After years of neglecting my nails because my place of employment, I decided to get back in the nail game. I definitely have cuticles! Thank you for this informative video! I used to go to salons (years ago), but I have been doing my nails on my own this time. So I've been on TH-cam watching the DIY vids on nail care, which is how I came across your channel. Thank you so much for the information on this vid. ❤
I just recently stopped biting my nails after doing it as long as I was alive. I decided to put taking care of my nails in place of the bad habit. How much could there be in the basics, right? Grabbed some things, followed a tutorial, and was covered in blood😭
i’m 15 and my mom has never let me get my nails done, so i’ve been doing my nails myself for a few years and i’ve never been able to figure out what to do with my cuticles. this was really helpful, so thank you!!!
wow, you're gonna grow up to be such a guru. omg, good for you! it may seem like really simple minor stuff to people who want to dismiss it, but I've paid to get my nails done for years and I'll tell you, not everyone has the ability to figure all this out.
My favorite part would be giving myself a manicure! My husband has a late meeting Tuesday nights so I pamper myself after he leaves and all the kids are in bed. Something I look forward to each week.
I prefer to put vaseline on cuticles because it feels a lot safer than removing stuff. It's not like the skin is dead, it's generally just dried and flakey. By hydrating it you end up with a healthier nail than if you tried to cut it all away (I believe it strengthens the connection to the nail surface through rehydration). It also just helps to have in a pocket or bag for whenever you're worrying about your nails' health.
To me, there is nothing prettier than well taken care of hands. That’s why I am very interested in Learco to do mine. I am 79 years old and my hands are not steady, but I try and try until I get the results I want. Your nails are beautiful!!
My favorite part is seeing the dead cuticle come off my nail, so satisfying! I prefer dry cuticle work so I’m definitely ordering that glass cuticle pusher. Thanks for the video and info!
I can’t express how thankful I am for this video, I bit my nails for years and never learned how to take care of my nails. And didn’t have any guidance. I am 29 now and I feel like I may be more successful in nail care. Thank you.
My favorite part is after all the clean-up and shaping and I have this pristine palette primed for some beautiful nail art! The paint, flakies, glitter and stamping is where the fun really is for me! Thanks for this video!
Moisturizing is my favorite part of any beauty routine! Doesn't matter if it's a mani/pedi, pre makeup application, or just using some lotion after the shower, but I love how my skin feels with some nice moisturizing ingredients!
I think my favorite part might be doing my nails! I don’t do them very often, but when I do, I experiment with designs and colors, which is super relaxing as someone who enjoys art! I only got back into nail polish last year because of Kathleen Lights and KL polish closing. I bought all of her nail polishes on discount and don’t regret it at all!
When it comes to my nails, my favorite part is the polish! I love finding the perfect color(s), brushing it on and seeing the final results. Then, if I want to do nail art, I'm ready to go!
My favorite part is trying out new designs on each nail and seeing the whole look come together when all 5 fingers are done! I've always been into drawing since I was young, so it's really nice to take that and apply it to beauty as well :-)
My favorite part of my (nail) beauty routine is the topcoating! It is the cherry on top of all the work that goes into healthy beautiful nails. After all of the removal of old polish, the cuticle care, the filing, the cleaning, the polishing (then perhaps a little nail art 😉), the cleaning up around the nail, then comes the perfector...the smoother...the glosser (or matte, depending on mood)...the true cherry on top...the TOPCOAT! 💅
Skin care is my favourite part of my beauty routine. There's something immensely satisfying about finding the the perfect combination of products to really make your skin glow!
I’m on a 6 week rest from any manicure or nail polish after the GEL type started to react against my nail bed as a result of having my cuticles clipped. My nails went from a healthy length to looking as if I had chewed them, worse still, the polish no longer ‘took’ on my nails and just looked partially like they were full of air bubbles. This doesn’t happen to everyone but was a hard lesson to learn.
While I love every part of my nail care routine, my favorite is probably when I take off my manicure and do some serious nail/cuticle care. I remove my polish with a basic acetone remover, usually Zoya's 3-in-1 formula remover. I then wash my hands and thoroughly (but gently) brush my nail surface and underneath. Every few weeks I exfoliate with a sugar scrub. I gently push back my cuticles with a metal cuticle pusher or orange stick, and remove hang nails and excess skin with a cuticle nipper (this part is not always weekly). I then oil up my nails with a combination of jojoba and vitamin E, applying it to my nail surface and underneath my nail edge, and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes and then rub it in. I then use the same oil combination around my cuticles, and lastly apply a lotion to my hands (usually some something with shea butter or hylauronic acid or whatever suits my fancy at the time). I went back and forth on the cuticle nipper issue for a long time, but ultimately came down on the side of it. My cuticles get DRY and my proximal nail fold becomes a nuisance if left to its own devices in spite of a rigorous cuticle routine. Once I began to just nip off the dryest part of my proximal fold, my cuticles looked a lot healthier and even exposed more of my nail bed. I also bought a electronic nail file/drill and use it monthly for serious cuticle clean up around my side walls and callouses. I know this seems rigorous and a lot, but it's really about a half hour once a week. I used to bite my nails and stopped nine years ago. When I stopped, my cuticles were severely overgrown and my nail seriously damaged. This routine comes from years of trial and error, failure and success.
My favorite part of my beauty routine is moisturizing, especially my hands after washing/sanitizing them all the time as a nurse. I also love getting to be creative with different nail polish colors and designs. I've never seen anything like the dry cuticle pusher! Thanks for the tip.
My favorite part of my routine is seeing the results after filing and shaping my nails. I definitely need to hydrate more though and this butter looks so nice.
Love, Love, Love! Thank You Julie, I truly appreciate You. My Favorite part of a manicure is the end result. After removing the dead cuticle, polishing my nails then after the polish has dried, rubbing in either coconut oil or cuticle oil my hands & nails feels Fantastic 👍.
i dont snip the cuticles unless absolutely necessary. like a nail biter w lots of little cuts or someone with thick//tough skin. usually i prefer a bit :) i love cutting 1 clean piece though. soo satisfying
I have eczema and struggle with my skin all the time. I’ve recently tried cerave body wash and have noticed overall improvement in my skin, including my hands & cuticles. So my favorite part of self care is using my body wash for all over benefit.
I love the pampering of nail care. My favorite part would probably be the end result. Feeling calm, relaxed and with a beautiful manicure to show for some self care.
I have two favorite parts of my beauty routine, for two different parts of my body! My first is painting my nails. I love picking out the perfect color for my mood, an event, or to coordinate with my outfit, and then find it very calming and focusing to paint it on, as well as satisfying to get it on just right, now that I've practiced enough to not make a mess of it! The second is washing my face at night. Giving myself a little facial massage as I take off all the dirt & makeup and make my skin feel fresh and new, I feel like I'm washing away the stress of the day and giving myself a fresh start. It helps me relax, clear my mind, and helps tell my mind and body to prepare for sleep.
My favorite part is filing, buffing, smoothing, and shining. I love the shining process if I’m doing natural nails. It’s so gorgeous and the shine lasts for days!
My favorite part of my beauty routine is nail and skincare. Its so relaxing and it helps me to know that I am taking good care of myself. Like I'm doing something for myself ❤❤❤
My favorite part of my beauty routine is getting to pamper myself without the cost of going to a salon. Self care is so important to helping you feel good. The items for the giveaway look amazing and would love to add them as part of my self care beauty routine.
I recently started taking collagen every day. It’s made the biggest improvement on my nails. Now I have to go in and file every couple days because they go so long and fast. I just love seeing actual length on my nails
My favorite part is just making the time to take care of myself, I also love the way I feel a boost of confidence after. Thank you for this video it is super helpful and informative.
I enjoyed watching what cuticle remover you used. so many do not work! also I have never seen a glass file like that-very interesting. The maxusnail balm would really help my cuticles which are a mess.
For manicures, my favorite part is seeing how healthy my nails and cuticle look after cleaning off all the dead stuff. Love when my fingers look fresh even without any polish on!
I have very dry hands and nails due to years of scrubbing with harsh soaps as an OR scrub tech. That being said my favorite part of my beauty routine is indeed my DIY manicures. The glass cuticle pusher looks interesting and am definitely going to try it! Thanks great video once again! 😍
I do my nails weekly and my favorite part is trimming my cuticles!! I get a lot of extra dead skin so it’s always super satisfying to trim it all away 😍
Great video. I love the little freckle on your index finger. The favorite part of my beauty routine is applying moisturizer. My skin looks smooth and plump afterward.
I enjoy your demeanor Juli and appreciate your attention to detail without all the excessive chit chat. Great job! I am excited to try Maxus base and top coats as well as the yummy cuticle butter. I believe your fresh natural nail look and approach is simply the best! I trust you to know which products will work for me. Thank you so much!
I’ve always enjoyed having well manicured nails. I do use nippers but have struggled with pushing back my cuticles. Your video seemed to make it look easy. Maybe it’s the brand of cuticle softener I have used.
Just ordered the maxus butter so excited to use. definitely gonna be doing my own nails from now on especially cutting my own cuticles because nails salons always mess up my beautiful natural nails. Thankyou!
I watched this for the second time and I am thrilled to say I finally got it right- as you instructed!! Some of us just get thicker skin (that fold part) and all the boil in the world doesn’t help! Using these nippers judiciously and carefully corrects that problem while keeping your nails natural looking. It’s obviously when some over-nip because the nail bed just dead-ends into the skin and it looks awful. Thanks again and it’s always good to remind yourself of proper techniques and it’s a pleasure to learn from you.
Excellent video. Although I was spectacularly disappointed in my first self-care attempts back at the start of sheltering in place in March, my techniques have improved, along with my general nail health (years of powder had taken their toll). Thx for the calm advice!!
Hello, I have been having lots of hang nails this summer. I just started cutting my cuticles. I like how it looks so munch better. I am trying to do better with putting lotion and oil on my nails.Thank you for all your info on nails!!!
This is a great video. I’ve been having problems with my cuticles & getting hang mails & I haven’t quite figured out how to use my manicure tools approximately. Thank you for this.
I love the whole process from removing the current polish to nail care and finally applying the new polish. But my favorite is the hand lotioning and cuticle/nail moisterizing. I love the feel and look of my manicure after I have lotioned and oiled my hands/cuticles. I do this several times a day from all the hand washing that goes on. It's also very relaxing to apply.
Being in dermatology and seeing patients time and time again with infections from nail salons, have pushed me into doing my own nails at home (I recommend investing in an autoclave). This was very helpful, definitely tempting to want to remove everything, but your nails and overall health will thank you for your restraint.
Thank you for this video. I have always been so worried about cuticle cutting but I watched this and gave it a go. I have to say. I’m so impressed with the result. Thank you for your advice
My favorite part of my beauty routine is actually trimming my cuticles! I find it very satisfying to do and it feels good to get all the dead skin off! I love the way this step helps perfect my manicures!
My favorite part is when I’m finished and can sit back and massage my jojoba oil into not just my cuticles, but my entire hands. That process goes on for a good 10 minutes..😍
Thank you for this!!! I have been really enjoying doing my nails lately, I keep improving but the most difficult step for me is..the cuticles!!!! I always am amazed when I seen a clean A💲💲 cuticle with no dead skin or jaggedness…it’s my least fav part of doing my nails because I can never seem to get it perfect. Maybe i will just invest in a cuticle remover! That looked so easy 😍.
Great tutorial. I always have had a problem with my cuticles but now I think I can do this. I’ll have to try the nail butter, it certainly helps make your nails look amazing. Thanks for sharing.
A good way to practice cutting your cuticle is to use an orange or straw. Draw a line to represent the cuticle area, and use your nippers to practice your cuticle trimming confidence. Also, you seem to have large and square cuticle nipped (looks like size 16 perhaps) I would suggest looking into a smaller set, I personally use 12/14 nippers with a small rounded edge. A lot of techs use size 16 nippers for some reason, but I think the small ones work better for dry corners
My favorite part of my beauty routine (and most consistent) is doing my nails. I've been doing my own nails for several years now and won't go back to having them done at a salon. I've got Maxus base and top coat and love them. I think I now need that cuticle butter! It looks amazing!
My favorite part of the whole process is the cuticle cream at the end. It’s such a satisfaction knowing your finished and I feel like they always look their best then.
I got to 2:57… I can’t even watch, it’s nice to hear that I’m not alone in this, and I understand the benefits. Half of mine are destroyed, so that totally counts! Thank you for giving me a goal to think about! I’ll revisit 🌟
Awesome video!! As always. I totally need that little glass cuticle remover! It looks fantastic. My favorite part of my beauty routine is doing my nails. I'm not big on makeup, but I love doing my nails. Sitting down in the evening and filing and painting my nails is what keeps me calm;)
My favorite part of my beauty routine is applying the perfect shade of lipstick! Nowadays, I wear a mask whenever I have to go out, so I’d say nails-wise my favorite part is brushing on that glossy topcoat and admiring the shine 😍
I recently started doing my own nails with a uv lamp at home. Once I got the system down pat, I did my daughter’s nails. She was stunned at how soothing and wonderful it is to be pampered by someone who loves you. I don’t think we will ever go back to a salon.💅🏻
the UV lamp is dangerous. It can cause cancer.
I enjoy the whole manicure process because it’s really about self-care during such stressful current events.

What exact collagen are you taking? I need to find something soon! I'm trying to grow my nails out but they are so weak from bad habits and gel nails!
Rebekah Richards I do the Beachbody one. I started “selling” it a while ago but I mostly use it for me lol
My favorite part of my beauty routine is applying hand cream! I love the soft feeling and delicious smells ♡
I've never seen a glass cuticle pusher before. I might try one. Thanks for the tip.
So glad to see you back! Always enjoy your videos. My favorite part is once all of the prep is done actually laying down that beautiful polish.
My self routine is maintaining my locs. I have a shampoo brush and it feels amazing to scrub my scalp. Love doing my hair!
I do my nails weekly and my favorite part is trimming my cuticles!! I get a lot of extra dead skin so it’s always super satisfying to trim it all away 😍
How often do you do it a month?
Great video. I love the little freckle on your index finger.
The favorite part of my beauty routine is applying moisturizer. My skin looks smooth and plump afterward.
I enjoy your demeanor Juli and appreciate your attention to detail without all the excessive chit chat. Great job! I am excited to try Maxus base and top coats as well as the yummy cuticle butter. I believe your fresh natural nail look and approach is simply the best! I trust you to know which products will work for me. Thank you so much!
I love seeing the results of something I've really worked hard to learn. So satisfying!
Your voice is so soothing and energetic at the same time! Keep it up!
I am constantly using cuticle oil or butter. I hate having dry skin. I’m going to have to try it. I like the cuticle tool you used too.
I am trying to do better with putting lotion and oil on my nails.Thank you for all your info on nails!!!
i enjoy giving myself manicures ! i've learned to love my natural nails the past year or so.
This is a great video. I’ve been having problems with my cuticles & getting hang mails & I haven’t quite figured out how to use my manicure tools approximately. Thank you for this.
My favorite part of my nail routine is scrapping off the cuticle. It is so satisfying! I also love the painting process.
My fav part of the routine is just the relaxed feeling I get when I take care of my skin and nails.
Great video..very informative. My favorite part of my nail routine is selecting a color(s). . I have a lot to choose from.
Being in dermatology and seeing patients time and time again with infections from nail salons, have pushed me into doing my own nails at home (I recommend investing in an autoclave). This was very helpful, definitely tempting to want to remove everything, but your nails and overall health will thank you for your restraint.
Wait- so would you recommend what is shown in the video? I am scared of hurting my nails somehow
Thank you for this video. I have always been so worried about cuticle cutting but I watched this and gave it a go. I have to say. I’m so impressed with the result. Thank you for your advice
I have been obsessing with nails over the past couple of weeks. Very informative video. Thank you!
Yay you're back!!! We missed you
My favorite part is cuticle care. I'm new to this but it is so rewarding.

I use shea/cocoa butter or when I don’t have that just some vaseline
I enjoy sugar scrubs, because afterward everything feels clean and soft!
I like how the cuticle creme soften the dead cuticle skin and the removal with glass pusher. Also the top coat with that natural healthy shine .
When I take the time to do my nails, it helps with my anxiety a little. Plus I feel like I put some effort in to look nice.
Awesome video!! As always. I totally need that little glass cuticle remover! It looks fantastic. My favorite part of my beauty routine is doing my nails. I'm not big on makeup, but I love doing my nails. Sitting down in the evening and filing and painting my nails is what keeps me calm;)
Doing my nails is therapeutic and my favorite part is painting the nail. I love it’s
My favorite part of my beauty routine is applying the perfect shade of lipstick! Nowadays, I wear a mask whenever I have to go out, so I’d say nails-wise my favorite part is brushing on that glossy topcoat and admiring the shine 😍
I never thought I would hear the word controversial on a cuticle video, or in a manicure LOL. Thank you for the good tips
Always looking for a great moisturizer, but the glass file was new to me! Can’t wait to get my hands on both of these products. ❤️
I’ve found that I really love the clean-up with an angle brush around my nails. There’s just something soothing about it.
I like adding little stones & embellishments to my nails...it's just a perfect finishing touch!
She makes it so easy looking. I’m a intermediate on caring for my nails. I would love to try anything to make cuticle remove easier🤗💕😘
