Excuse me if you have already but the switch version is heavily downgraded towards the pc or Series X version.
I would highly, highly, highly recommend you try it on a home console if not pc!
This is one of those games that high end graphics enhance extremely well. There's times on my current pc playthrough where I forget I'm playing a game and just get lost in the beauty.
Definitely one of the best survival games of all time

Hey guys, this is a wonderful list(and hoodie) to come back to with a few bangers ive played myself. Everspace satisfied my space explorer fantasy until No Man's Sky, however i found myself going back to it a few months ago. I agree that the story's presentation is a major reason i was pulled back in, and i crave that NMS gets the same treatment from hello games.
I played R.O.R 2 prior to the first one but was immediately enamored with it's sense of "wondrous isolation" in the locales, it's choice of variety in combat and it's ear blisteringly beautiful soundtrack in solo for a while. Purchased it afterwards for the lady and we've had a blast ever since. I wouldn't compare it to anything, however i will say that i love it because it hits a particular node of multiplayer joy that i had not felt since my Lost Planet 2 days. Went back to the first and it doesn't feel like a "lesser" game, just different lenses. Highly recommend!

Thanks for the note about the control layout on Everspace, btw; I picked it up quite a while back now, but the controls were just... so incredibly awkward. I'll have to try the other layout. What a great list! I think of No Man’s Sky as the space version of Subnautica - both very addictive in their exploration (I recently started No Man’s Sky and it is amazing so far). I find the deep ocean overwhelming/scary so Subnautica would be a bit of a horror game for me 😅.

So many great games on here! One that I find addictive that's often overlooked is the cheesy sounding "Jumping Joe & Friends." It's one of those endless jumper games that were so popular a few years back, but it's really well done and *insanely* hard to put down. For me, it's the perfect "loading game" to play when deciding which bigger game I want to play next. I always pick it up thinking I'll just do a couple runs, and an hour later I'm still playing, haha.

seeing the battles in Everspace reminded me that No Man's Sky has galactic combat (sometimes sucky *literal* endless AI combat that I have to previous-autosave out of) but it's very rewarding when it works. That game's on sale rn :)

the Switch has become the Strategy / Sim game system to me now. Probably because I started with Fire Emblem Three Houses.

Love the look of Railgrade, Bear and Breakfast, and maybe two point hospital ( except the art style ).

Civilization is my most addictive franchise, as in ive probably spent more time on that than every other game ive played in my life put together, lol. Much speedier and shorter, but ever repeatable for multiplayer couch fun would be Party Golf. I'm probably gonna get bear and breakfast soon

I recently finished Everspace and had a thoroughly good time, I put over 120 hours into it all told (multiple play throughs were required for the ‘true’ and final ending. It’s definitely worth changing the control scheme as Mark suggests, it makes zipping the ship around a breeze. My only complaint (other than the repetitive nature of a rogue lite) is the performance - it’s ok-ish for the most part, kind of fuzzy, but the frame rate can really tank when there’s a lot going on to the point of it becoming almost unplayable. This doesn’t happen too often though, so it’s still a recommend from me!

I’m playing Darkest Dungeon as I never finished it. It’s tough and the RNG is pretty bad, but it’s one of the few games that make me feel the stresses and victories experienced in each run. Love when the stress reaches 100 and you cross your fingers, hoping that become virtuous. Even if they do die, they did so with fire in their belly and gave a middle finger to the eldritch creatures that have plagued the land

Spiritfarer is one game I just couldn't put down until I finished it! Same with Abzû, Figment and Embracelet. I guess it's not quite the same as I don't keep coming back to those games, but while I play them I simply have to carry on just a little bit more each time to find out what happens. I guess I'm a sucker for narratives more than for gameplay.
