      @SwitchUp you NEED to play Risk of Rain 2! I love the original but 2 is better in almost every way! It maintains the frantic pace, dozens of enemies, myriad of attacks and perks and secrets but also improves with stores\bonus levels, having separate money pools in mp, up to 4 players and you can go anywhere on the map since it's onine multiplayer. It's just phenomenal
      I'll send you a copy for pc if you pm me. It's one of the games I've given away most in my FB community I run

      I saw a streamer playing Winkeltje the day it released on Steam. It looked fun and wasn't very expensive so I bought it. I got so badly hooked on it that I could barely manage my job. I sat down with it when I got home from work and what felt like five minutes later it was 5 am and I had to go to work in a cpl of hours. I see it is out on switch now. It is basically running a shop and making enough money to pay your mortgage and saving up to expand the store and the stock. There's no fancy graphics or complicated, hard to understand gameplay, just plan what you need to have in stock the next day depending on seasons and events and the current price levels. The number of items you can have in stock is limited so there is an element of tactics when choosing what to have in stock. But it is simple and the days are short so you say to yourself, just one more day then I'll stop.

      My current addiction is Kitaria Fables.
      Sold my DS got a switch and chose it over animal crossing.
      Where as with AC it was just debt the game where you embody a newly elected mayor do hat a mayor should do a spending the entire town improvement budget on making his house bigger with KF i find myself actually having fun doing "one more thing" always results in a good reward spells, sword up grade, bow upgrade and the farming is as little or as large as you want top that off with a little action/adventure it just feels more like a game if that makes sense.
      And as a furry I get as much soft fluffy boy and girl NPCS as I want.

    I absolutely LOVE the Mudrunner game (haven't made it around to getting Snowrunner yet). It's difficult to explain how just driving around, hauling stuff, getting stuck and trying to get unstuck can be so addictive but it just is. Darkest Dungeon is my other truly addictive game because there are just so many ways to keep playing with the dungeons and so many classes of characters to take with you.

    Borderlands 2 is the most addictive game I’ve ever played. There is literally a thousand + hours of gameplay when you want to beat the game in all 3 Valut Hunter modes with each character. Each character is totally different from each other and has a completely different skill tree which is insanely addictive for a first person shooter game lol. After i beat the game on UVHM with Commander , I started a new game with Gunzerker and it is a lot easier this time around right from the get go because of the bonus points you have from achieving things in the game, for example i started teh game with a +13% critical hit damage and a +12% gun accuracy. You can disable all them if you want but i find that defeats the whole point of earning them to use as your advantage in the first place. Super Mario Odessey is pretty addictive to, trying to collect all 1000 power moons through all the amazing open world 3D levels is probably the best game experience on the switch so far.

Mining materials to build up your base, tooling around in your tractor, Speccing out your shuttle the best you can to go to another planet to build another base. I also tend to pick up and play Shoot em’ up games, like Shikhondo Soul eater & Astebreed to name a few that I actively go back to for score chasing, even though I suck at the overall arcade Shump genre.

    An addictive game I keep going back to, and then cannot stop playing, is Forager. I'm not even sure how to describe it. You gather resources, craft items and kill monsters. There are unlockable land tiles and some contain puzzles. There's a huge skill tree to unlock. You complete small tasks so rapidly that it makes you want to keep going. It's a lot of fun and can be played in short bursts which makes it perfect for switch.

    An addictive game for me is one that actively occupies my thoughts and drags me back to it. Monster Hunter Rise and Stories 2 definitely occupy that list. Constantly crafting new gear or hunting for monsties with rare genes. Also farming games, constantly planning your farm is fun and immersion inducing. Damn I wish I could love MHS 2 like you do.
      The repetitive story pattern bored me to hell, the environments, although colourful, were completely devoid of unique or interesting landmarks, it’s basically Pokemon Arceus’s issue… tree, rock, repeat. No reason to explore, besides the randomly generated caves.
      And of course the performance. Plain sucks.
      The WORST though. The camera!! What the heck were they smoking! They mapped the camera control to digital input.. meaning you can’t actually control the acceleration or speed, it will rotate at the same speed now matter how far you push the sticks. It’s downright criminally incompetent lol.
      There’s just too many of these nagging issues, to the point, it totally killed my will to continue.

    • @ChadOfStats
      @ChadOfStats 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@flyingplantwhale545 I definitely do see your points. The story wasn't the most engrossing. But I was interested enough to see it to the end.
      The colourful map helped me ignore how bland it was. Especially the dens. I found reason to explore because I loved collecting the monsters. Hoping to find new genes to make more fun and powerful monsters. That and i loved crafting.
      The performance was a big issue for me. It made me decide to get it on pc to avoid it. It still kept the bad pop in though. Although part of me regrets that because it is hard for me to play multiplayer on pc. Just not alot going on there.
      I eventually just got used to the camera control. Nothing to do there.
      My personal biggest gripe is that they removed the ability to change a monsters element. It would change their colour and kinship attack. Added a nice layer of personalization.
      However despite that and the nagging issues I really enjoyed the game. Going through my second playthrough of it in fact. The combat is great and I loved the art style. I just thought that what it did well I really enjoyed, it made the negatives more tolerable. And that's why I can say that despite that I definitely still love it.
      But I can understand where you are coming from. Everyone has different views and if I found the issues tolerable. Another person might not.
      Still thank you for giving it a try. Keep gaming my friend!

    • @flyingplantwhale545
      @flyingplantwhale545 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChadOfStats Yeah I honestly wished I would like the game more than I did. Like you, I can absolutely see others loving it.
      It could also be that I’ve become less patient and tolerant of certain issues and tropes. Also gave up on Bravely Default 2 in a similar way.. the moment the story formula of hopping between towns and dealing with one-dimensional characters, it was over for me.
      That said, there’s more than plenty of RPGs on Switch I’ve had an absolute blast with. Dragon Quest 11, though quite traditional in its gameplay had the loveliest characters, an amazingly detailed and crafted world, and an overall great technical presentation. Pretty much all Xenoblade games too, and Shin Megami Tensei V. They all either execute the main elements beautifully or defy expectations altogether with storytelling.

    Not sure whether you mentioned it but Enter the gungeon is the epitome of the addictive game. 200+ hours in it and I'm still far from 100%. A challenging learning curve with the randomness of a lucky run makes it the perfect roguelite. Packed with secrets, crazy weapons, hidden levels, side quests, bosses, creepy moments and obscure game mechanics it is deeper that it looks.

      @@Anni_ka Erm, I don't feel like it's hugely more difficult. You can rotate the puzzle using the stylus and the same principles apply you just have a third row to think about. Also, they start off nice and easy so you have plenty of time to get used to the 3D.

      Picross is amazing. Also, since I saw 3D picross mentioned, there is a game called "Voxelgram" on Switch that's similar. It's not perfect or as well-executed as 3D picross (fair warning, it does crash once in awhile), but for lack of other similar games on Switch it scratches the same itch if you really enjoy the 3D aspect. I’ve been playing a lot of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on my switch and I always found Action RPGs (Neir Automata, The Witcher 3, Marvel’s Spider Man, LOZ BOTW, God of War 4, DBZ Kakarot, Batman Arkham series) to be really addictive because my first action game was Devil May Cry 1 on PS2, so when I didn’t do well in a mission then play the mission again to get a better rank and experiment with chaining different combo strings and learn my opponent’s moves to see where I went wrong. I finally got into RPGs with SMT V and the Dragon Quest Builders 2 jumbo demo which are now my favorite (I’m also keeping a eye on trials of mana and FF XII the zodiac age in another square enix sale like the one that was a week ago on the Eshop.
    Terraria, however, was the only survival like game, unlike minecraft, that had playing for HOURS on a old samsung phone that I owned when I was still in elementary school.(the screen was about half the size of the iphone 13 max) I almost beat the final boss in that game, the wall of flesh thing
    Anyway, that was bit of a long comment, but I honestly do have a long history with arpgs and especially action games like DMC and GOW. Great video too and it helped me reflect on my favorite genre of games
