    I didn’t think I was going to like the outcome do to the fact of how you placed the first layer, and cut out the lettering. It’s not how I would of expected it to turn out. It’s different. And I like it. The end product turned out amazing. 🤩

      @@zrcarbon9937 Exacty, I can't imagine that Ducati would make them heavier than they have to be. After all these parts barely have to withstand any forces.
      Would be interested, how a cars front bumper would compare, but since I'm in germany, this kind of stuff would be highly illegal..

    • @buddtwin2
      @buddtwin2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@m-tech1816 what you mean it’s illegal to buy carbon fiber and epoxy?
      After reading your comment I had to do some research on this, and to be honest I couldn’t find a single thing that said buying epoxy or cabin fiber was illegal for private sales.

    • @m-tech1816
      @m-tech1816 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buddtwin2 yeah no, the material itself isn't illegal at all but you go straight to jail if you even think of putting self made parts on a car and driving that on the streets.
      If you hit a person, the material could chip in a way, that makes sharp edges, which could harm the person. It's dumb, but it's the law here.

    Great Work. Not a Big Fan of the Layup, but Great Work you are doing. But i´ve got an tip for you. If you wanna glue something on the backside of carbon fibre there is a special Peel Ply which leaves an Surface you can directly bond to. If I were to make stuff from carbon like this it would mainly be for looks. The performance gained is minimal. I may start with small pieces for rc, and not even weave carbon but forged for its ease. Do you have any tips for creating custom molds easily?

    • @zrcarbon9937
      @zrcarbon9937  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey
      The easiest way to make a mould if you use a 3D printer.
      Also you could build and design your own pattern by hand using foam board for example. Than make the mould of that.
      There are several ways to do. You could find plenty of resources about it on TH-cam.

      Hey man
      Please ask if you have any questions. Not bothering me at all. The prepreg can be kept outside for about a couple or few days on room temperature. To preserve the epoxy in the prepreg must be kept in the freezer airtight. I only defrost the amount I usually need in one go. You can read more about this prepreg here: www.easycomposites.co.uk/xc130-210g-22-twill-3k-prepreg-carbon-fibre

    Usually you wouldn't wait for the Gelcoat to fully cure. It's way better (and easier) to wait it to cure to B-Stage (a few hours, if you touch it the gelcoat is still sticky but it doesn't come off) and then you apply your tooling resin with reinforcement. This way the bond between the gelcoat and the resin with the reinforcement is also chemical, not only physical, and therefore way stronger. We do molds like this in about 3-4 hours of work (before demolding)

    • @zrcarbon9937
      @zrcarbon9937  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey
      Thanks for your advice.
      I tried that before. The high temp gelcoat not compatible with the tooling resin I’m using. Least the gelcoat has to fully cure. The tooling resin will soften the HT gelcoat if it’s still tacky and delaminating the layers. Never worked for me. I’m saying this out of experience. Maybe you’re using a different type of resin or gelcoat. 🤷‍♂️
      Thanks anyway 🛠️🤘

      @@zrcarbon9937 To avoid compatibility problems between the gelcoat and the mold resin, simply make a first layer of fiberglass with classic polyester resin, wait for this layer to dry, and make the following layers with the mold resin. This is the method I was taught at work 👍

      The purpose of using the small brush. I was able to break the surface tension and get into the corners much easier. Les likely to have air bubbles trapped on the surface. The small brush is even more useful when the temperature is lower than 20c and the gelcoat is too thick. 🤘

Nur weil ihr ein Teil zuhaue backen könnt, heisst das nicht das es die Struktur hat die es braucht. Schaut man sich hier in dem Video an, wie das ganze ausgelegt wurde, dann geht es nur ums Gewicht sparen aber nicht um die Steifigkeit. Und dieser Punkt ist genau so wichtig.
