻😉

Never clicked on a video quicker than this in my life! People think I'm crazy sometimes too when I tells them this. My X-T1 is without QUESTION my favorite camera of all time. Not the X-T2, X-T3, X-H1, D810, Z6, etc etc etc. I really like my other cameras and still use the Z6 as a main body...but nothing, nothing makes me happy like the X-T1 does.
It's the perfect camera for me. I typically have either my 35mm f/2.0 or a 25mm f/1.8 attached to it. Sometimes I'll grab the Canon 10-18mm STM and Fringer adapter out and have some ultrawide fun.
Also like you (just) said, the rubber material is so, much, nicer to the touch than the others.
I also prefer how the shutter dial, lmao you keep saying what I'm typing lol...I prefer the shutter dial on the X-T1. Unlocked once you get past the first click, and then locking again if you go all the way back around.
They camera is just better lol.
It is only 'missing' the 3rd axis on the screen (but so is my Z6), and it'd be cool if it had the joystick from my other X bodies when I had them (sold them all)...but none of those things stop my love of the X-T1. This camera will be with me forever. If it dies, I'll cry, while I'm ordering another pair online to immediately replace it.
I haven't it in monochrome 99% of the time, but I can shoot it in any profile or simulation (except Velvia which I've never really got along with on any camera haha).
Long love the X-T1. All hail. 😍📸

I have xt2 and xt3 but the camera I grab going out the door is my xt-1 ,I use it for night skyes because it has bigger photosites {pixels} that fit on a crop sensor where the xt2 and 3 have to make them smaller and cram them in with 24 and 26 meg pics that how it was explained by a tech at Fujifilm Australia . My XT-1 is slower ,takes a while to auto focus and has other quirks so I understand what your saying...

  • @hubey
    @hubey 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Beautiful beautiful photos! I'd love to see a renaissance in low MP high quality sensors, colours and tones are so much nicer. Your video helps support that notion!
At 9:21 photo, couple walking along the beach with sunset clouds above. Which lens took that? I'm guessing your 16 f2.8 as you pictured it a lot, but would love to double check thank you :-)
    I'm considering a 16mm and the f2.8 gives the f1.4 a run for it's money! Especially as you've illustrated.
Wouldn't say no if Fuji came out with a f2 Middle ground, as the f1.4 looks rather heavy...

Many photographers swear by the older Fuji sensors. X-Pro1 for example. (X-Trans I) Might be something to that. Perhaps Fuji needed to make some image sacrifices to increase the megapixel count. I have an X100T, same sensor as the X-T1. And although I have more recent Fujis, as well there is just something extra about those images on the X100T.

  • @Nathansmithphotography

My first Fuji camera was the XT1 and I got amazing images out of it. But the one thing that drove me nuts was moving the focus cursor around. To get from the center to a focus point with the “rule of thirds” requires you to make two moves for every diagonal movement. Personally, I found the joystick on the XT2 to be game changing and I still shoot professionally with two of these even though I just recently also bought the XH2. It also has 50% more megapixels, the vertical tilt screen, that locking and unlocking knobs on the ISO and shutter dials is easier, a better viewfinder, and faster focusing. Maybe I’m missing something but I really didn’t see a big difference in image quality between the XT1 and 2, but I’m happy that you do. But I also have an Xpro2 and my wife has an X100 F, and it’s nice having three different cameras all with the same image sensor for post processing. The new XH2 has an amazingly, sharp viewfinder, and I’m enjoying the 40 megapixels, but the older cameras I still use and won’t sell.

Couldn’t agree more! The XPro1 got me into Fuji and I love it to this day when I can work slow. The XT1 was the one that made me switch from Canon, Regret selling the XT1 for the XT2 which was the camera that made me switch back to Canon in the end, I hated that camera so much! Looking over old work recently I may well get another XT1! Fuji’s old 16mp in natural light are amazing, I often shoot both XPro1 and Canon 5D MKIV when out on location and 9 times out of 10 use the XPro1 files over the Canon. My main workhorse will remain the 5D, especially for studio but the old Fujis will still serve me well for pro and personal work for years to come.

Acros is pretty much just adding contrast and grain. As far as I can tell anyway. You can probably adjust for those same effects. Or at least the contrast. You could always add some grain in post. The newer Fuji models have a 'grain option' in camera. I'm not sure if the X-T1 does. My X-T2 has it.
