They weren't known very well here in America back then because their manager would not allow them to tour in America. I loved the Sweet. Steve was my favorite.
That's right Steve...we haven't got a clue what to do without SWEET. The magic 4, all good looking and talented, and Oh...what a front man/singer: " Brian"....the best, gorgeous with the most awesome voice in the world! 🤩😍
Steve is absolutely right here - That "Glam" tag sticked relentlessly on them, even when they were recording Hard Rock albums such as "Give Us A Wink" or even later when they went all prog with "Level Headed" & "Cut Above The Rest" So hilarious...
Thanks for posting the interview with the late great Steve Priest. He was truly a legend and from this interview, definitely an interesting person who lived through so much and contributed so much to music. Steve is deeply missed yet fondly remembered.
Likewise. I lived in Wolverhampton at the time, and should have been loyal to the members of my local band, Slade, but Steve and Sweet always had the edge for me over Dave and his crew.....
Steve definitely had the voice for “California Nights.” He brought in the combination of easy, breezy, yet yearning in his voice. When I first heard the song, I didn’t know about him relocating to California but I remember the convincingness-“I’m here to stay.” I thought, “Yeah, someone is moving” and then I learned that it was Steve. To me, it shows Sweet’s songwriting skills and Steve’s ability as a lead singer. And let’s not forget that he was a damned great bassist. He is deeply missed yet fondly remembered. Rest in power, Steve.
Sweet, having listened to their albums were not Glam Rock (ok for the general public they had long hair and the make up as Steve admitted) but they were contracted to play what the managers wrote. Listen to their self-penned stuff those guy's could ROCK.
A question to the uploader: Is it too late to increase the volume of the interviewer? We can’t hear anything that is being said or asked by the interviewer!
I vaguely recall from the time that Sweet wanted to ditch the glam thing and emulate Status Quo. They also started writing their own songs with limited success.

Sadly missed Steve priest 🤘❤️👍
Best band ever...still after all these years....

Steve looked like Malcom back in the days of Fox on the Run. if he was doing guyliner then perfect....they all had great voices!!
Time can be so cruel
Masterclass
Unfortunately the questions are not loud enough.
Would it kill you to use a second Mike for the interviewer?
Dog barking is si warning and trying to protect Steve♥️
Can’t hear the interviewer
No I can't hear him to
Given that glam was an image not a sound.. Sweet must be the definition of glam??

No idea what questions he is asking cannot hear a word the interviewer is saying.
This couldn't have been a year ago he died in 2020.
Reupload from years ago.

One liiiitle detail, and your Glam. That must have been really annoying. Kudos to them, they where a great band, even after glam.
