Hi Anna, what if after you nudge the living skin back and there is a excess of skin hanging? do you just leave it as you can't cut?

    • @TheSalonLife

If the skin fold is stretched keep caring for it and nudging. Skin shrinks over time. Let it shrink. It will over time.

I use jojoba oil after washing my hands and after manicures are dry. I also warm soak my nails once a week and rub the oil into my hands. I oil my whole hands at night before bed and add lotion on top once it soaks in a bit. My hands look pretty good for and older woman and my cuticles look perfect.

I'm a natural nail Girly too!! If you want your nails to grow quicker and thicker.. take a garlic clove, cut it in half and rub the garlic on your nails once a week, I like to mince the garlic and add a few drops of lemon juice to it and make a paste with it. I put it on my nails and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes. Sometimes I leave it as is and let it soak into the nail plate, sometimes I'll put the paste on the nail and wrap a small piece of foil around each nail if I'm gonna be moving around so it doesn't fall off. Then after 20-30 minutes, discard your paste, wash with Dawn dish soap(or any good quality grease/oil remover and add cuticle oil for moisture protection.
I'm glad to hear your nails are looking better these days!! Good luck on your nail growth journey!!!

Thank you so much! I'm 62, and all of my life I've had hideous, scraggly cuticles and such short nail beds. I would roughly try to push cuticles back or even scrape them, resulting in painful hangnails that don't heal quickly and even infections around the cuticle. I've always hidden my hands and that is so sad!! Thanks to you, I know it is not the cuticle, but living skin stuck to the nail! After only 3 days of kerasal before bed, I cannot believe the difference! I am also starting to use cuticle oil after washing before my cera ve cream. For the first time, I have hope, I really do! Thank you again so much!

Thank you. My nails are horrid. I train dogs and dog a lot of gardening. I am washing my hands constantly. My nails peel and have ridges. They bend and are so weak that I can't use them for anything, so I keep them cut very short but thet is all I do. I have never had a manicure nor do I wear polish but I just want them to be stronger again.

Thank you for showing the difference between the cuticle and the proximal nail fold! I always thought they were both considered the cuticle, so when I'd push back the nail folds as a kid, they'd be irritated, so I stopped tending to all of it.
Now I understand the importance of trading the cuticle but honoring where it ends!

I am SO glad I found your channel at the beginning of 2023! For years and years I had overgrown/stretching skin around my nails plus very dry skin on my whole hands. I work at a hospital lab and we have a strict policy of short nails with no nail polish. I wash and desinfect my hands many times a day and it has always been painful, as I had open spots and inflammated areas around my nails for years. Also I picked at my nail skin a lot, as I constantly had dry skin hanging off the edges...and endless circle :( After watching THIS video, I bought a 2 bottles of Jojoba oil (and put some essential lemon oil in it, as I don´t like the smell otherwise), one for my bathroom and one for my workplace. And after following your strict routine for a while, all, I repeat ALL my issues have gone! :) I can not thank you enough for your advise and your great videos! Greetings from Germany ♥

    Thanks for these useful tips!
I'm 55 years old, and I've always had this problem (though I didn't knew what it was) with the living skin adhering to the cuticle/nail plate and growing with it till the living skin started to fray, and because of that I never could have a manicure done. I'd always end with bleeding fingers because, of course, they were cutting (as I know now) the living skin.
I've recently ordered Kerasal and some nail oils, and just started using it, and I'm very hopeful that finally (after 50 years) I'lll have nice looking nails. Finally!

Thank you so much for this video. I am 62 and vegan for 7 years. I just started my raw vegan journey 2 months ago. I am amazed at he differences in my skin, especially the skin of my hand and of the improvement of my nails and cuticle. I've always had a small nail bed and small nails and skin that stuck to nails. But now my hands and nails look so much healthier, and I am motivated to take better care of them. I never thought to use oil after handwashing. Whenever I have used oil, it has been sporadic after giving myself a manicure, but never after ordinary handwashing. Thank you again for this video.

My new habits have made ALL the difference in my nails! Definitely the cuticle oil/hand cream ritual is a game changer but I think the real hero product and habit is the warm oil soak. When I don't do it, I see the difference. Thank you so much for all your awesome tips and cool videos!!

Great! Which oil did you use to soak your nails?

    • @lorid823
      @lorid823 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Teeyah2 i did a mixture of jojoba, almond and avocado as recommended by Anna when I was back home in California but I'm in France for 5 months and I am finding the oils more $$ so I am just using jojoba for time being. Still working great!

I'm loving your videos since they starting popping up on my home page and just subscribed! I've been using my nail oil more consistently since I started watching. I was looking through your videos for any advice on dealing with nail psoriasis cosmetically and haven't found much. I'd love to see you make a video about how to take care of your nails with nail psoriasis. I'd like to learn how to better care for my nails with psoriasis without causing them any further damage.

I tried this polish with the clear polish by Expressie and also with the Essie long wear top coat and I loved the shine of the Long Wear Top coat. Would love your thoughts. You do an amazing job polishing nails! Really, enjoy your videos!

I really had no idea why my nails keep peeling, but after the videos I have watched the nails must be dry. I was in the swimming pool 3 days a week and thought that was the problem but since I am not doing that now my nails are still peeling. I now understand that I should not file to get rid of the peeling part of the mail but cut it . I am now applying oil to my nails and I loved when you showed you only needed one drop per hand as now I am sure my hands won’t feel greasy. Thanks ❤

Thank you so much for sharing your expertise.
Is there a buffer grit you recommend for gently exfoliating the skin around the nail? My hands are naturally on the dry side and my glass files (germanikure) are too fine to buff out the dry, flakey skin. I'm looking for the equivalent of what you use after you smooth out the one-time use blocks you use on clients.
