    Interested in turning your left over bottles in useful and trendy cups, tumblers, wind chimes, hurricanes, and all sorts of nifty things? Watch the video and subscribe!
    In this simple 3 step bottle cutting video you'll learn how to cleanly cut wine, beer, and liquor bottles quickly and efficiently with one inexpensive tool and household items.
    Warning, acetone and string do not work! You cannot get clean edges.
    Learn all about bottle cutting in this bottle cutting tutorial.
    You can cut beer, wine, tequila, and all sorts of glass bottles.
    The first step is to score the bottle. The score doesn't have to be deep. Make sure to apply consistent constant pressure. Once the score is done you need to apply heat. Have a cup of ice handy and light a candle. For 12 ounce beer bottles keep over the flame for 60 seconds. The thicker the glass the longer it needs to rotate over the flame. A champagne bottle should stay over the flame for about 2 minutes.
    Next, rub ice around the score mark. You may hear cracking. This means it's working. If you see vertical stress cracks your bottle got too hot. I'd recommend discarding and starting over. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right! That's ok, and expected!
    Continue to alternate between fire and ice until your bottle breaks in half. Try and maintain a firm grip because it happens very suddenly!
    Good luck, and if you have questions, leave them in the comments below!

    No problem! Glad the link to the bottle cutter was helpful!
    Be careful though, she might overdo it and you'll find your apartment over flowing with empty bottles...not that I'm speaking from experience!

    Thank you very much.... I have been cutting bottles dipping the bottle in hot water then iced water alternating... the process used up so much gas/electricity heating up the water and getting too much ice in the ref... will try this.... thank you too for the time to heat up the bottle depending on the size of the bottle. Very big help.

    Fascinating. Thanks so much. Hate to ask you this, but is there an easy way to cut the bottom of a "plastic" water bottle? I need it for paint pouring but with my arthritis it's hard to cut with scissors. Anna K.

      +Sharon King Try some emery cloth. You can get it at home depot. There are more expensive and professional solutions if you're willing to invest some serious $$$. But that should get you started at the hobbyist level.

    If I wanted to make the bottle into a drinking glass with the labels still on them, what should I use to keep the labels from getting ruined by washing them?

    • @CaitlinOBigelow1
      @CaitlinOBigelow1  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would wash by hand and not let the label get wet.

      Amanda, I'm making a set of beer bottle glasses and 6 pack holder coasters for my bfs birthday, and I bought a bottle of Mod Podge that is a dishwasher safe gloss to cover any labels and use on the tops of the coasters. It was $8 at Joann Fabric.

    Bigs! Do you ever score bottles without using a bottle cutter? Like, would just a razor blade/box cutter work? xox :)

    • @CaitlinOBigelow1
      @CaitlinOBigelow1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Molly Wild you need to have a diamond encrusted blade. I don't think a normal blade/box cutter would be strong enough to score glass. Check around online though, I'm pretty sure you can just buy the blade by itself because I've seen a lot of homemade versions around. Let me know how it goes!! :D

    Girl thinks you have don well, the only thing i have seen some one use hot water and cold i think i like that better,

    • @CaitlinOBigelow1
      @CaitlinOBigelow1  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dawn Bacchus I've only used the hot water/cold water method a few times. I don't recommend it as I think it's more prone to cracking. The benefit of the method above is that it concentrates the heat and the cold along the score line putting the tension there. When you pour hot water you can't concentrate the heat in that way.

      I'd guess the young Lady is just nervous. Her voice does crack slightly. However her presentation is flawless, Keep up the good work Ms. . The fact I actually ordered an Ephrem's bottle cutter is due largely to your ease of using it. God bless.
