- I know United drew against Crystal Palace but there was a real development in how we attacked and created chances...and Joshua Zirkzee was central to why that was possible.
For me, he enables something we've wanted to see Ten Hag's teams do so much more of and I want to explain why in this video.

I'm wondering if Zirkzee should be used to replace Bruno. He's link up is very good and creates damn good chances, I reckon we should rather use him as a number 10 with Rasmus up as a striker, and Amad/Garnacho/Rashford on the wings. I think we should play Bruno when we need to use a different style of play.

Zirkzee's link up play is brilliant. It's made United look so much good and better. Honestly I think he can also be a back up to Bruno Fernandes. If United were more clinical against Palace, they could have been out of sight by the end of the first half ! 🙂

We need to sign Musiala to replace Bruno sooner or later or play Eriksen higher because even as good as bruno has been he can be eratic eager and wasteful at times where as We need someone who has ice in his veins and pretty much always plays the right pass

I think we need to rotate them all tbh. Bruno looks like he's rushing things all the time. Shot on the outside of his foot, he has more time than he thinks. Let it roll across you and strike on your right
this to be honest. the front 4 was missing balance with 1 goal outlet and 3 creators. the substitution went the opposite way of 3 goal outlets but only 1 creator. balance would be 2 creators and 2 outlets. Amad inside the box was also missing someone to pass for tap in.

zirkzee and eriksen is the reason why this style of play is working perfectly cos they keep the ball. Shid it makes bruno to keep the ball sometimes but yet wasteful regardless.

This blend of 9 and 10 has injected life into our attack. Plus with his technicality with Amad and (surprisingly for his legs) Erikson - we are looking solid.

Zirkzee seems to be improving game by game.
Looking forward to seeing how EtH integrates him with Højlund, because if he can, his link up could easily unlock Højlund in terms of goalscoring.
Also, whoever plays on winger needs to make more runs in between full back and centre back the moment Zirkzee gets ball in pocket like the examples you showed.
If that happens, Rashford and Garnacho should get lots of opportunities to score, but need to take them.
That's what United need if top 4 is to be achieved.

What we need is Zirk Bruno Rasmus and Amad on the pitch at the same time. The football will be on another level. Rashford or Garnacho as the left Forward will only increase the threat. But we need to play Bruno in the 8, Zirk in 10 and Ugarte in 6 to see our best football

It’s nice to have him as an option. With Mount coming back, it’s left for the gaffer to know the combination that works and so we can play differently. There are games you have to go with a a striker and some you’ve to play with a player that drops deep to receive the ball. In the end it lies with the coach and what he wants to do.
Mount was bought as 8.. place what eriksen now plays

He’s needed more than Bruno. Should of kept him in the squad and subbed Bruno with Rasmus -Garnacho,Rasmus, Omad, Zirkzee 9.5. Erikson/Mainoo and Ugarte in midfield.

I love Joshua "Not a Striker" Zirkzee, he isn't likely to put the ball in the net but he does so many other things, he can cook, mix drinks, folds clothes up well. We are looking good this season thanks to Zirkzee.

How about a midfield with Ugarte & Bruno with Zirkzee behind Hojland for games we suppose/want to really dominate
Speaking in the long term, I think the team need to get into a rhythm of patterns for a a year or two so that everything becomes second-nature to them, kind of like how it is with City, they can play passes without even really thinking about it. And then as the years go on it will be much easier for new signings to fit into the system.
At the moment it seems like they are starting to learn the patterns, but it's still new to them and it takes a lot of thinking and effort.
It's kind of like if you start a new job and you can do the work but you're still slow and cumbersome at it, but if everybody else knows what they're doing then you will learn a lot quicker.
And I think this will be a good season for the team to learn this, with a lot of Europa League and Carabao Cup games. I wouldn't be surprised if ETH makes his team selections based on something like this, using lower rated opponents for the team to practice some of these patterns of play. I wouldn't be surprised to see us putting out a strong team against weaker opponents, and then subbing in other players to see if they can still keep the same tempo going.

Yes but he needs more to his game than just being a good link up player. You can't have that as your main asset as a forward. Especially if you're gonna lead the line in some games for United!
Must be why Firmino was so great at Liverpool, he wasn't a great goalscoring, barely scoring any goals, it was his all round game, outside of goals, why Liverpool fans loved him, getting the best out of Salah, and Mane, same with Benzema and Ronaldo

If he can improve his finishing, he'll be lethal. I get he adds more than goals, but it's not like he isn't getting chances. Improve that finishing and he can easily be a 20-25 goal striker, because the movement is there

Zirkzee is really good
Think most of us appreciate Zirkzee’s positive contributions. We just can’t finish those chances that he helps to create. Quite frustrating really.
Zirkzee would come good for us.
It was a double whammy when Zirkzee came off. Not only did we lose his linkup, Hojlund is basically just pace and power and was clearly lacking sharpness. We lost something but also gained nothing either. No shade against Hojlund but he'll be our go-to against teams that play a higher line
If we play Josh and Rasmus then we will have to rotate Bruno he will rest for this to happen effectively and we must play amad to make this balance
He remindes me of young Benzema.
I would try Hojlund and Zirkzee together...

I don't know how he stayed under my radar for that long. He's actually very much like Kluivert, who was before he went to the PL a much better centre forward than Van Nistelrooij. It's basically a classic 9 in the total football or the Ajax football kind, the wingers are the most forward players in that, quick players who can beat off side, and the 9 combining with the 10 over the axis, a bit like two different kinds of CF's in a classic 4-4-2 but without an out and out finisher. He seems unfazed by anything too.
I still dont understand why he came off and bruno stayed on the pitch on that game. Ten hag is in shambles when he has to deal with rashford and bruno.

Zirkzee is great in the Bruno role but never as a actual striker he SUCKS at that and if you cant see that you have to go to the eye doctor... Højlund is still the goalman striker on this United team where Zirkzee is CLEARLY a creative man to have behind him and get Garnacho Rashford and Højlund into play. Might actually see a Højlund that doesnt lack service for once...

The "problem" Zirkzee is causing is that he could replace Bruno Fernandes at the heart of United built-up.
I would love to see a combination of Zirkzee/Rashford upfront or Zirkzee/Hojlund.
This season, ETH has to be courageous enough to try it, to bench Bruno Fernandes even if he's captain.
It will only benefit United. Bruno will have less game to play.

I’d play Zirkzee (or Eriksen) over Bruno all day every day. I don’t care how much some people are blinded by moments, he’s an emotional wreck and costs us week after week. Such a better unit when he doesn’t play.
Zirkzee in Bruno out... I swear try it out a few games with Højlund as a shooter. Højlund doing what zirkzee sucks balls at and Zirkzee doing what Højlund cant... Also please do a video what happened when Eriksen went off the pitch...

Now we have Hojlund back at 9 I would be playing Zirkzee at 10 instead of Bruno. We would be a better team. The link up and passing would be better. Bruno is like a skud missile, all over the place, losing possession, missing easy chances, always out of position, trying to make miracle passes that never get there. I'd be looking to move him on why we can get a good fee.
Rotate Bruno with Mount. Keep Zirkzee Eriksen and Hojlund on starters. Bruno’s head needs to clear out on complicated plays and should play back to basics. His role is not a striker but he wants to score more, the reason he gets reckless.
His balance of creativity and control is what we wished Bruno was
I think he will slowly take up Bruno's place and rasmus will be playing the striker role this may lead to the ultimate selling of Bruno i may be over critical about bruno but i feel like he is slowly fading out as a player and it's irritating to watch him play that outside foot shot so much.
i think bruno should play more deep and let zirkzee play more forward let him a facilitator to hojlund. If bruno play more deep he can pair with ugarte so ugarte can pair with bruno or mainoo.
@@pawull it's not a must that Bruno must be included in every midfield set up. He is a misfit in that midfield because of his inability to hold the ball.

Against weaker sides that could work. But as soon as you face a club with a sharp and athletic midfield, I worry they'd tear through us.
I mean, why can't ETH work with the forwards he had in Rashy, Garnacho, Antony, Amad, Rasmus?
I think the ideal is to have two players per position, and that's only 5 players for the 3 forward positions, with one of them injured for the last month or more, and another one not having lived up to his (perceived) potential.
He should not have been subbed off against palace, nothing happend after that.
Play zirkzee and hoijlund together and drop bruno
We do need to get a better nr 9 striker as I've been saying all year. Zirkzee can facilitate him. I'm not too positive about Hojlund.

You need to look into what makes you not so positive about Rasmus. He was in the bottom 1 percent of premier league forwards last season for shots taken (1.58 per 90). So of course he didn't have a lot of goals. But he was in the 90th percentile for percent of shots that were on target, the 91st for goals per shot, and the 83rd for goals per shot on target. Create more shooting opportunities for him, and the goals will come.

I don't realy get all the buildup, link up hype about this guy, we just need a striker who scores goals, simple. He has been too wasteful so far
Rasmus didn't score a ton of goals last year, but not because he was missing chances. Because he wasn't provided chances. The pendulum has swung a bit farther this season than I thought it would (with United now "leading" the league in big chances missed), but at least we're creating. Goals will come.
Bruno and Zerkzee they are just the same. Bruno can drop and can push is part of his arsenal we see him shoot outside the box but lotation wish combine Zerkzee and Bruno for me is not impactful

I've got to say, I'm not sold on him yet. He was bought as a striker so his goal output should be much better. It's no wonder United are struggling to score. Also, I know Bruno had a bad game and gives the ball away a lot, but he also creates an awful lot of chances. Why would Zirkzee as a striker keep occupying the areas of a number 10 when that just gets in the way of Bruno? United need a ruthless finisher not a second player playing as a 10.
I think what irritates me more about this is we bought Zirkzee, who was bought as a striker and is clearly not one, when Victor Oshimen was available.

And not even with the thought process of "you've sucked recently, it's time to hit the bench". Simply rotation, like he did with Marcus. The number of capable players in the squad is higher than last season, so there should be more opportunities for rotation without an obvious drop-off. Bruno needs a rest. Not as punishment, but as a strategy.
Time for Bruno to be dropped to the bench, he was poor against palace, Ericson was brilliant, i dont think Hoiland has it to be first choice

This is what I want from EtH:
1) Big calls: remember how ten hag dropped ronaldo; he doesn't do it anymore, no matter how badly his favourites are playing, he never drops them, eg in case, Bruno. Bruno is our most imp player undoubtedly but right now he's poor, he neess to go on bench, mount or zirkzee needs to atart in his place
2) in-game management: the perception that EtH is tactically poor is a myth, in reality, he's one of the best tactical coach out there, just look at the results when he set up utd to nullify opposition; EtH'a flaw is that ge doesn't seem to have a plan B when things don't work out or he doesn't show the urgency in dying moments anymore
3) Subs: 3 years into the job & his subs are still largely a miss, last season was understandable with injuries but that wasn't the case at palace, we had a lot of options to try a different approach but we didn't and his biggest blundwr was taking off zirkzee
4) Authority: EtH's my way or the highway approach was a breath of fresh air after a la di da approach for years; but Ten Hag has lost that touch, his confidence, & his authority somewhere, maybe it's because ineos flirted with ither managers openly and EtH somewhat feels under pressure but it's high time that EtH recapture his first season's aura
Last season's disaster is in the past, we're under a new leadership team who have backed EtH in the market, EtH needs to draw confidence from this fact and start stringing results while ignoring the hateful media, we've a talented squad who are good enough to secure top 4 while going deep into other competitions
